Pitch Black
Chapter One: Pyramid Puzzle
By: Demon Priestess Saturn
Author Notes: Yes I'm back with a new story. I must admit it has been a long time since I wrote a Ronin Warriors fanfic. Yes I know all of you may have read In the Shadow Of War but the truth is that it was written two years ago. So now here I am with yet another story. This Ronin Warriors story takes place right after the Message OVA. I don't own Ronin Warriors, well no da! I own Esra, Lady Eliza and Tina-Marie that's about it.
WARNING!!! This story is a blend of both English Dub and Japanese Sub. Why? Because I like the Kanji's better in the sub but I would like to keep this a dub-oriented story for reasons to be revealed later in the story. Okay with that said I think I've yakked enough so on with the story!
A man ran swiftly down the long hallway followed by two other boys. The boy in front had his lavender eyes fixed on the door at the end of the hall. Occasionally he would glance to the walls, which had strange depictions of a civilization the young man was not familiar with. These pictures were strange often making him wonder if this was an oral history of some sort. They showed people of light colored hair and eyes. Most of these people were blondes, blue, pink, medium red or lavender haired people with blue or lavender colored eyes. They were in a circle and seemed to be yelling and throwing stones at a person in the middle of the circle. The person in the middle of the circle was very different from the people circling him. The man was on the ground with his hands tied behind his back and was the only man with black hair and green eyes. He was covered in blood and obviously screaming out in pain. There were even more pictures on the walls that looked like this. Some of the pictures were more morbid than others but always had the same thing; light haired people killing the only dark haired person there. Occasionally you could see a light haired person being killed. But that was usually when they were protecting the dark haired person or they had obviously broken the ground set rules of the culture. There was even pictures of some of light haired woman in general suits killing someone else.
Another strange aspect about the pictures were what the people were wearing. The men wore mostly belly shirts and eye shadow. They were all pretty boys with an occasional few who just looked like men in drag. The women were all tomboys accept with a few who seemed to be rebels dressing in the `men's' clothes. These people seemed to be the freaks they all had the same hair colors as the rest of the people but with one difference. They were all darker versions of the colors. Like dark blue and purple but they were not being killed in any of the pictures. All the people did was look at them strangely and seemed to be walking away from them to join the people who looked exactly like they did.
“I wonder what these pictures mean.” A dark blue haired man with matching blues eyes said from the back. He was the tallest of the group and also was the smartest.
“Well we don't have time to think about it.” The blonde replied while looking over his shoulder at the blue haired man with his lavender eyes.
“Rowen are you sure this is were she brought Kento and Ryo?” An auburn haired boy asked the boy with dark blue hair. All three of the boys wore a similar looking white armor with their respective colors and gold trim. Rowen's armor was the dark blue armor, which was easily identified by the symbol on his helmet. The blonde wore a green armor with a gold lightning bolt design on his helmet. This pretty boy blonde's name was Sage and was probably the most courteous of the group. Though both Sage and Rowen at times have proved to be the wisest out of their group. Then there was sweet adorable Cye with his light blue armor. Cye was by far the bravest in the group but he had a tendency to play follow the leader which often got him in trouble. However this time it was different, Cye was following both Sage and Rowen's lead which meant they were less likely to get in trouble.
Ryo and Kento were the other two boys in the group. Ryo was the unofficial leader, which Sage would often argue, is not fit to be leader under certain circumstances. Which was pretty much almost all the time when in came to battling bad guys. Ryo was never one to think before leaping, which was a very serious problem. The one who was worse than Ryo was Kento. Kento had a habit of doing the same things Ryo did but with one major difference; you couldn't reason with Kento. Ryo was at least somewhat open to the possibility that whatever he was doing was a stupid idea. Kento however didn't care what you said it was his way or the highway. Or of course there was the other option of getting his fist in your face.
But now they had a serious problem. A woman had shown up and was demanding them to hand over their armors. Both Ryo and Kento had been caught and the remaining three ronins had to find a way to get into this dimension, which she was currently hiding in. That was how it started. Now the boys had made it into the dimension and were running around in a large golden pyramid. Sage glanced from wall to wall. The more morbid pictures he saw the worse he felt about being there. What if they had walked into a trap? Was this really the place where Kento and Ryo were being held prisoner? Sage glanced at Rowen waiting for his reply to Cye's question. Rowen glanced into Sage's worried looking lavender eyes and smiled reassuringly.
“I'm positive. In fact I am 100% sure this is where they are.” Rowen said calmly. Sage stared for a moment at Rowen then looked back to see the set of large cherry wood doors. The three boys stopped in front of the large doors and then looked at one another.
“This woman is strange.” Sage said calmly.
“Wooden doors in a pyramid. I guess that is strange.” Cye replied. “Do you think this could be a trap?”
“I don't know.” Rowen said while glancing at Sage. “I think this is your department.” Rowen said to Sage. Sage nodded and walked up to the double doors. As Sage ran his hands down the golden spiral designs he carefully put his ear to the door. Sage listened closely to see if there was anything audible behind the large doors. After a few minutes he heard some slight murmurs and a strangely familiar yelling from the other side. Sage pushed away from the door slowly and looked at Rowen with a sincere nod. Rowen nodded back and grabbed the handle to the door on the left. Sage grabbed the same handle but on the right door. The two boys pulled open the double doors and found themselves staring into a large round room.
In the center of the room with her back turned stood the woman in question. Her long pink hair had been pulled back into a tight braid. On her back were two pink angelic wings, which connected to her armor shoulder pads. As she turned slowly to face the three boys her long black dress swayed elegantly in the slight wind. She wore a red belt around her waist, which connected at the center but hung down about as long as her black dress. On her arms were a pair of long black gloves which matched the long black boots she wore on her feet. The other unique thing about her was the red face paint she had on her cheeks, forehead, and just below her black neck choker. They were rectangular designs with a few circles here and there. She wore a golden headpiece on her head, which match perfectly with her gold jewelry and golden shoulder pads. In her right hand she held a golden staff with a large red orb on the top. She stared back at her three visitors with her cold angry red eyes. Sage, Rowen, and Cye knew this woman a little to well. She was the one they called Tina-Marie. They knew her to be a cold-hearted woman and was after one thing, their new armors. Tina-Marie smirked as she started to walk up to the remaining three Ronins.
“You boys are late… I was starting to think that you had abandoned your friends.” Tina-Marie said in her calm cold voice.
“You only wish lady.” Sage snapped.
“Ha ha humm… Actually Sage I was counting on you three to come save your friends. After all they are important to you.” Tine-Marie said with a sinister smile coming a crossed her face. The double doors behind the three ronins slammed shut causing all three boys to look behind them.
“What are you trying to do? Scare us? Well it's not working.” Sage looked back at Tina-Marie with a venomous glare.
“Where are Ryo and Kento?” Rowen also turned back to face her.
“Yes your friends… Haven't you noticed?” Tina-Marie stepped to the side and gestured to the wall behind her.
“What's that?” Cye said as he noticed something on the wall. Sage stepped forward and stared closely at the wall. There were two large symbols on the wall. One of the symbols was a set of four diamonds, which were set in such a way that they made one large diamond. Right below it was another symbol it was the symbol of righteousness. And just below that was a black haired boy.
“Ryo…” Sage's eyes widened.
“What… What's with the symbols?” Rowen looked at Sage with an equally shocked face.
“Look!” Cye pointed a little ways down to another part of the wall. On that wall was another set of symbols. This one was very different from the one Sage had noticed. It seemed to be a symbol of a helmet and just below it was the kanji symbol of justice. Also like Ryo just below the two symbols was Kento. Both the boys appeared to be knocked out. They were also missing their helmets so you could see Kento's ash blue hair.
“Kento!” Rowen said with a glare.
“Yes, but they aren't the only ones who will be on the walls. Look around boys. You will also find that your symbols are also on the walls.” Tina-Marie said calmly. Sage glanced around the room and spotted the familiar symbol of an arrow with the symbol of wisdom below it. Then as Sage glanced throughout the rest of the room he found the lightning bolt symbol with the kanji of grace below it. There was also the ying yang symbol with the kanji trust below it. All the ronins symbols were on the walls of this pyramid… But how?
“How is this possible?” Sage said to himself. “We aren't from this dimension.”
“There is a legend passed down for generations in my family. A legend that has been forgotten among my people… It is said that when the powers of the Sura become too great. The people of this land would forget their purpose. They would grow in power until they destroy everything, creating evils far greater than the world has ever seen. When this happens a god would appear and take the power of five saviors from another world. With that power the god would bring fourth five protectors to salvage it's lost world.” Tina-Marie said calmly.
“So you intend to be this god?” Sage stared into Tina-Marie's cold blood red eyes.
“No… I intend to bring upon the destruction of this world because I know there is no saving it. I wish to cast judgment on these people for their collective sins. Of course this will come at the disposal of your lives. But you are of no need to your planet anymore. They are already killing themselves. They shall pay for their sins as well. I'm just speeding the process for both the worlds sake.” Tina-Marie sneered.
“You're psychotic.” Rowen snapped.
“Am I?” Tina-Marie stared back at the ronin of strata. “Perhaps you should take a different point of view. Like how about asking yourself are your people really worth saving?”
“Of course they are. Why else would we be here?” Cye glared at Tina-Marie.
“I believe some are and some aren't.” Sage said calmly. “Yes there are those bad apples but that's not true for all people. I think my friends are part of the ones worth saving and they're in danger right now.”
“I agree with Sage. Yeah the worlds an evil place but that doesn't mean all people are bad.” Rowen agreed with Sage.
“Enough of your righteous crap. You don't seem to realize that all people are evil. It's embedded in their roots. It comes out whenever it's seems necessary.” Tina-Marie glared.
“Whoever said we were disagreeing with you? Yeah people suck but that does give you the right to condemn them to death.” Sage replied.
“That's only your opinion.” Tina-Marie said calmly. “But what's the use arguing with you three. You could never understand. Your minds are too simple to understand the complexity of it all. I guess I will just have to finish what I started.”
“Over our dead bodies!” Cye yelled as he positioned his spear in front of him.
“That can be arranged.” Tina-Marie smiled and raised her hand into the air. A slight rumbling sound could be heard as the room started to shake. The three boys gasped and looked around to make sure nothing was falling. Sage looked back at Tina-Marie and glared.
“We have to stop whatever the hell she's doing!” Rowen yelled while pulling an arrow from his quiver. Rowen set the arrow on the bow and aimed it directly at Tina-Marie. Tina-Marie slowly lowered her hand and watched Rowen closely. Rowen stared back into her red eyes. As Rowen was about to let his arrow fly sight began to blur.
“Rowen what are you waiting for?” Sage looked over at Rowen.
“Rowen?” Cye said as he stepped up next to Sage. “Sage something's wrong…”
“It smiles like roses…” Sage said calmly before he fell to the floor.
“Sage!” Cye yelled. “You…” Cye turned back to Tina-Marie. She stared back into Cye's sea green eyes and smiled sadistically. Rowen's bow hit the floor along with his arrow. When Cye looked over to Rowen, he had also passed out and was lying on the floor.
“I see…” Cye said calmly putting down the facemask on his helmet. “That trick wont work on me.”
“No I see it wont…” Tina-Marie said with a sigh. Tina-Marie looked at the ground. Cye flinched; he knew this would be his only chance. He jumped forward with his spear in front of him. Tina-Marie looked back at the warrior of torrent as he came at her. She did not flinch nor did she try to dodge the attack instead she let Cye stab her in the stomach with his spear.
“What?” Cye said in shock as he hit Tina-Marie. Cye looked into her eyes and watched a twisted smile play upon her face.
“Cye…” Tina-Marie shook her head and then she simply disappeared.
“Where did she go?” Cye said to himself as he looked around. Cye glanced around the room and began to panic a little. Where had she gone? That's when Cye felt it. He felt Tina-Marie's ice-cold hands play around his thin neck. It felt like a dozen spiders crawling up and down his spine. Cye froze as she moved her hands through his auburn hair. Was she going to kill him? A thought rushed through Cye's head and he forced himself to pull away from her. As Cye went to pull away Tina-Marie grabbed his arm making the warrior of torrent turn to face her. Cye soon found himself staring deep into her eyes and for some reason Cye couldn't stop shaking. He was afraid of her.
“Seeing how my other trick failed to knock you out. I think it is only fair to try something else.” Tina-Marie said in her cold unmerciful voice. She pulled Cye closer to her and locked her soft lips on to his. Cye was shocked for a moment and for some reason couldn't resist her. Cye kissed her back and his body went limp. Cye's mind went blank and he felt relaxed. Tina-Marie pulled away slowly to inspect her work. Cye opened his eyes and looked back at her. His vision began to blur and then next minute everything went black.
