It had taken several hours for Yukito and the other healers to bathe, bandage the young ex-Masho’s wounds and get him stable enough to be moved. Sendril now sat watching his bandaged chest rise and fall. She was thankful that he’d had only awoken for a brief moment over an hour ago. His breathing sounded a bit rough, but considering the damage done to his body it was the least of the things she would be worrying about.
Yukito’s insistence on blood tests and the like being preformed at the mortal hospital in which he regularly worked as a human doctor, insured there would be few if any complications. Her fingers continued to rub the back of his hand where the I.V. Needle was embedded dripping blood and other fluids into him. The feeding tube had been secured, though it would have to be watched so it wasn’t dislodged while he was in the throws of a nightmare.
She knew he’d eventually wake up screaming, most of those she used the stones on did. Most did not survive the nightmares, those that did ended up learning that hell was of their own making. His eyes opened and his head turned to her. She lay her hand over his, studying the half lidded blue eyes.
“Rest...” She whispered. “just sleep...”
She watched his eyes close as he sank back into unconsciousness. He surprised her, but it had only been a few hours since he’d been pulled back from death. His fogged brain would probably think her some sort of Angel.
