Chapter 6
Red colored like an overripe beet as Lance finally broke the kiss. “W-what was that for?”
“Mm, I do not think I will tell you the answer yet.”
“But you can't just kiss me!”
“Why not? You got to order me around for more than a month.”
“That was different!” Red protested lamely.
“Was it? You know, the poke ball conditioning gives a kind of empathy between trainer and pokemon. It works a lot better with you though, because your are naturally emphatic.”
“Why is this relevant?”
“Do you know how damnably difficult it was to ignore your lustful thoughts for me?” Lance smirked.
“What? You… how did you know?”
“I'm part ghost, remember? I could feel it through our link.” Lance grinned. “And it was hard, too because that conditioning makes me want to obey you.”
Red choked.
Lance seemed to be enjoying this too much, Red decided as he tried to un-muddle his thoughts.
Concentrating, he floated out of the water and landed.
“See? No more scales.”
Red had to admit that that was true. Smooth, unmarred pale skin met his eyes. He hastily looked away, trying to suppress a hot flash of lust.
Damn… he was going to lose his mind at this rate…
Lance inwardly beamed. Finally, he was going to get laid! This Red was clueless, generally nice, and hadn't really fought him at Cerise, so he was an acceptable candidate.
His cute looks helped too.
Also, he hadn't been deliberately evil while Lance had been in pokemon mode, so he had passed an unwritten, unplanned test, but a test nonetheless.
Even better, that annoying electric rat was gone.
Lance purred.
“Um… well, I guess I should be flattered.” Red finally managed, trying in vain to banish the roses blooming prettily over his pale cheeks.
“You're such an adorable child.” Lance laughed. “It's quite endearing.”
“Really?”
“I have no reason to lie to you, and I can't lie - conditioning again, you see.” Lance wrapped his arms around Red's waist with a fond smile.
“I… see…”
“Don't worry, I won't do anything you don't want me to. The question that remains is, what do you want?”
“I'm too young!” Red burst out. “I'm…”
“I know. That's why I'm not doing anything.”
“I see.” Red took a deep breath. “So you're… not going to evolve anymore?”
“I'm not sure on that,” Lance shrugged. “We'll see.”
Red procured his pokedex and pointed it at Lance to get a better idea of what he was dealing with.
This time, the information was much more detailed.
Pokemon Name: Genie
Type: Dragon/Ghost
Level: 46
Attacks Known: Softboiled, Thunderwave, Hypnosis, Twister, Night Shade, Dream Eater, Dragon Rage, Hyper Beam
Happiness Level: It couldn't possibly be happier
“… I guess that's good.” Red said. He forced a smile and decided that he should just ignore all his lustful thoughts. Yes, that would work.
… Right?
Lance seemed completely oblivious to the trainer's inner turmoil, but he was snickering inside.
Foolish boy. Did he really think the empathic link only went one way? If so, he was sorely mistaken…
Besides, Lance's Viridian Power let him read minds… he had kept it of course. How else could he have evolved into a pokemon?
His father must be a dragon-type then…
He had been unaware that pokemon and humans could interbreed, but now it seemed fascinating. However, he wasn't about to go jump his Dragonite. There was such thing as size difference.
Lance closed his eyes and waited for Red to give him an order. There was a soft snick sound as his fingernails lengthened, tapered to sharp points. They were also ivory white. Fascinating.
It didn't hurt. He had assumed it might, but no, there was no pain. The claws extended to a length of four inches. Wicked sharp, they cut through grass with a barely audible sound. Interesting...
Yes, he could certainly get used to this.
Perhaps now he could learn Slash and Scratch and all those other attacks that required claws… the Cut HM, for example, and Fury Cutter…
Speaking of which, Red hadn't taught him any TM or HM moves. That might need to be remedied.
He already knew there was little chance of changing back, what with the vitamins Oak had fed him and the poke ball conditioning… but honestly, did he care? No.
Red spotted a Ponyta and remembered that he did not have any yet. Also, Professor Oak was thinking of redistributing his pokedexes. That simply would not do.
Perhaps if he captured some more pokemon for the professor, than Oak would let him keep his. It was worth a try.
By the end of the day, Oak had received a Tangela, a Ponyta, a Rapidash, a Golbat, a wild Poliwhirl, and a Machoke.
He was surprised, but glad Red was contributing to his research. Red decided that that was enough for now.
He could wait…

Lance: So Red finally figured out I was a genie?
Phantomness: Yep!
