~1st Encounter~
What was it about the street courts that called to them? It was like a Siren, a mythological beast that you couldn't hear with your mundane ears, but penetrated your very being, called to your soul...
Yuuta resisted the desire to sigh. He was getting all mushy in the head again--it was a good thing he was so good at keeping his mouth shut most of the time or others would begin to wonder even more about him.... He pushed the thought away, instead preferring to focus on the scene unfurling before him.
The tennis courts were busy today. Somehow, these street courts had become a sort of unspoken but agreed upon hangout spot for various members of rival tennis teams... You could have put together a completely new tennis team simply from the members of rival teams who played together so often here... It was an interesting idea, to be sure. Maybe he'd mention it to Mizuki later.
It would have to be later because currently his friend and trainer had managed to coax his brother onto the courts for a match. One made all the more interesting because they had decided to play doubles, and since that loud-mouth from Seigaku was busy shouting back and forth at the annoying firebrand from Fudomine, and Hyotei had yet to show up (although, they no doubt *would*, the show offs), and Yuuta just was *not* going to get involved when it was a matter between his brother and his senpai, that left the crazy Fudomine and Seigaku's brat to play doubles.
It was actually quite interesting to watch his brother play doubles--even if he'd seen it a million times before, he never really tired of watching his brother play tennis--with the arrogant brat, but he found his attention commandeered more and more by the person sitting next to him.
Tachibana An.
Like all girls, she was a mystery to him. Unlike all girls, Yuuta actually found himself interested in finding out what it was that made this girl tick. She was different from other girls, and it wasn't just because she was into tennis. No, there was just...something... different.
"I always kinda thought you had a thing for one of those two..." He didn't know where the words had come from and was immediately embarrassed for speaking them aloud.
"Akira and Shinji?" she asked, tilting her head just that little bit that told him she was watching him now, instead of the game playing out on the courts before them. And then, suddenly, she was laughing--a light and amused sound that sort of tickled his insides. "Now *there's* a thought, mmm, both of them... Ah, but, that would be like having some weird fixation on my brother or something...."
She shot him a knowing look and watched with amusement as his face, neck, and ears all colored. He stuttered, but she just smiling right into his face. "Ne, Yuuta-kun, are you thirsty? I am. Let's go get something to drink."
It wasn't a request, even though he tried to decline. She seemed to really like getting him flustered and tongue-tied... Unfortunately, that wasn't very hard for her to do.
"But---what about--" he started when her fingers slid around his wrist and just tugged him along after her.
"Don't worry about your brother and Mizuki--they're only fighting over you, and they can't really put up much of a show if you're not there to watch, ne?"
"Nnmgh," he grunted, frowning--
Ann stopped suddenly, catching him unawares, and he nearly ploughed her over. As it was, he stumbled into her before catching himself. He hastened to apologize, blushing again when Ann turned on him and caught him in one of those assessing looks of hers. She was close, practically right in his face--Yuuta thought he could feel her breath against his chest and neck...
"Ne, Yuuta-kun, are you and Mizuki going out?" she asked bluntly.
Blink. More coloring--was that even possible?--before a choked out response of, "What?!"
She leaned back, still watching carefully. "Going out, you know. Dating, fooling around, involved in a special relationship, friends with benefits--"
"But--we're both boys!"
It was Ann's turn to blink, and then she laughed again. "You say that like it should make a difference--"
"Because it does! Boys don't--I mean--"
She was laughing at him. "You are so dense sometimes, Yuuta-kun. It's cute."
"What are you talking about?" he groused, not amused at being the punch line of a joke he didn't understand.
"Mmm... tell me, Yuuta--" and there she was again, right back in his personal space, breathing down in his throat-- "If not Mizuki--or someone from your team--is there anyone you *are*...with...?"
Was it his imagination, or was she getting closer...?
And when exactly had she backed him up to the brick wall next to the cola machines?
"Uh--"
Holy--was she *leaning* *into* him? Were those her... uh, was that her... chest, pressing against him, and her breath--Shit! If she pressed any closer she was going to find out--
Yuuta groaned, his hands moving to Ann's hips, fingers digging into the tender flesh as he tried to hold her back, away, but it was already too late. She had already felt Yuuta's very physical reaction to her proximity.
"Thinking of someone else?" she queried, pressing her thigh into his crotch and purring. "Or me?"
"Ann--" he gasped, managing to push her away a little for the air to attempt to rush between them. "You shouldn't--I mean--don't you--you're not supposed to--auh, shit!" the sandy haired blond gave up.
Ann grinned. "Nee, Yuuta, let's go someplace else, hmm? Grab something to eat, hang out... talk," she suggested, stepping further away from him, but not before catching his hand in hers, threading their fingers together until their palms kissed.
Yuuta looked away, blushing madly, but after a few steps, they were walking even instead of him being pulled along. And he didn't try to remove his hand.
And that was how it started.
