Chapter 1

“Time…”
Lorelei shifted nervously as she stood behind Lance. Agatha and her ghosts kept watch for potential intruders. “Are you sure this is a good idea, Lance?” She asked. “What if… don't you think the Cerise plan is safer?”
“That would put too much pressure on Bruno.” Lance retorted. “I have found his behavior to be lacking as of late.”
“I see…”
“He may even defect. Has Agatha perfected her control bracelets yet?”
“No, not yet.” Lorelei flushed in shame as Lance raised a single coppery eyebrow. From the thin gold chain he wore around his neck, he took a single poke ball, which he enlarged. Lorelei sucked in a breath.
“You have a Master Ball!”
“Yes.” Lance grinned. “Agatha, are you prepared?”
“The barriers are done.” She nodded. “Well, let us proceed.”
Lance closed his eyes, and Lorelei raised the flute to her lips. From it's green glassy surface, a thrill of notes trailed out…
He sensed the forest rustle, and in that moment, the Master Ball left his hands. Serebii cried out in shock, but was captured.
Agatha smiled knowingly. “Well, you did not even need my barriers, Lance. I daresay it was not expecting that.”
Lance nodded. “Imagine… we hold the power of time and space in our hands… so where ought we head to now, Agatha?”
The old woman smiled, and began to speak… and Serebii obeyed, because the Master Ball had broken her will in a remarkably short span of time.
Time shifted.

Red yawned as he woke up. Something tugged at the back of his mind, but it was mild, and he happily climbed out of bed with a yawn. The smell of fresh pancakes was drifting through the air, and he showered and dressed quickly before he headed downstairs, taking two steps at a bound.
“Morning!”
“Good morning.” Lance said, as he slid a steaming stack of chocolate chip pancakes in front of Red. “Did you sleep well?”
“Very well, Father.” Red grinned up at his father beamingly. Golden eyes surveyed him with a fond expression as he piled butter and honey and maple syrup on the pile. Lance poured him a glass of milk and sat down opposite from him.
“Today is an important day after all. You will be leaving on your pokémon journey. Eat up!”
Red nodded vigorously, pausing between bites. “I know, Father.”
“So tell me, Red, are you nervous?”
“Not really.” Red chirped happily.
“That is good. Now, you will be taking Poli with you.”
“Of course! I could never leave him behind! He was the very first pokémon I caught, after all!”
“Good.” The Dragon Master. “And what about the other? What about…”
Red frowned. “You mean Aeroy? But Father, I can't take your Aerodactyl!”
“Why not?”
“Well… you'll need him here with you, won't you?”
Lance shook his head. “Hakuryuu and my Gyarados will be sufficient. I would feel safer knowing that you were well protected on your journey.”
Red could not argue against that logic, so he nodded and turned back to his food. After he was full, Lance kissed him good-bye and handed him his sleeping bag and knapsack.
“Good luck, Red. Remember to call me if anything comes up.”
“I know.” Red hugged his father impulsively, grinning, and then ran up the hill to Professor Oak's lab.

Oak was waiting, looking impatient. “You were supposed to be here half an hour ago!”
“I was? You said ten P.M. but it's only nine forty-five.”
“It is?” Oak blinked. “Blasted Daylight Savings time. I forgot to reset my clock.”
“Well.” Red nods. “So…”
“Yes, Red. Go ahead and pick a basic pokémon.” Oak yawned. “As you know, you can choose any basic pokémon I have available. They're all on that shelf over there.”
“All right.”
“And it's one thousand pokeyen extra if you want more.”
“Right.”

Red searched around, plotting. Lorelei had ice and water type pokémon, and Grandmother Agatha had poison and ghost types… so if he really wanted to help the Elite Four, as Father promised he could when he proved his worth as a trainer, he could join them.
But it would be good to find something to specialize in.
He considered. He had Poli, and Father's Aeroy… so perhaps he ought to try for a water group.
But then he would crossover with Lorelei.
Or he could not specialize at all, and just build up a strong team of pokémon… that fit much better.
Then he'd need something different from water or rock/flying.

Perhaps grass? Or fire? Well, there was so much to do and so little time. He closed his eyes.
What would Father do in this situation?
Well…. Father would probably use his power to read the pokémon's minds, and find one that fit with him, but Red did not have the Viridian Power.
He was a bit empathic, though; so he closed his eyes and stood in the middle of the lab, trying to feel.
There…
That poke ball over there…
He smiled. That was it. He closed his hand over it, feeling a small thrum of power.
Oak blinked. “So you've chosen that pokémon? Very well. Here is your starter pack, compliments of Silph Co.”
Red accepted the two potions and five poke balls with a smile. “Thank you, very much, Professor Oak.”
“Good luck!”

New bunnies, yay!
Now a new adventure is beginning…
Shoyko: Please no darkfic! Please?
Lance: I doubt she'll promise you anything.
Phantomness: I cannot help it if the plot runs away1
Red: *Eats a snow cone* so, we're back into the incest boat, ne?
Lance: It could be pseudo-incest… I might not be your genetic father!
Phantomness: Oh! And `Tokei' means watch/clock in Japanese! At least that's what I learned in class. According to the dictionary, it can also mean `Penal servitude.' Fascinating…
