Chapter 8: Two in one combo + More
Lance landed as she looked around. Narrowing her eyes, she found out exactly who was trying to open the gates.
Without preamble, she flung the doors of the house open as a blizzard roared into existence.
Damien screamed, dropping the jar of pickled eels Bob had ordered by mail for his magic ritual.
“Where is he?” Lance asked.
Damien attempted to run, but Dragonair caught him easily.
“I'm only asking you once.” Lance said. “Where is Bob?”
“I-Inside…” Damien coughed, wanting to get away.
“Good enough.” Lance said. The pathetic groveling worm of a servant took to his heels and ran like the wind.
Lance calmly stalked into the next room.
Bob didn't look up as he continued stirring random potion ingredients into a huge kettle.
“You make a poor witch, Traitor-Priest.”
“You!” Bob shrieked, grabbing his Rod and summoning Nightfyre to defend himself.
Lance rolled her eyes. “Dragon Master, I summon you!”
Her own Kaa flared into being, as the red-haired, golden-eyed, and steel-clad guardian tore into Nightfyre, easily vanquishing it.
“Now.” Lance said. “With the power of the Millennium Ring, I can summon more creatures… Dragonite and Gyarados.”
The two dragons held Bob still while Lance disposed of the ritual he had been attempting.
“Hm.”
“You can't do this to me!” Bob cried.
“And why not?” Lance asked, rolling her eyes. “You were the one practicing blood magic.”
“So?”
“It's illegal?” Lance asked, looking heavenwards again.
Bob whipped out the dagger hidden in the Rod and charged.
Lance jumped up out of the way and flared the Ring's power, trapping Bob against the wall.
“I'm getting very bored here.”
“Damn you!”
“Thanks, but I don't need it.” Lance said, checking her watch. “Well, before I waste any more time toying with you.”
“Porygon2, Conversion…”
Bob screamed as his magic was sealed. “You'll pay!”
“Maybe, but not now.” Lance said, summoning Dragonite and taking off. “See you.”
She took off.
“That was easy enough, what was Gary warning us about?”
No idea.
Maybe there is something else, mistress?
Maybe… Lance considered. * More danger? Well, I can deal with it. * She felt the ring settling down, as she kept a handle.
It was bloodthirsty unlike her Tauk, but the items could work together, and that was the way things were.
Or…. Wait… no, all the items had been claimed, hadn't they? So why would there be any danger?
Besides the odd assassins from Kush, they were done.
Right?
Of course, Fate wasn't always fun to play around with. She sighed and flew off. Well, we will deal with things when they come.
Yes, we deal with everything when it comes. That's the way it is. This isn't the future I envisioned, but I can't see all anyway.
I wish…
I wish we were safe, and alone, and there were no one to break us apart but the chances of that happening, is probably…
Oh, one in a billion, and even with lives to play around with that's different!
She sighed again.
She sighed again.
A Dragonite flew overhead. Lance's mood brightened, she reappeared atop it and they were off.
Ash was waiting.
No words were really needed, they just held each other as the wash of centuries passed over them in sands of time.
Really, why be complicated about it now?
I have love. I can deal with the future.
Bob's gone, he's more of a pest than trouble either way.
The sacrifices are over, and the past is the past.
We are through, we are finished, it is over; you see the stage curtain has fallen so now its time to take a bow. It is over! Over! No more looking back to lost sands.
No more what might have beens.
No more foolish wishes.
We can deal with the future when it comes.
There is no more to be said.
Charlotte smiled, the Eye flashing in one socket as she smiled, releasing the soul card tablets.
Several people appeared, dressed in ancient garb.
“Pra-A!” [1]
“Ash!”
“Aneki!”
“You?” Ash let go of Lance as he looked startled. “Father? And your advisors… what? How can you be here?”
“Wishes, dear son.” Giovanni said proudly. “Your sister does have a head on her shoulders.”
“You sealed our own father?!”
“He would have died in three minutes or so, either way. I thought it would be safe.” Charlotte said proudly.
Ash looked around wide-eyed. “It's like a dream.”
Lance pinched him, and Ash yelped. “Ow!”
“Not a dream I presume.”
“But you have the Ring now! Won't that affect you?”
“I have the Tauk too, remember? And this is our second chance, we might as well make the most of it.”
Ash nodded, that had been along the train of his thoughts; only he had mused it to be selfish. Still… if she agreed.
As the small throng of people swept them along, it didn't really matter. The future was theirs to chase and grab, and that was that.
The End
Hmm, happy ending! Yay!

Finished after hours of orchestra practice when the plotbunny revived itself. ^-^
[1] I think Pra-A means pharaoh in Egyptian…or something close to it. I'm not Egyptian either, unfortunately.
Well, enjoy!
