This starts right after Ashitaka is cursed and he has just been chucked out of his tribe.

Ashitaka waited outside the forest to say good bye to his friend, the forest guardian. She had saved him once when he was a child and they had been friends ever since.

A rustle came from one of the trees and a woman jumped down. She was tall and had silver gray hair that cascaded down her back. Her large golden eyes illuminated green in the night. Her tall form dressed in a black hakama and gray and white haori barely visible in the shadows of the forest.

“Who are you!” He shouted.

The woman chuckled and stepped out in to the moonlight. “Ashitaka, that hurts. You do not recognize me?”

He smiled back when he realized who she was. “Hey, I'm glad I can talk to you one last time. I have to leave and-”

“I know, and I'm sorry. I couldn't save you this time.” She sighed. “I'm going to come with you.”

“What? Why, it's not your fault...”

“So? I can't stay here anymore. A male from the fox tribe came and took over. I've had enough of being a protector and if you go, I'll be alone.”

Ashitaka smiled and nodded. “Fine, let's go. I need to be gone before sunrise.”

They left and together they traveled over mountains and through streams. Demerin would catch deer and small game for them to eat when they stopped and Yakul and Ashitaka shared the rice.

Occasionally, Demerin would ride on Yakul's rump behind Ashitaka and laugh at what Yakul had thought about his master and friend.

----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------

“Sit boy!”

Koga started laughing until Kagome looked at him menacingly.

Sesshomaru just stood away from the group, watching the annoying antics of his half brother and the miko.

“I'm going back and that's final!” Kagome shouted at Inuyasha.

“Why don't you take us with you?” Rin spoke as she pulled on Kagomes skirt.

Kagome looked thoughtful. “You know Rin, that is a good idea. Come on everyone, let's go to my time!”

----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------

Demerin was riding on Yakul's rump again when they came upon a village. There was screaming and the smell of blood was thick in the air.

“Is a battle...” Ashitaka said as they watched from atop the hill.

“No, it's a massacre.” Demerin shook her head before nearly falling off when an arrow clipped of a strand of her hair. “Run! The samurai saw us!”

Yakul reared when another arrow flew by his head. “GO!”

More arrows flew by and Ashitaka rode off, leaving Demerin standing there. “I'll see you in the next village!” He called back to her.

“All right!” She called in return. As soon as he disappeared around the corner, she pulsed and changed into a giant three-tailed wolf. “Die, you pigs!”

Suddenly, several powerful auras appeared. “What the hell?” Some of the samurai cried while others screamed in agony as a large blinding light enveloped them. Moments later, when the light cleared, she noticed the samurai had been completely destroyed.

----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------

Ashitaka rode hard along the road past the village, but more of the samurai saw them.

“Stay back!” He shouted to the men as they rode after him.

They continued after him and Ashitaka drew back his arrow and his arm started to move on its own. He fired, taking off the mans head and another arms.

The other samurai stopped when they saw the dead men and Ashitaka rode off.

“What?” Demerin asked her self as her strong nose began to pick up strange smells. “Three dogs, a wolf, a cat, a dragon and a fox? All demons.”

She changed back to her human forma and walked toward the demon scent, which came from a cloud of dust.

“Who's there?” A female voice called from dust cloud.

“Wind scar!” A male voice yelled.

The same light from before appeared and engulfed her. When it dissipated, nine people stood in front of her along with a cat and dragon. Four were humans.

“You're not even hurt!” One of the dogs, which had a large sword, cried.

“Um, was I supposed to be?” Demerin asked confused. The light had only tickled.

“What are you?” The tall dog said.

“Demons, do not question me. Now, what are you doing here and what did you do to them?” She stated.

One of the human girls stepped forward. “I'm Kagome. I was wondering if you could tell us where we are?”

“You are in Japan.” She looked at the girl like she was crazy.

“The hell we are!” The dog with the sword yelled again.

“I'm leaving. I have better stuff to do than talk to a bunch of demons.” She began to walk away when she felt a hand on her arm.

“Please, will you help us? We aren't from here!” The young girl, kagome, pleaded.

“Fine. You may come with me. We are going to the Forest Spirits realm.” She started walking again and the others followed her. “Demon, the one that asked me what I was, that information is not for you to know. You are not very trusting are you?”

When he didn't answer, the human male spoke. “He does not talk much.” He walked up next to her. “I was wondering, would you bear my child?”

Before Sango, one of the other humans, could get to him, Demerin stopped and glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. “I am incapable of bearing a human's child.” Demerin continued walking.

Miroku stood there in shock. Only two other girls had turned him down...

“Miroku, wake up.” Inuyasha shouted at him.

“Poor Miroku.” Shippo, the young fox, whispered to kagome and Sango.

Sesshomaru and Koga glanced at the girls.

“We're nearing a village. If you can, cover your markings, Sesshomaru.” Demerin spoke to the demon lord.

“How did you know my name?” He looked at the woman.

“I asked your dragon, Ah-Un.”

He stared at her before complying with what she wanted.

“Thank you. Now, let's go. I need to find someone.” Demerin entered the village.

The others followed quickly after.
