Notes: I DID A SPINOFF FOR NABIKI AND KUNO!!! It's called 'The Blue Thunder and the Mercenary Girl.' By now, at least chapter 2 of it should be up. Chapter 1 is only everything about them from the first three chapters of this story. Well, I guess Nerima is seeing a lot of weddings lately, ne? Keep in mind, these two stories are happening at the same time. There will be a certain twist... Hopefully, I'll be writing long enough to get to that part.

Chapt er 4: Xing Niang Xing Lang (The Bride and Groom)

I sighed in front of my mirror. Great- grandmother was dusting my cheeks with rouge and applying bright red lipstick to my lips. I was looking pale that day, but that didn't matter. Even if I was a bright ray of sunshine, I would be decking myself up anyway for the big day. Yep, my big freakin' day. Hey, so what? So what if I was marrying Mousse? I'll show Ranma. I'll show him that I'm over him. I'll show him good. He's not the only one who can be happy. "Shampoo be happy, too! Hmmph!" I clamped a hand over my mouth when I realized I said that outloud, ruining my perfect lipstick.

"Yes, of course you'll show Ranma that you're happy. Now, try not to destroy your make-up."

Hey. How did she know that I wanted to show Ranma that I... Ahhh, nevermind. It really didn't matter. If I got drunk, the wedding night won't be so bad. Well, it's not like Mousse is SO bad at sex. Eventually, he was getting pretty tedious by the third round, but you can't expect much from a man who spends a quarter of his time as a duck. On the other hand, he was durable. He lasted so long, four times. That's quite an accomplishment for his first time. I frowned at my reflection. I hoped that he wouldn't keep me up all night. I still had to get up the next morning to make deliveries.

No, we weren't going to go on a honeymoon. Big friggin' deal. I purposely requested no honeymoon. Think about it. If we went on a honeymoon, he would want to do it EVERY night. I think I can tolerate him for one night but EVERY night for about two weeks. I might end up killing him. Kami knows that I'm not the most patient person in the world.

I set the gold headpiece over my purple odangos and a red veil over the headpiece. There was no way I could see through the red cloth so Great- grandmother had to lead me with her arm to the carriage that would carry me through the streets to the waiting bridegroom. I dreaded the humiliation, but at least I wouldn't have to see anything behind that thick veil.
--------------------------------------------------

"Akan e? Ranma? Get up. We have to o to Shampoo's wedding today." I tapped lightly on my sister and brother-in-law's bedroom door. The red invitation in my hand was slid under the crack beneath their door and I walked softly to Nabiki's door where the soft murmurs of hers and Tatewaki-san's could be heard.

"Nabiki? Would you and your friend like to go to Shampoo's wedding? Nabiki. I know he's there. I heard you two last night. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think maybe you two should keep it down a little next time." I slid another invitation under their door. This invitation was addressed to Tatewaki-san and was graciously brought over by his servant, Sasuke early in the morning.

Nabiki flung the door open wearing a bed sheet. "Onei-chan, I think we'll be sleeping in today. Alright?"

"Alright." I blinked and walked away passed Akane's room just in time for Ranma to come bounding out.

"Sh-Shampoo? Sh-she's gettin' married? To Mousse?" He sniggered and groggily walked to the bathroom.

As soon as he was gone, Akane stormed out. "RANMA! IF YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE ANOTHER HOUR IN THAT BATHROOM, I'M GONNA- Oh hi, Onei-chan. So, you're going to Shampoo's wedding? I can't believe she actually just settled down with Mousse. Not so good for her, but he must be pretty happy." I smiled at her in agreement and she continued to scream, "RANMA! HURRY UP IN THERE! I'M GOIN' IN!"

I was walking down the stairs when Auntie Saotome grabbed my arm and asked with concern, "What is all this racket about? Is my son causing more trouble with Akane? Why, my Ranma is such a naughty boy. So, Kasumi, how are you? You're looking well this morning, dear."

"Thank you, Auntie. You look well yourself this morning. Are you going to the wedding?"

"Wedding?"

"Yes. Shampoo is marrying Mousse today."

"Ohhh... that little Chinese girl that always chases after Ranma? She's finally marrying that blind boy, ne? Well it's about time. I knew there was something between them."

I nodded and tried to continue down the stairs to start breakfast. Oto-chan was already down there and reading the paper and sipping tea with Uncle Saotome. I was just about to put rice on the stove when someone knocked at the door. It was both pleasant and surprising to find Dr. Tofu standing there with his glasses fogged up. "Oh my. Hello, Dr. Tofu. Is there anything I could do for you at this early hour?"

There were probably a million thing Dr. Tofu could think of me doing for him at that moment, but instead he stuttered, "Kasumi... I... uhh... Would you like to... uhhh... There's a wedding, see... and... What I'm trying to say is... Do you wanna... I mean... go to the thing... with me?"

"With you?" I smiled and blushed. "Why, I'd love to." The tips of my shoes could use polishing. The floor wasn't exactly shiny either. Tomorrow, I would give it a good scrubbing.

"Oh good!" The sound of his voice poked at my attention and I looked up at his foggy glasses. "Would you like to go uhhh... now?"

"I really should make breakfast for the family first. Would you like to stay for breakfast first?" I was absolutely delighted when he nodded and walked in. "Oto-chan? Look who's here for breakfast. Dr. Tofu."

My father looked up and his bottom lip started to quiver. "Ohhh... my little girls are all growing up so fast and finding spouses. What am I ever going to do without them? Wahhhhh!" He wailed.

I found this only slightly alarming. Oto-chan was often too emotional for his own good. Breakfast was quite awkward. If seemed like we were all coupled up except for Oto-chan. Naturally Akane was with Ranma, Uncle Saotome with Auntie Saotome, Nabiki with Kuno, and, well, I was with Dr. Tofu. Things were just looking so different only a week ago.

"So that old Shamp's getting married." I scrubbed ferociously at my grill and snorted. "And to that pathetic baffoon, Mousse." Outside, the clashing of Chinese cymbals and the banging of drums was heard along with the snapping of small red firecrackers. "She thinks that that'll solve all her problems? Hah! I'll go. Yeah, I'll go... just for the laughs."

"Maybe, Ukyou-san, maybe she really has affection for Mousse-san. We really don't know," Konatsu added meakly.

"BAH!" I continued to scrub creating furious scraping sounds. "Yeah right. Look, sugar. She's just like me. After chasing Ranma for so long, this is too short of an amount of time for her to 'love' anyone else. I know. I SHOULD KNOW. I mean, she needs time. If you ask me, she has ulterior motives. That Shampoo isn't as dumb as she looks. She may talk like a bimbo and bounce around like a superball, but she has a brain up there... somewhere... So what is she up to really?" I scratched my head irritably with my spatula. "This must be another scheme to get Ranma. It must be. Can't she see it's over? Ranma's MARRIED. She can't do nothin' 'bout it!"

I saw Konatsu sweatdrop and quitely say, "Maybe, Ukyou-san, maybe you're the one who doesn't see that this is over. Maybe you're the one who's not over it..." He trailed off and looked away.

Damn him. That stung. That really hit the spot. "You're right." I whispered into the grill. "You're absolutely right. I'm not over it. I'm not over Ranma. I'm not over Ranma or Ryouga... I'm not over any of them." Sighing, I put away my grill and grabbed my battle spatula. "We might as well go to their wedding. C' mon, Konatsu."
--------------------------------------------------

" Xing niang xing long dao!" We bowed three times to the heavens, three times to the ancestors, and three times to the 'parents' which was basically just to Great- grandmother. After, I sat in the bedroom surrounded by the tremendous treasures of my family; golds, silvers, pearls... All around me was red and celebration of my marriage. Finally, I could take it no longer and stepped out into the party. My eyes scanned the crowd until I found Ranma talking with Akane, Kasumi, and Dr. Tofu. I smirked when I saw Dr. Tofu take Kasumi's hand in his.

Striding casually, I was exactly two feet away from the group when Mousse stopped me. "Mousse, you idiot!" I screamed in Chinese. "I was just about to... Hahahaha... Shampoo come find Mousse to dance. Big day for Shampoo. Be happy." I dragged him even closer to the group (about only a foot away) and absentmindly let him lead me through a few steps.

"Shampoo, it's getting pretty late. Maybe we should head back to bed. It is our wedding night after all," he suggested hopefully, trying to catch my eye.

"Yeah, yeah. You go ahead. Shampoo be right there." I waved him off and butt straight into their conversation. "Hello, Ranma. Akane." I nodded coolly in her direction. "Shampoo happy see you all here."

"Oh yes. Thank you for inviting us, Shampoo." Kasumi gave one of her usual sweet smiles.

"No problem! All be here for happy happy day!"

"Yeah, this is great, Shampoo. We're all married now. Well, 'cept Ukyou but that's another story... Hey, did you know Nabiki's gettin' married, too?" Ranma was making a pathetic attempt at comfortable conversation.

"Oh really? Mercenary-girl marry who?" I feigned interest as I watched his arm slip around Akane's fat waist. Hmph. I still think I'm much prettier than her.

"She's gonna marry Kuno."

"Hmm... money-boy... yes..." I glared at Akane who was giving me a triumphant 'back off' look. "That very good for her. We all happy happy. Right, Ranma? Shampoo especially very happy. Mousse good man. Might be duck sometime... but make good busboy. Maybe bring better business to Nekohanten."

"I'm very happy for you. It's good to know that you're okay with the me not marrying you thing. I was hoping that it wouldn't drive you off the edge and kill me in my sleep or somethin'." He laughed nervously and sweatdropped.

"Oh Shampoo never do anything like that. Ranma not airen. Ranma be good friend?" That was the way. Get back into his good graces.

"Uh... sure. Why not?" He sweatdropped again when Akane shot him an icy glance.

"Hey, y'all. Nice shindig, Shampoo. I can't believe you actually married Mousse." Ukyou walked in on us much like I walked in on them with Konatsu trailing behind her faithfully.

"Shampoo very happy spatula-girl here," I said through clenched teeth. She didn't look like she was here exactly to pay her respects.

"Yeah." She looked around and then, to my horror, asked, "So, you figured you'd make Ranma jealous by marrying Mousse, eh?" and eyed me suspiciously.

"Aiya. No, of course not. Shampoo do no such thing. Marry for good reasons... uhhh... Mousse make good husband, work hard, love Shampoo, been Beijing once... " I grinned viciously at her and secretly desired to claw her eyes out. "What spatula-girl up to? Have new lover? Pig-boy?" Hehehe... That should shut her up.

Ukyou turned red and I swear to Kami that I saw steam come out of her ears. Akane smuthered a laugh and seemed amused by the whole situation. I wasn't about to let that little hentai get the best of me, so I smiled a little and said frostily, "Akane, you good? Lucky get Ranma. Arranged marriage convienient, ey? You no beauty queen anf no big breast either. You be very happy with Ranma."

Her smiled faded and she turned a shade redder than Ukyou who was looking calmer now that the humiliation was placed on Akane's head. "Listen, Shampoo. Just because it's your wedding doesn't mean I can't pound you right here-"

"Now, dear." Ranma placed his hand on her arm to stop her from advancing on me. "I'm sure Shampoo means nothing by that." Akane was still clenching and unclenching her fist.

"I don't know about you, Akane, but no one's here to start a fight." Ukyou eyed her spatula carefully.

"I'm not the one who started it, am I, Ukyou?" Akane also eyed the spatula.

"SHAMPOO!" I turned to see Cologne beckoning me into the bedroom. "Shampoo, Mousse is waiting for you! Get over here, girl."

I had no choice but to leave the bickering bunch and the beloved Ranma for my own torture to come. Mousse stood up when I walked in and inhale deeply. I knew I looked beautiful. Somehow, all the wrong people noticed. I had convinced Cologne not to make us go further with the wine drinking ceremony and all that stuff with the sharing a pig's heart. That part had always repulsed me. Instead, we sat next to each other on the bed silently and with a safe distance away from each other. Actually, he was trying to get closer but I kept moving over until I was on the edge of the bed and about to fall off. Finally, he had his arm around my waist and started to undress me.

It was utterly passionless. I felt as if I was doing a sort of duty, a religiuous sacrifice. I was a martyr. I was giving myself up for a better cause. Who was I kidding? As Mousse's hands moved over my body, I thought of Ranma. As he kissed me and breathed heavily on my neck, I pretended it was Ranma. As he laid back down exhausted with his spent manhood, I pictured Ranma lying there next to me. It was as if Ranma was haunting my bed.

I know it was unfair to Mousse that I was doing this to him. I could have sworn that he woke a few times in the night scanning the bed for a third person. He could feel an unwanted presence there. The ghost of my beloved slept between me and my husband, creating a wall that kept any love I ever had potentially had for him safely at bay. I knew Mousse loved me and I tried so hard to care for him. That night, I laid awake staring at the ceiling, thinking all these things, and I reached over and took his hand. There was one emotion I was always able to reserve for him; pity.

Notes : That's chapter 4 for ya. Oh, I thought it was sad. Chapter 5...
