Chapter 2: Wish
“Your embroidery is very beautiful, dear.” Elizabeth said.
Catelyn smiled from where she was stitching a dragonair in blue thread on a white scarf.
“Thank you, mommy.”
Elizabeth smiled. * I'm so glad you are back… *
Thomas's mood at work had completely changed when his daughter had returned. It was a good thing.
She just wished it could stay this way forever…
That night, while her parents were sleeping, Catelyn slipped out the window. A pair of steel wings grew out of her back, while her appearance shifted into a seventeen year old boy with spiky red hair.
Lance flew off to do his duty as realm guardian.
The scales of Fate jangled in his hands, as he judged. The lights spread as he healed, the darkness as it destroyed.
And so it continued. The double life, being the perfect child to the rich parents, and the dark avenger who manifested the rage of the pokemon.
It worked admirably.
Lugia shook his head. * My Chosen is the best. *
He wasn't jealous. After all, she might lack power, although not at the moment, but she had the most skill.
And that of course was the best strategy.
An admirable act of workmanship, Lugia thought, as he watched.
Thunder's child had just started his journey, but he would wake the memory soon enough. And he was more apt to open up to a pretty girl his age.
It was just more strategy.
Ash yawned as he walked into the newest city. It was between Saffron and Cinnabar, and he wanted to take a look.
“Come on Ash, we don't have all day!” Misty scolded.
“It'll only take a second…”
Pikachu sniffed around, but soon got bored as Ash healed his pokemon. After all, all Centers were the same.
Brock was just drooling over Nurse Joy, as usual.
It was not an unusual circumstance.
Afterwards, Ash recalled his pokemon and looked around for trainers to battle.
Catelyn watched, and then made her decision.
It was time to engineer a meeting.
“Mommy, can I go outside to play?”
Elizabeth smiled. “Of course, dear. Be careful.”
“Okay.” Catelyn smoothed down her light blue skirt and jacket, and buckled on her poke belt, before she walked out.
The childish gestures she made only endeared her to her parents more. That was the intention, of course.
Catelyn smiled as she watched her fourth cousin Bob get beaten.
“Charmander, Flamethrower!”
“Oh no!” Bob said. “My oddish!”
Charmander danced up and down happily as he grinned.
Bob scowled. “Go! Gyarados!”
“Woah.” Misty said. “How did you manage to train it up?”
“Secret.” Bob grinned.
Ash just shrugged, as Pikachu fried the water serpent. “Piece of cake.”
“No way!”
“No way!” Misty echoed. “A Gyarados taken down so easily?”
“That's because he just fed Magikarp rare candies instead of training.” A voice laughed.
The trio turned and saw a girl about Ash's age in blue watching them.
“Oh, shut up, Catelyn!” Bob shouted.
“You're just jealous.”
“Am not!”
“Whatever you say, Bob.” The girl turned to Ash. “Hi, I'm Catelyn.”
Ash said the first thing that came to mind. “I challenge you to a pokemon battle!”
Brock and Misty both sweatdropped.
“Okay…”
“Go, Pikachu!”
“You shouldn't act so fast.” Catelyn said reprovingly. “Larvitar.”
“You shouldn't act so fast.” Catelyn said reprovingly. “Larvitar.”
The small pokemon popped out, a query as it looked at the pikachu.
“Pikachu, Thunder!”
Nothing happened.
“Sorry, this little dragon doesn't touch electricity.” Catelyn smiled. “Sandstorm.”
Flying sand filled the air as Pikachu stumbled around blindly.
“Pikachu, Quick Attack!”
“Bite…”
Pikachu was just jumping away after doing Quick Attack when a set of teeth clamped down on her tail.
OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
“Pikachu!”
When the Sandstorm died down, Pikachu was worn out from exhaustion.
Catelyn recalled Larvitar with a snap of her wrist and smiled unnervingly.
“You shouldn't depend on your Pikachu for everything, Ash.”
“Wait!” Misty said. “You look pretty good, I'll challenge you too!”
“Can I have your badge if I win?”
“Of course!” Misty said. * My water-types can beat a ground-type, no problem! *
“Then let's begin.”
“Starmie, go!”
“Gyarados… Thunderbolt…” Catelyn said sweetly.
Misty's eyes popped out. * Oh no… *
The Gyarados finished off all four of her water pokemon, one after another. Misty grudgingly surrendered her badge.
“Don't look so glum.” Catelyn reassured her. “I know. Why don't you come to my house for dinner tonight?”
“Really?”
“Sure.”
“Great!” Ash cheered, his earlier loss forgotten. “Let's go!”
Lugia's laughter echoed through the cave. < Always so direct, my Chosen. >
