Ranma 1/2 Fan Fiction ❯ A Fighter's tournment ❯ AFTChX ( Chapter 10 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Scene: the fight.

"Jinju! You should switch out and rest for a moment!!" shouted Kim from the Korean sidelines.

May Lee ignored her master and stood up to face her opponent. 'Got a little careless there. That Mary Dynamite Swing is quite an attack.' She jumped up when Mary performed another move.

"Spin Fall!!" As soon as May Lee got on the other side, she went on the offensive. She ran towards her opponent and performed a Three Strike Kick: Reverse before switching into the Triple Kick.

Mary recovered on the ground and noticed that May Lee's stance changed from her standard stance to her altered stance. 'I'm on to you!!'

The Hero version of May Lee jumped in the air and flew towards her opponent, intending on using her May Lee: Dynamic move.

Mary moved into position to counter May Lee's attack. As soon as the Korean heroine got close, Mary countered with the M. Reverse Face lock and twisted May Lee's leg.

She got out of Mary's grip and stood up wearily. Mary dashed forward to use the Mary Splash Rose but May Lee moved into her Counter Kick position and sent Mary into the air.

"HIYAAAA!!!" Before Mary landed on the ground, May Lee flew into her and performed a series of kicks before finishing off with a strong roundhouse kick.

While Mary lay on the arena floor, May Lee wiped some sweat off her face. 'She won't be finished yet.'

Mary spat some blood out to the side before getting up. "Almost reminds me of Kim's move..."

Kim called out to his teammate again. "Jinju! Don't tire yourself out!! You must save your strength for the real criminals at hand!!"

'Master Kim has a point. But I also have to be sure that I can be on par with some of the stronger fighters in the tournament!!'

Mary Ryan and May Lee were standing in the ring. May Lee had won the first point for her team by knocking out Joe Higashi. Mary Ryan had stepped in to face the young girl from Korea.

'She switches between the two stances and when she does her moves changes.' Mary was taking the little break to think of May Lee's fighting style. 'Now she's in her first stance with a tight defense.'

Mary's eyes widened when she thought about that. She had noticed that whenever May used her altered stance she did nothing but attack. She didn't see May defend herself when using that altered stance.

'Maybe that's it.' Mary was careful to keep her thoughts off her face. 'I have to trick her.'

The detective leapt forward and sure enough May Lee got into her altered stance.

'Just what I was waiting for.'

Quickly angling her body to land just out of reach of May, Mary did her slide attack again before the Korean girl could recover. May Lee was knocked in the air and Mary again jumped up and grabbed her. The detective threw her hard into the mat. May Lee was trying to get her senses back when she felt two hands on her neck.

Mary Ryan then spun a few times and tossed May Lee in the air. It looked like she was going to repeat the move she did earlier in the match. To the surprise of everyone, after she had tossed May in the air Mary jumped and while May's body was still in the air landed on her then forced May hard into the floor of the arena.

That was more than the girl could take and she lost consciousness. May Lee was quickly taken out of the ring as Kim Kaphwan stepped in the ring.

Mary realized that May Lee lost the match because she didn't switch out when her exhaustion was obvious. She decided not to make the same mistake and called for the last fighter on the Fatal Fury team to come in.

Terry Bogard hopped on the stage; jumped a few times to warm up and then adjusted his cap. "Hey! C'mon, c'mon!!"

Kim shook his legs a bit before taking a stance. As soon as both fighters were ready, Terry pounded his fist into the ground. "Power Wave!!"

The Taw Kwon Do master leapt over the projectile. Terry instantly pushed himself off the ground. "Rising Tackle!!"

'His recovery time for the Power Wave has been shortened again!' Kim got back up after being hit seven times.

Terry ran forward and leapt in the air, swinging his leg down in an arc motion. "Crack Shoot!!"

Kim opted to cartwheel past it instead of block it. But Terry proved to be faster than he expected. He quickly dashed in to get in a few quick punches and kicks before finishing the combo off with his specialty move. "Power Geyser!!" He slammed his fist into the ground three times, creating three powerful energy waves. Each one hit Kim at precisely the right time, indicating that Terry had perfected the timing of this move.

Ranma noted how Terry paced himself during the match. 'He certainly is an aggressive fighter when he wants to be.'

Kim shook off the last attack and saw Terry coming towards him fast. "Burn Knuckle!!"

He ducked under Terry's fist and used his Hou'ou Hiten Kyaku, an ascending kick to launch Terry into the air. Now he could follow this up with anything he wanted and he knew exactly what he had in mind.

During his training period for the King of Fighters 2001 tournament, he devised another version of his specialty beat them up move, Hou'ou Kyaku (translated as Phoenix Kick or Phoenix Dance or something like that). It is far stronger than his previous powered up version of the move. Now it was time to test how much damage it can do.

"Hou'ou Kyaku!!" Kim leapt forward and started attacking Terry with a series of punches and kicks. After the fourteenth hit, Kim started spinning around in the air for an additional fourteen hits until he used a final air kick to send Terry to the ground for a total of 29 hits.

Ranma noticed that Kim displayed an enormous burst of energy during the final fifteen hits. In fact, his ki energy seemed to be shaped like a phoenix and rose above the ground during the second part of the move. Then it disappeared when Kim gave the final kick.

Kim Kaphwan took a few deep breaths to control his breathing as he kept a weary eye on Terry Bogard. The Hyper Hou'ou Kyaku is a powerful move but it took a large amount of energy to execute. The damage done by that move would be high but he knows Terry and how much punishment he can take.

Soon enough, Terry lifts himself off the ground. "A new twist on the Hou'ou Kyaku, Kim?"

The Taw Kwon Do champion smirked. "Indeed. How did you find it?"

"Hurts a helluva lot more than the other two versions combined. But I'm not through yet." After readjusting his cap and brushing some dirt off, Terry got into his stance.

"Figures. Let's go!!" The crowd started cheering as the two combatants began to fight again.

Kim ran forward before sliding on the ground in an attempt to hit him on the ground first. Terry quickly punched the ground once. "Ground Wave!!"

A large wave of energy (but not as large as a Power Geyser) blocked Kim from getting any closer. He moved back before leaping into the air. Terry kept a close eye on how Kim was jumping. If he mistimed his counter move, Kim could either get him with a Hou'ou Tenbu Kyaku, where he leaps down and if he connects his attack, he hits the opponent multiple times before sending him flying back, or he could use any version of Hou'ou Kyaku in the air.

'Here we go!!' "Power Dunk!!" Terry was able to use the first hit of that move to knock Kim out of the air. By the time the Korean man landed, Terry's second hit of the move was right on him.

Kim made an emergency cartwheel backwards while Terry dashed in to use the High Angle Geyser. "Overhead...Geyser!!"

The amount of energy it takes to block a move like that is rather small but in intense tournaments like these, every bit of energy counts.

Igniz and the people around him looked at the fight between Kim Kaphwan and Terry Bogard. Their predictions on the strength and skill of some of the fighters were off. In fact they seem to be low.

"First Iori was a lot stronger than predicted." The supreme leader of NESTS turned to his right hand man Zero. "Now Kim Kaphwan and Terry Bogard. Do you have an explanation for this, Zero?"

"No I don't." Zero answered. The aide of Igniz was a lot more curious than scared of Igniz. He too was puzzled about the increase of some of the fighters' strengths.

"It looks like we will have to readjust the training programs to add another 20% increase of strength for the fighters." Misty said. All the men looked at the woman in curiosity.

"What do you mean Misty?" Igniz asked.

"As much as I do not want to admit it we underestimated the fighters and now we will have to correct that." Misty answered her lover.

"I see. I will have the technicians do that." Igniz said as he picked up the phone. As he conversed with his techs back at the base...

Terry's Overhead Geyser slammed into Kim with more power than the Korean thought possible. The Tae Kwan Do Champion was sent flying and landing painfully on the floor. Before Kim could shake the cobwebs out of his head the Lone Wolf was on him.

With a Burnt Knuckle followed by a Crack Shot plus the exhaustion and energy already spent it was over for Kim. He landed on the floor out like a light and the match was over.

Terry was breathing hard as 'Choi' stepped in the ring. Glancing at Mary Terry could tell she was rested up and in better shape than he was in. He gave the signal to Mary and he stepped out of the ring to recover.

The female detective stepped in once again to face the small fighter with the claws.

+++++++++++++++

Off to the side Ranma was thinking of the skill and power shown by both of the fighters. Ranma knew that before coming here he would have been defeated by both Kim Kaphwan and Terry Bogard. Even after Saffron. These fighters knew how to fight. They lived for it.

'I hope I am ready for this.' Ranma thought to himself.

You are ready for this and not just because you have the power of a were. Ranma, you can do this; just be confident and believe in yourself.

'Thank you Strike Claw.'

Ranma smiled thankful for a good friend in that was with to help him through his times of doubt. One thing is for certain is that this trip has helped Ranma in more ways than one.

Ranma noticed the last fighter for the Korean Team was ready to go. Ranma could see some nervousness that 'Choi' was emitting. Ranma thought to himself that he was a lot more nervous than usual.

Mary Ryan and 'Choi' started on their match.

'Choi' gulped as he pulled his claws out to face the blonde detective. Hoping to win quickly the small man attacked right away. The claws blurred as they tried to hit the blonde detective but try as he might he could never get a hit on her.

In Mary's case it was easy to keep the claws from hitting her. The small man's eyes and muscles were giving him away as he started to slow down his assault. She kept taunting her opponent with insults. She knew he was getting tired and the best chance to knock him out was now...

'Choi' overextended one of his thrusts and Mary grabbed his arm. Forcing his arm in a position it was not meant to be she managed to declaw the small man and tossed the claws out of the way. Getting a better hold on 'Choi' she tossed him in the air and grabbed him. With a good swing she hurled him to the floor below her. Before 'Choi' could get up she landed both of her knees in his stomach and his eyes closed.

After the referee checked the last fighter for The Korean Team. He raised one arm and pointed to The Fatal Fury Team's corner.

"Winner of this match!! The Fatal Fury Team!!!"

The crowds cheered for the Fatal Fury Team as they walked off to the side.
