Chapter 3 - Rules of Transporting Theme: old polina great big sea

They were traveling at a steady speed through deep space. Jude was only 24 but he could pilot almost anything. He had done as much training on his adoptive parents’ farm, driving speeders and tractors that it wasn’t a surprise to anyone when he aced his piloting license test at the age of 16. He spent all of his free time wandering around the shipping ports on Catéra’s moon. That’s where he met Billy, an old black puma who was a little grey around the whiskers. Judas liked that the old cat didn’t care that his shuttle wasn’t as big or shiny as the newer models docked at the port. The Excalibur wasn’t big, but it was fast and could hold its own against the big rigs that were becoming popular amongst the younger captains.
At first Billy didn’t want Jude anywhere near the ship, let alone having him tag along. But after lots of persistence, and eventually stowing away in the cargo-hold, Billy gave in and taught Jude everything he knew about transporting. “You flew us into a meteor shower!! Focus On the task at hand! That rule number 5. For Bastets Sake Judas you can fly better than this!”
Jude rolled his eyes at Billy’s mention of the rules. They were rules that Billy had come up with before they had met. He enforced these rules no matter what the situation. “Don’t look in the package, focus on the task at hand, don’t get involved” They weren’t even rules that the other transporters in the galaxy used.
“Sorry Billy, guess I’m just tired. I haven’t really had a chance to rest the last couple days” Jude said as he carefully manoeuvred the ship out of the way of the meteors. The ship shook suddenly as one hit the port side, and another nearly missed the front of the ship. Turning the ship sideways he flew through two giant ones and was soon in the clear. Flicking a small switch above them, as he breathed a sigh of relief.
Billy sighed as he motioned Jude out of the pilots’ chair. “Were out of the storm, but now were off course...go check and see if the cargo survived. Then go get some sleep” Billy said adjusting the height of the chair.
Not waiting time, Jude eagerly got up. He desperately needed this break. He quickly climbed down the ladder to the cargo hold. The young cat walked around tilting boxes back up right. The cylinder was still locked in place, but the blanket had fallen off. He walked over and was about to place the blanket back over top when he noticed the girl inside. He bent over to get a better look through the plexi glass window. The girl didn’t even look real, she looked almost doll like. But she was one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen. The girl was prettier then the elves on Maligne, which two seconds before now he thought was impossible. Hesitantly he placed the blanket back over the container understanding two of Billy’s rules. “If you don’t look, you can’t get attached” Quickly he scrambles up another ladder into the cabin and galley end of the ship. He went down a short hall and turned left into his bunk, and plopped down on the bed. If he hadn’t been so tired he would have just laid there thinking about the face, but instead he immedietly drifted off into dreamland.

Jude had spent all night asleep, dreaming about the girls face. He dreamt about rescuing her, and having her fall madly head over heels in love with him. He rolled over hugging and kissing his pillow till he fell out of bed onto the hard floor causing him to wake up.
Billy walked in and looked down at him “Good you’re awake. Means you can help me unload the shipment...you looked didn’t you” He said glancing down to see the tent that had grown in Judas pants.
Jude blushed angrily, covering the bump with a pillow. “Ya I did, I couldn’t help it. The blanket was off, and i had to put it back on.”
“Have a cold shower then meet me downstairs” Billy said shaking his head as headed towards the cargo bay. He opened the cargo bay doors, to see that the slave traders were there waiting for him. “Top of the morning” the puma said pulling the brown envelope out of his back pocket and handing it to one. “I’ll grab you your order” he said walking over to the cylinder and unlocking it from the holders and guiding it too the sellers. One of the lizard like creatures looked for a second under the blanket to check for any damage, nodding with a smile. The other waited for the nod and handed the a blue envelope with payment to Billy.
Billy opened it and counted the bills inside “Always a pleasure doing business with you gentleman, have a good day” He said as they guided their merchandise out of the ship, and into their speeder. Just as they were leaving Jude jumped down from the ladder with hope of seeing the girl before she was gone... He ran to the entrance of the cargo hold, covering his eyes from the sunlight. His eyes squinting as Jude scanned the bustling crowd of this space port for the space cylinder.
“Rule number 2 don’t look in the package, Rule number 3 don’t get attached, and Rule 1 don’t be stupid.” Billy said loading some packages onto a small speeder. “If you don’t look you can’t get attached, if you’re not attached you can’t get stupid” Judas said walking back into the cargo hold with a disappointed look on his face.
