"There's no time for us
There's no place for us."
There's no place for us."
Ryoga was sitting in the cold. It would try to snow soon. The cold
snap had caught him by surprise. Lower Japan wasn't supposed to get this
cold, unless he had gotten lost again.

He longed to be back home. The Tendo Dojo wasn't really his home,
but Ryoga had nowhere else to go. They said home was where the heart was,
and his love resided at the dojo.

He stared at the dying fire. `But whom do you love?' A tiny voice
in the back of his head asked. Then it shut up, to be replaced by chattering
teeth. If his fire died soon, Ryoga knew he would freeze.

There was no wood in sight, and he didn't wish to stray far from
camp. He knew he might not find it again. Slowly he opened his backpack,
looking for something -- anything that would burn. He pulled out a beat up
photo album. One by one he leafed though the yellowing pages, looking at each
of his memories before throwing them on the fire. The act seemed cleansing.

As his life was slowly incinerated, he mused about the contents of the
pictures.
"What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us?"
As the last picture burned, one person stared out at him. He paused
for a second before fishing it out. He stared out at him, his blue eyes
beaming gently. His black hair was tied back into a tight braid. He
recognized what the boy was wearing. The skating outfit had looked ridiculous on him, but for the boy in the picture, it was perfect. "I love him." Ryoga finally
answered the question. "Never Akane. It's always been him."

"Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever.....?
There's no chance for us
It's all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment, set aside for us."

His enlightenment caught him by surprise. Ryoga had always assumed
he loved Akane. But now it was clear. His attacks on Ranma were just to see
him again. He always wanted to find the boy's school or be at his home. Usually, the insanity of the town or the curses got in the way, so he never had a chance to tell him. Every time he might have gotten an opportunity, something always seemed to go wrong. He also knew that his chances with the person were slim to none.

Ryoga knew a long time ago, that Ranma might marry Akane. The longer that
engagement stood, the more likely it was that it would happen. He knew that
if he didn't act fast, he might not have any chance at all.

"Who dares to love forever
When love must die."
When love must die."
He stood and swiftly put out the fire. He knew now what he had to
do. He walked towards Tokyo. The scenery passed quickly, but it was all the
same to him. Ryoga stopped to sleep only when he dropped. The vision of
Ranma telling him that he felt the same spurred him on.

He arrived at the dojo late one evening. He was deliriously happy.
He'd gotten there without getting lost once. With his confidence boosted even
more by this feat, Ryoga crept into Ranma's room.

Ranma was sprawled next to his father, unaware of what Ryoga was
planning for him. Ryoga took a deep breath and bopped the boy lightly on the head. “Wake up, Ranma!”.
planning for him. Ryoga took a deep breath and bopped the boy lightly on the head. “Wake up, Ranma!”.
"What'd ya do that for?" The irate boy yelled. “Oh, it`s just you. What you want? Come to finish the duel. I already told you, that wasn`t MY fault!.
"No, Ranma, it`s not about the duel." Ryoga whispered. "I'd just like to talk to you. But we can't talk here." He got up and headed towards the bathroom.
Ranma let curiosity get the better of him. It wasn't very often that his rival would appear and not want to kill him. Ranma didn't know why Ryoga had changed so suddenly, but he decided he liked it. "What do ya want this time, P-chan?" he regretted it immediately. Here Ryoga was, trying to be nice, and he already had done the time honored Saotome Secret Technique of Open Mouth Insert Foot.
Ryoga flinched. This wasn't going as easy as he thought it would be.
Looking elsewhere, he blurted out his feelings. "Ranma, I think I'm in love
with you. I want to know if you feel the same."

"But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips.
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today."

"Ha, ha. Ryoga. Funny joke. Now seriously, what are you really here for.” Ranma tried to sound like he didn't care. In reality the confession had sent him into mild shock. Secretly, he had developed quite a crush on the Lost Boy. If not for that man-among-men promise, Ranma might have tried to start something other than a friendly rivalry with the bandana'd boy.
"I am serious, Ranma.” Ryoga almost yelled. “I just need to know if I`m right, or if I`m just being stupid. All I'm asking is for one kiss. That's all. And if you feel nothing, I'll leave you alone. I'll go away forever. You'll never see me again."
Ranma was in visible shock. Ryoga offering to leave. To get out of his life forever. A part of him was celebrating. With him gone, there'd be one less person to deal with. No Ryoga would mean one less person threatening to kill him on a daily basis. But, then again, another part of him wanted the boy to stay around forever. He could admit that without Ryoga around, things got pretty boring. No one was as much of a challenge as Ryoga. And no one was as good looking. "But what if I say I like it?" He asked, knowing full well, he might actually enjoy locking lips with the Lost Boy.
"You can come away with me. Away from all this insanity. You'll never have to worry about your fiancees finding you. We'd disappear. I'd do whatever it took to make you happy."
This time Ranma really stared at Ryoga. What was Ryoga saying? He would do anything to make Ranma happy. He was already happy, because he had the boy with him. He didn't need anything else. "What have I got to lose?"
Their lips met. Ryoga's mouth was demanding. He had waited so long for this. He parted Ranma's lips with his tongue and licked the row of white teeth. His arms surrounded the boy, clutching him in a way that kept the martial artist both safe and completely helpless.
Ryoga pulled Ranma off his feet and onto his lap. The pig-tailed boy straddled his lap, one leg on his left, the other on his right. His hands rested on Ryoga's waist, fingertips lightly applying pressure. Ryoga's hands were tangled possessively in the curtain of ebony hair.
"Oh God!" Akane stumbled out of the bathroom. Both Ranma and Ryoga look up reluctantly. They had no idea of when she had come in. "Ranma, how could you? You.. You pervert!"
"Akane! Wait! You don't understand!" Ranma started off after her. He was stopped by Ryoga. The short haired boy looked like the world had just ended. Ranma could see the boy shattering before his very eyes. He could see the aura of depression welling up around the boy.
"So you didn't feel anything? I'm sorry for wasting your time." Ranma just stared at him, stupefied. Ryoga didn`t understand. He was jumping to conclusions. Then again. His trying to go after Akane hadn`t helped matters. If he could just explain things..
It was already too late. Ryoga was already standing and trying to leave. "Don't worry. A promise is a promise. You'll never see me again." Ryoga left the Tendo Dojo as quietly as he had come. "Good bye, Ranma Saotome. Have a good life."
"Who wants to live forever
Who want to live forever
Forever is our today."
Who want to live forever
Forever is our today."
Ranma watched Ryoga go. He couldn't believe what had just happened. He was more tempted to follow. It was taking all his will-power to stay put and let Ryoga go. As he watched the disappearing boy, he mentally prepared himself for a meeting with Akane's mallet, and began concocting an explanation that would satisfy his pop and the demon head known as Soun Tendo.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't." He whispered. Ranma turned to enter the dojo but stopped before he touched the knob. "Ah, who am I kidding. I ain't going to explain myself to nobody ever again. Ryoga, wait up." He called, running off after the lost boy.
Ryoga heard the voice calling. He ignored it. Ranma had chosen. No amount of imagining would change it. But, he turned away. To take one last look at the house that held the one he loved. His breath caught, as Ranma caught up with him, and threw himself into Ryoga's arms. “I'm coming with you.' Ranma whispered. He felt Ryoga return his embrace, and felt a hot tear hit him.
He looked. Ryoga was crying. Not a lot. But he was. Only, there was a smile on the boy's face. “I love you, Ranma Saotome.”
“I love you too, Ryoga Hibiki.”
"Who waits forever anyway?"
