Hour of Destiny
Contact: glorfinny@yahoo.com
Author: Stars and Auras
Rating, Samurai Fanservice: R
Pairings: Touma/Seiji
Warnings: SHOUNEN AI, possible expansion into YAOI. (Mumbles) I’ve been in the LotR fandom too long, almost forgot that warning... Oh, and later Mpreg.
Summary: In the Sengoku Jidai (Warring States Era), five children are born with mystical powers. One day, they are sent out to capture a demon. What happened next they could scarcely imagine. (Summary subject to change)
Notes: This is an AU. An Alternate Universe. An Altiverse, whatever you call them. What you know about Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers or the history of Japan may or may not apply here.
And since I promised them, I also want to credit Mirror and Image. The research they did on all things RW/YST was very helpful in my own research. I also thank them for assuring me I was not going overboard in my research.
I also want to thank the members of the Samurai Fanservice forum.
Book One of the Weathered Tome series.
Betas: As always, no matter what fandom I’m in, I’m followed loyally by my dearest fiancé, baiyu_dan. Sure, he doesn’t remember Seiji very well, but at least he remembers Touma, and that’s all that matters. ^_- Ai shiteru, aino-chan.
And a new fellow, turbomagnus, who helps me keep my Sentai rules straight and helps me get rid of bad ideas so good ones will surface. And annoys the life outta me with really lame jokes. No, J.T., Seiji is not a girl. Baka...
Disclaimer: The only YST stuff I own is the first six volumes of the DVDs. Nothing more, nothing less. And I won’t give those up without a fight. Who does own them? Sunrise, Bandai, and someone else I can’t remember at the moment.
Feedback: Controls the population of my plot bunnies and makes me smile. ^_^ See?

Prologue:
The Story
“Behold, from the houses of five great Samurai shall come sons of destiny. Each man-child shall be blessed with mastery of Onmyodo at birth and control one of the five sacred elements.
“Find ye these children: One with the justice of stone, one with the faithfulness of water, one with the virtue of fire, one with the wisdom of the winds, and one with the courtesy of light. Gather these five, who shall become the Maho-Bushi of Sadamerarete-Iru Bushi no Kiso.
“Korin. Tenku. Rekka. Suiko. Kongo.”
~~~~~ From the Prophesy of the Destined Warriors of the Elements, the author lost to Time.
I was born in a time of turmoil and strife. The Sengoku Jidai, I heard some call it. Aye, it was a time of war between the states. A daimyo could begin a war at any slight, real or imagined. Samurai were permitted to kill anyone who did not bow fast enough.
As a young man, only of ten and three summers, this humble chronicler was sent to the only han to remain neutral during this ceaseless war. The Kaosu house it was, and older than Time herself she was as she stood upon this island. None, not even the family itself, knew when it had been established. Kaosu house had always been. The Kaosus were in touch with the realm of spirits. Some unflattering folk spoke of the family as being Demon Touched at the best and demons proper at the worst.
Kaosu Taichi was the head of the family when this humble chronicler began his duties. Of twenty winters he was, his honored father having retired. He was a kind man, this unworthy one remembers. A rarity in a time such as this, this Sengoku Jidai. Ten and five summers this unworthy one was when his honored son, Kaosu Yamatto, was born. He would become like his honored father, a kind, gentle man.
During that same summer, this humble chronicler discovered a prophesy. As ancient as the Kaosu house itself, it foretold the birth of five children. These five children would have the abilities of that practice that had fallen out of favor as the imperial court had. Onmyodo, it was called. This practice, which had required much training to master, would be born with these children as they themselves would be born.
They would be called the Maho-Bushi no Sadamerarete-Iru Bushi no Kiso. Warrior-Mages of the Destined Warriors of the Elements. Korin, Tenku, Rekka, Suiko, and Kongo. Nimbus, Firmament, Wildfire, Torrent, and Stone. Each of the five would control -- if such a word could be applied -- one of the Sacred Five. Did the order of the titles, for that is what it seemed they were, describe their birth order? Or did it describe the order in which they would be revealed as what they were? Nothing is meaningless in a prophesy, and only a great fool would think otherwise.
The virtues that described each child, then, also meant something, this your humble chronicler was certain of. They were virtues of the prophet Confucius, this your humble chronicler was also certain of. Did they describe how each child would behave, or did they describe how the power itself would behave? The order here was different from the order of the titles. Stone was first, light last. Was this the birth order? Or was this the order of revelation? Was this in reverse of birth order? Or was this in reverse of order of revelation? Did it speak to a hierarchy in the group? Your humble chronicler did not know.
However, he was soon to find out.
~~~~~ From the record books of Himura Badamon, head scribe of the Kaosu house under Kaosu Taichi and Kaosu Yamatto.
