Chapter 3

Training and Truths

 

A pretty brown haired chef was waking up in her bed stretching to get the kinks out of her body. Looking around her room she noticed the futon Ranma used was folded up neatly and put away.

 

Ukyo stood up and walked to her closet where her clothes were. She put on her usual clothes and cleaned up.

 

`How could Akane think that Ranchan's a pervert? He didn't try anything at all. He even slept on the floor. Then again Akane always blamed Ranchan for every little thing.' Ukyo thought to herself. `Ranchan must been really upset to leave for two months after the last fiancé. Since I was gone at the time I don't know what happened.'

 

Ukyo's thoughts were stopped short as she gazed into the main room of the Ucchan's where she saw Ranchan doing a 2 finger stand with one arm to the side. What really amazed her was the fact that several chairs and tables were floating in mid air. She knew Ranma did the impossible but this went far beyond that. However she remembered what Ranma did to Ryoga last night.

 

She saw Master Yoda off to one side nodding in satisfaction at what Ranma was doing. Master Yoda noticed her and quickly signaled her to remain silent and to join him. She did so noticing that Ranma's eyes were closed and five minutes later the tables and chairs slowly descended to the floor to their original places.

 

Ukyo watched as Ranma open his eyes then used his fingers to leap to stand on his feet.

 

“Well done my padawan. Well done. Control has gotten better for you.” Yoda complimented his student.

 

“Thank you Master Yoda.” Ranma smiled happy. Yoda was so different from his father as an instructor. When Ranma did something wrong Yoda didn't insult him. Instead Yoda would gently tell him what he did wrong and give insights on how to do better. Even when he did something right Genma would still insult him saying he himself could do better. Master Yoda would compliment him and praise him plus be proud of his new accomplishments.

 

Ukyo finally found her voice as she finally got back to reality.

 

“Ranma, how were you doing that with the chairs and tables and stuff?” Ukyo asked.

 

“Tell her we should on how you found me.” Yoda advised.

 

Ranma sighed then nodded. If Yoda trusted her than it was all right.

 

“Two months ago you were gone visiting your father I think it was when another of Genma's so-called forgotten promises showed up.” Ranma started off the story.

 

Ukyo knew what that meant but she asked anyways.

 

“Another fiancé?”

 

Ranma nodded and continued. “The arrangement was like yours. I didn't know about the arrangement concerning her and me. But unlike you I didn't even know her. It seemed Genma got caught robbing her family's dojo and offered me up as a fiancé to the daughter of the owner of the dojo. She showed up to claim me like the others before her and like usual I got blamed for everything.”

 

“So what happened?”

 

“What else!?” Ranma sarcastically asked. “Akane pounded me into the ground then the wall. Pops and Tendo whined on how dishonorable I was to break the Saotome/Tendo pact. Kasumi showed her displeasure by letting Akane cook for me earning me an upset stomach then a pounding and more yelling by our fathers. Mom was fingering her sword and complaining on how unmanly I was to dishonor myself and at the same time saying how manly I was. Nabiki gouged me for cash then sold out the information about this new fiancé so I had everyone but you on my case.

 

“A little while later I found a crystal on the street that glowed when I touched it. When my eyes got used to the light I saw at what I thought was a little old freak there. He then revealed some things about me that I had hidden deep inside of me that only I knew. I must admit that Master Yoda scared me a little when he said those things. He saw that I was upset and depressed and suggested I take a vacation away from Nerima from everything.

 

“On this trip he revealed that the crystal was a Jedi Holocron. A holocron is like a computer with all the knowledge of the Jedi. Yoda here is the guide to the holocron that I found. You see Master Yoda used to be a Jedi Master. A Jedi is a warrior of the Jedi Order. The Jedi Order was an ancient order of warriors that mastered the power of the force to protect the Republic. A government over the galaxies that existed long ago. The Holocron would only work if someone strong in the force touched it.”

 

“It's a good thing you found it Ranchan. I shudder to think on what would have happened if Kuno or someone like that found it.” Ukyo shuddered at those scenarios happening. She could just imagine Shampoo or Akane finding that holocron. She then imagined her finding the device considering on how she was back two months ago she could have been just as bad.

 

“Worry you should not. Strong in ki or chi does not make one strong in the force. Separate those two are young one.” Yoda spoke up. “Strong in family the force is. Good thing it is that father and mother of Ranma did not find the holocron.”

 

Ukyo blanched at the thought of Genma and Nodoka having the holocron if this was true. She didn't know Ranma's mother well (and considering on how Ranma portrayed her in his story it was a good thing she didn't find it either) but she knew Genma was a man without morals and would use the knowledge of the holocron for his own purposes.

 

“Good thing Ranchan found it but what is this force you mentioned Ranma?” Ukyo asked.

 

“The force is an energy field that is made by all living things. It surrounds and penetrates everything, binding the universe together.” Ranma answered.

 

“So it isn't like ki or chi then?” Ukyo asked.

 

“I wouldn't say that. Ki and chi are a part of the force. The force is much larger than just ki or chi.” Ranma corrected Ukyo.

 

“Correct Ranma is. Enough training for today. To the library you must go. Find more of Genma's crimes on computer I feel that you would.” Yoda softly instructed. Ranma and Ukyo frowned then nodded.

 

Yoda then disappeared as Ukyo left a sign out stating that the restaurant would be closed for the day. Ranma and Ukyo then left for the library to find out if Yoda's claims were true. Ukyo had doubts about Yoda being right but Ranma did not. He was a little worried on what he find on the computer.

The short master watched as his padawan left the building with sad eyes.

 

He knew that for Ranma to reach his full potential the young man would have to cut all ties to his parents. Dishonorable hypocrites they were.

 

It was not too late to undo the damage that Genma and Nodoka Saotome had done to their child. Saw the potential in Ranma Genma did and tried to twist it to serve his own will.

 

Yoda softly sighed hoping in the future that Ranma will forgive him for revealing the truth about his parents but this was necessary for Ranma to reach his full potential and be the warrior and hero he was destined to be. A destiny Genma and tried to prevent.

 

Nodoka Saotome was unknowingly pushing and punishing her own child because of her beliefs. Yoda felt sorry for her that she would not understand what Genma had put her child through.

 

For the first time in a long time Yoda was angry

 

The Jedi Master then turned his eyes to the Tendo Dojo and watched as Ryoga told his one-sided story to the Tendos and Saotomes last night. This morning he would be keeping an eye on the place.

Last night at the Tendo Dojo….

 

Ryouga was missing an arm, an eye, and a part of his ear to go along with the scar on his face. His head was in his sweet Akane's lap. All three Tendo girls were pale at seeing the condition Ryouga was in. Soun and Genma were shocked at seeing the boy in this condition as well. Nodoka was close to fainting on seeing Ryouga's maimed form.

However Akane was getting her color back when she heard Ryouga murmur on what happened to him.

 

"Ranma. It was Ranma who attacked me, out of nowhere, and did this to me." The lost boy murmured before passing out.

 

Nabiki rushed to the phone to call Dr Tofu who had returned from his long vacation away from Nerima.

 

“I knew it.” Akane growled out. “I knew Ranma was dangerous perverted freak and this attack on Ryouga proves it.”

 

Happosai remained silent as he watched Soun and Genma nod at her words. The old man snorted at their actions knowing everyone here will take Hibiki's side. If he had been Ranma he would have killed the dishonorable pig long ago for a couple of reasons.

 

The first of is that promise that Ryouga tricked Ranma into. Sure he was still trapped in that stupid cave but he had overheard Soun and Genma talking about it saying how easy it would be to Ranma jealous of Ryouga then catch Ranma and Akane in a compromising position and force them to marry so they could retire. To think that he, Happosai the Grandmaster of the Anything Goes saw potential in those two wastrels. Genma had totally twisted and perverted his potential and Soun now there was real disappointment. Soun had more potential in the art then Genma until he became he a useless baby and let his skills degrade so much after his wife died. So much Soun couldn't even train his heir properly. In the old master's eyes there was no heir to the Tendo School and because Soun let his skills degrade so much there was no master either.

 

The second was the simple reason that Ryouga in his cursed form of P-chan slept with Ranma's fiancé. Promise or no that would have earned Ryouga a painful death from Happosai if he had been in Ranma's shoes. To bad Genma had brainwashed Ranma into being a complete wimp in anything outside the martial arts. Happosai was hoping this would happen and happen it did. Now was a golden chance to see his school passed on to someone who could really do something with it and not ruin it like what those two fools did with what little he taught them. Happosai could feel his age as he looked upon Ranma as his last hope.

 

The third was the battle last night. The old master of the arts was amazed at Ranma's progress in the art of combat. He even saw that new, small master of Ranma's and was amazed at what he didn't sense. No ki or chi so it had to be a spirit of some kind. Even more amazing was the fact that the small green thing looked right at him after the battle between Ryouga and Ranma. The being called Yoda knew he had been there all along during the entire battle.

 

Nodoka was still shaken on her sweet son doing this to another human being. If Nodoka Saotome really knew that Ryouga tries to kill him day after day for stupid reasons she could understand.

 

Another reason that prevented her from understanding Ranma was the type of person she was. She was a deeply traditional, Japanese wife.

 

In other words that meant Genma was the lord and master of the house. Everything Genma did was right and Genma knew best. All she heard from Genma was the fact that Ranma refused to be responsible and honorable and marry his true and rightful fiancée.

 

She knew nothing of Genma's promises of Ranma being a fiancé to several girls then running off with their dowries or using Ranma as a payment for his thefts or collateral. All that she knew was what Genma and Soun told her about Ranma being dishonorable and irresponsible plus disrespectful.

 

`Maybe I should reinstate the Seppuku pledge.' Nodoka thought to herself.

 

Happosai was looking at the Saotome woman with a frown. He may not be able to read minds but he could read Ranma's mother quite clearly. He needed to talk to her but he had a feeling that Ranma would set this woman straight about her thinking of Genma as a honorable and righteous manly man in the near future.

 

Happosai looked forward to that confrontation with relish. He wouldn't even have to lift a finger to get the revenge he desired for Genma and Soun looking him in the cave for ten long years.

 

Sure he could have killed the two idiots but that was getting off easy. When Nodoka was confronted with what Ranma had to say what Genma and Soun wanted the most would fly away beyond their reach.

 

`I just wish that I would be there.' Happosai thought with an evil grin. Little did he know he get his wish.

At the library Ukyo and Ranma had found a computer and used a search engine. The two words they put in were `Genma' and `Saotome.'

 

The young man and woman were amazed at the results. Sure enough there were web sites on the net detailing Genma's crimes. There were even a few with Ranma's name.

 

Both looked at each other in shock thinking the same thing.

 

`Whoever did this has got something against Genma Saotome.'

 

The two quickly checked the sites concerning Ranma and both breathed a sigh of relief when they saw that Ranma was not being sought for any crimes.

 

They went back to the search results page and clicked into a site that looked quite large. There were a few sections to the web site.

 

One section was labeled `Genma's crimes' and another was `Genma's payment plans for unpaid loans' and still another `Genma's fiancées for Ranma.' Let's not forget `Genma's crimes with his partner Soun Tendo.'

 

Ranma moved the pointer and clicked on the `Genma's Crimes' part and went in. Both he and Ukyo were in shock. The list of Genma's crimes was quite long. They printed it out and it took 8 pages just to list the crimes. Just a list no description of the crimes. They backtracked to the main page and went in the payment plans.

 

When they saw what Genma had promised they were sick and disgusted. Not only did Genma promise Ranma as collateral in payment but he promised Ranma's assets as well. He sold out their art in which both Ranma and Ukyo were just plain upset. As martial artists they were shocked at Genma's betrayal of the art by selling it off for just a rabbit leg to eat. But what had made Ranma and Ukyo the most upset and sickened was the fact that he had sold off Ranma's children like farm animals. He even promised a couple of whore houses two of his granddaughters.

 

They printed that off as well.

 

The two went through each section of the web site and printed that section off after looking through that section.

 

Both of the young teenagers were just plain sick, upset, and plain mad as hell when they gathered the results of their investigation.

 

Ranma held in him a cold anger at how dishonorable his father truly was and he still pretended to be an honorable person and used honor to manipulate Ranma into being his slave. That's how Ranma saw it.

 

`Training trip, ha!' Ranma snorted in disgust. `It was just to make me Genma's happy little slave at the Tendo dojo as he lazed about all day long living off my hard work.'

 

Ukyo had enough information to truly destroy the Saotome clan but after reading what she did and Ranma's reaction to it she didn't want to destroy the Saotome clan just Genma Saotome. She saw that it was Genma Saotome that truly deserved her justice and revenge. Nodoka from what she had seen was a traditional woman and Genma manipulated her like she did Ranma.

 

She still knew that the confrontation between her best friend and the Tendos along with his parents were going to be terrible but it had to be done.

 

When it all was said and done Ukyo knew Nerima would never be the same but she knew one thing.

 

Any man who sold of their art they professed to love was the lowest of the low and since Nerima was home to so many martial artists Genma was going to get his long deserved punishment when they heard what Genma had done.

 

A storm was coming to Nerima and who knew who would left standing after it.
