Chapter Nine: Several Questions and a Wedding
*****
The month passed by quickly, Brock and Nurse Joy's wedding is planned to take place in one day In the time that passed Ash and Misty were kept busy with challengers wanting the “Elemental Badge” which was quickly getting the reputation of being one of the hardest badges to get in the Indigo League. This reputation only increased the amount of challengers by the day.
The gym was a good thing for Pallet Town which was growing rapidly. Some additions were: the construction on a large Pokemon center, a 5 star hotel, hospital, and a Pokemon Community College. The community college was being planned when Oak Laboratory first opened up but the town didn't have enough funding to follow thorough with the project. The construction of the gym brought extra money to the little town making a lot of things that were in planning stages to become reality.
Ash and Misty were more than looking forward to the short trip to Pewter City.  They got up early in that morning, and made it to Pewter before nightfall mainly because Misty insisted on being in charge of the map.
Brock and Nurse Joy met Ash and Misty at the door to Brock's house. Nurse Joy greeted them, “Hi!  Glad you made it!  Lets get you settled in your room then we'll eat and talk.”  They followed her into the house, which was as noisy as ever. Thanks to some of Brock's brothers becoming carpenters the house was defiantly bigger and had more rooms.
*****
Ash and Misty stowed their bag in their room and met everyone in the large dining room where Brock's family ambushed them. “Hi!  How are you?  What do you do?  How do you know Brock?” Were just a few of the questions they got asked at the same time by different siblings.
Needless to say Ash and Misty were a bit overwhelmed.
“A…I'm…huh?” Ash stuttered and tried to answer the rapid fire multiple person interrogation but it was rather hard to get a word in edge wise with ten different people asking questions at the same time.
Misty wasn't even trying to answer. She just sat there in shock which eventually wore away to irritation.
Thankfully before Misty could yell at his siblings Brock entered the dining room while removing his apron. He took one look at his bewildered and irritated friends shook his head and whistled to bring the questions to a halt so he could announce that dinner was ready.
*****
At least dinner was relatively peaceful since everyone was eating too much to talk. The only things audible in the room was the clinking of silverware against plates and chewing with the occasional person asking to pass the rice or something akin to that. Though as soon as dinner was over they all hustled to the living room since Brock and Nurse Joy said they had an announcement to make. With the knowledge that patience isn't a virtue the younger Stones have Brock got right to the point…
“I know some of you are wondering where Joy and I are going to live…”
“Are you going to come back to Pewter?” “Or are you going to…”
Brock glared at the siblings who interrupted him and continued. “As I was saying, Joy and I are going to live in Pallet.”
“WHAT!?!”  Everyone yelled at once.
Ash was the first to recover from the shock and voiced the question on everyone's mind, “Why?”
“Well since the opening of your gym Pallet has expanded and we got good job offers.”  Joy smiled at Ash and Misty, “Besides we would be closer to you guys.”
“But what about US!”  All of Brock's siblings chimed.
Brock looked sternly at them “You guys have done fine with out me so far and it's not like I'm moving to the moon. I'll still come by and visit Pallet is less than a day away.” Brock switched back into parent mode much to the protests of his siblings, “Okay, it's getting late and we have a big day tomorrow everyone in bed now!
Other than some grumbling his siblings complied leaving the living room to prepare for bed.
Brock kissed Nurse Joy good night and they left to their respective rooms.
The morning would be hectic…
*****
Everyone was up early the next morning hurriedly preparing for the wedding. Ash and Misty helped set stuff up and then helped their friends get ready. The hard part was keeping them from seeing each other before the ceremony but they had it under control.
It was soon time for the ceremony which was to be only family or extended family in Ash and Misty's caseNurse Joy didn't have too many of her relatives over only immediate family for the ceremony which was difficult enough. Reception was to follow and the guest list extended to a few friends, some extended family, and pokemon not included in the ceremony.
*****
The ceremony went off without a hitch. Brock was in a daze and though he didn't have a best man Ash stood by his friend and kept him from attacking Joy when she came down the isle. Misty was the unofficial Matron of honor. Since Joy and Brock decided against using those titles to keep riots from breaking out amongst Brock's siblings.
It was a free speech at the reception so anyone who wanted to could say something about the Bride and Groom as long as it only took five minutes. So Ash and Misty said a few things about their friend…
After Brock's speech at his wedding Ash spent the month since the announcement of Brock's impending nuptials planning something to say at Brock's reception. He shot Brock a mischievous grin before starting and Joy had to keep her husband from sliding under the table with dread. “When I first met Brock he was a very serious gym leader who had to take care of all of his younger siblings.  When his dad came back he decided to come with me and follow his dream of becoming a Pokemon breeder. Though it was soon apparent that he was girl crazy and we had a hard enough time keeping him from proposing to every female he met. I don't know if he feels like he achieved his dream since he is now teaching and not running a salon but he makes the best pokemon food around. No one else that I know has as much knowledge about pokemon eating habits and it seems logical to me that he decided to share that knowledge. I hear a lot from other trainers that have taken his classes and know from experience is that he's a really good teacher…I feel really lucky to have met him and have him as a traveling partner, friend, and the big brother I never had. So I know that he will make a great husband and I hope that you and Joy have many years of happiness. Banzai!
Brock was touched and slightly embarrassed by Ash's speech. *Sniff…that was great, wow Ash really is getting better at public speaking,*
Misty went next, “I have to agree with Ash, Brock is the big brother both of us didn't have.  He always looked out for us…well when he wasn't chasing girls or Nurses and Officers.” Several Nurse Joys in the room laughed at that, remembering the squinty eyed teen who proposed to all of them I can't even count how many times I had to drag him away from one girl or another. I'm happy that he finally found someone who can keep him inline and take up his attention so he can focus on his work.  He is devoted to those he loves and will do just about anything to keep them safe.  I wish both of them the best.
A few more people spoke and the festivities continued until late afternoon when everyone had to go back home and prepare for work the next day.  One of Brock's sisters and brothers caught the bouquet and garter respectively.  Brock and Joy were going on a short honeymoon before moving to Pallet and getting set up at their new jobs.  They promised to let Ash and Misty know if they need help moving.
Delia and Professor Oak came up for the reception with Pikachu and Togepi and drove everyone from Pallet home after they said goodbye.

Sorry for the long wait on this edit. I've been busy with work and school and while I was still on vacation I was offered more hours at work so I took them. Well I hope those who are still reading are enjoying my story and that the edits I'm making are an improvement. Though I don't know what anyone thinks because only one person has reviewed so far. ::sigh::

Thanks for reading and please review, until next chapter,
