Note: This story is a response to Shina's Challenge. The main pairing here is Shizuma/Sango with a little bit of Ryoko/Sesshomaru. In this, I'm making Shizuma a tiger youkai. I figured that I should since Shizuma shows off his fangs when he smiles or grins. This story takes place in the modern era. Anyway, I'm going to take a shot at this.

Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright: A Real Bout High School Challenge

Shizuma watched from a high tree branch as a beautiful woman with a large boomerang strapped to her back invaded his territory. He knew she was hunting him down as a demon slayer. She had been doing that for a while now. But for her to hunt him down in his territory, that was brazen of a slayer, much less a human. To this day, there were youkai slayers. They originated in the Feudal era.

Usually, he would kill anyone, youkai or human, who would dare trespass on his lands. However it was different this time. There was something about this particular human that interested him. Shizuma sniffed at the air and caught her scent. It was the most exhilarating scent, like spices and jasmine. Her scent was as spicy as she was bold.

Sango, with Kirara by her side in her larger form, knew this particular youkai was nearby. He killed a human for no reason, or she was led to believe. The victim was found burned to death. She knew she had to kill this youkai before he killed anyone else, before he killed her. Kirara looked up at a tree and growled. Sango knew her trusted friend caught the youkai's scent up in the trees.

“I know you're there, youkai. Come on out.”

“Heh, you've got some nerve hunting me in my own territory, human. What if I don't come out? Are you going to chase me out? Is that it?”

His answer was Sango's weapon, the Hiraikotsu, thrown in his direction. Shizuma suddenly jumped from his perch and landed directly in front of the slayer, barely dodging it. Sango was standing face to face with a tiger youkai.

He was handsome in a wild sort of way, not refined like Sesshomaru. His royal blue hair flowed down his back with a headband keeping his hair from falling onto his face. There were two black stripes on each cheek. He approached her with caution. “So, you're the famous slayer everyone's talking about. And to what do I owe the pleasure of this intrusion?”

“My mission is to hunt you down and kill you for murdering an innocent human, youkai.”

Shizuma growled at this. “Innocent? Is that what you've been told? You humans are such hypocrites. You kill each other every day and yet, it's a major deal when a youkai like me kills a human. However, it's okay for a human to go after youkai. For your information, this so-called `innocent victim' challenged me to a K-fight to the death. Let's just say he lost. It was either kill or be killed. I wasn't going to let him kill me. And one more thing, not every human is innocent and not every youkai is evil. You should know that better than anyone considering that you travel with that neko youkai over there. It's people like you who piss me off.” He then formed a ball of flame in his hand and threw it at her. The slayer and Kirara barely had time to dodge.

“I see. You're not an average youkai, are you?”

“You got that right, honey. I've beaten many youkai in K-fights as well. Should I make you regret you tried to kill me? Then again, you're too pretty to have your life wasted on a technicality.” Shizuma approached her and cupped her chin with a finger. He bent to sniff at her neck. “Your scent is delicious as well. You know what? I'll let this slide this time and I suggest you go home. Next time, I won't be so nice. By the way, what's your name, honey?”

“Not that it's any of your business, but it's Sango.”

“Well then, let's call it even for now. Your boldness reminds me of someone I used to know. Unfortunately, she skipped town and never came back.” He turned to go back home.

“Wait.”

Shizuma turned around. “What's the matter?”

“It's only fair that I get your name, youkai. You already have mine.”

“I knew I forgot to mention something. I'm Shizuma Kusanagi and the owner of this land. My house isn't too far from here. I'm sure we'll meet again, Sango.” Shizuma then took off.

Sango stood there, watching as Shizuma left. She was in a daze as she couldn't keep the demon's handsome features out of her head. Kirara, now in her small form, nudged her leg and mewled. The slayer looked down at her friend. “I'm fine, Kirara. Let's go before anyone else comes by and sees us.” She realized that was the name the dead human's brother mentioned to her.

Meanwhile, Shizuma entered his mansion with a sigh of relief. He strolled in to see his sister Tomoe preparing a lesson plan for her class tomorrow.

“It's about time you showed up, Shizuma. Where have you been? Dinner's been ready for a few hours.”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I had a little run-in with a youkai slayer. She was trying to go after me because of that human I killed in the K-fight I had not too long ago.”

Tomoe sighed with exasperation. “Damn it, when are you going to give up these K-fights and concentrate on your music? I knew this was going to happen. You draw too much attention to yourself. And you're getting a little too old for that crap anyway. Why don't you follow Keiichiro's example and quit these fights? Besides, you have a concert tomorrow night.” Keiichiro Nagumo is Tomoe's husband, mate and a former K-fight champion fifteen years ago.

“You've gotta be joking. It was the human who challenged me to a K-fight to the death. There was no way I was gonna walk away from it. As far as my music, don't you worry about it. I have a rehearsal tomorrow morning. Where is that husband of yours?”

“He's in the dojo training. Aren't you going to eat dinner?”

“I'll be right back. Tell the cook to keep dinner warm.” Shizuma headed towards the dojo. He found Keiichiro Nagumo, another tiger youkai, meditating in the center of the floor. He was a little taller than Shizuma and more muscular. His dark auburn hair was short and spiky which was getting a little longer and his tail slowly swished from left to right. He sensed the other youkai's approach.

“Another K-fight, Shizuma?” He opened dark amber eyes.

“How'd you find out?”

“I was there and you didn't notice. You didn't have to kill that human. His skills didn't compare to yours.”

FLASHBACK

A man was sent flying into the crowd, out cold. It was clear that Shizuma was again the victor and the crowd cheered. Daisaku Kamiya, a kitsune youkai and Shizuma's personal assistant, was videotaping it as usual.

“That was awesome as usual, Mr. Kusanagi.”

“Damn right it was. Anyone else want a challenge?”

“You bastard; that was my brother you beat up. You filthy youkai, I challenge you to a K-fight to the death.” The crowd gasped at his words. Little did Shizuma know, another tiger youkai was watching from afar.

Shizuma stood and pondered this. Daisaku approached Shizuma. “I wouldn't do that if I were you. What if the youkai slayers got wind of this? We could get in big trouble if you kill him.”

“I'll take that chance, Daisaku. No way am I gonna back down now. If he dies, it's all his fault for upping the stakes.” He turned to his new opponent. “Ok, a K-fight to the death, it is. It ain't too late to back out.”

“I'm not backing out. When this is over, you'll regret beating my brother by paying with your life.”

“You're on, buddy. Don't say I didn't warn you.”

Daisaku couldn't believe it; a K-fight to the death. The hidden spectator watched with interest as the K-fight was about to begin. Despite his love for the camera, he turned off the camcorder and watched in the crowd. His friend was in and out of K-fights for several years. Ever since Ryoko left for Osaka, Shizuma was concentrating more on racking up wins than on his music. But this time, it was different. He had never been challenged to a K-fight to the death.

And so, the K-fight began. Shizuma traded punches and kicks with his opponent. He had to admit that he was pretty good for a human, but the youkai knew his opponent was nowhere near his match. The only opponent who was ever his match now lives in another city. How he missed her.

During the fight, the human pulled a knife from seemingly out of nowhere and managed to stab him in his side. Shizuma gasped and looked down at the knife in his side. He growled and looked up at the human. “So, you want to up the stakes, huh? Well, I can arrange that.” With that, he set his youki loose. The human opponent's eyes widened as an unseen wind started to blow as Shizuma's eyes started to glow red and his claws and fangs lengthened. The stripes on his cheeks widened. He then crouched into a fighting stance.

“Now, let's continue, shall we?”

Keiichiro continued to watch as his mate's brother released his youki on his opponent. The human pulled out another knife and started slashing at him. Shizuma was much faster and stronger now. He pummeled him with his punches, slashes and kicks. His opponent was fighting to stand when the youkai fighter conjured a flame in his hand.

“Now, we end this. TIGER OF FLAME!!!!!” Shizuma's attack charged at his opponent in the form of a large tiger and incinerated him in an instant. The crowd gasped as he fell to the ground. Daisaku stood with his mouth open in shock as his friend's opponent's charred body lay in the center.

The man who lost the first fight came to and found his brother's charred body. He looked up to see Shizuma standing over what was left of him. Tears started to form in his eyes as he stood up and pushed the youkai out of the way. He kneeled over his brother's charred body and glared up at Shizuma.

“Damn you, you monster. You didn't have to kill him.”

“It was either kill or be killed. He asked for this and he got what he wanted; a K-fight to the death.”

“It doesn't matter, asshole. You didn't have to go that far with him. He wasn't as skilled as you were. I'm gonna make sure you pay for this, Kusanagi.” He turned and left.

Keiichiro had seen enough and left the scene. Soon, the crowd dispersed and Daisaku approached Shizuma. “I think we should get out of here, Mr. Kusanagi. That guy is going to find a youkai slayer for sure. Come on.”

“So, what? He's just mad because I beat him and killed his brother. You expect me to let that weakling kill me with his knife? I don't think so.”

Meanwhile, the human headed towards home when he spotted a woman wearing a black bodysuit with a small cat with two tails on her shoulder. She had a large boomerang on her back and a katana on her left hip. He knew he had to make Shizuma pay for killing his brother.

“Excuse me, miss. Are you by any chance a youkai slayer?”

“Yes, why do you ask?”

“I need you to kill a youkai for me. Whatever price you want, I'll pay for it if you kill him.”

“Who is this youkai that you want me to kill, sir?”

“His name is Shizuma Kusanagi. He is a tiger youkai with tanned skin and long dark blue hair. That bastard killed my brother in a K-fight and I want him to pay for what he's done. He was just a kid. He didn't have to die.”

“I see. Where can I find this youkai?”

“He's not too far from here. In fact, I'll take you where he is.” With that, the human took her to Shizuma's location. “By the way, what's your name?”

“The name is Sango. I'll take care of this youkai for you.”

Daisaku tried desperately to get Shizuma to leave, but he wasn't budging. “Fine, if that's the way you want it, don't say I didn't warn you, Shizuma.” He turned and left his friend standing in the same spot.

Shizuma turned to see the man he beat with a beautiful woman standing next to him. He shook his head at this. “Man, I never expected someone like you to stoop so low as to get a slayer here.”

“I told you you'd pay for killing my brother.”

“This must be the youkai you've been telling me about on the way here.”

“I must be really popular. You must be the slayer this loser hired. You're real pretty for a slayer. Let's see if you can catch me, slayer.” Shizuma took off for home and Sango went after him.

“Let's go Kirara.”

END FLASHBACK

“As you saw, that guy pulled a knife on me and stabbed me in my side. What the hell was I supposed to do? He said it was to the death. No way am I gonna let some weak human with a knife kill me.”

“You could have at least knocked him out the way you did his brother. You really need to control your temper and your youki.”

“Whatever, it doesn't matter now anyway. You wanna spar?”

Keiichiro sighed. “I just finished training. We'll do it some other time.” He stood and headed towards the main house with Shizuma.

“What happened after I left?”

“Nothing, really. That punk managed to hire a slayer who had the gall to follow me home and attack me. And she was a pretty chick who could kick some ass. She reminded me of Ryoko.”

“You baka. I knew you shouldn't have killed that human. I won't tell your sister about this. She'll just worry even more and making my mate worry about anything is the last thing I want.”

“And you worry too much yourself. Daisaku was pissed when I said I wasn't budging after that K-fight.”

“Your sister's right though. You should concentrate more on your music than these K-fights. Why do you think I stopped with the K-fights? I realized there's more to life than that. You'll have plenty of time to practice your Kamui skills.”

“Yeah, yeah. Man, am I hungry. I'm gonna get some dinner.” Shizuma went to the kitchen to eat while Keiichiro went in search of his mate. As soon as he finished, he picked up his phone to make a call.

“Daisaku, it's me. I want to you to get me all the information you can on a youkai slayer named Sango. I'm sure she lives in the Youkai Slayer's neighborhood. Thanks.” The youkai hung up the phone afterwards.

“That Sango; she's smart, feisty, not to mention bold. I like that in a woman. What would it take for me to make her mine? I wonder.” He pondered that thought as he went to the piano room with a big grin on his face.

Meanwhile, Sango returned home to find her brother practicing with his Kusarigama in the backyard.

“Hi, Kohaku.”

“Sis, Kirara, you're home. How was your day?” Kirara leaped towards Kohaku, jumping on his shoulder.

“It was interesting. I was hired to kill a youkai named Shizuma Kusanagi. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to kill him.”

“He must have been pretty powerful. Wait, I heard he's a concert pianist. Why would anyone want him dead?”

“According to the guy who hired me, he killed his brother in some sort of fight to the death. This Kusanagi says the dead human challenged him to what was called a K-fight and it was to the death.”

“A K-fight? I heard those fights can be brutal. Usually, K-fighters end up with cuts and bruises, but I've never heard of K-fights ever being to the death. Those are rare.”

“How do you know so much about them?”

“Well, I've seen a few of them. Don't worry, I've never participated in any of those.”

“I see. I'll try to find him and kill him when I get the chance. Anyway, I'm hungry. Is there anything to eat?”

“Dinner's on the stove. You'll have to warm it up.” Sango then headed towards the kitchen, leaving Kohaku to resume his practice. She had her dinner and turned on the evening news. There was a story in the entertainment segment of the broadcast that her latest target was having a concert tomorrow night at the Tokyo Dome. She then went to her computer to find out everything about Shizuma Kusanagi and find out about getting tickets for the concert.
Sango managed to get pretty decent seats at the last minute. She wondered if her brother would be interested in going.

“Hey, Kohaku, interested in going to a concert tomorrow night?”

Kohaku had just finished practicing and came out of the shower. “Sure, if you're paying for the tickets. Who's performing?”

“My target, Shizuma Kusanagi. It turns out that he's a concert pianist, a very successful one at that. He seems to be running in their parents' footsteps. Both of his parents are musicians who travel frequently. He lives in the family mansion with his sister Tomoe, who is a schoolteacher, and her husband, Keiichiro Nagumo, former K-fight champion and alumnus at Daimon High School. Anyway, it's for 8:00. You'll get your first look at him.”

“This should be really interesting. I'm there. It's good to know your target also went to Daimon High School. You mentioned Keiichiro Nagumo. He happens to be the phys ed teacher there. He practices an art called Kamui, which is very powerful.”

“You know what's even more interesting? Being a concert pianist hasn't stopped Mr. Kusanagi from participating in K-fights. According to the info I got, he's been in over 50 of them; 46 wins and 4 losses.”

“Only 4 losses? He must be really skilled.”

“He really is. But I haven't tested his skills, so I'm not sure how good he really is. I was crazy enough to chase him to his home. The Kusanagis have a lot of territory on the outskirts of Tokyo. It probably means that I invaded their hunting ground. They are extremely rich.”

“Well, I'm headed to bed. Goodnight, Sis.” Kohaku left for bed.

“I'm headed to bed also. Goodnight, Kohaku.” Sango turned off her computer and got ready for bed. Night came and went. The slayer turned over on her bed and looked at her clock which read 9:00 AM. She got to make some breakfast. She figured Kohaku was off to school. He was a senior at Daimon High School and it was his last semester there. He didn't know if he wanted to go college or not. Chances are that he would probably go at another time, not right away.

He somehow joined the yearbook committee and had access to every yearbook ever published. He was also a member of every martial arts club in existence. Overall, he was a very outgoing person underneath that shy exterior. However, Kohaku never let it be known that he was a youkai slayer.

Sango decided on what to wear for the concert. She figured her target was rehearsing for his concert tonight. The slayer wondered if she would be able to see him rehearse. However, she knew that would be impossible. Knowing the attire, it would probably have to be formal. Luckily, she had a nice form-fitting dress and checked to see if her brother had anything formal. Kohaku also had a nice suit that he could wear, though his wardrobe consisted of jeans, T-shirts, and Daimon High school uniforms.

Meanwhile, Daisaku had given his good friend all the information he gathered on Sango, from her date of birth to her address. Shizuma was looking at it with interest. He was engrossed in everything when he heard a knock on his bedroom door.

“Yes?”

A servant opened the door. “Mr. Kusanagi, it's almost time for your rehearsal. May I bring the car around?”

“Sure. I'll be right there.” He turned to Daisaku. “That's all the info you got on this girl?”

“Yeah. She's never failed a job. Miss Taijiya is a very successful slayer. She also has a younger brother, Kohaku, who's also a slayer. It is really a small world. He also goes to Daimon High.”

“Really? You know if he's ever been in a K-fight before?”

“It doesn't look like he is. Well, we should get going.”

“Yeah.” And so, Shizuma and Daisaku headed towards the car, which is front of the mansion. The car had tinted windows to keep the public from seeing him. After all, he was a very musician. His albums sold worldwide, as did those of his parents. While in the car, he read and re-read everything on Sango. “I wonder if she'll be at the concert tonight.”

“Maybe she will. I just hope she doesn't try anything tonight.”

They soon arrived at the Tokyo Dome. The car went through the private parking area used by many performing artists. Shizuma went in through the private entrance, towards his dressing room. He checked to make sure everything was to his liking. Daisaku watched with interest as he did so.

“I made sure you had all the necessities; your outfit for tonight, snacks, and a few practice dummies.”

“That's cool. I could get some practice in along with the rehearsal. Let's go, shall we? That way, Tomoe and Keiichiro won't bite my head off.” The two youkai went to the stage. The tiger youkai did a sound check and started rehearsal. The crew listened as he played. His music sounded heavenly. He played classical pieces and moved on to something modern and back.

The music continued for several hours. When rehearsal was over, the crew clapped and Shizuma smelled fresh tears in the air. He knew some of the crew members were crying because his music touched them.

“Thanks a lot. Be ready tonight at 8 sharp.” Shizuma turned and went backstage towards his dressing room. He wanted to get some fighting practice in before he returned home. Daisaku sat and watched.

“Mr. Kusanagi, have you ever thought of starting a worldwide tour? I mean, it would be good for you. You'd get to see the world. And you won't be under the watchful eyes of your sister and her mate.”

“I'll think about it. Right now, I got this concert tonight. I'll worry about it when it's over. Well, let's get out of here for now.” Shizuma and Daisaku left for the mansion. They knew that Tomoe and Keiichiro were home by the time rehearsal was over. When they entered the mansion, they caught an all-too familiar scent. It was the scent of mating in the air and Shizuma knew where it was coming from. He could also hear moans, growls, and grunts coming from his sister's bedroom.

The youkai sighed and went to get dressed. He had 2 hours until his concert and he didn't want to be late. He saw that dinner was already prepared and ate with Daisaku.

“Let me guess. Those two are enjoying themselves before the concert. Never thought Keiichiro was that wild in bed.”

“Shizuma, I don't think that's any of our business. Besides, you have other things to worry about.”

“Yeah, I'm gonna shower and change. You should take it easy until the concert.” Shizuma left for his bedroom and his adjoining bathroom. He undressed and headed towards the shower. As he showered, he couldn't help but think about Sango. Thoughts about her aroused him and piqued his interest in the slayer. He growled at this, wondering what it would be like to be with such a woman. He mentally admitted that she was a fiery one. How she reminded him of Ryoko. Damn, if only she hadn't left for Osaka, he would have had her as his mate. Just overhearing his sister with her mate made him curious of the prospect.

As he dressed, Daisaku entered his bedroom. “Are you ready? The car's out front.”

“Where are Tomoe and Keiichiro? I thought they're going to the concert. They should hurry up already.”

“They already left.”

“What? Without changing or anything?”

“They don't take as long as you. They should be on their way to the Tokyo Dome. Come on, Shizuma.” The two youkai went to the car.

It wasn't long before they arrived. It was about half an hour before show time. Shizuma was in his dressing room, freshening up. Daisaku watched as many people, including Keiichiro and Tomoe, took their seats. He noticed that Sango and Kohaku were in the audience. He immediately returned to his friend's dressing room. “Shizuma, you're not going to believe this, but your slayer is here with her brother.”

“Well, well, I should play a dedication to her then. This is going to be so interesting. I can't keep the fans waiting.” Shizuma headed to the stage. The entire audience cheered and applauded as he approached the piano. It wasn't long before he began to play.

The music he was playing was hypnotic to Sango's ears. She noticed him looking in his direction. She could have sworn that his eyes were glowing in the pale spotlight. Her breathing became labored. She started to feel warm all over her body. What was he doing to her?

The slayer wondered what his body looked like underneath his outfit. She knew he was pretty tall. The way he stared at her was like a predator stalking its prey. Sango felt like she was in a trance, staring into those eyes. She soon felt herself pool between her legs.

Meanwhile, Keiichiro and Tomoe were enjoying the music. Tomoe snuggled close to her mate. “See, this is what he should be concentrating on. His music is on par with Tousan's and Kaasan's.”

Keiichiro purred, nipping at her neck. “True, but he won't listen to reason. Shizuma will do whatever he wants, no matter what anyone tells him.” He caught the scent of a female's arousal and he knew it wasn't from his mate; not yet at least. The youkai turned towards Sango's direction and noticed her squirming in her seat. He then nipped Tomoe's ear so as to not gain unwanted attention. “Don't look now, but it looks like the slayer is in the audience. I'll be right back.” Keiichiro stood from his seat and left for the moment.

Sango felt uneasy with Shizuma's intense stare and snapped herself out of her trance. She decided to go to the ladies room. “I'll be right back, Kohaku.” She got up and left.

The slayer was near the ladies room when she sensed the presence of a youkai nearby. She turned to face a tall tiger youkai watching her with intense dark amber eyes. Those eyes reminded her of a certain dog youkai. She could tell that he was powerfully built underneath his suit and his aura emanated power. His tail swayed slowly behind him. The slayer knew he could be very formidable in battle, as he was a K-fight champion.

“Keiichiro Nagumo, I presume?”

“And you must be the slayer Shizuma told me about. Sango Taijiya, I believe?”

“You did your homework, I see.”

“So did you.”

“What is it that you want from me?”

“Nothing in particular. I see why Shizuma has taken an interest in you. Beautiful and powerful for a human. He was right. You do remind him of a samurai girl we knew.”

“So I've been told. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some personal matters to attend to in the ladies room. Consider this a temporary truce since we are in a public area. But after tonight, Kusanagi-san is my target once again. And if you try to interfere in any way, you'll be a target as well.”

“Very well.” Keiichiro bowed and went to the men's room. He growled as the slayer's words sank in. If Shizuma wasn't after this woman, he would have had her as his second mate. The former K-fight champion might consider having the school doctor, Nanako Hishimura. Tiger youkai, by nature, usually take more than one mate. He looked into the mirror. He really needed a haircut.

As she stared in the mirror, Sango couldn't help but wonder why Shizuma was staring at her while he played. She had to admit he was extraordinary on the piano. She imagined his fingers on her body. Would he use them the same way as he did on the piano? Probably so. Just thinking about him aroused her yet again.

“Damn it.” She turned away from the mirror and headed towards her seat. Kohaku looked concerned. “Are you ok, Sis? You were taking a long time. You're not sick, are you?”

“I'm fine. It's just that Keiichiro Nagumo is in the audience. I just met him on my way to the ladies room.”

“Really? That's not surprising. He is Shizuma's brother-in-law after all.”

“True. You're right about one thing. He is a very powerful youkai. I could tell by his aura.”

“I'd be careful around him if I were you. Like all tiger youkai, they can be very territorial.”

“I called a temporary truce since we're in the Tokyo Dome, but tomorrow, he's fair game.”

“Yeah, let's enjoy the music. I have to admit, he's awesome on the piano. I don't see why he continues to fight.” For the rest of the night, they said nothing and enjoyed the rest of the concert.

The audience clapped and cheered as Shizuma finished his latest piece. “Now, I dedicate this last piece to a special lady in the audience tonight. I call this piece, `Sango's Rhapsody'. This is for you, my dear Sango, wherever you're sitting tonight.” Sango gasped at the mention of her name.

Shizuma started to play. As he played, Sango found herself in a trance once again. Somewhere in the back of her mind, a voice was telling her this was his intent; to seduce her through his music. There it was again; the feeling of arousal. Her breathing quickened and she started to feel hot. She silently prayed for him to stop playing. Kohaku noticed this and tried to snap her out of her trance, but to no avail.

Shizuma could sense her arousal and smiled. He knew his musical seduction was working. The next step in his plan was to find a way to have her. He also knew that every male youkai in the audience could sense her arousal as well. When he finished his dedication piece, he stood up and bowed, looking in Sango's direction. The audience stood up and cheered. Many had tears in their eyes due to his last piece of the night. They continued to cheer as he left the stage. Sango quickly left for the exit and Kohaku followed right behind her.

Daisaku was visibly moved by his music. “That last piece was beautiful. You took time to write that, didn't you?”

“Of course I did. Did you actually think that all I did was get into K-fights? It took a couple of days for me to write it while everyone was working. Everything's going according to plan. Sorry that I didn't tell you about it. I'm on to step 2 of my plan.”

“And that is?”

“Getting her into my bed as my mate, of course. I still have some kinks to work out. You can do something for me, Daisaku.”

“Sure, name it.”

“I want to perform here again tomorrow night and the night after that. I'm thinking of going on tour and taking that lovely little slayer with me. Take care of the arrangements, buddy.”

Daisaku was ecstatic about this. “I'll get on it right, Kusanagi-san.”

Shizuma decided to look for Sango after the audience dispersed. He had a feeling she was still around. Sure enough, he found her just outside the auditorium with her brother.

“Well, well, if it isn't my little slayer. So, have you enjoyed the concert? And don't lie to me. I can tell that you did.”

“Don't let it go to your head, youkai. You're still my target, you know.”

“I figured that I was. But still I'd thought my performance would take your mind off that.” Shizuma approached her and cupped her chin as he did just the night before. He bent down to sniff her neck while his free hand caressed her back and moved towards her rear. Sango gasped at the sheer gall of this youkai touching her butt. How dare he; he was as perverted as a certain monk she knew.

She moved to slap him but he quickly blocked her hand. “Now, now, no need to get rough. Your scent is as spicy as your spirit. We should continue this some other time, at a more private place. I'm having another concert tomorrow night. Besides, I'm not bad, once you get to know me.” He then released her left her where she stood while Kohaku witnessed what took place.

Meanwhile, Keiichiro and Tomoe made it backstage. They ended up in Shizuma's dressing room, kissing and touching each other on a couch. Keiichiro nibbled at her mark. His tie was already undone and his shirt was partially unbuttoned, exposing his broad chest. Tomoe ran her fingers through his growing hair.

Keiichiro purred at this. “I really need a haircut.”

“No, I like your hair like this. I was wondering about something.”

“What is it?”

“How would you like it if you had Nanako join us?”

This was surprising to Keiichiro, who released her for the moment. “You wouldn't mind?”

“Of course not. I've noticed how you looked at her from time to time. Who knows? It might be fun for both of us.”

Her mate thought of the prospect of having twice as much fun. “She'd have to understand my nature, though Todo-san might not like the idea. But she is a grown woman and her `healing' techniques could add some flavor. I'll definitely talk to her.” He purred at the idea of having two mates.

Daisaku entered the dressing room to find Keiichiro and Tomoe in a compromising position. He blushed at the sight of this. “Tomoe-san, Keiichiro-san, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were here. I thought Shizuma was here.”

“Knowing him, he probably looked for that slayer. I hope he claims her soon. He just doesn't know when to quit.”

Shizuma soon arrived. “Oh, brother, you couldn't wait until you got home for that? Anyway, I'm ready whenever you are.”

The two mates got up and straightened themselves up. They all went to the private car and left the arena.

Meanwhile, Sango and Kohaku were already home. She rushed to the bathroom and locked the door. Kohaku was confused at this, but shrugged it off. She must be going through the motions.

The older slayer couldn't believe what just happened after the concert. That youkai had the nerve to try and seduce her right outside the auditorium. As much as she tried to fight it, a part of her welcomed the seduction and wanted more from him. She shivered at the thought of Shizuma. Damn him for making her feel the way she did. She then showered and changed into her bedclothes. While she showered, Sango imagined him caressing her body like he would the keys of a piano. Her breathing quickened at the thought.

She forced herself to stop thinking about him. She was supposed to kill him. That was what she was hired to do. Sango thought about it. She was considering not doing the job. If she killed him, she would have been paid for her services and not worry. Then again, he would be difficult to kill as he was a very skilled fighter.

She soon entered her room and went to sleep. Hopefully, her brother wouldn't get suspicious. She'd figure out what to do tomorrow.

Everything was going according to plan for Shizuma. Soon, he would have her. He might try to get in contact with the washi in Osaka, but he thought better of it. For now, he turned in for the night. Daisaku can prepare a schedule for a world tour tomorrow. He purred at the thought of the slayer in his bed. Tomorrow was another day.

His alarm clock sounded. Shizuma growled in irritation as he was having a rather pleasurable dream about his intended before he was interrupted. He went to his private bathroom and showered.

When he was dressed, Shizuma found his sister and her mate having breakfast. He greeted before he grabbed a bite. He had many things to do and rehearsing for tonight was one of them. It may have been a spur-of the-moment decision, but he figured why not? He didn't want to waste his musical talent, despite the fact that he still participated in K-fights.
He found Daisaku waiting for him in the formal living room. “Well, are you ready, Shizuma? I already made a tentative tour schedule for you starting two weeks from today in Osaka. You'll definitely like that since Miss Mitsurugi lives there now.”

“Osaka? Perfect. I might get to see Titan Girl, provided she buy a ticket for my concert there. Good job as usual, Daisaku.”

“Thank you. The car's out front. Shall we go?” And with that, the two got in the car and left.

Meanwhile, Sango decided to go for a walk around town while Kohaku was preparing for school. As she was walking, her client approached her. She could tell that he was getting rather impatient.

“What the hell is taking you so long to kill Shizuma?”

“And a good morning to you too. Killing a youkai takes time and patience, buddy. I'd back off if I were you or I might beat you to a pulp instead.”

“Sorry, but I want him to pay for killing my brother.”

“Didn't he engage in a K-fight to the death? You know there are two sides to every story.”

“It doesn't matter. The fact that my brother is dead is reason enough to want him dead. he was just a kid. Shizuma is nothing more than a filthy youkai who should die like every youkai in existence.”

“You really are pathetic. I'll do whatever I can to get rid of him. You'll know when he's dead.” Sango then resumed her walk.

“The nerve of that guy; every youkai must die. I don't kill youkai to wipe them off the face of the earth. He's not Kami to decide that.” She saw a very expensive car with tinted windows drive past her. It stopped a few feet away from her. The slayer had no doubt in her mind that the car belonged to no one other than Shizuma Kusanagi.

The driver got out of the car and walked to the back he opened the door and out stepped said youkai. He approached her. “My, my, it's funny how we keep running into each other. Yeah, I saw that pathetic human. He still wants me dead. His brother asked for it.” He took yet another step towards her. “Whether you're working for the guy or not makes no difference to me. One thing is certain; you will be mine. If you'll excuse me, I have a rehearsal to go to. See you around, Sango.” He took her hand in his and kissed the back of it.

“Oh, and I look forward to this challenge.” The car then drove away.

“Damn it, why does this guy have such an effect on me?” Sango then headed home.

Kohaku was in the middle of kendo practice when Keiichiro stopped by for a visit. The slayer was surprised as he knew the gym teacher kept to himself most of the time.

“Oh, Mr. Nagumo, what a surprise. What are you doing here?”

“I just felt like stopping by, Taijiya-san. Actually, I wanted to test your skill. People tell me you are highly skilled.” Kohaku swallowed hard at this.

“Thank you, sir.” He then charged at Keiichiro and was blocked. `He's good.'

“My turn.” The youkai went all-out on the young slayer. Kohaku managed to block several of his attacks, but he kept staggering at his opponent's awesome power. He also got a few hits on him.

“It seems that they're right. You really are skilled.” The other members of the kendo club stood in awe at the gym teacher and their star member.

Yanaga watched the sparring match. This brought him many memories when Ryoko and Tatsuya would spar. Kohaku was just as skilled as she was when she was a student. From what he gathered, she now lives in Osaka.

The sparring match was now over. Kohaku ended up with a few bruises. Keiichiro fared a little better. “You weren't bad, Kohaku.”

“You were great, Nagumo-san. I hope to spar with you again sometime.” The tiger youkai nodded and bowed. He then left the dojo. `I have to tell Sango about him. She better be careful.'

It wasn't long before classes were over and Kohaku headed home. He had news for his sister. He arrived home to find Sango watching TV. Kirara was curled up on the couch.

“Hey, sis. How was your day?”

“It couldn't get any worse. First, that annoying prick who hired me to kill Kusanagi shows up, then my target approaches me. Damn, why do I let him do this to me? Am I falling in love with him?”

“Only you can answer that question. Oh, yeah. I had a sparring match with Nagumo and I have to say that he's very good and very powerful. You should be careful should you fight him.”

“I'll make a note of it. I hear he has another concert tonight. I'll wait until the concert's over, then I'll strike. If I succeed, I get paid. If I fail, so be it.”

Kohaku was shocked at what she said. He had never seen her this way. It was as if she wanted to fail in killing Kusanagi. He was starting to believe she was falling in love with him.

“Anyway, I have some homework to do. Be careful, Sis. You too, Kirara.” Kohaku went to his room upstairs.

Sango prepared dinner. She went to her room to get her Hiraikotsu and katana. There was some poison powder in a jar on her shelf and she decided to take it just in case. She brought what she needed downstairs into the living room. Kirara was already awake from her nap and mewed.

“I know. It's time to eat. We don't want to get this guy on an empty stomach.” She and the nekomata ate in silence. In a few hours, she would go after Shizuma Kusanagi.

Meanwhile, Shizuma was getting ready to perform. Daisaku, Tomoe, Nanako, and Keiichiro were in his dressing room. Nanako, the school doctor, was now Keiichiro's second mate.

“By the way, Shizuma, you should get ready after your concert. It seems as though the little slayer will strike tonight.”

“Let her come after me. I've got a little surprise for my dear Sango and I'll need your help with it.”

“Help? The great Shizuma Kusanagi is asking me for help in his plan? This is new. Fine, I'll help. Tell me what you have in store for her.”

“I'm thinking of a way to make her my mate. We'll talk after the concert.”

Keiichiro pondered about his plan and smiled. He couldn't wait to find out what Shizuma had in store for the little slayer. Several hours later, the concert was over. Everyone stood and cheered. Many females screamed Shizuma's name. When everyone left, Shizuma headed for home.

Meanwhile, Sango and Kirara waited a little distance from the youkai's home. She wondered how long it would be until Shizuma arrived home. Moments later, she saw a car pull in and motioned for Kirara to take to the sky as she saw Keiichiro enter the mansion, followed by a kitsune and a female youkai who looked a lot like her target. This youkai must be a relative. Another woman entered, followed by Shizuma. He paused and looked around before entering.

Shizuma closed the door, knowing that Sango was nearby. “It looks like we have a guest this evening. Why don't we get ready, Nagumo?”

The slayer had her Hiraikotsu ready when a burst of flame knocked Kirara out, making her fall to the ground. Sango had little time to jump off of the nekomata. She felt for Kirara's pulse, which was still strong. The nekomata would be out for a little while, otherwise she was fine. She turned to see Shizuma and Keiichiro standing side by side.

“So, it was you who did this.”

“Yep. Do you always sneak up on youkai in order to kill them, and on their territory? Really, Taijiya, you should know better than that.”

“Stop wasting time. Let's do this.”

“Very well. However, since you're in my territory, we do this on my terms.”

“What terms are we talking about?”

“Simple; we settle this once and for all through a K-fight. Winner wins by KO or submission.”

“A K-fight? I accept your challenge.”

“That's right. The loser does whatever the winner wants. That is, if I win, you're mine for the taking. If you win, you do whatever you want with me. Keiichiro will be the referee. What do you think of the terms, Keiichiro?”

“All right. I approve. And there will be no outside interference should the nekomata come to.”

Shizuma took off his blazer and shirt to reveal a tight dark tank top. Keiichiro noticed that he was a little bigger than he was in high school. Shizuma got into a fighting stance as did Sango, who put her Hiraikotsu aside and settled for hand-to-hand combat.

“Oh, you can use your weapons if you wish, but not your poison powder. That would be a little unfair. Don't be surprised. I know all about your tactics.”

“The fight is over when one of you is KO'ed or submits. Ready? Begin.”

The fight soon started. Sango began by using her Hiraikotsu. She managed to get a few hits on Shizuma. Otherwise, he was moving very fast. Keiichiro watched with interest. He heard Kirara come to and try to help her mistress, but he blocked her from coming any closer.

“I'd stay if I were you, nekomata. No outside interference. Besides, your mistress is a big girl. She can take of herself.” Kirara had no choice but to stand by and watch. The fight intensified as the slayer combined her use of the Hiraikotsu with kicks that would jar an ordinary opponent. However, the tiger youkai was not an ordinary opponent. She knew how to keep him on the defensive.

It didn't last as long she wanted it to. Shizuma managed to knock the Hiraikotsu out of her hands and go on the offensive. The last time he fought like this was when he and Ryoko were in high school. They traded blows but neither fighter was willing to give up.

Both were getting exhausted and suffered cuts and bruises. It was difficult for them to maintain their balance. Shizuma fared a little better. Keiichiro noticed this. “Are either of you able to continue?” Both opponents nodded in response and resumed their fight.

Sango had fought in battles with many youkai, but not like this. Shizuma was different. He fought to be the best fighter around, not to kill for the hell of it. He had honor, honor that very youkai had, honor that she respected.

Shizuma was enjoying this fight. He could tell she fought with a lot of heart. She wasn't like most humans. She was tough, strong and had a lot of spunk; not to mention beautiful. He knew he had to end this, or else one of them may end up dead. This time, he would be the victor. And so, he put as much as power as he could into his punches and kicks. His opponent was starting to stagger more. This was his only chance.

“TIGER OF FLAME!!” A large flame flew out of his hand in the form of a tiger's head and slammed into Sango, who blocked the brunt of the attack with her katana. But she fell to the ground.

“Looks like you win, Kusanagi.” The slayer soon lost consciousness. Keiichiro nodded. “Winner by KO, Shizuma Kusanagi.”

Shizuma was gasping for breath. By then, his tank top was torn and his body was covered in bruises. He was even too exhausted to crack a smile. `Too bad Daisaku wasn't around to tape this.'

Kirara ran to her mistress' side, licking at her face. She had since returned to her smaller form and mewed with concern. Keiichiro approached her. “She'll be alright. She lost consciousness; that's all. Bring her weapon. You'll both stay here tonight.” The nekomata transformed into her larger form and carried the Hiraikotsu while the other youkai carried the slayer inside.

Shizuma managed to enter the mansion with Sango's katana and close the door. “That was an awesome fight. I want to do this again some other time. Now she's all mine.” He yawned and went to his private quarters.

Keiichiro looked down at the unconscious slayer in his arms. “Very skilled indeed.”

I'm going to stop here for now. I'm trying to figure out what to do for the next chapter. Shina's right. There should be a Real Bout High School category on AFF.net. I'm glad mediaminer.org has such a category. I have so many ideas of pairings. Later. ^_^
