Free Man
That was it! Shojiro couldn't take it anymore. If he was going to be a free man, he would have to do a bold deed. Shojiro decided to break up with Yori. But how? That girl didn't take no for an answer. She was also obsessed with him to a fault. Add manipulation on top of that and Shojiro had a battle on his hands. He tried to dump her many times in high school. Yori always tricked him into staying in the end. Now, the boy was sick of it! If he wanted a relationship with Kizo, he would have to dump his current baggage.
For help, Shojiro turned to Jim at lunch. His pal shrugged at him.
“What can I say?” he asked. “That broad owns your ass, dude!” Shojiro frowned at him.
“I don't want her to,” he said. “I want to break up with Yori so I can be with Kizo!” His buddy thought about that for a moment.
“Okay then,” he said. “I will help you out.” Shojiro became overjoyed.
“Really?” he asked. “Tell me what to do!” Jim leaned in close and told him the brilliant plan. His friend leaned in close.
“Invite Yori to dinner,” Jim began. “Make sure this place is super-romantic. Adds to irony of it all. Once everything is set, dump her hard. Ooo, even better: tell her why. Then, leave her with the bill.” Shojiro stared on at him.
“Will that really work?” he asked. Jim nodded.
“Sure!” he said. “Trust me!” His friend nodded a bit.
“It better,” he hissed. Jim nodded.
“Call her and set it up!” he said.
“Alright then,” Shojiro replied. He picked up his cell phone and dialed Yori. The phone rang on the other ling. The boys waited.
“Hello?” the girl answered on the other line.
“Yori-chan?” Shojiro asked. A high-pitched squeal followed after that question. Her soon-to-be ex had to hold his phone away from his ear. Jim winced in pain as well. Both almost forgot how loud she could be. Dumping her would do them all good.
“Baby!” she chirped. “What's up?” Shojiro swallowed hard as he looked at Jim. His friend nodded.
“Do it!” he mouthed. Shojiro nodded and turned back to the phone.
“Hey, Yori-chan,” he spoke again. “When was the last time we went on a date?” Yori really lit up at that question.
“Ooo!!!” she squealed. Shojiro held the phone away from his ear.
“Almost never!” the girl said. “Why? Are you asking me out?”
“Yeah,” Shojiro answered. “Tonight sound good?”
“Yay!” his soon-to-be ex cheered. “That sounds great!”
“Nice,” Shojiro replied. “How does seven sound?”
“Great!” she said. “I'll see you there.”
“Okay,” he said. They hung up. Shojiro breathed out some. He grinned and flashed the V sign at him. Jim grinned at him. Plan was now in motion.
Waiting made everything tense. Shojiro had really been plotting for their date all afternoon. The crushing blow had to be just perfect. Yori refused to take a hint. To heighten that effect, he needed to make a phone call. So, Shojiro pulled out his cell phone and dialed another familiar number. The other line rang. The freshman paced some.
“Hello?” a voice asked on the other line. Shojiro began overjoyed.
“Kizo-chan!” he exclaimed.
“Hey babe,” his girl said. “What's up?” Shojiro filled her in on the plan. The gasser went with it willingly.
“Think it will work?” she asked.
“We'll have to see,” her boyfriend said. “Come by at 7:15, okay?”
“Alright,” Kizo said.
“Buh-bye,” Shojiro replied.
“Bye,” his girl said back. Then, they hung up. Shojiro grinned to himself. The plan had been set into motion. Now to act.
Seven o'clock came. Shojiro waited at the new sushi bar that had just opened. He sat near the window watching the clock. “Any time now!” the freshman thought.
“Sweetie!” a high-pitched squeal sound in the air. Everyone looked up in pain. Dogs went deaf in a fifteen mile radius. Yori stood in the doorway smiling. Shojiro smirked at her. Show time! He flagged her over to the table. Yori hurried over to him. The boy stood up quickly.
“Baby!” his soon-to-ex cheered. “I missed you so much!” She hugged her boyfriend tightly. Shojiro nodded uncomfortably. It was now or never. He titled his head down to his date.
“Yori-chan,” he began. “I think we should break up.” The girl paused and looked up at him.
“What?” she asked. Shojiro nodded seriously.
“Yeah,” he said. Yori slowly took it all in. Her eyes began to well up with tears.
“W-Why?” she whimpered. Shojiro lightly pushed her off. His ex stood there staring at him. The boy swallowed hard as he pushed himself to keep going. No time to stop now! Got to strike when the iron is hot.
“I don't want to be with you anymore,” he said once more. “And besides, I'm seeing someone else.” Yori only heard the last part of what he said.
“Who?!?” she said, fighting back her tears. Shojiro opened his mouth to speak again.
“Hey Shojiro-kun!” someone yelled. The ex-couple looked up to see Kizo walking towards them. Shojiro smiled at her warmly.
“Kizo-chan!” he said happily. The boy embraced his new girlfriend sensually. Yori watched on in pain. She ran out in weeping sorrow. As Yori walked on, her sadness changed into anger. “That bitch stole my man!” she thought. Right away, the girl became plotting revenge. Yori vowed to get Shojiro back, no matter what!
