Chapter 2

Scene: a military base.

Some people were looking up on some information on a young man. They didn't know why their commander wanted the information but he must've thought it was important. So they gathered the information on the young man and headed out to meet up with their commanding officer.

"Well, what do you have?" He said, "He's just graduated high school and just completed a year long training journey." Said one of the officers, "he lost his father in a car accident and his mother's where about's are unknown." "May I ask sir, why did you have us look up this information?" Said a female officer. "Call it a hunch but I think he's on a mission and it's the same one we are on." He said.

Scene: On the way home

After showing off for the kids at the park, Ranma was on his way home. As he was walking he bumped into a young woman. She had platinum blond hair and blue eyes; she was in a black leather jacket and odd-looking jeans. Her midriff was exposed along with part of her legs. The martial artist immediately gave a small bow of apology. "Sorry, miss! I didn't see you coming."

The girl just looked at him once before smiling. "It's no problem, handsome. Actually, I think I'm glad I bumped into you."

Ranma blinked once. "You are?"

"Yep! It's not everyday I get to meet someone as well built and good looking as you are. You wanna go out sometime?" She smiled at him, Ranma started to sweat hard. "Don't you think we should get to know each other first?" He said, "I'll go first if it's alright with you?" She nodded, "hi I'm Ranma Saotome nice to meet you." "I'm Angel, nice to meet you too." They shook hands, "Madre Dios [1], please say you'll go out with me." `Now how can he say no to me?' She thought, Ranma was about to respond when all of the sudden they heard someone calling him. It was Lilly, Billy's sister she ran over to them with a box. "Hey Lilly," he said while hugging her. "How you doing?" "I'm fine thanks," she said. Then she handed him the box, stood on her tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek.

"That's for saving yesterday." She said Angel was in shock. ` This is the guy that beat Ryuuji Yamazaki? I have to make sure.' "Whoa, you beat Yamazaki?" She said, Ranma scratched the back of his head and smiled. "It was nothing." He said, the girls where in shock. "NOTHING?" They said, "yep I handle those type of jerks all the time. Now if you excuse me, I have to get going." He said, and then they started chasing after him. "Wait let me tell you about Yamazaki." Said Lilly.

Meanwhile a group of women were walking along just talking and shooting the breeze. The topic, Ranma of course. "Hey did you hear about Yamazaki got his butt handed to by some new bee?" Said King, "yeah I did. I heard he took him out within a minute." Said Yuri, "I wonder what he looks like?" Said Mignon. "Well, I for one am glad that justice had been served to Yamazaki." Said Chae, just then the object of their discussion had just walked up to them with Lilly and another young woman.

"Lilly, are you alright?" Said Mai, Lilly nodded to her. "Yes Mai, I'm fine. What are you guys doing here? Mai? King? Yuri? Kasumi? Chae? Mignon?" Lily asked. She directed the question to Mai, a tomboyish blonde in a tuxedo, an energetic brown-haired girl, a slender black-haired girl, a black haired girl in a tae kwon do uniform and a young pink haired woman in a magician's tuxedo.

"We just wanted to check on you. We saw you coming this way and decided to try and catch you. Who's the girl and the guy?" the tuxedo clad woman asked.

"The girl is Angel. The guy is Ranma Saotome." Lily introduced them to the girls that caught up to them. "You guys wouldn't be here to find the guy who beat Yamazaki, would you?"

"Guilty as charged." Yuri Sakazaki answered.

"Yes. We would like to find out more about him." Kasumi Todo added.

Behind them unnoticed to all Ranma put his head in his hands and groaned.

Scene: The manor

There was a knock at the door. "Hold on! I'm coming!!" Sara opened the door and was surprised to find four people standing there. And they had a military look on them. "Can I help you?"

"I was wondering if I could speak to Ranma Saotome," stated the one eyed man in a dignified manner.

"And you would be?"

"Commander Heidern."

Sara paused for a moment. She remembered the information given to her by Bast about the major characters on this world. If Heidern was already interested in Ranma, then perhaps it would make Ranma's mission easier. "He should be back from his training momentarily. Why don't you come in for some refreshments?"

"I wouldn't want to intrude, madam."

"It's no trouble at all, Mister Heidern. Come in!"

Heidern gave a small sigh. "Who am I to reject such hospitality?" He entered the home with his three subordinates behind him.

"What would you like to drink?" The commander noticed that there was a particular blend of coffee that his wife had been hooked on. He hadn't seen that blend of coffee for a while ever since Rugal killed her.

"I would like to have a cup of that Italian blend please."

Clark and Ralf both uttered a single word at the same time. "Beer."

Leona did not answer as she had her attention on something else. It was a picture in a frame. "Nothing for me, thank you."

Sara smiled at the photo that Leona was looking at. "Since Ranma was going to be living here, I wanted to start getting a few photos of him to add a little of his touch to the household." The photograph was of Ranma's calm expression. Sara had made sure not to include the food since it would be a little awkward to have a framed photo of a man having dinner.

"I see." She had a small blush on her face as she absent-mindedly caressed the photo. "He has such a nice smile." Her comrades did not notice as they were having their own small conversation.

Before Sara could get the drinks, there was another knock at the door. She opened it to see Ranma, surrounded by eight other females. "Uh, hi Auntie. I forgot my keys." He said.

Scene: Outside

Billy just reached for his cell and dialed in a number. He had noticed a little earlier the Ikari Warriors had entered Ranma's house. "Boss, I told you this before but I'll say it again." Billy said. "Boss, your nevah gonna believe this."

"What now Billy?"

"Heidern, Leona, Ralf, and Clark went up to the Saotome house and were invited in."

"Billy, you are wasting my time."

Billy gulped and continued speaking, "A few minutes after they showed up Ranma showed up with my sister, an unidentified white haired girl, Mai Shiranui, King, Yuri Sakazaki, Kasumi Todo, Chae Lim and Mignon Breat."

Billy heard his boss spit out wine and started to choke.

"Billy, I want you in there. Since your sister is in there you can just go through the front door."

Geese Howard disconnected and Billy just sighed thinking things can't possibly get any worse.

Scene: Before they got to the manor

"So you met him, right?" asked Mai.

"Yes. In fact, he's-"

Kasumi Todo cut off Lily. "Attractive? Nice?"

Yuri went next. "Come on! We need details here, Lily!! Like, did you get to see him fight at his hardest? Was he holding back against Yamazaki?"

"I can't say for sure."

Ranma had planned on telling them the amount of strength that he used on Yamazaki when King spoke. "Can he at least talk to girls outside of fighting?"

Yuri giggled. "I told you my brother was obsessed with fighting. He's itching to get a match against this new guy." At that Ranma perked up.

"Really? What's his name?" asked Ranma.

Yuri seemed puzzled. "Ryo Sakazaki."

Ranma smiled. "He seems like a worthy opponent. Can you tell him that I'm more than happy to give him a match? Anytime, anywhere."

Realization started to hit the four females. "Uh, sure."

He smiled again, inadvertently causing the ladies to swoon mentally. "Thank you. Now if you excuse me, I should be getting home. Because I am smelly."

When he started jogging home, King turned to Lily. "Is he the guy who saved you?" Nobody noticed Angel jogging after the boy.

She confirmed it by nodding.

`Strong, cute and can talk to girls outside of the battleground. Definitely has a few points above Ryo!!' thought King.

Mai just stared at the direction where Ranma jogged off. `Maybe I can date this guy to get Andy jealous! Then I can finally get Andy to marry me! But if Andy doesn't go that way, then I can always try for Ranma. It's a win-win situation!!'

`He seems like a person who truly appreciates martial arts. Perhaps I can convince him to learn the Todo style. And he would look so sexy in one of our uniforms.' Kasumi blushed at the last thought.

Yuri was picturing Ranma in a Kyokugen Karate uniform except that he would have no sleeves like Ryo's gi and he would have no shirt underneath, like her father's gi. She tried to contain the drool that was forming in her mouth.

All four of them snapped back to reality and noticed that Ranma was gone. "RANMA!!! WAIT UP!!!"

Scene: Now

"Alright, we'll just put a key holder by the door." Sara said. "Commander Heidren is here to see you. Ranma looked questioningly at his `aunt' and shrugged his shoulders. "Hey how you doing sir?" He said as he walked in and held out his hand to shake Heidren's, "I'm fine Ranma." He said, "allow me to introduce you to my subordinates. Ralph Jones and Clark Still also this is my daughter, Leona." "Nice to meet you, I just got through training for give me."

"Nice to meet you too Ranma." They said, so they sat down and started to talk when all of the sudden, the front door crashed open, with an injured Billy Kane collapsed near the broken door. "Billy!!!" shrieked Lily.

Ranma quickly knelt down by the injured man. "What happened?" demanded the pigtailed martial artist.

Billy ground his teeth together before raising a weary finger to outside where another man stood on the street. He had an orange shirt, blue hair and a cybernetic blue glove.

Angel quickly hid herself from view. `K9999?!? What's he doing?!?'

"Get Billy some medical attention! Quickly!!" ordered Heidern.

"Sara, where is your first aid box?" asked Leona.

"Downstairs bathroom in the cabinet," replied the housekeeper.

Satisfied with the problem solved, Ranma stepped out to face the new fighter. "Who are you and what do you want?"

"My designation is K9999. My business concerns that only with Lily Kane regarding information on the one who soundly defeated Yamazaki last evening."

`Damn!! He must have spotted us and he followed us here!! How could I have missed him?!? Oh, right. Having to deal with eight females at the same time can do that to ya.' The pigtailed boy clenched his fist. `Whatever. I might as well take him out now. What do you say, Strike Claw?'

Ranma was snapped back to reality when Heidern stepped out with Ralf and Clark. "You aren't getting anywhere near Miss Kane. Now you can leave peacefully or painfully. The choice is yours."

"I don't know about the rest of you but I don't like that guy's attitude," said King coldly.

K9999 smirked. "You're participating in KOF, correct? I may just have to tell my employers that you won't be able to make it. Such a shame too. As sponsors of the tournament, they were looking forward to seeing the best martial artists perform."

Inside the house, Angel slapped her forehead mentally. `What is he thinking?!?'

"You work for NESTS?!?" cried Clark. K9999 simply laughed.

Kasumi gathered some energy for her attack. "I won't allow you and NESTS to conquer us!! Chou Kasane Ate!!"

K9999 leapt out of the way before changing his glove into a cannon. "You Get Lost Too!!!" He fired multiple times, each hitting Kasumi before she crashed through the front window at Ranma's house.

"We can keep playing like this or you can give me Lily. The choice is yours," said K9999.

The white haired woman known as Angel was thinking. She had two choices. One was to stay out of sight and observe Ranma and the other was to give her stupid comrade an assist out of there. She continued staying out of sight till she made her decision.

She will stay out of sight and observe Ranma. Her mission was to get intelligence on Ranma and in her opinion K9999 was doing it so incompetently it was not funny.

`That idiot!' She was angry. `Here I am, right next to the warrior who defeated Yamazaki and here he is. He is going to blow my cover. Idiot!'

So she will hide in the shadows and do her work with skill and cunning instead of foolhardy blundering.

"You're outnumbered, K9999!! You can't win!!" shouted Ralf.

The clone just gave an evil grin. "Oh, we'll see about that."

By now, most of the other fighters have had enough of K9999's tauntings. Clark rushed forward to try and use a grappling move but K9999 knocked him back by summoning an energy shield. Heidern gave a look of alarm. "Clark!!"

"I'll be fine, sir!! Just give me a bit of recovery time!"

"You can't keep up that shield forever! It'll have to drop sometime!!" shouted Yuri. Sure enough, she was right.

"Double Strike!!" King kicked out two projectiles.

"Haou Shokou Ken!!" Yuri's Ko'ou Ken had been charged up to fire her more powerful projectile move instead.

"Mizudori no Mai!!" Mai tossed out three fans that were fired up.

Heidern slashed the air to perform his Cross Cutter attack.

Ralf started moving back a bit to charge for his Galactica Phantom attack.

Ranma was puzzled why K9999 was taking this so calmly. He was fairly strong but if he put up the energy shield again, he won't be able to block everything. Their combined power level was greater than the shields.

He has something up his sleeve. Something big.

`How do you know that, Strike Claw?'

Intuition. Get ready.

Just as the last thought was transmitted, K9999's right arm exploded forward, bigger and nastier than before. It went through every single attack and knocked each fighter off balance. "Ranma!! Watch out!!" shouted Mai.

Ranma was already aware of the people that he was standing in front of so leaping out of the way was out of the question. Looks like he'll have to do this the other way.

The martial artist tightened his stance before catching the mutated arm and locking it with his own strength. K9999's eyes nearly bugged out at the sight of someone catching his most powerful move so far. "WHAT?!?"

The other fighters were in awe. "It's no wonder Ranma took down Yamazaki so easily!!" exclaimed Yuri.

Drawing on some of his enhanced strength as a Saber tooth Were tiger, he repositioned himself before making a quick twist of his arms. There was a sickening crunch. With that done, Ranma let go of the now broken arm.

"SWEET MOTHER OF OROCHI!!! THAT REALLY HURT!!!!"

"Well, duh," muttered Yuri.

Before the other fighters could tie him up and get some answers, a pair of butterfly wings flashed behind him before a woman appeared. She muttered into his ear while placing a firm grip on his shoulder. "He would like to see you after you get your arm fixed."

"Whatever, Diana." Both of them vanished into thin air

Ranma went back in the house to see Kasumi being taken care of by Sara. "How are you holding up?"

Kasumi Todo winced. "I'm fine but I can't move my right arm too much without feeling pain!"

"Then that means you can't participate in the upcoming KOF tournament," stated Clark.

Kasumi clenched her left fist. "Damn!!"

King crossed her arms. "There's me, Mai and Hinako. Who else would be a suitable teammate for our team?"

"Chizuru?" asked Mai.

"Maybe. I'll try calling later." King briefly thought about finding Xiangfei when she remembered the other girl's last letter of traveling around the world and checking out all the different types of cuisine. And it wouldn't do any good to follow the trail of bankrupted restaurants.

Sara then thought of an idea. `Mistress Bast has told me about Ranma's curse to change into a girl. I wonder if that still works?'

"What's this about me being the fourth teammate for a team?" A woman's voice asked.

Ranma and the other fighters looked to the front gate to see a woman with long black hair in priestess robes standing there.

"Chizuru?" King asked.

"Yes."

"What are you doing here?" Mai asked.

"I sensed a very powerful energy and decided to investigate it." Chizuru answered.

"Kasumi's been injured and won't be able to participate in the KOF tournament so would you consider..." Mai asked.

"...being the fourth for your team? Yes I will." Chizuru answered.

"I'm glad you ladies will be fighting in the tournament." Ranma said. "Although I'm sorry Kasumi won't be."

Chizuru turned to the voice and her eyes went wide. Here was the man from the vision. The one who will save them all. She decided to scan for his power.

What she felt couldn't be right. So much power and none of it evil. As in the vision the power was protective and comforting. She was amazed that she had not sensed him before now. She needed to talk to him about her vision about the future. She hid her blush from the others about her thoughts of how handsome he was.

"What was that King?" Chizuru asked broken out of her thoughts.

"I said thanks." King repeated herself. A little frown was on her face now that she noticed Chizuru staring at Ranma.

Ranma frowned as he thought about K9999. `So that was a clone huh?' Turning to the older man in the room, Ranma looked into the man's one eye and saw that it burned with a passion that was rare to see in people. "Excuse me, Heidern?"

"Hmm? Yes?"

Ranma took a deep breath and looked the man right in the eye. "Listen, I know you want to infiltrate this tournament, but I can also tell that you want a shot at that jerk. So, I'll just stand down and let you have a chance at that jerk."

Heidern scratched his chin and turned to look at his subordinates.

Ralf, the bandana clad mercanary looked like he wanted another crack at K9999, not that Heidern blamed him. Every time the one-eyed mercanary commander saw Rugal, he wanted to rip the bastard a new one.

The grappler Clark looked calm and collected, but that was to be expected from the man. You would have to know him well to know what signs to look for anger. Especially since the man wore dark black shades that hid his eyes. Heidern looked at the large man's jaw and neck muscles. `He's still tense.' That could mean many things, but Heidern had the feeling that Clark wanted another shot at K9999.

The commander looked at his blue haired adopted daughter Leona, she just stood there looking at the spot where K9999 had disappeared. The Orochi woman looked totally calm to most people, but her eyes, oooh, her eyes were cold and dispassionate as she looked forward.

Heidern sighed and turned back to Ranma. "I have to agree with you. My subordinates and I would like another shot at K-four-nine."

"Ya ain't the only one mate."

The whole group looked over to the couch to see Billy getting up. The British pole master grimaced. "Look, I may not be an elite like Bogard or Yagami, but I still was the KoF champion back in `91. It may have been ten years ago, but I want a shot at that jerk."

Yuri pointed out the obvious. "Um, even if you have an invite, who can you team with?"

"Heh heh heh," Billy chuckled as he got to his feet, he may have been a little dizzy, but he figured that in a few days at most he'd be as good as new. "Well, there's always Raiden. And there's Eiji. That is, if the ninja wants to enter again since Yagami's in the tournament again. As for the forth person?"" The man looked at Ranma. "I'd like to team up with you. I'm not asking you to join my boss's organization... But with you at least I can get a shot back at that guy."

Ranma thought about it and saw that he was struggling to stand. `I don't think so.' "Billy you're injured, let me handle this one." He said, "all I need is three other teammates right?" Just then Chae and Mignon stepped up for him. "Okay that's two," he said. Just then they head a voice, "I'll help as well." It was Rock Howard. `What's the boss' son doing here?' Thought Billy.
