Celeste here. Max came up with an amazing idea with this one. I love the character of Yoshikazu, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun writing from Docor Xianxi's point of view.
Log 1
April 23
Doctor Xianxi Jung
The first day of work and my first Log. My patients seem to be quite the ordinary cases, all criminals, though that is to be expected at a state insane asylum. I did, though, get graced with one high profile patient. He is considered the legend of this place since I, as I have read, am his 76th doctor in 5 years at this asylum. He is a spook, especially among the guards who work this prison. They take pride in who has the biggest story of the horrors of Yutaka Yoshikazu.
The guards are who I obtained my first glimpse of this man from. I was being escorted by two of these men towards the specially modified room that I was to hold my appointment with Yutaka Yoshikazu in. I was silent, of course, since I found no need to be discussing anything with the guards, since I was a doctor, and everything I said would easily go over their heads. The guard to my left was the first to speak and break through my quiet.
"You're going to talk to Yoshikazu...I really don't envy you miss, that guy's been here for 7 years, he seemed to be doing better after 2 years, but the second the restraints came off, he caused a riot, and killed over a 100 people."
There it was, my first horror story of the infamous Yoshikazu, and I had yet to get half way to the meeting room. The other guard pipped in next. "And after that incident, he's drove every single doctor that sees him insane, some still haven't recovered" he said. I was unamused by their attempts to scare me. I quickened my steps, not out of fear, but out of annoyance. I Felt the need to get as far away from these imbeciles as I could. "I think I will be fine," I clicked, trying to silence them again. I was having to shift the brief case I was carrying. In my hands I held a clipboard, and on it a few pages of Yoshikazu’s file, in the brief case, was the rest of said file.
At the end of the long hall was a single door, no window, no handle, and from the bulk of the wall, that door had to be at least several feet thick. I was a bit surprised at the amount of effort they had put into securing this one room, since I honestly didn't believe that there was such a high risk from this one man. I would soon learn that I was not one to make assumptions on this 'Yutaka Yoshikazu.'
I let out a small huff, the prescience of the guards hovering over me like I was a child was growing irritating. I jammed the code into the door and slid my security card. The door hissed, opening up on it's own. The room was almost like the other interview rooms. Clean white walls, a single table, no windows. What surprised me was that there was only one chair. Only then did I catch the gun turrets in the corners.
A mechanical voice broke through my curiosity, announcing the entering of the prisoner. "Security level 9 Red, Use of Lethal force Authorized.” I directed my attention to the door on the opposite side of the room. It too hissed open, as two guards walked in, dragging what looked like a metal gurney. Turning it around and tipping it up I found that there was a man strapped to it. Four more guards where standing at the doorway. These guards had much heavier armor then the other ones, and I was left to ponder just what made these highly trained men hide under layers of armor, while I was left in nothing but my business suit. The man, my patient, was strapped to the metal bed as if he were a demon they were afraid of letting loose. Every joint on his arms and legs had a strap over it, not to mention a heavy one around his neck and waist, and a bite mask on top of that. I was starting to think that I was horribly under informed about this man, since I had never seen a patient, in any asylum, so heavily restrained.
The guards turned leaving the room. One stopped at the door before it closed. “We'll leave you two now. If he so much as looks at you funny, get away from him and call for help. Got that Miss Jung?” He asked. I rolled my eyes, shooing them away with my hands. When the door sealed shut I let out a small sigh. I placed my brief case down on the table, looking at the clipboard, and then at Yoshikazu. “Hello Yutaka Yoshikazu, I'm Doctor Jung,” I said, seating myself in the chair, looking up at him. He was staring at me, quietly, and completely still. He didn't seem to blink, and there were moments of silence before he spoke to me.
"Subject 74, Xianxi Jung, How are you doing this day Miss?"He spoke to me as if he were the doctor. I couldn't tell if he was mocking me, or if he had absorbed this way of speaking from the other doctors. “How was you're trip here? Any problems? Have you experienced any feelings of dizziness? Nightmares during you're sleep? Feelings of paranoia?" He went on. I just watched him as he spoke, though with that gaze, He was analyzing me as much as I was him.
I thought it would be best to indulge him for now. “I've been fine,” I told him. “Though I do wish my cat would stop using my potted plants as a liter box,” I said, jotting something down on a pad. I, of course, owned no cat. This was a little test. There were several reports of him knowing things he shouldn't have. Addresses, names of spouses, little things such as this. Anything that could be found in a profile. How he would've gotten hold of said profiles I do not know, but there had to be a way. I didn't believe that he could read minds or anything.
He was speaking sensibly enough. I was a little surprised. Coming in and expecting a raving lunatic and ending up with this was almost a bit of a let down. "Ever tried burring a piece of onion in the soil? The smell should discomfort the cat...” he said. I was surprised, writing that down. Not only was the sensible and logical, but it was a good idea as well. I was almost convinced he had to have some sanity...That was....until he spoke again...
“But if that doesn't work you can always break its legs and bury it in the plant" He said, again calm...now disturbingly so. I was a bit alarmed at how suddenly that small spout of 'insanity' came. I jotted down a few quick words, noting how that suddenly came to.
"Would you be so kind as to answer a little riddle for me Doctor?" He asked. I looked up from my work. Now I believed myself to have a very good 'poker face' and I was having to try my best to keep my face as expressionless as possible. “Alright,” I responded, nodding him ahead. Though I couldn't see his mouth, his still unblinking eyes seemed content with my agreement.
"What walks on four legs, then on two, then on three legs?" he asked. A seemingly innocent riddle, I had even heard this one before. “That's simple, a Human, he crawls as a child, runs on two legs as a man, and uses a cane when he's old,” I answered.
There was a small glint in Yoshikazu's eyes. ”Very close,” He said. "The answer is a baby, true it crawls on all fours, but cut off its arms then it can only wiggle around on two, give it a cane and it'll hobble around on three.” His voice was so calm, and he was speaking so matter of factly that I was a little unnerved. A dead baby joke was a little cliché for a prank. He had definitely put thought into that answer though, he had spent time deciding that, it hadn't been straight brain to mouth flow.
Again he forwent the silence and spoke to me, inquiring of me my fears. “Well I'm really not afraid of anything,” I had answered. “My biggest fear is probably the fear that I'll come home and find that my sister trashed the apartment. What about you Yoshikazu, you don't seem to have many fears,” I asked, jotting a note down onto my pad. This question got me quite the answer.
“Of course I do, fear is the dominate emotion after all,” He answered. "You're here right now, because you need a job, because you need money, because you're scared of having to life out in the streets. You get married because you're scared of being alone, you have children because you're scared of not leaving anything significant in the world, you go to the doctors when you're sick, because you are afraid of dieing,” He said, staring at me as he spoke. I was getting to him now, getting into his views. It wasn't that he had no fear, but he embraced it, and there for was not afraid to be afraid.
“Fear isn't always present,” I told him, looking up from my pad of notes over to him. “With out fear life is boring. How do you fare Doctor? Going Back home to you're small little apartment on Green Lane 37, house 22B, Floor 7, Door number 79. You unlock the four locks on the door, going inside, only to realize the entire apartment smells like cat urine, and you're favorite plant is all dug up again" he said, still staring at her, his gaze unwavering. "Then you clean it up, take a hot shower, and then just sit down in front of the TV screen, cat on you're lap, just vacantly staring, not even paying attention to the channel, just waiting for something to happen...How does being fearless make you feel, at the end of your day, Miss Jung?” he asked. I was astonished he knew any of this. Some of those things were just impossible to get. How did he know how many locks were on my door? One thing gave him away. Cat, he said Cat. I loose all recollection of time here. I honestly do not remember what happened for quite some time, but the following event I am going to recount tells me that there is much more to Yutaka Yoshikazu then was believed before....
