Chapter 17: Blastroids!
--------
Ranma sighed, closing his locker and tiredly leaning his head against it's cool surface. He didn't know why, but he had the feeling last night couldn't have possibly gone any worse even if the Almighty showed up and condemned him to hell for his actions. As he had feared, Nabiki and Wanda had told everyone his little secret. Degrees of shock ran rampant through most of the Brotherhood, not to mention disappointed looks from more then one member. Peitro looked at him as if he lost his mind. Fred looked at him as if he had betrayed some type of unwritten code with him when he screwed Jean. Toad had looked upset, but that seemed more from the fact he hadn't invited him to watch, the perv. He was beginning to rethink his stance on getting the little guys confidence up, he sure as hell seemed way to bold for his taste. Lance snorted, not finding it all that amusing, which wasn't surprising, the guy never found anything amusing. Tabitha, geesh, he doubted the Inquisition would have been as thorough as she had been in the questioning.
When she stopped questioning, and began examining his wrecked room, taking particular notice of the stained sheets, he had gotten the impression she was trying to imagine the act taking place. Weird girl, there could be no doubts of that. When she asked for a mock play of the events, he couldn't help but kick the girl out of his room. He received a rather rude awakening for all his efforts, Jaime bombs in the toilet going off just as he took a dump was not the best of ways to wake up in the morning. No sir, not the best at all.
"I'm gonna kill her one of these days." he grunted, slamming his fist up against the lockers. He wasn't so much as angry at her, but angry at Nabiki for going off and talking about that. "We're gonna have words, Nabs, long words.. words I can't even think of yet, but oh just you wait, we'll have em!"
"Ranma?"
He blinked, pulling his head back and gazing blearily to his side. Scott. What the heck did he want? "Scott.." he grumbled.
"Hey.. you okay? Look constipated." Scott eyed the guy, curiously.
He couldn't help but snort at that, "Don't ask. Jus.. don't ask." Tabitha's going to pay for her 'Blastroids'
"Heh." Scott grinned, leaning up against the lockers. "So..."
Ranma eyed the guy weirdly, before rolling his eyes. "What is it?"
"Heh.." he chuckled, rubbing the back of his head, "Just wanted to congratulate you."
"Ah.. for?"
"Rogue. Heard your taking her to the dance."
Ranma blinked. "Eh.. told you did she?"
"Well, no." he admitted, "She told Kitty, who told Kurt, who told Evan, who told everyone else, who told me." he grinned, giving the guy the thumbs up, "You don't have any idea how much she's been needing some one like you. I won't lie and say she hasn't wished for something like this to happen, just glad her dreams come true."
Ranma scratched his head, "Eh.." he frowned, "You sayin somethin, somethin I'm missin or not understandin here.."
"Uh." Scott blinked. Whatever gave him that idea, "I'm just telling you how much Rogue's been waiting for some one like you."
"Like me?" Ranma hmmed a second, then waved the guy off, "Whatever. Gotta go, don't wanna be late for class." he wobbled away. Damn his ass hurt.
---
"I think you took this a bit too far, Tabs." Toad grumbled, eyeing the empty seat in-between Nabiki and Emma. Ranma had pissily refused to sit with them this morning, or more to the point, with Tabs. Couldn't really blame the guy, no one ever wanted to wake up via an exploding toilet.
Nabs grinned, "Maybe she did, but the look on the guy was priceless!"
Tabitha chuckled lightly, "Oh yeah, he isn't forgetting that any time soon."
"He looked pretty pissed." Fred grumbled, feeling like a total heel. He had nearly laughed his ass off when the guy came running out, ahem, wobbling out of the bathroom screaming bloody murder.
"He's pissed?" Peitro scowled, glaring at the X-men table. "I'm so damn disappointed I could freaken throttle the guy! Doesn't he know what he's done?!?"
Emma smirked, biting off sarcastically, "I think he knows what he's done, doubt he'll forget it anytime soon."
Lance snorted, but said nothing. So he had been shocked to discover the guy had banged Jean. Good for him, bad for Rogue he supposed. Well, if she ever found out. He sure as hell wasn't going to say a word, he'd much rather stay alive thanks.
"Pfeh, you guys don't get it, do you?" Peitro snorted, "Buncha amateurs. The whole lot of ya."
Wanda rolled her eyes, "Oh, dear brother. Grace us with this infinite wisdom of yours.. just why was what Ranma did so bad?"
"Idiot picked a girl like Jean of all people." he scowled, leaning in close, "I bet she's going to play it off as some 'mistake' or, heh, better yet, she'll try to keep it hidden. She'll use the fact they boned to keep boning the guy, until she's finished her succubus dance and lured him to those blasted X-men! Mark my words!"
Wanda blinked.
Tabitha blinked.
Fred scratched his head, curious.
Emma blinked.
Toad choked on his milk.
Lance raised an eyebrow curiously.
Nabiki snorted, "Yeah, sure. Xavier's resorting to pimping out his kids to recruit people. Oh, why couldn't I've seen this before now? Oh me, oh my, what ever are we going to do?" needless to say she was being quite sarcastic.
Peitro obviously didn't recognize it as such, nodding, "Damn right. Just you watch it, I bet Kitty's going to bang Lance over to their side. There's no stopping it now!" he grinned, "Why, I bet they'll even get Kurt and Evan in on it." she eyed Nabiki, "Hmm.. Evan likes you, I think." then he glanced to Wanda, "And Kurt.. I don't think he can get his eyes off of yer ass."
"'Bro', shut up, or I'll kill you." Wanda hissed.
Lance scowled, "One more word, and we'll shake things up."
"Hey hey! Calm down!" Peitro chuckled nervously. Damn his sister couldn't be freaky. Thankfully he could always outrun Lance, but Wanda's Hex magic had one hell of an impressive range. "Just sayin, I've seen him doing it."
---
Jean sighed, idly picking at their morning breakfast. Hank had kept her in the medical bay all night, performing weird test after test. He had kept her so busy down there she hadn't risen until it was already too late to enjoy the home cooked breakfast Storm usually whipped up. Now she was stuck eating the less then satisfactory cafeteria food. She couldn't help but wish Ranma wasn't immune to Rogue's power. While she felt little animosity towards the girl for the cards fate had dealt them, she still realized it sucked. There was a guy she had given herself too in full, been intimate with. All she wanted to do now was reach out and grab him for herself, but she wasn't allowed. She couldn't dash Rogue's only hope, and she realized that.
"Whoa.. you serious?" Risty blinked.
Rogue grinned, "I eva lied to you, Ris?"
Jean glanced at the girls. Well, Rogue certainly seemed happy. She was glad for her, whatever the reason was. If she ever found out about what happened between her and Ranma, bet she could kiss that happy grin goodbye. It was better that no one told her, let her enjoy herself.
"But.." Risty stuttered, surprised, "I thought you said you weren't ever going to ask him out again? Now all of a sudden you're taking him to the dance?"
Jean blinked. What the..
"Heh.. had a change of heart." Rogue smirked, "Ranma really is one of a kind.. might jus be the kind I've dream about." she finished a little cryptically.
"What?!?" Jean barged into the conversation, surprising the two girls, "Uh.. Ahem.. what was that Rogue? Who are you taking to the dance?"
Rogue eyed the girl weirdly. "Ranma.."
"Oh.. wow." she forced herself to smile happily for the girl, "Ah.. good for you."
"Gee... thanks."
Calm down girl. You knew this was going to happen sooner or later.. just not so damn soon!
---
Ranma peered back and forth, slowly inching his way down the crowded hallways. His ass wasn't hurting so much anymore, thank god for accelerated healing, but even that wasn't enough to keep him from walking around like a gimp. Take it slow, head straight for Speech, and get in yer chair before anyone realizes anything is wrong with you. Yep yep, don't give up now Ranma old boy. You can do it! Yes! There's the door! Your almost there!
Just as he was about to enter the class, he found his hand grabbed, and quickly being yanked back and away from the door like a madman. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! He was so close!
"Ranma!" Jean hissed, pulling him around the corner. She had taken a big risk grabbing him like that, as everyone on the team knew he shared fourth period with Rogue. She didn't even want to think about how she would react if she had witnessed her pulling the jock around like that. "We have got to talk!"
"No!" he whined, "No I was almost there.. so close.. so.. damn.. close."
"Oh for the love of god, Listen to me!" she scowled.
Sighing, he slumped over, "Fine. My ass isn't that important anyway.." he grumbled. Standing back up, he eyed the girl annoyed, "What the heck's wrong now?"
"When were you going to tell me you were taking Rogue to the dance!" She stamped her foot down, looking thoroughly peeved.
"Eh.." he shrugged, "She only asked me yesterday, y'know. Why? Eh.." he blinked, "You weren't goin to ask me, were ya?"
"Well.. no." she lied. She wouldn't have asked him, not since Xavier laid down the law, but she had been caught off guard by the sudden flip flopping of the guy's loyalties. She didn't doubt he cared for her, after all they had done last night, she couldn't even imagine him not caring for her. "Just.. I.." she sighed, "Just wanted you to know.. uh.." Oh god, this was going to hurt. Him more then her, she knew it. "I.. totally approve of the two of you being together like.. uh, like this."
Ranma blinked. Approved of them? What crack was this girl smoking? It was just some dumb little dance. Geesh, it's like she expected him to be hurt by her choice. "Ah.. thanks." he sighed. She dragged him away from class for this?!? "Musta been real tough for you to admit that.." he grimaced. He had actually meant to bite that off sarcastically, but his ass was hurting something fierce.
"I.. you know I care about you." she sighed, "But.. Rogue.. she needs you.. just, promise me you'll give her a real chance? Don't think about what we did, forget it if you think it'll help her.. promise me?"
"Eh.." Geesh, what was with all the melodrama? He shrugged, "Fine. Can I go to class now?"
"Don't.. don't hate me for this.." she whimpered as she watched him slump down, obviously depressed. Hell, he looked so sad, he wasn't even walking straight! "I'm.. I'm sorry." she turned around, holding her hand to her eyes as she walked away. She wouldn't cry, she wouldn't cry. Oh why did it hurt so much?!?
"Damn it." Ranma scowled as his pencil fell to the ground. He debated momentarily about picking it up, before snorting and leaving it be. His ass was more important then that stupid pencil. "Hey Jean, you got an extra pencil.." he blinked. Where the heck did she go?
---
Ranma struggled into the room, nearly five minutes late. On second thought, trying to get that pencil had been a bad, bad move on his part. His ass was hurting now, and hurting bad!
Thornstad sighed, "Five minutes late Ranma, five minutes after class." she motioned to the back of the class, "Take your seat."
"Will do, Teach." he struggled down the isle. He was nearly half way there, but the pain was killing him. Looking up ahead, he noticed Nabiki staring at him weirdly. He might of thought she was concerned, but the maniacal grin spoke otherwise. Okay, screw this, he wasn't in the mood for a period of Nabiki's shit. Eyeing the chairs in front of Risty and Rogue, he grumbled, "Hey Teach? Think I can sit up here wit Rogue and Risty?"
Thornstad blinked. Ranma actually wanted to move up front? "Be my guest."
"Thanks." he hissed, sliding into his chair while doing his level best to ignore Emma's suddenly confused, and hurt expression. Nabs just rolled her eyes, but he didn't care about that right now. At least here he'd get some peace and quiet, he was reasonably sure Risty and Rogue wouldn't say anything to him..
"Hmmm." Risty grinned, leaning over and elbowing Rogue in the ribs, "If this isn't a masterful plan to sit near you, just to get to know you better, then I don't know what is." Obviously the guys wounds had to be fake! yes! Go Go Rogue!
Ranma face palmed. Be damned that girl.
---
At least there was one thing he loved about his mutation. Even though his ass had been ripped to shit by Tabs bombs this morning, by the time school had ended most of the pain had already gone. Yep. And now he just had to think of a way to return the ass reaming painful favor the girl threw on him. Damn.. this wasn't going to be as easy as he thought. At least, not today.
"Alright class." he grinned, devilishly, "Who here wants to tell Jean what's on the Agenda today.."
Jean blinked, "Umm.." He couldn't be using the training as a means of getting back at her, could he? No! He was just upset about everything. He must of realized how unfair she was being.. yeah. But still, Rogue deserved this chance! Yeah, that's it! "What's going on?"
Evan groaned, "We run."
Peitro snorted. Unlike the rest of the X-geeks, running was his life! Fifteen miles? No sweat. Thirty miles? Be tough, but he could maybe do it. "Let's get this show on the road." he pointedly looked Jean over, snorting, "You sure you can even run, all spread out like that?"
Scott blinked, "What the heck is that suppose to mean."
Peitro grinned, crowing as he pointed to Nabs and Wanda, "SEE! I TOLD YOU! DENIAL! DENIAL! SHE'S A SUCCUBUS!"
Jean blinked, quickly covering her cheeks at the boy's rather insulting remark. The fact she had blushed a little was not missed by Kitty, or Rogue, the girl just frowning weirdly.
"Oh give it a rest Peitro!" Ranma rolled his eyes, "Let's get this show going."
---
Lance grunted, following along after the main group as they rounded the mansion again. He never really realized how big Xavier's lawn was. Running around it twice equaled, or so Ranma said, a four mile distance. They had already run around twice, and already he could see serious fatigue sitting in on the others. Kitty was practically panting, he couldn't even imagine how she had survived up to this point. Scott, Evan, Kurt, and Logan seemed to be taking it in spade, but even he could tell the former three were hurting. Logan hurting was doubtful, lucky SoB with his regeneration, but that didn't mean he couldn't tire out.
Jean, well, Peitro was right in a way. He doubted anyone but him, Ranma, Peitro, and maybe Toad could see it, since they were all trained to detect such changes. At least, they were ever since Ranma forced them into it. Fred wasn't trained too much in that aspect, more like a walking tank. It was impressive he was still going though, with all that weight he'd imagine the guy would have fallen to the ground long long ago. Anyway, back to Jean. She was struggling, big time. Her face flinching every time her right foot hit the ground. Poor girl.
Rogue wasn't much better then Jean. Growing up segregated from other kids, she rarely found the need to actually work out hard like this. Being one of those lucky bastards with a super metabolism, he guessed the girl was really wishing she had focused more on her physical state then ever before. With the way she was wincing in pain at every step, he didn't doubt she'd drop soon, which meant Ranma would launch and attack all of them until she got back to her feet. That wouldn't be good..
Hmm.. Was there anyway he could avoid the girl falling like that? He didn't see how. Maybe if she got hurt Ranma wouldn't attack them? But hurt how... Kitty.. He grinned. Well.. two birds with one stone.. why not. Running up by the girl, he began to match pace with her. Rogue only barely realized he was running up beside her, far to busy with staying upright to even care. Which was why she didn't see a small ripple extend from his feet as they smacked the ground. At first they didn't do anything special, a small pebble shaking here or there, but as they rounded the bend, following the wall to a rather pot filled area, which he recently realized was Tabitha's fault when she had lived her. Girl got a littler carried away with her Jaime Bombs, which he could only thank his lucky stars for. With this plan, he had no doubt the girl would get hurt.
As they started over the pot holes, Rogue winced as her foot hit the edge of a rather nasty pot hole, unaware of Lance's nearly unnoticeable seismic tremors pushing against her foot. At the angle, she couldn't balance herself completely, and quickly fell to the side, her ankle snapping as she went crashing to the ground.
Ranma turned back as Rogue slammed into the ground. He was just about to attack everyone when he noticed her rolling on the ground holding her ankle, with the ever so slightest hint of tears in her eyes.
Kurt grimaced, "Hey! Wait up! Rogue's hurt!" Everyone started to slow down at that..
Ranma scowled, "Like hell. Extra five miles for that. Logan!" he snapped, "Peitro! Both of ya lead the group. I'll take care of Rogue!"
Kurt winced, especially when Jean, Scott, Fred, Peitro, Evan, Kitty, and even Logan of all people glared at him balefully. Oh god.
Lance smirked. So what was an extra five miles to avoiding an ass kicking, and getting Ranma and Rogue to spend some time together? Kitty better appreciate this.
"Kurt I'm going to skin you for this!" Kitty snapped, looking the very incarnation of a demon with the way her eyes burned like no tomorrow.
Okay, he'd just not tell her. Not for a long, long time.
---
"Oww, owowowowow." she cried, rolling on the ground, trying desperately to fight back the tears from her slip. The pain was excruciating, nearly mind blasting in it's intensity.
Ranma eyed the girl weirdly, before falling to his knees. "Yo, Rogue.. how bad does it feel?"
She glared at the bastard, "It ow! Feels like I can break it off and kill you with it! Ah! How do you think it feels?!?"
He rolled his eyes. Faster then Rogue could even see, much less track, his arms blurred. She felt numerous stinging pinches along her upper left thigh, which was weird, since almost instantly the pain from her ankle vanished. In fact.. she couldn't feel that leg at all, only a very faint dull echo of the pain she felt earlier! "What did you do?!"
Ranma peeled her hands away, snorting, "It's only temp. Dulls the pain, it'll only last ten, twenty minutes max." he carefully, ever so carefully removed her boot, peeling the sock off with it as well. Ouch. Just looking at it he knew it wasn't broken, but badly sprained? You bet it was. He reached up to her pant leg, gripping the hem before ripping it apart, tearing a long gash all the way up to her knee. Pushing aside the torn shreds of clothing, he moved himself a bit closer, "This.. might feel a little weird." he grumbled, picking up the nerveless leg.
Rogue winced from the movement. The pain was dulled, which she was very, very thankful for, but it still stung like a son of a bitch when he moved it! Just great. "How.. how bad is it?"
"S'not bad. Sprained, be fine in a few weeks." he grunted, carefully massaging the girls calf, working his way down. Massaging wasn't the right word, it was more like he was trying to detect if the girls bones had broken in some way you couldn't just see and realize.
Rogue grimaced, laying her head back on the ground tiredly. "Weeks? Man.." She sighed then. Weeks? Man, that really blew. What the heck was she going to do for weeks while the blasted thing healed? Wait.. WEEKS!? "No!"
Ranma blinked as the girl practically lunged up from where she had laid down to rest. She grabbed him by the shirt, shaking him, "No! The dance is this Friday! I'm not going to miss this damn dance!"
He frowned, "Rogue, yer damn ankle's sprained, and sprained bad. You aren't gonna be doing any dancing for a long ass time!" he snorted, "Seriously. What's so damn important about this dance?" She acted like it was the most important event in her life! Honestly.
"I..I" she grumbled miserably. "I.. wanted ta go.. with you." she answered truthfully, but with a bit of a depressed tone.
Ranma blinked, then chuckled. "Hey, don't worry bout none of that now. We can still go to tha dance.. just, well, .. we won't dance."
"Oh, that'll be real fun." the girl sighed, "Forget it. Maybe this is fate tellin me something..."
"What the heck does that mean?" he snorted, moving on to actually massaging the girls ankle. He could literally see it swelling up before his eyes. Better move quick and make sure nothings really broken on her.
"S'nothin.." she grimaced, miserably. "Think ya should find yerself another date.. some crap.."
Whoa. This girl could get depressed at the drop of a hat! A Fact which he found really really unnerving, "Whatever. If this is the way yer gonna be." he smirked when she eyed him weirdly. He didn't doubt she was expecting something along the lines of him leavin her to rot or some crap. "Then I'm gonna drag you kickin an screamin to the dance. Whether ya like it or not, yer goin kiddo."
Rogue said nothing more as he continued to massage her sprained ankle. She appreciated his stubbornness, his attempt to make her go out with him for the dance. Seriously, what would be the point? Going to a dance with a dance partner who couldn't dance? She blinked then, smirking inwardly. Who's to say she couldn't go to the dance? Hmm.. she'd need to 'talk' with Logan though.
---
Rogue sighed, lying in her bed. Ranma had spent the better part of an hour outside massaging her ankle before carrying her inside piggy back style. She appreciated it, and her foot really did feel better. It still stung something fierce, though.
"Kitty?"
Kitty groaned, lying on her bed. Ranma had only barely let them go ten minutes ago, and she was so damn beat she didn't think she had the strength to talk, much less do anything else. "Whbf."
"Kitty.. can you do me a fava?" Rogue bit her lower lip, nervously. If she wanted to go to the dance with Ranma.. she'd need to do this. Damn it.
"Whbf."
"Couldja tell Logan ta come here? I wanna talk wit him about somethin." she asked, rather nervously. Thankfully Kitty was far to out of it to see that. Grunting, she rose from her bed and glumly phased through the door.
---
Logan zipped up his jacket. Nothing like a night on the town for a beer and some pool to calm the ole nerves after one hell of a work out. He was just about to walk out the front door when Kitty came lumbering in, looking like a half dead zombie.
"Ragggue.. sai.. ya.." she mumbled, moving to the kitchen tiredly.
Logan blinked, trying to dissect that mumbjo jumbo.
---
"Eh? You ask ta see me?" Logan knocked first, before opening the door. He sighed, seeing Rogue lying on her bed, her hurt ankle resting on a pillow on the far side of the bed. She looked the picture perfect example of depression. He wasn't blind, despite his misgivings with the boy for doin what he done with Jean, he realized she really, really wanted to go with tha kid. Seein Ranma walkin away earlier pissed off, he realized he musta wanted to go too, that or he was upset Rogue had been so quick to throw in the towel.
"Ah.. can I ask ya for somethin?" Rogue sighed, pushing herself up slightly.
Logan grunted, walking over to the kid's bed. "Sure.."
"Lemme touch ya.." Rogue nervously asked, biting her lower lip.
Logan blinked. What the hell? "Uh? No?" Did she think he was insane? last time she did that, he was in bed for over a day recovering from all the pain his body succumbed too once his mutation was taken away.
"Only fer a second, no more. Just.." she pointed to her ankle, "Jus.. tha dance is important ta me Logan.. I really.." she sighed, "I really don't wanna lose this chance with him.."
Logan grimaced at that. Ah shit. "Uh..." he sighed. Like he said earlier, they were the kids he never had. Seeing one of em like this, looking at him with pleading eyes.. maybe in this way he was far too like that punk for his own good. "Fine.. I'm gonna regret this.. I know it."
---
Logan collapsed. Yep, he had already forgotten about the ungodly work out he had run through with the kids. Getting hit with the pain all at once had not been a good idea.
Rogue shivered as Logan's memories and power transferred over to her. She couldn't stop a grin from forming as the pain in her ankle faded instantly. Yes! She could go to the Dance! She was Healed!
She blinked. "Jean had sex with Ranma?" she muttered, shocked. Logan's memories..
Logan winced, hearing that. Oh yeah.. forgot.. oh shit.
---
To be continued (heh.)
Seeing as how I pumped this out in only an hour, I think it's pretty spiffy. Man, I'm tired. Work was killer. Worse then any other day of work has ever been, and only because of little cock sucking supervisors going around screwing us out of our lunch break so we could listen to his bitchy ass prattle about shit none of us cared about.
I hate people.

Oh yeah.. forgot.. oh shit.

Poll's unchanged from last chapter.
