Chapter 6/ Tell Me I'm Dreaming
"Please, don't leave. I'm gonna run up stairs and change. We can make popcorn and watch a movie. But before
that, I can apologize and explain," I suggested, while slowly backing up toward my room. He didn't cover his eyes,
he just looked into mine. He finally nodded, then blushed. I smiled then ran upstairs, too awkward. I got changed
into a blue graphic tee and some white and blue shorts. I turned off my light, and noticed my phone was still lit up.
Out of curiousity, I walked over and checked my texts. 'One New Message: Spinner' I clicked Open, and read,
'Are you with him? I could treat you so much better. I could prove it to you sometime this week, please' I
selected Delete, and ran downstairs to find Eli attempting to work the microwave. Our microwave is so hightech,
I'm still getting used to it. "Skip the popcorn, chips?" I asked, while staring at the bag of undercooked popcorn.
"Doritos?" "You read my mind!" After dumping some chips into two bowls, I sat them on the table and grabbed
my wallet. I need a new wallet, one without a past that makes me feel guilty around my boyfriend. "What are you
doing?" Asked Eli. "I thought we were watching a movie. The movie store is just around the corner." He turned on
the tv, then flipped through what was showing and what we had recorded. "How about The Notebook?" My mom
and I loved that movie. It was a great love story, a real tear jerker. I'd never watched it with anyone but my mom,
so I agreed. I sat down, and he stood up. I watched as he walked over and dimmed the lights. Then, returned to
the couch and snuggled up next to me. "Wait!!" He removed his thumb from the play button and looked at me.
"I never got to apologize or explain. I am so sorry I called you Spinner. Don't take it the wrong way. I got a text
before I changed from Spinner. After I read it, it made me really mad so I ouldn't stop thinking about it. Even
when we were kissing. I feel horrible, but it's the truth," I lied. There was evidence that I got an upseting text
from Spinner and nobody knew I had feelings for him, so no worries right? Eli thought this over, then asked to
see the text. With no regrets I ran upstairs then returned my cell to him. "Umm, you have a new message," he
stated when I handed him the phone. "Just a sec," I hit Open, and read, 'Meet me at The Dot Friday night, I
will show you how you deserve to be treated.' I almost pressed Delete, but then remembered I deleted that other
text from Spinner, so I kept this one as evidence for Eli. I handed him the phone again, this time with the text
already on the screen. After he read it he asked, "Okay. So do you wanna go out Friday night?" That was
tomorrow. "Sure, I'd love to." He smiled then returned to movie position, with the phone left on the coffee table.
The movie began, and I began to relax.
About an hour into the movie, Eli's arm was over me, and my head was resting against his chest. The rise and fall
of his breathing and his steady heartbeat made it hard to stay awake.
Soon enough I was asleep on Eli's chest. When the movie was over Eli realized I was asleep so he turned off the tv,
and carried me to my room.He set my down on my bed, kissed my forehead, and whispered into my hair,
"Goodnight, beautiful." And with that he left. He didn't know but when he was carrying me to my room I woke up.
When I knew for sure he was out of my room I opened my eyes and smiled. Then, I saw he was asleep also. My
mom wasn't home yet, so it wasn't an issue. She said he could stay until she got home, but she wouldn't kick him
out if he were asleep. I remembered my phone downstairs, so I went down and grabbed it. Once again, I had
another text from Spinner, 'Meet me at The Dot at 9:00 p.m., I promise you everything that I can treat you like an
angel' I was so angry that I could just scream! How dare he say that Eli isn't good enough for me! I texted back
'Can't. I'm going out with ELI Friday. I don't know what you mean by saying you can treat me better, but I don't
wanna find out. Goodnight.' This time I did scream. I couldn't help myself. Eli didn't hear, thank God. I really wanted
him to stay.
The next morning, I wasn't surprised to see I was wrapped in Eli's arms. "Good morning," he said. I turned, still in
his arms, and noticed he was already awake. "Oh. good morning. How long have you been up?" "Well, long
enough to make breakfast and chat with your mom before she went to work, clean up our snacks after the movie,
and still return for about ten minutes until you woke up, now," he explained sweetly. Aw, how perfect can one guy
be?! "I'm starting to think I won the boyfriend lottery," I said, then turned completely to the other side, facing him.
"I've known I won the girlfriend lottery," he just said 'girlfriend', I could scream! In a good way. What's with me and
screaming lately? I mean, seriously? "You said breakfast?" "Yeah, I saved some for us." "You mean you waited to
eat the breakfast you cooked, with me? Even after watching my mom eat it?" "Yes, that's what I meant." "Oh, well,
thanks. Let's go enjoy our meal then!" I declared, while grabbing his arm and pulling the both of us out of bed.
Girlfriend lottery, huh? I feel so guilty. "Shoot!" "Problem?" he asked with a 'you're crazy' look on his face. Great.
"Oh, not you. I just kinda remembered I have a fake date tomorrow. And a real date today. I have to get ready for
both!" "What you have on is fine with me," he smiled, while his eyes trailed from mine, down. He noticed I had a
'I'm wai-ting' look on my face, and his cheeks flushed bright red. "Okay, now that I have your attention," I
laughed, "Would you mind if we went to the mall as our date today? I would like to get more for tomorrow and pick
up something for today." "Perfect. I saw this cool jacket I thought about getting," he smiled in a sneaky way that
made me wonder what he was really thinking. "I like a punk rock chick with hair just like Rihanna, like a go-go girl
who dance like Lady Gaga, They the girls that start the party, (Hey!) So Baby could it be you, could it be you, be
you, be you...," my phone went off from upstairs. "Just a sec," I didn't change my ring volume, that's weird. I could
of sworn it was on vibrate just last night, unless...no he wouldn't go through my phone like that. Oh, what do you
know, another text from, drumroll please, Spinner! 'Oh, I see. Well, you're still welcome at The Dot, emo boy too(:'
Reply. 'Emo boy? You know what?! I'm getting REALLY sick and tired of hearing that label on him! Ugh, get a life
dude & quit hating on my boyfriend because you're jealous!' There, I felt better. I walked back down the staira, and
found Eli, waiting patiently. "So glad you could join us, dear," he said sarcastically. Eli, a personality? Get real! The
boy is only made up of 67% Sweetness, and the rest is divided up between mysterious and cute. No personality
intended. Maybe he did have a personality though. We have only known eachother for a week, maybe he's shy
and will open up a bit. Maybe today/tonight? "Are you going to sit down or resume staring at me and biting your
lip?" he winked when he said it, meaning he liked it. But, I still hate being caught when staring at a cute guy,
boyfriend or not. Regardless, I took my seat and acted as if nothing happened. "You know something?" "I know
lots," I answered. "You're so cute." "Same to you, hun," I smiled and reached for the syrup. Chocolate chip
pancakes, yum!
After the delightful breakfast, I ran upstairs and threw on some clothes. Almost literally. I just grabbed what I could
find. Yes, it was technically half of our date and I should spend more time on a date outfit. Instead, this time I was
going to buy the clothes I was wearing for the date, on our date. So, really it didn't matter what I wore before I
bought the clothes for the other half of the date. Yes, I knew. Over-thought. That's how I roll, deal with my over
explained plans! I ended up finding a pair of faded capris, an off-the-shoulder black shirt, and grabbed my
zebra print purse. Since, whatever outfit I buy will match with black and white, the purse was a safe choice.
And off we went. With him driving. My car, thank God! He drives a Hearse! Nothing wrong with driving the only car
in the family, but really? Dead people are carried in there! Some cars are meant for work only. He seemed happy
to drive my Jeep, I can't blame him, I love it!
"Please, don't leave. I'm gonna run up stairs and change. We can make popcorn and watch a movie. But before
that, I can apologize and explain," I suggested, while slowly backing up toward my room. He didn't cover his eyes,
