Pokemon Fan Fiction ❯ Return of the Sacred Sword ❯ The End ( Chapter 6 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Another part! Maybe one more and then I can do the ending… I'm actually boring myself. That's not good… but I'm sick of action!

Chapter 6

A week later, Ash is free, and Erika accepts his praise modestly.
He hates Lance for taking so long to come up with a plan, and his angers explodes into an inferno after their last battle.
He used Lorelei's pokemon to help, her Lapras and Jynx and Dewgong, and though Lance does not scold him, afterwards he finds the Dragon Master watching him with a strange expression.
Perhaps suggesting that they go out for drinks to help unwind isn't a good idea…

He gets roaring drunk, and so when he wakes up in bed with Lance the next day and has vague memories of Lance petting his hair and calling him Lorelei, he feels sick.
Sure, he has her pokemon, but he isn't her!
Still, he has to admit that it didn't hurt, and he feels almost happy.
Can sex do that to someone? He can't remember what it was like being with Misty, but it does… help, somewhat.
Maybe if he didn't hate Lance so much, it would be better.

< It didn't work. >
< That's surprising. > Aerodactyl crooned. < What's wrong? >
< He was supposed to hate me! >
< Well, he is stressed, and I doubt you'd rape him… >
< I did, or as close as it counted. >
The fossil pokémon frowned. < Well, you might as well just wait it out. You can't possibly hold on much longer. >
< You're right, love… >
< Will this be enough? >
< It must be… > Lance coughed, wincing. He tucked the handkerchief back away before the others could see the blood, but Ptera had sharp eyes.
< Master… >
< It hurts, Ptera. But if it will save Kanto - and Johto, then… >
< Then you will suffer. >
< Yes. >
< Master, why? Why must your fate be set in stone? Why can you not gain happiness? >
< The fate of the world is more important than my happiness. > Lance smiled, heartbreakingly sad, as he shook his head. < It is almost time. >
< Master… please… don't do this! >
< I'm sorry. > Lance repeated, and recalled Aerodactyl.

Somehow, the two of them wound up separated from the rest of the group. Lance's Aerodactyl kept an eye out for other Team Rocket agents, while Ash frantically tried to call Koga or Erika.
No response.
The unexpected Flash attack from a Kadabra blinded them both monetarily, and as something heavy slammed into his skull, Ash could only wince.
He blacked out seconds later.

Lance closed his eyes as he felt cards dance in his mind, calling the spirits. The entire Team Rocket force was wiped out, and not just the men here.
For he had used the secret attack of the Dragon Master to destroy them once and for all, so peace could come.
Chain Destruction…
His laughter echoed for a few moments, before he knelt down next to Ash.
“Be happy,” He whispered, pressing a faint kiss to the boy's lips. “Your dream will come true shortly.”
With that, he stepped away, careful not to get blood on Ash's clothing, and placed his hands to his chest, before he pulled.

It hurt, like fighting the sea at high tide and the bite of frost into his bones, but he clenched his teeth against the pain even as he collapsed to his knees.
He fought the Sword into being, and as the last of the blade appeared, he sighed; glad that it had succeeded, before his eyes slid closed and he felt his body disintegrate into sparkles.
This way, there would be no evidence left.
His duty was done.

Ash was mildly surprised to find the Sacred Sword lying there, and he recognized it at first glance, but as he picked it up, ignoring the droplets of blood scattered over the shining blade, he felt a sense of loss.
Why?
Was it because things were finally ending, and the adventures were over?
He wasn't sure.

It was not long before the others found him, and he was so elated at the news they brought, of Team Rocket's complete annihilation, that he completely did not noticed one was missing.
Bruno did, but concluded that Lance was just being sore and had not decided to show up.
Pfft.
Well, Ash had come out the victor, and he was very glad indeed, that this mess was over, and as Ash held the Sacred Sword aloft, they watched green waves spread over the land, changing barren rock into verdant grassland and forest, teeming with pokémon.
All the destruction had just melted away…

< Are you happy now? > His Father asked, even as he watched from afar, silversteel wings folded neatly against his back.
< I am content. > Lance replied.
< I wish it did not have to end this way. > Another voice spoke, the golden-eyed spirit with the wild hair.
< It is sad, but he is happy. Isn't that what matters most? >
She nodded, and they said no more.

Down below, Ash felt cold, but he didn't know why, and as he slipped into his dreams that night, woke up with tears on his cheeks and a hollow emptiness in his chest.
Where was Lance?
He didn't love him, but it would still be nice to make sure he was alive - maybe he could help set up a new League and Gym system!
When he asked the others if they had seen him, they shook their heads, and something in their eyes gave the answer away, though he knew not how. It was probably Team Rocket's fault anyway.
But… but…
For some reason, it makes his heart hurts, and he cries.
