The story thus far: When he was a baby, Lance killed Ash's father, Giovanni. Professor Oak took him in, but abused the poor child. Then, Ash grew up as `Silver', after being adopted by Professor Birch when he was seven. At age nine, Ash started his pokemon journey with Scyther, Charizard, Mightyena, Absol, and Aggron. So far, he has defeated a swarm of beedrill and captured/changed them, gotten the Boulder badge, and is on his way to Cerulean.

Chapter 7

Mount Moon was Dark... and cold, and clammy, and infested with Zubats. Ash had no desire whatsoever to go through that cave.
Luckily, a solution presented itself.
Ash climbed onto Charizard as they flew over the mountain. Sure enough, it worked. They had landed in a wheat field near Cerulean, but at least they were close enough. Ash recalled Charizard and began walking.
“HEY! MY CROPS!!!!”
A farmer wielding a pitchfork attacked! Ash panicked, and released Beedrill. Seeing his Queen *snicker* in danger, Beedrill went to work. Swift blows to the head were excellent for knocking people out.
Feeling a bit sorry for the man, Ash left a $20 in his hand, hoping it would cover cost of the wheat he had trampled, and continued en route to Cerulean.
The morning had faded into a hazy, somewhat warm afternoon. Ash again thanked his lucky stars for Grandfather Blaine's present. He smoothed back his red hair with one hand idly while he checked his watch. Three-forty…
“Think we can grab another badge before tonight?” Ash asked, smirking. There was no reply.
Ash blushed as he realized he was talking to air. Oops.
He was almost at the city limits when a scream for help came. Sighing, Ash went over to investigate and possibly help.
Couldn't hurt, right?

Following the source of the noises, Ash spotted a girl who looked like she was drowning. Muttering a bit about having no water-types, Ash threw off his jacket and shirt and jumped in. After a few minutes, he had towed her to shore and she wasn't flailing around wildly anymore. Good...
Ash was completely unprepared when she slapped him.
“Hey! What was that for? I just saved your life!”
“You touched my chest!”
“I just _saved_ your _Life_.” Ash repeated. Anger began to simmer in his frame as he prepared to attack.
What a rude and inconsiderate person!
Anger began to build in Ash's body. Seriously! Most people were such dumb brutes. No feelings at all. He liked pokemon better. Of course, Blaine and Birch were exceptions, but still…
Misty glared. “PERVERT!”
“I wasn't trying to grope you! You were drowning!”
*Slap* “I wasn't drowning!”
Now getting quite incensed, Ash decided to leave her alone before he did serious bodily harm as his evil side was currently suggesting.
Maybe this girl was just a stupid bimbo? That would explain a lot… huffing to himself Ash exited.
Bloody ignorant girl…

“Hey! Come back here!”
Ash made a mad dash for the gym and managed to get inside. The double doors slammed shut in his pursuer's face. Sighing in relief, Ash shrugged. “Gym leader? I'd like to challenge you for a battle.”
A blonde woman with a shiny purple swimsuit on walked out. “A battle? Oh dear…” * Oh no! *
“Hmm? Are you the gym leader?”
“Yes, but… oh, I can't battle now. I have to go and do my water ballet performance. But don't worry, I'll battle you after.”
“Okay!” Ash perched himself on a handy bench and began reading a National Pokegraphic magazine.
After an hour or so, and a chocolate pudding cup later, Ash was feeling slightly impatient. What was taking so long?
“I'm Daisy.” The woman who had talked to him earlier introduced herself, walking in the door. “I am one of the three leaders of Cerulean City.”
“Wow! All three of you are gym leaders?”
“Yes, so to gain the badge, you must use three different pokemon, and fight each of us one-on-one.”
“Sounds good.” Ash said. “Who's first?”
“I'm the youngest.” Lily grinned. “I think you're kind of cute! Go, Seel!”

… Cute? Well, all right. Ash was wearing black jeans and a red-and-white jacket and his league cap, but he still looked like a child, being a child.
“Seel… water/ice… this should work. Absol, I choose you!”
Absol preened as she was released.
“Okay, Seel, give it an Aurora Beam!”
“Absol, use Faint Attack!” Absol nodded as she faded away, causing the Aurora beam to miss, before Faint Attack hit seel. Seeing as she was right next to it, Absol decided to use a Slash. Critical hit at close range = win!

“Nice.” Violet approved. “But I'm more powerful than my sister is. Go, Slowpoke!”
“Fortunately I have a second dark type.” Ash said, Mightyena coming to the rescue. “Okay, Mightyena, use Crunch!” The Slowpoke lasted even less…
Psychic's weak to dark after all.
Violet stared in shock. What type of pokemon was that? Oh sob…
Ash thanked his lucky stars that he had been living in Houen, and had spent some time in the Johto region, learning about new pokemon that hadn't been introduced to Kanto yet.
He turned to Daisy, who nodded.

“Cloyster, I choose you!”
“Impressive.” * and I really wish I had an electric type, still, no use giving up! * With a quick decision, Ash sent out Scyther.
“Cloyster, use Spike Cannon!”
“Scyther, Double Team and then Agility!” The faster mantis double-teamed, filling the area with clones, as all the spike cannon shots missed.
“Now, Slash!”
Slash wasn't that effective against Cloyster's hard defense, but it was still pretty good.
Daisy nodded. “Cloyster, Ice Beam!”
Eek. Flying beat - no, flying was _weak_ to ice. Ash gulped. “Scyther! Protect!” From a few inches away, the ice move bounced off.
“Eh?” Daisy's jaw dropped. What type of move was that?
“Now! Quick Attack!”
Luckily, that was enough to drain away Cloyster's last HP, and Ash was soon the proud owner of a Cascade Badge.
