Chapter Two: Our Fates Grew Evident
The lounge of Silver Star Talent Agency was more than just a place for guests to wait for meetings and such. It was pretty much the main hang out spot for all the talent under contract with the agency. They’d go there to hang out, pass time, and await new assignments.
This was where one Inari Shinguji currently found himself, laying on one of the many couches that sat around the lounge. His eyes were closed as he listened to the sound of the television play.
Inari Shinguji had been under contract with Silver Star as an Actor, Musician, and basically anything else for quite a long while. Ever since high school, he’d been active in the performing arts and he was now living his dream… or at least he was close to it.
Technically, he was the number two most popular in Silver Star. The first most popular? Well…
“Chew Ejikieru Bubble! It’s the gum of today!”
Inari’s eye twitched as he sat up and looked at the television screen. There he was, the so-called ‘next big thing’ in Japan, doing a shameless bubble gum commercial. Inari should have been the one to get that part, not that talentless Chiyuu Echizen.
“He’s doing commercials now?”
Inari blinked as he looked over to his side. There stood his best friend of over fifteen years. Well-built with a dark tan and shortly trimmed blonde hair and matching aqua blue eyes, Klaus had been by Inari’s side ever since their high school days. He’d moved to Japan from America when he was still young and he and Inari bonded quickly. They’d been best friends ever since and even when Inari chose to pursue his dream to become an actor, Klaus came with him, working as sort of a bodyguard/manager-ish type.
“I guess so.” Inari spat as he stared into the screen at the man he despised. Of course, Chiyuu didn’t know of his inner hatred. Oh no, on the outside, Inari and Chiyuu were best pals and had been for the longest time. Little did Chiyuu know of Inari’s ultimate goal. To finally defeat Chiyuu Echizen and become better than him for good!
A light rumbling was heard from outside as Klaus and Inari stared at each other in confusion.
“What was…” Klaus started.
“that?” Inari finished.
Suddenly, their question was answered as the door to the Silver Star lounge burst open. A bit of smoke gathered around the entrance as Inari jumped to his feet, Klaus taking his place in front of his friend. They stared at the smoke cleared and they were greeted by the determined, smiling face of one Chiyuu Echizen.
The raven-haired man strolled slowly through the old hideout. The place was dark, beset with various odd types of furniture. A small television screen played in the corner and smoke filled the ceiling. The questionable surroundings of the place were filled with even more questionable people. They were all criminals, most killers, simply waiting around looking for something to do for money.
This was sort of a meeting place for the crime of Tokyo. It was kind of like a bar, just a place for criminals to gather. Every now and then, someone would wander into the place and offer someone a job. What that job was could never be told.
The raven-haired man sat down calmly in one of the chairs of the meeting place. A questionable young lady strolled by and handed the man a beer which he sipped casually. It wasn’t long until another person joined him.
“Ah, Kirihiko.” The man said as he sat down across from his friend. This man was shorter and skinnier but with a much more drastic look. He was shaven completely bald with tattoos riddling with face and body. There wasn’t a place you could look where you wouldn’t find a tattoo. “How’d the hit go last night, old friend.”
“It went very well.” Kirihiko stated as he took a sip of his alcohol, “Thanks for the concern, Jun.”
The tattooed faced man smirked, “Hey, got to look out for my buddy, eh?” The man laughed loudly, “Got any other jobs lined up yet?”
“Not at the moment, which is why I’m here.”
“Bah, things are slow.” Jun said, crossing his arms in disgust, “Don’t expect to get anything today, pal.” Jun nodded slowly to himself, “Hey, wait a minute. Where were you last night? I thought we were gonna meet up and find some girls!”
Kirihiko thought a moment. He looked at the ground, trying to think of what caused him to miss his meeting. It then clicked in his mind.
The boy with the colorful hair.
“Some kid was about to get mugged. I helped him out and I guess it passed my mind. Sorry, Jun.”
“You saved some brat from getting mugged?” Jun asked, his eyes wide as he looked at his old companion, “Kirihiko, you’re one of a kind. You’re the only guy I know that will save a guy from getting killed on his way home from killing someone!”
Kirihiko thought a long moment about the statement. He frowned as he looked away from his friend and out the window, contemplating his response. He finally sighed, “When I kill, I’m simply doing my job. Why I’m supposed to kill those people is beyond me, I don’t ask and I don’t want to know. They’re simply faceless dolls to me who more than likely did something to deserve their death. The boy I saved as helpless. He hadn’t done anything to earn the ire of his attackers other than being out late at night. Therefore, I felt obliged to step in.” The raven-haired man nodded as he looked back at Jun, “If that makes any sense at all.”
His tattoo-clad companion nodded slowly, “We all got to come up with ways to justify what we do, Kiri.”
--
Inari sighed as he shut his eyes and returned to his place on the couch, “Any reason for the bursting through the door, Chiyuu?” He asked as Klaus took his seat next to him.
Chiyuu quickly ran forward. He jumped onto the coffee table sitting in the middle of the room and placed his hands on his hips. From somewhere, a breeze blew through, tossing Chiyuu shoulder-length black hair that was splotched with various colors of the rainbows in the air. He smirked and turned to address Inari and Klaus.
“I was just…” Chiyuu started before striking a pose, “making an entrance!”
The room grew quiet as Klaus and Inari stared at the rainbow-haired boy, “Always with the dramatics, Chiyuu.” Inari stated as he rubbed his head.
“Mhm!” Chiyuu quickly jumped off the coffee table and ran over to hug Inari, “Old friend! I haven’t talked to you in days! What’ve you been doing?”
Inari reluctantly returned the hug, his face showing the disgust he held for the free-spirited boy. He wanted to strangle the untalented brat but instead simply laughed, “Oh, not a whole lot.” He said, putting on a fake smile, “Just hanging around here. I heard that you did the bubble gum shoot.”
Chiyuu pulled off of Inari and sat back with a sigh, “Yeah, yeah. It was oh so fun!” He said with sarcasm as he stuck his tongue out. Suddenly, his eyes lit up and he turned to Inari, “Oh! But the most amazing, shocking, crazy thing happened last night on my way home!”
“Oh, really? What ever could that be?” Inari said, hiding the sarcasm.
“Well, I’ll tell you the story. So, I was walking home from the shoot, okay? Well, I turned down this really creepy alleyway, you know like horror movie creepy but I wasn’t scared. After all, I can hold my own in a fight.” He said with confidence, nodding his head. “Well, anyways. Here come this group of big, scary guys and well, they attacked me!” Chiyuu grew a little more somber and swallowed, “They were gonna mug me and who knows what else. There were so many, there wasn’t much I could do… but, just when I was losing hope, something happened.”
Chiyuu stood with a sudden burst of energy, “As I was about to give in to the attackers, there he came! Like a knight in shining armor, my savior! He was tall and rugged and tough. Well, anyways. He beat up all my attackers and they ran away like little girls! Afterwards, I tried to thank him but he just acted all cool and was like-“ Chiyuu cleared his throat and lowered his voice to speak, “’I saw you needed help and I did, no thank yous needed.’ Isn’t that awesome?! Well, after that I just had to get a picture with him to remember so I did and here it is!”
With that, Chiyuu pulled the blown up Polaroid out of his pocket and handed it over. Klaus and Inari stared at the picture with odd looks, trying to make heads or tails of the odd tale Chiyuu had just relayed to him.
Klaus cleared his throat and spoke, “He doesn’t look very happy.”
“Or mad. Or sad. Or… anything.” Inari raised a brow at the raven-haired man in the picture, “I don’t think I’ve seen that little of emotion before.”
“It’s like he’s dead.” Klaus said, nodding in agreement.
“Or maybe he was annoyed by Chi-“
Quickly, Chiyuu ripped the picture out of Klaus and Inari’s hands and huffed. “Fine, if you don’t appreciate my story I’ll find someone who will.”
Just on time, the door to the lounge opened and in stepped a blonde haired beauty. She stood nice and tall, wearing a green dress with brilliant blue eyes and her matching blonde hair to match. She scanned the room over until her eyes finally landed on Chiyuu and she smiled wide, “Chiyuu-kun!”
“Hisano-chan!” Chiyuu shouted as he ran over to her, “I’ve got the most amazing story to tell you!”
And so he did. For the next hour and a half, Klaus and Inari had to sit in the lounge and listen as Chiyuu insisted on relaying his adventurous story to anyone that would listen. He even told it to the daytime janitor who was ambushed as he was just trying to change the trash bags!
Inari sat with arms crossed as he watched Chiyuu run across the room as Mr. Yamada, the manager for Silver Star Agency entered the room and he went on to tell his ‘exciting’ tale of his rescue by the dashing ‘mystery savior.’
Klaus cleared his throat, “I’ve never seen Echizen like this.” He stated, watching as Mr. Yamada nodded along to the story. It was impossible to tell if Yamada was even listening wearing those tinted sunglasses.
“I know, it’s infuriating. What makes him think anyone wants to hear about him and his ‘savior.’ Seriously?”
Klaus chuckled lightly, “You know Echizen, he tends to see the good in everyone. Hell, he still thinks you’re his best friend.”
Inari snorted, “Bah, he’s just an idiot.” The red-head leaned back, his emerald eyes staring at the carpet as a thought formed in his mind. He tapped his foot gently against the floor as a smirk slowly crossed his features, “Klaus.”
“Yeah?” The fit man asked as he turned to look at his friend.
“I’ve got an idea…”
The blonde narrowed his eyes, “What kind of idea?”
The smirked widened as the red-head snickered a bit, “A plan that will finally end Chiyuu Echizen’s reign of supremacy over me. A plan that is fool proof. A plan of absolute genius!”
With that, Inari leaped to his feet and traded his devilish smirk for an innocent smile, “Hey! Chiyuu! Can I barrow that picture real quick?”
Chiyuu turned around, his chestnut eyes confused, “Uh… w-why, Inari-kun?”
“Well, I’m making sort of a scrap book of friendship for us!” Inari lied and smiled as he watched Chiyuu’s eyes widen in happiness, “And I was thinking, since that picture is so important to you then why not include it, eh?”
The rainbow-haired boy quickly handed the picture over, “Oh, Inari-kun. You’re my best friend!”
“You know it.” Inari winked to Chiyuu as he turned around and handed the picture over to Klaus, the evil smirk once again planted on his face, “Klaus, do everything you can to find out who this guy is and how we can get a hold of him.”
Klaus looked at his friend a moment before finally nodded and taking the picture. He left, leaving Inari to smirk and snicker as his plan unfolded in his head. He excused himself from the lobby and stood in the privacy of the hallway, “Chiyuu Echizen, you’re time is done. The time of Inari Shinguji is fast approaching.” An evil laugh escaped through the lips of Inari as he made his way through the halls and outside.
Soon, everything would come together.
--
A few hours later, as the sun was beginning to set, Inari and his companion Klaus were once again together. Only this time, they were in a totally different place.
They walked through one of the worse off neighborhoods of Tokyo. Klaus stuck close to Inari, wary of anyone who would mess with the red-head. Inari wore a baseball cap and sunglasses. Even though he wasn’t as famous as Chiyuu, he still may be recognized. Not to mention, much like Chiyuu, Inari harbored the same feminine yet dashing good looks and some people may try to attack them like they did Chiyuu.
“Klaus, you’re sure your findings are correct?”
“One hundred percent sure. Have I ever failed you before, Inari?”
Inari smirked as they came upon an old, rundown building. Noise was evident from the outside, sounding more like a bar than a abandoned structure.
“So, who is the guy then?”
“A hired gun.” Klaus said, crossing his large arms over his chest. “A hit man, you could say. He does less innocent jobs for cash but his main asset is his killing ability. He’s a real cold, merciless guy, something I don’t want to get involved in.”
Inari snickered evilly to himself, “Klaus, this is perfect. He’ll be perfect. If you don’t want to come in then don’t. Either way, the plan is about to unfold.”
Klaus would never abandon Inari, especially at a place such as this. After taking a deep breath, the two entered the building. Inside, the place was defiantly a bar, filled with hoodlums and criminals. All eyes turned to the doorway as Klaus and Inari entered, all eyes looking the newcomers up and down.
A young lady approached them, “Business?”
Klaus stepped forward as Inari spoke, “Yes, we’re here to speak with a certain individual. A Mr. Kurokawa, if we may.”
The lady nodded, “Follow me.” She stated as she led the through the crowd of criminals. Klaus stuck close to Inari, keeping his eyes on the hoodlums and not allowing them to take a step near his friend. Finally, the lady led them to an area with a few chairs scattered around. She pointed to one where a raven-haired man was sitting, reading a newspaper casually. It was him, he was identical to the emotionless man in the picture. Inari smirked as he stepped forward.
They came upon the man and Inari spoke up, “Mr. Kurokawa.”
The raven-haired man was silent for a long moment. When he spoke, he didn’t even look up from his paper, “Got a job?”
Inari was taken aback by the man’s monotonous voice and blinked, “Y-Yes. A big one.”
Finally, the man put down the paper and motioned for them to sit. Inari did so but Klaus stood beside him as there was no chairs seated close enough to Inari for him.
“Who, how, when, and payment?” The raven-haired killer asked, staring at Inari with cold, demanding eyes.
The red-head blinked, “I… I’m not ordering a hit.”
Kurokawa raised a brow as he leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest, “Explain.”
Inari swallowed, “I understand last night, you came across a young man who was being attacked. A kid with mostly black hair but with other colors too.”
“I did.”
“Well, Kirihiko. Oh, may I call you Kirihiko.”
“I don’t care what you call me.”
Inari narrowed his eyes at the man but continued, “Well, that boy is actually a famous actor and has been called Japan’s next big thing by some. Basically, I’m the guy just… below him and have always been. I’m overlooked, even though I’m the more talented individual, he gets all th-“
“What’s my job?” Kirihiko stated firmly.
“Oh, yes, well…” Inari cleared his throat, “It seems to me like my rival, Chiyuu Echizen, is quite infatuated with you, Kirihiko. You see, I’ve never seen Chiyuu much involved with anyone. He’s had girlfriends but has never been attached, it just seemed to me like he was more wrapped up in his career than in dating.”
“Chiyuu, however, is a very fragile person. He grows attached easily and puts his all into things he cares for.” Inari chuckled lightly, “Hell, if he actually fell for someone and things ended badly, I’d expect Chiyuu may never recover from something like that.”
Kirihiko narrowed his eyes as he stared at Inari, “Get on with it.”
A smirk crossed the red-head’s devilish features, “Kirihiko-san, I want you to make Chiyuu Echizen fall in love with you. Then, when’s he’s at the pinnacle of his passion, break it off and break his heart. His career will follow quickly and then it’ll be my spot at the top.”
Everyone grew quiet as Kirihiko processed the information. He cleared his throat, “How do you know this Chiyuu Echizen would fall for me? I am, after all, a guy.”
“I don’t think gender means a whole lot to Chiyuu. Like I said, he’s never been attached to anyone romantically and this is the first I’ve ever seen of him having such an obsession. Believe me, if you play your cards right, Chiyuu will fall head over heels.”
Kirihiko scratched his head as he thought it over, “I’m a killer, gentlemen. Not a lover. I don’t think I can accept this job.”
Inari stared in shock at the raven-haired man as he said the statement so bluntly then prepared to leave. The red-head quickly shot forward and grabbed Kirihiko by the arm, “W-Wait! You haven’t even heard how much I’ll pay you! Money is the main thing here, right?”
The man stopped in his tracks and sighed, “How much?”
Without even speaking, Inari removed a small check from his pocket and handed it over to Kirihiko. The man skimmed it over and his eyes widened at the number he saw. Inari’s devilish smirk returned once more, “And you can expect another when Chiyuu’s heart is in pieces.”
Kirihiko stared at the check for a little while longer. Finally, the man sat down and pocketed the check, “Some rules, gentlemen. I will not pay for any dates or gifts. I will not sleep with this man, whether he is into men or not I know that I am not.” He crossed his arms, “And just so you know, I do not work for you. I am a free agent and you are my contractor, at any time I may end my contract. Remember that.”
The red-head smirked and snickered to himself, “Understood. How soon can you begin?”
With that, Kirihiko stood and cracked his knuckles, “I’ll start when the time is right. You may or you may not see me when I do but you’ll know. Until then, this has been a pleasure, gentlemen.”
Inari watched as Kirihiko left them then he finally started his laugh. His plan was coming together perfectly. This would be it. He would finally be at the top of the chain and Chiyuu would be at the bottom where he belonged.
He continued to laugh his evil bellow as Kirihiko left the building and headed for his apartment.
Tomorrow would be the beginning of his affair of deception.
Phew, Chapter Two is finished! A lot happened during this chapter but there wasn’t much character development for the two mains. However, an antagonist was introduced! He’s a bastard… I’m sorry but that’s just his nature.
Until next time!

To Be Continued…
Author’s NotesPhew, Chapter Two is finished! A lot happened during this chapter but there wasn’t much character development for the two mains. However, an antagonist was introduced! He’s a bastard… I’m sorry but that’s just his nature.
Until next time!
