The rest of the meal was uneventful. After they were finished Jun changed into something more fitting for meeting his father. After struggling with his pants for another few minutes he was finally ready. Of course, his hands were shaking even as he thought about this. He knew what he had to do, but that didn't mean that he was prepared for it.

Anna changed quickly and kissed her parents then took her father's keys. She waited for Jun before walking to the car. They got in and she grabbed his hand. He was shaking. "I'm with you, Jun," she said with a soft smile. She turned on the car and start to his house.

Reporters lined the outside of his father's house. Apparently even his influence had its limits. They had to battle just to drive close enough to get to the house. Jun pulled his sleeves as far over his cast as he could as they got out. Taking his house keys, he opened the door and ushered Anna inside before quickly closing the door behind him. Taking a deep breath, when he opened his eyes he was staring into the face of his father.

"What are you doing here?" His father wasted no time with pleasantries. "You disgrace our family name. You bring shame upon this house. Then you have the nerve to return here? You are no son of mine! Leave this house at once!"

Jun looked at his father. Just like before he was shaking. "Dad...please, I just want to talk."

His father reached out and grabbed Jun's cast. Squeezing, he made Jun fall to one knee. "You are a disgrace, and a shame. I have no words for you. You are dead to me."

Throwing his arm back, Jun fell to the floor. Still, he tried to stand. "I want you to leave Anna's family out of this! I'll recant. I'll tell them I got into a fight and blamed you. Just leave Anna and Reisha out of this. They haven't done anything to you!"

His father stared at him. His eyes cold as Jun stood before him. "Get out," he hissed.

"Not until you promise me you'll leave them out of this."

Mr. Higarashi just laughed. "What could you possibly do to me, boy?" He took a step and raised his hand. "I have no problem teaching you another lesson."

Anna punched his father in the face then instantly regretted it. Her hand cracked on contact and she knew she broke something. "Damn it! Freaken hurts like hell!" she yelled. However, it didn't stop her from standing in the way of Mr. Higarashi and Jun. She pushed at the large man to get some feet between them. "Leave him alone, you bastard!" she screamed. "You lay another hand on him and I swear I'll kick your ass!" Ok...so she could at least try anyways.

"Anna!" Jun couldn't believe that she'd just done that.

Mr. Higarashi smiled. Wiping the blood from his lip, he looked not at Anna but at Jun. "So, you have a female fight your battles for you? Pathetic. I want you both out of here now!"

"Dad...please. I don't...I mean, we can make this go away. All you have to do-"

"I have done nothing wrong. You were the one who brought shame to our family. You know how to fix it." With that, Mr. Higarashi turned and walked away. They weren't even worth the trouble.

Anna opened her phone and looked at the footage she took of Jun's father. She got everything up to her punching him in the face. She helped Jun to his feet then closed her phone. "I'm not making this go away, Jun. As soon as we get outside, I'm giving them this video."

Jun put his hand on top of hers. "No," he said, watching his father go away. "I can't do this. He's...my father. I can't disgrace him further."

Anna scanned his eyes. "Jun, if I don't do this, your father will get off scott free. Going to school will be hell for you and we both will be blamed for making it up." She let her head fall. "Jun, if I don't do this, my father will never find work unless isn't small stuff, and he's our only income." She looked at him again. "We will have to move and...I can't leave you here. I'm not just doing this for you, I'm doing it for my family, and for...me."

Jun bit his lip. He could take the suffering and abuse, but not if it meant that others would suffer. He felt his eyes tear up, but he quickly closed them to keep any of them from escaping. This was his father, despite everything...he did love him. That was why this was hard. "Okay," he whispered.

Anna wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. "I promise you, Jun, we are in this together. Whatever happens, I'm with you," she whispered into his ear. She pulled back and grabbed his hand. They walked out together and to the reporters. They instantly started asking about her hand that was now swollen and bleeding. She ignored it and handed showed them the footage while they took pictures of her and Jun. "You've seen the evidence and you know the truth. I won't stop talking about this until Mr. Higarashi is in jail," Anna stated then started to her car. She got Jun in first and then got in herself. Fighting the crowd, she started back to her house.

When she pulled up and walked inside her mother rushed to her and started ranting about her hand. "It's fine, Mom," Anna said not taking her eyes off Jun.

Jun didn't say a word until they got back to Anna's house. He apologized for allowing Anna to get hurt, then he excused himself to go to the bathroom. Shutting the door behind him, he just leaned against it. Tears rolled down his eyes as he slumped to the floor. He was such an idiot. All of this could have been avoided if he'd just kept to the cardinal rule. Don't let anyone close. That was the reason he never had friends or even a girlfriend. He knew that his personal life would end up getting involved and just ruin everything. Wiping the tears from his eyes he stared down at his cast. He hadn't even realized it until now, but his dad's grip had actually cracked the cast slightly.

Shaking his head, he stood up and walked over to the sink. Splashing water on his face, he was surprised by his own reflection. He looked utterly pathetic. Running a hand through his hair, he realized he felt like throwing up.

Anna pushed her mom away and went upstairs. She placed her hand on the bathroom door. "Jun...I'm sorry...this is all my fault," she said. "Is there anything I can do?"

"Anna," her mom said at the bottom of the stairs, "we need to take you to get your hand looked at."

"Please, not now. I'll be down in a bit," Anna replied and looked at the door again.

Jun heard her through the door. Taking a deep breath he looked at himself once more. He couldn't do this. He couldn't be close to someone and yet still detach himself. "I'm fine," he assured her. His voice level and calm. A sheer miracle and a testament to his will. "You should go have your hand checked out."

"I can't leave you like this," she said. He hated her. She just knew it.

Closing his eyes, he sighed. Unlocking the door and opening he stared at her. "I'm fine," he told her once more. "You should be more worried about yourself. Your family has already done so much for me. Please, tend to yourself now."

Anna stepped back. Did the room suddenly get colder? She turned from him and went down stairs. Her mother walked her to the car while her father stayed home with Jun. The ride to the hospital was silent. Once there, her mother rubbed her back while the doctor stitched her up and started wrapping her hand. She didn't break it, but she messed it up pretty badly. When the doctor asked what she did she said nothing and her mother had to speak for her. Anna's heart hurt. How long was Jun going to be upset with her? Would he eventually resent her?

Jun walked downstairs and turned on the television. No sooner did he do so then they started airing Anna's video. He wanted to turn the channel, but he was captivated by the sickening display. Turning off the television, he checked to see what time it was. "I need some fresh air," he told Anna's father. "I'm going to take a walk to clear my head."

"Don't go far, Jun. Reporters are everywhere and I don't want you getting hurt," he said.

Anna looked at her hand as her mother drove them home. "You really like him, huh?"

Anna looked at her mom. "What?"

"I can see it in your eyes, Anna. The way you are always fighting for him, the way you are always smiling at him, you just can't shake him can you?" he mom said with a light smile.

Anna said. "He's what I call untouchable. All the girls have it bad for him so me liking him is like another head in the crowd. It means nothing to him. He doesn't date and he doesn't care to ever try. Besides," Anna looked out the window, "I don't think it would work out. He would break my heart."

Jun nodded, but he didn't promise. He hurried. That was all he could do. He had grabbed one of Anna's hoodies from the closet. It wasn't quite his style, but it would suit his needs. Pulling the hood over his face and pushing his hands in the pockets, he effectively managed to hide who he was. It was a decent jog back to his house, but he had business to take care of. His father wasn't going to relent, which meant that he had to make a decision on what he was going to do.

He knew his house better then the reporters, so he had no problem sneaking around them to the back yard where he was able to make his way through to the back entrance. His father should be at work now. Hopefully this fiasco hadn't stopped him from being a workaholic.

Anna asked her dad where Jun had gone when she got home and Jun was no longer there. After being told he went for a walk, Anna decided to go after him. She had hoped she could talk to him and maybe fix the gap between them so she didn't feel so guilty. She walked out of the house and picked a way to go, hoping it was the right one.

He couldn't help but to feel weird. Breaking into his house was a new experience for him, but at least some of his delinquent behavior came in handy. He was quiet as he entered his house. He listened for any sign that his father might still be there. Thankfully he didn't hear anything. Going up to his room he quickly grabbed one of his bags and began grabbing stuff that he would need. Namely his laptop. Kneeling by his bed, he opened up a small compartment and pressed in the numbers to the safe beneath it.

He'd been stashing money here for quite some time. Mainly he used it whenever his father got angry and he needed a place to stay. He'd grab the cash and hole up in a motel for a night or two. He took all of it out and threw it in his bag. The last thing he took was a picture of his family, back before they'd been broken apart.

Grabbing his car keys, he threw his bag over his shoulder. The car was in his name, so his dad couldn't say that he stole it. He knew his father would look for any reason to bad mouth him. It hurt to think like that, but he knew it was true.

Before long, Anna was lost in her thoughts and...completely lost in the reality too. She looked around and didn't recognize anything. Ok...don't panic. She reached in her pocket to get her phone. Now she panicked. She left her phone at home after coming home from the hospital. She had the worst luck in the world.

Jun pushed his stuff into the car. He could already see reporters trying to rush him. Turning on the car he honked the horn and began to push past the people. This was so much easier when everyone actually moved away from the car. He had to pull out and take a wrong turn just to avoid all the reporters. This was just ridiculous. Didn't they have anything better to do then to just harass his family?

He had to circle around several blocks just to avoid them. As he drove, he noticed a familiar face. Pulling the car over, he called out to her. "Anna?"

Anna turned around. She pushed her hair behind her ear as she looked at Jun's car. "You're car? Did you go back? Did he hurt you? Are you ok, Jun?" Anna asked as she ran to his door and looked at him through the window.

Jun had to reach over with his good hand to unlock the car so she could get in. "I'm fine. He wasn't at home. What are you doing out here?"

Anna got in. "I was looking...for you. But I got lost," she said as she closed the door.

"You still don't know the area well enough," Jun said with a small smile. "That was foolish. I was going to come back." There was a pause. "But thank you for worrying about me."

Anna paused. He was going to come back. She needed to hear that. She needed to know that if he left, he would still come back. "I'm not foolish, I just have bad luck," she said as she drunk in his smile. He didn't do it often so she had to cherish the small ones. Her phone beep and she opened it. "Rei just got out of school. She says the whole school is talking about us. I wouldn't be surprised if reports start collecting at my house and at the school."

Jun sighed. "That's just what your family needs. Reporters hounding you." Shaking his head he went through another turn before coming up to Anna's house. Already he saw at least one news van parked outside. More were sure to come.

Anna and Jun walked in Anna's house. There was a note on the table. Her parent had gone to meet some friends about helping Jun with legal matters and would be getting home late. They left some money on the counter for takeout. Anna turned to Jun. "Well..." She had no idea what to say.

Jun carried in his bag. After reading the note he sighed. This was getting out of hand. Reaching out, he hesitated but finally placed his hand on her shoulder. "Would you like me to order us something from the bento box? I think that they deliver."

Anna looked at his hand on his shoulder. Again...he touched her on his own. There were the butterflies. She stepped away from his touch. It was like teasing herself. She knew she couldn't have him, so she needed to quit putting herself in situations that could make her feel more than she already did. "Sure, sounds good," she said.

Jun nodded. Going to their phone he placed the call. Even as he talked to them, he kept his eye on Anna. She looked flustered for some reason. When he got off the phone he started toward her, but stopped. Looking down at her hoody, he frowned. "Sorry, I forgot to ask if I could borrow this." Perhaps that was why she seemed uneasy.

Anna smiled at him. "I told you that you were welcomed to use what you want. It looks good on you," she said.

He had a sheepish smile on his face when she said that. "Thanks. Girl's fashions seem to be all the rage nowadays." He smirked. The worst part was that he wasn't joking. He doubted that she'd actually been out to the real parts of Japan. It was then that he got an idea. "Anna, why don't I show you Japan tonight?"

Anna sighed. "Sadly, I don't think my parents would let me go. With all the stuff going on, their over protective program hit over drive."
