Chapter 1
Seiji was on the balcony observing Touma, who was training by himself at the far end of the garden. He looked at the target and noticed that no arrow hit the center. Bizarre, usually he never misses the center. He thought.
The archer prepared to send his next arrow. He concentrated and raised his bow. He remained motionless by fixing the target, but a few moments later, he lowered it and raised him hand to rub his eyes.
"Something wrong, Tou ?" Asked Seiji, who came to join him.
"Yes, there is. Why did you ask me that ?"
"Because you did not hit the middle of your target even once."
"My eyes are a little tired. I guess I read too much again."
Seiji took Touma's chin in his hand and stared his amethyst look in the archer's, who was feeling disturbed quickly.
"They are red."
"Wh-what ?" Stuttered Touma.
"You have the red eyes… Come with me."
"Why ?"
"I will put something on your eyes to relieve them." He answered by pulling on his arm.
Arriving in the manor, Seiji made his best friend sit on the couch and headed for the bathroom. He returned from there after a few minutes with a small wet bath towel.
"Stretch out."
Touma complied and the blond placed the towel down on his eyes.
"Stay like that for at least fifteen minutes." He ordered to him.
"Yes nurse !" He says while smiling. "Could you put on a little music ?"
"Okay." Seiji put on a CD and sat down in the armchair opposite Touma.
"Arrrrghhhh. No classical music !!! You want my death or what ? Please put in another CD." Begged the archer while sitting up.
Seiji got up and came up to Touma. He posed a hand on his chest to push him backwards and replaced the towel.
On his request, the blond changed music, then returned to the sofa. He rested and leaned above Touma by watching him with a pensive look. I would like to tell you all that I feel, but I am too afraid of destroying our friendship.
"Earth to Seiji! Do you hear me ?" Said Touma, who had raised a corner of the towel.
"…"
"What were you dreaming about ?"
"Ah…nothing." He answered while returning to sit down. "And put the damned towel back. How do you expect to heal, if you remove it every 2 minutes ?"
"Oh my god, Shin is that you ?" Laughed Touma.
"In that case, you will see a ophthalmologist."
"Why make me ? I just read too much, no big deal."
Seiji heaved a sigh and looked up to the sky. "Pig-headed."
***
In the middle of the night, Seiji awoke and switched on the light. He turned his head in direction of the bed of Touma and realized that it was empty. He's probably still up reading…
He went down to the living room without noise and found Touma, as he thought it, a book in hand.
"You can't help it."
"Caught red-handed." Said the archer by letting go of his book.
The blond sat beside Touma, who still rubbing his eyes. Seiji took hold of his hands.
"They are still red. Do me a favor and will see a ophthalmologist."
"If that will reassure you, I would do it." He answered. He had the sudden impression that his heart was going to leap out of his chest, by noticing that Seiji still held his hands to him. They are so soft.
"Well. I'm going back to bed. Are you coming ?" Asked Seiji.
"Go up already, I will drink glass of milk and I then go to bed." In fact, he was lying, he felt his legs tremble and was afraid he wouldn't be able to get up from the couch.
"All right." Seiji gave in and walked towards the staircase.
Fifteen minutes later, Touma went into the room. Seiji had already fallen asleep again and let out a slight snore.
Touma came up to him and stretched a hand to loose locks on his face, but then he changed his mind. He lay down on his bed quietly, his eyes on the ceiling that was lightly lit by the moon. If I only had the courage to tell him.

The following day, as his habit, Touma got up well after the others. He took a shower and went to the kitchen where Shin was, preparing their lunch.
"Hello sleeper."
"Hello Shin. There's still some coffee ?" Asked Touma while yawning.
"I am not sure, look in the coffeepot. Seiji came to make of it a cup it not long ago."
He took the coffeepot and noted that it was empty. "Too bad. I guess I'll take orange juice." After having poured a glass, he walked out to the garden.
"Hi Blondie. So you slept well ?"
"Hi. Yes, very well, I didn't even hear you come up to go to bed. You didn't continue to read, I hope ?" Asked Seiji by frowning.
Touma shook his head.
"How are your eyes today ?"
"Better, but could you look at them to see if they are red ?"
"Of course, come here." He placed his hands on the shoulders of the archer and after a few seconds of observation. "They are still a little. You should put a wet towel back over them. By the way, did you make an appointment ?"
"Not yet, but I will do it this afternoon. Promise."
***
In middle of afternoon, Touma was fixed in front of his target. But what I have done ? Ten arrows and not one in the middle.
He returned to the manor and did what he had promised to Seiji.
"Hello, Touma Hashiba, I would like to make an appointment… Tomorrow, very well. Thank you."
***
In the waiting room of the ophthalmologist, Touma sat crumpling a magazine. A man dressed in a white button-up walked into the room and called him. He took the archer in another room, which possessed various machines.
"Mr. Hashiba, explain to me what your problem is." Requested the doctor.
"I have irritated eyes and I also have the sight which becomes blurred at times."
"When did this start ?"
"I really don't know. I would say that made about 2 months that my eyes have been easily becoming red and about a week for my dim vision. I think that this stems also from the fact that I read too much."
The consultation lasted almost an hour. At the time of the results, the doctor had a grave look.
"What ? I-I will go blind…"
