Chapter 1

Curses and Revelations

 

“Damn it to hell!!”

 

These words were out of the lips of a handsome man with long, black hair in a pigtail. He was too angry to continue training so he sat with his back against a large tree.

 

Ranma Saotome was not smiling in fact he had not truly smiled or felt happy since ….

 

Well he could not remember when he was truly happy at all. Sure he laughed and smiled but with his life a living hell he could not truly be happy. Ranma was so wrapped in his own depressing thoughts and misery he wasn't aware of his surroundings. Ranma was surprised when he heard a woman's voice.

 

“Bad day, Ranma?” A soft female voice asked.

 

“Yep. Same thing again. Nothing I do makes her happy or satisfied.” Ranma said with a lot of bitterness as he looked at the beautiful woman. “So how was your day Shampoo?”

 

The beautiful Chinese Amazon with long violet hair smiled. This was their private spot where they trained in the art. Shampoo was amazed at her progress in the art and when Ranma mentioned where he got some of his techniques she laughed. Who would have thought anime and manga could be such good inspiration for techniques?

 

“It was ok.” She answered as she sat by Ranma. The Amazon didn't refer to Ranma as husband since he had a very long talk with her. It was amazing at what he truly thought of her.

 

Shampoo was ashamed that Ranma thought she was like Mousse. When he told her how he felt about the potions, magical items, and the fake cures she realized the truth of her behavior.

 

Since then Ranma had been a friend and it had truly been an eye opener to her. She learned that not all men are weak and some are truly powerful and strong. Little by little she learned about the true Ranma. She also realized that she was as trapped as Ranma. He by his worthless father and she by the laws of her tribe.

 

A man trapped by his own father, Genma Saotome in an act Ranma truly despises. Unknown to the two friends they were being watched by a third person. The third person was Nodoka Saotome. She was listening to them talk about their day and the martial arts. This was the third time she found them here.

 

Nodoka was listening to Ranma talk, truly talk about his feelings about Nerima. She was saddened to hear how Ranma felt about Akane.

 

She had heard that Ranma once loved Akane but she had destroyed that love with her mistrust and taking Ryoga's side in his fights with Ranma over and over again. Ranma had confessed that there was too much bad blood between him and Akane to ever have a happy marriage. Ranma had also stated that all the stuff Genma did on the training trip would destroy their relationship.

 

After eavesdropping on them the first time she had a talk with Nabiki about the stuff Genma did on the training trip. She was surprised and disgusted at what Genma had done to her son and their honor.

 

Nodoka quietly slipped away from Ranma and Shampoo knowing she had to help her son get away from this hell.

Four days later

 

Ranma was seriously considering in making a panda skinned rug out of Genma. Another person showed up claiming to be the fiancée of Ranma's.

 

When Ranma had seen this fiancée he flared his aura and told the person to get lost if he wanted to breathe easily. The person left.

 

Nodoka was there as well and she was being tempted into making the panda skinned rug as well. How could Genma do this again but with a man engaged to Ranma's girl form?

 

Both Genma and Soun blamed Ranma while Akane laughed at Ranma's humiliation of having a man as a fiancée. When Nodoka saw Akane laughing at Ranma's embarrassment she realized Akane didn't care about Ranma except as a toy for amusement.

 

Nodoka saw that Nabiki and Kasumi were showing signs of regret on their faces when they saw what happened. Nodoka quietly got up from the table and left the Tendo house.

 

She knew what had to be done and she knew it could cost her so much but she had to free her son from this living hell.

A week later

 

Nodoka had arranged for Ranma to be present at her rebuilt house when Shampoo came with an order of ramen.

 

“You two can drop the act. I've seen you two in the woods.” Nodoka said surprising the two young people.

 

“So you know.” Ranma stated with a hard look in his eyes.

 

“Yes I do. Though I don't understand why Shampoo talked like a airheaded bimbo during her stay her.” Nodoka said.

 

“It makes people underestimate her intelligence and talk more freely in front of her, mother.” Ranma explained knowing she wouldn't buy any acting from them. Nodoka nodded in understanding. “Now why are we here Mom?”

 

“You two are here for several reasons. The first is that I am so sorry for being a terrible mother for you Ranma.” Nodoka apologized to her son. “Had I realized how much I was hurting you by not knowing what Genma did to you I would have freed you from Genma's obligations.”

 

Both Ranma and Shampoo were shocked as they heard that. Nodoka knew what she said next would tell her if she truly lost her son's love for her.

 

“The second is tell you that Genma is not your biological father.” Nodoka quietly said.

 

“What!?” Ranma asked in shock.

 

“I was forced to marry Genma by my family through an arranged marriage. I tried to get out of it since I knew that Genma was basically an ugly and repulsive man but nothing I did worked. During the honeymoon Genma spent most of his time drinking with Soun celebrating he had married a `rich broad from a wealthy family' as he put it.

 

“I was crying my heart out because all my dreams of marrying a handsome samurai were ruined. It was during one of these crying sessions that I was almost mugged and raped in a park when a man named Katsuhito Masaki saved me. He saw how depressed I was and decided to help me.

 

“I told Katsuhito how all my dreams were ruined a foul and repulsive man named Genma and how he was spending the honeymoon drinking with Soun celebrating he had a rich broad as a wife. I was desperate for love and that night after he had saved me I seduced him and we made passionate love.

 

“You have to understand Ranma that I wanted to feel like I was beautiful woman and wanted to feel love and Katsuhito did so. We continued our affair for about two weeks after that night until Genma and I had to move away because of some unpaid bills Genma had but we still kept in touch with letters. However we didn't mention our affair in the letters in case Genma found those letters.

 

“A few months later I realized I was pregnant with Katsuhito's child and decided to keep the child. It was a reminder to me that I was a beautiful woman.” Nodoka paused and Ranma could see that she had to gather her courage to tell him this. “That child was you. You were so cute and rambunctious Ranma. You were the greatest joy of my life. It wasn't hard to trick Genma that he was your father and the rest you know except for one detail.

 

“Genma didn't have my permission to take you on that accursed training trip. He basically kidnapped you and stole all the money in the house. I went to the police but Genma had told them not to bother with my complaint since he was the husband of the woman and the child was his so her permission was not needed. Thanks to him I couldn't use the authorities to find you and put you in my care. I tried to get a divorce but I couldn't since Genma would still have you so I did nothing until rumors popped up about you.” Nodoka finished telling her story.

 

“It's alright mom. It's not your fault.”

 

“Ranma's right. It's that fat pandaman's fault.” Shampoo had tears in her eyes as she heard the story. It was taking all of her control not to go over there and gut a certain fat idiot. `Genma doesn't care that he almost ruined Ranma and Nodoka's life with his greed.'

 

“So why did you tell us this Mom?” Ranma asked. Shampoo was curious as well. What Nodoka did was completely unheard of.

 

“I'm going to set you free Ranma so you can decide your own life.” Nodoka said. `The reason I didn't do this earlier was that I thought the engagement between you and Akane could still work. That the two of you could overcome the obstacles and find love but with that man arriving and how Akane reacted to him being a fiancée to your cursed form I was just deluding myself.

 

“I've sent a letter to your father explaining what has happened.” Nodoka said. “I want you to go to his Shrine and get to know him. I also want his girlfriend to go with him as well.”

 

Nodoka smiled at their reactions. Ranma and Shampoo exchanged a passionate kiss that threatened to turn into something more when Nodoka coughed.

 

Ranma and Shampoo blushed as they straightened their clothing but she remained in his lap. They watched as Nodoka smiled happy that her son at least had a girl to love.

Masaki Shrine

 

Katsuhito Masaki's eyes widened when he saw the name of the person who sent the letter to him. He opened the envelope and started to read. His expression turned to deep anger as he continued to read the letter.

 

He was happy when his former lover told him about his son and how she found him after Genma kidnapped him.

 

He blinked then blinked again at what she was asking of him. He thought about this for a while and realized that he need to get to know Ranma and Ranma needed to know him.

 

Katsuhito had a grim look on his face as he walked to the house where Tenchi and the rest of the family lived. He had a lot of explaining to do.
