Chapter Five
Everyone did their part getting everything ready for Mia's intimate surprise party; in the meantime Rowen came home.
"Yo, Rowen! Nice of you to grace us with your presence," Kento said, poking fun at him as he came in the door half an hour before Mia was due home.
"Shut the hell up, dude, and help get my stuff inside before Mia gets home," Rowen chided him.
"Hey, Rowen, how'd Olympic training camp go this weekend, man?" Ryo asked on his way out of the kitchen, chewing a morsel of food Cye asked him to try.
"Great, thanks, it just ran a little later than I hoped today," Rowen answered, out of breath with hurrying on his way up to his room. "Yo, when's Mia due home, Ryo?"
"About seven, why?" Ryo told him, wondering what he was worried about as Erica came up hugging him from behind.
"I still have to wrap her gift," Rowen stopped at the top of the stairs to tell him.
"I'll help ya. I'd like to see what ya got her anyway," Erica chimed in.
"No thanks, doll, I'd like to do it; I appreciate it, though," he finished cheerfully on his way down the hall.
"That must be some gift," Ryo stated, "I wonder what it is?"
"Maybe it's a sex toy," Erica joshed while tickling him.
"ERICA, what the hell's gotten into you?" Ryo returned in surprise.
"You, of course..." she giggled.
"I guess I've created a monster, huh," Ryo renounced, pulling her close and giving her a peck on the lips.
"More like a sex kitten," she said seductively while pulling his head down to French kiss him and making him bend over as she bent backwards.
"Mmmm..." Ryo moaned, almost forgetting where he was.
"Ah, man, get a room, you two, or just give it a rest," Kento reminded him, joking as he came into the room on his way up to Rowen's room with the last of his bags.
"Ya know, I don't know who's worse, you or Sage, I swear," Ryo chuckled, shaking his head at him and still holding Erica in the position she put them in.
"I've learned from the best, dude," Kento insinuated that Sage had been victor in that arena.
"Yo, man, Kento, get the lead out and be careful with that green duffel. It has Mia's gift in it," Rowen urged from the balcony.
"What the hell is in it, a cookie shaped like a gold medal or somethin'?" Kento asked, taking a potshot at him, going up where he was standing.
"Hahhaha... dah, oh man, that was just so funny, I should throw you off this balcony for being such a spaz," Rowen pretended to laugh at first, then rolled his eyes at how stupid Kento's jab about his Olympic dream was. Then he pushed him in the direction of his room, taking the bag in question out of his hand. "Let's go, ya numbskull! I ain't got all day to wrap that gold-medal-shaped cookie," he goaded teasingly while changing his voice to emphasize the last part of his sentence.
Ryo and Erica stood there laughing at the two.
"Yeah, okay, that was a bad one, I admit, but I'm on E; I hope Mia gets home soon, the smell in the kitchen is driving me nuts," Kento went on about the bad pun as he went with Rowen down the hall jabbering away. "So, what'd you get her anyway?"
"None of your damn business," Rowen retorted. Then Kento put the bags down on his bed and Rowen shooed him from the room.
"Well, excuse me all to hell," Kento mused as Rowen shut the door.
"NO EXCUSE FOR YA," Rowen yelled back teasingly, then went to the task of wrapping his perfect gift for Mia.

Finally Mia came home, went into the house, and was totally startled as everyone yelled, "SURPRISE!!"
"OH MY GOD, you guys didn't have to do this! THANK YOU!" Mia expressed her gratitude as they all went over to wish her happy birthday.
Then Kento interrupted the chatter, "OKAY, OKAY, CAN WE EAT NOW? I AM DYIN' OVER HERE."
"Yeah, come on, let's eat; Cye and Tessa made your fav, Mia," Rowen said, showing her into the dining room.
They all sat laughing and talking about their weekends when it came time for cake. Tessa brought it out while everyone sung 'Happy Birthday'. "Now you have to make a wish," Tessa said while setting it, candles burning, down in front of her.
"Yeah, Mia, make a wish," they all chimed together.
"All right, all right," she giggled at their enthusiasm. She glanced at Rowen and thought, I wish you were mine, then being brought back down to earth by Kento's voice.
"Hurry up, Mia, make a wish."
"Yeah, it's been five minutes since Kento ate, he might die of starvation," Rowen joked as everyone laughed.
"Hey, bite me, Rowen," Kento shot back. Meanwhile, Mia took one last look at Rowen's laughing face and blew out the candles, hoping her wish came true.
Everyone ate cake and watched while Mia opened her gifts. Everything she got was some sort of stationary, stickers, or pen with HELLO KITTY'S cute little face smiling up at her, except Kento and Brittany, who got her a DVD of her favorite movie The Matrix. "Oh, you guys are the best friends a girl could have. I love all your presents. Thank you all so very much," she said, flabbergasted at the care everyone seemed to take in getting her gifts; it totally overjoyed her.
"But Mia, here, you forgot mine." Rowen sounded concerned, but smiled as he dug her gift out from under all the wrapping paper on the table. He went over to where she was seated, knelt down beside her, and handed it to her with a sparkle on his eye.
"Oh, Rowen, I am sorry, thank you," she renounced as she took the gift, opened it, and revealed its contents to everyone. It was a porcelain geisha HELLO KITTY doll.
"I hope you like it." Rowen's soft tone almost brought her to tears. It took her breath away that he remembered how she admired it while he was out shopping with her a few months ago.
"Oh, Rowen, it's beautiful... I love it, thank you," she managed to get out, and before she knew it she kissed him full on the mouth.
"You're... quite... welcome," he stuttered out, trying to get over how great her soft lips felt.
Sage nudged Ryo with his elbow as they witnessed Mia and Rowen's exchange as everyone else admired the pretty little doll. "Huh? OH - hey, everyone, let's watch the movie," Ryo said to break the tension between the pair.
"Good idea. I'll get the beer and popcorn," Kento merrily chimed in.
"Jesus, Kento, you can put it away," Sage joked while everyone laughed.
Kento bounded his way into the kitchen, yelling, "Yeah, ain't it great," while not letting Sage get his goat like Rowen had earlier.
