Ronin Warriors Fan Fiction ❯ Secrets and Lies ❯ SL - Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )
A/N: Oooh, another story! This is one me and Kathrine started a LONG while ago. Man this was one of our first YAOI stories ever!
Kathrine: Yeah, we just have to write it on the computer now. Shouldn't take long.
JC: That's what we said about the last one.
Kathrine: So we're still not done, that doesn't mean anything.
JC: Yeah, right.
Kathrine: Hope yall like this one. One problem though, ya won't really be seeing the other Troopers. They don't make much of an appearance in this, if at all. Hope that's not a problem.
JC: Definite Masho appearance though.
Kathrine: Now that that's out of the way, on to the fic!
Disclaimer: WE DON'T OWN THE TROOPERS?! WHUAAAAAAAA!!!! *_!
Warning: Will include: YAOI/Shounen Ai, Angst, Alcohol and Drunks, Possibility of other drugs, Implied attempted Rape, NCS in later chapters.
Wish to thank Wildefyre and Hiruma. Their fics gave me this idea.

Chapter 1
He sat in the dreary park in the middle of the night. The blonde was tired and, in his own mind, defeated. The lines under his pale violet eyes had been permanent for quite a few years and betrayed the pain he wanted to keep hidden. No longer did his eyes shine with life and his inner light. That was all but gone.
It had been five years since he'd last seen his friends…or any others from his past for that matter. His grandfather had tried to marry his off, as was intended, but the blonde couldn't live a lie any longer. He had learned to live for himself instead of just for others and not wait for what had been chosen for him. That's when he finally decided to let down the bomb he'd been hiding for so long…
" You can't marry me to a woman I know I'll never love," Seiji frowned at his grandfather, standing his ground for once.
" I have all ready made the arrangements," Grandfather Date remained calm, yet his anger was apparent in his eyes. " The decision is final."
" But it wouldn't be fair to her to know that I could never loved her like she deserved," Seiji reasoned. " I couldn't do that to Melei."
" How is it that you are so sure that you could never love her?" the elderly man questioned with a suspicious glare. " You've known her since you were a child and love can come from friendship. Have you found another girl you love, is that why?"
" No," the blonde shook his head quickly. " But I know I never could love her, believe me."
" Give me one good reason why you are dishonoring the family and our traditions," his grandfather seemed quite livid at his heir's defiance.
" It's personal," Seiji's eyes lowered and became defensive. He could feel the anger and irritation at his grandfather for not understanding his wishes. He wanted to tell him the truth, to just get everything out in the open, but he knew that it would be the worst thing he could do.
" What is so personal that you can't tell your grandfather?" Elder Date demanded in a low growl. " What is so personal that it must remain a secret and yet you stand here going against everything your family has taught you. Have you married some girl already? Did you get her pregnant and marry her in secret? What is it?!"
" I-" he couldn't go on and merely turned his head.
" You're what?!" his grandfather grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him, forcing him to meet his dark brown eyes. " What?!"
" I'M GAY DAMMIT!!!" he blurted as he broke his grandfather's hold and moved away from him. As soon as he'd spoken those words, Seiji instantly regretted it, but knew it was too late to take them back. The truth was out and he knew there would be hell to pay.
" You're what?" the older date stared at him with disbelief in his old eyes. The unusual emotion was immediately replaced with a glare of shame and disgrace.
" Yes Grandfather, I'm gay," Seiji knew it was time to tell him everything. Nothing worse could happen than what he was expecting. " I know that I cannot love Melei because my preferences do not lay with women." That's when he felt the pain of a hard hand against his face. It came at him with so much force that he was thrown into the nearest wall.
" Get out," his grandfather ordered in a low hateful voice. " I want you out of this house and away from this family. What you are is unnatural and against everything I have taught you. I will not have you disgrace staining our good name."
" But Gran-" he stopped his plea. He knew it was futile and said nothing more as he quietly stood. Nodding slowly, he backed away from his lifetime mentor and sensei, walking up the stairs to his room.
He began to collect his belongings, putting the few items he held dear in a duffel bag and his clothes in a suitcase. His pain was unreadable on his stone features. He wouldn't show weakness when he was already a disgrace. He would leave with his head still high and his dignity intact.
" You're not leaving!" a voice cried from his open doorway.
He turned to see his younger sister staring at his with familiar pale violet eyes, tears already streaking his cheeks. " Hai, I am Suki," he nodded in confirmation. " Grandfather has deemed me a disgrace and unfit to be the heir of this family. He wants me to leave and I shall go willingly. It's for the best you know."
" B-but Momma hasn't come home yet and Poppa is working late," She protested as she stepped into the room. " What will I tell them?"
" Tell them the truth, if you don't Grandfather will," he told her. " I just wish they would hear it from someone who has not already past judgment upon me." He closed his suitcase and turned around, saddened by the tears and pain he saw on his younger sister's face. He wiped away the tears that were flowing freely down her cheeks and smiled gently at her.
" At least you accepted me as I am, as I accept you as well," he sighed. " Don't worry, I will see you again."
Satsuki frowned and wrapped her arms around the blonde's waist as she cried silently. " But what will I do while you're gone?" she asked brokenly. " With Yayoi is married, I don't see her much. I'll be here all alone."
" It's all right, you'll be fine," he assured her as he stroked her ebony black hair. " You are strong, you don't need me. You also have friends, I'm sure they'll keep you occupied."
" But-" she sniffed.
" No 'but's," he told her, lifting her chin so that he could stare her straight in the eyes. Only she would see that there were tears ready to fall from identical violet eyes. " I have to leave," he tried to smile, " but I will come to see you, or something, as soon as I am settled in somewhere."
" You promise?" she asked, her gaze still begging him to stay.
" Promise," he assured her once more, before giving her a small kiss on the cheek. Then he pulled away to pick up his suitcase, not seeing the shock on his sibling's face. Seiji had never been one for expressing his feelings, let alone kissing her so affectionately. He lifted his duffel bag to his other shoulder and turned back to her.
" Sayonara," he murmured before walking around her and out the door. Satsuki swore she saw tears falling down his cheeks.
Seiji walked out of the house, not even glancing to see if his grandfather was around. He put all his things into his car and then climbed in himself. As he started his car and pulled away, he never heard the broken cries of his sister, collapsed on the bed in what was his room only minutes before.
Five years and he'd done nothing more than write to her a small letter, telling her he'd found an apartment and had moved in. He never went to visit her. 'When I got settled' I promised, he remembered. In a way he'd still kept his promise with the letter and the fact that he hadn't actually 'settled' into his new life and home. He had spent days in a motel, before selling his car and finding the small one bedroom apartment, which he now resided in.
After that he was able to use the last of his money to buy groceries and a half-decent job as a veterinary assistant. Then he was forced to find another job, because he no longer had the money to go to college. It would have been easy to find a job as a teacher in a dojo somewhere, but he wouldn't use the skills his grandfather had taught him for anyone else. It would only deepen his disgrace.
He'd found a job working nightly at a bar that was fairly close to his apartment, allowing him to walk there easily. His life was different than it had been, losing contact with everyone he'd once knew or cared about. He'd never go to his friends, never having told them of his preferences ever and not knowing how they would react. He didn't even live near them. He felt that would only spread his shame to them as well.
He worked hard though, in his new life, making sure that every bill was paid on time, even if that meant he would hold back on buying food for a few days if need be. He refused to go into debt. He also knew he was paying for his decision greatly.
No longer was he the lithe, agile, yet strong, calm warrior of his youth. His sunlight locks were dull from the environments he lived in, though the few strands still fell over his right eye. His skin was pale from lack of sun and he'd lost weight considerably, his slender framed looking more frail and porcelain-like than ever before. Life wasn't worth much to him anymore and yet, he wouldn't go as far as to end it all.
" Heys theress!" a ragged voice yelled to him. Seiji could smell the alcohol from where he sat and looked up to see a haggard-looking man staring at him with half-glazed eyes from a few feet away. His dark hair was jaggedly cut above his ears and he was in a need of a shave badly.
" Go away, please," he asked as he stood up, ready to leave the situation. He felt someone grab his arm tightly. He was spun around to face the dark eyes of the man, his harsh alcohol-soaked breath hitting him in the face with the force of a brick.
" What's a matta?" the drunk slurred, giving him a toothy grin and a leer in his eyes. " I wazun doin' nothin' wrong. Jus wanna talk."
The smell of his breath and his steel-like grip reminded Seiji of one of the main things about being alone in a deserted park. There was always the drunk ready to make trouble and take advantage of you.
" Let go of my arm," the blonde remained calm and yet angry. Couldn't anyone leave him alone? Why couldn't he be left in peace?
" Whaz ya gonna dooz 'bout itz?" the man asked with confidence. " A littlez bag and bonez like youz?" For emphasis, he squeezed the blonde's arm and twisted it. It didn't hurt as much as the larger man believed, but Seiji knew he was right. In his younger years, the offender would have been on the ground within moments of trying to touch him. Only he wasn't as strong as he was then, malnutrition and lack of exercise making him not even a challenge for the older man.
" Oh c'monz," the other tried to purr but it came out as a throaty choking noise. " I'll makiz good forz ya."
" Let go of me!" Seiji knew he was in trouble and had to do something to get away from this man. " Just leave me the hell alone!" The man just grinned stupidly and tightened his grip on the blonde's forearm. He wasn't prepared for the reflexive right hook that the blonde released out of no where.
He was thrown off by the punch, but still didn't relinquish his hold on the younger man's arm. " You little whore!" the drunk growled. Seiji didn't see the bottle until it was too late. His vision exploded in a flash of red and white before darkness swept in and overtook him.

The night was cool and refreshing as Anubis walked beneath the gently swaying trees of the park. The path was one he'd never used before, seeing as he usually stayed on the opposite side of the park at night. But something was different that night, something called him to that side of the park and he wasn't sure what it was.
Unable to figure out the strange sense, he decided to enjoy his surroundings. He enjoyed walking around in the open air in the late hours. The sky was clear, save the speckled stars and a stray cloud or two. The gentle breeze cleansed his soul in a way and he welcomed it. He listened to the sounds of nature around him and the ones that he knew no one else could hear. It was then that he heard the yelling…
< " Oh c'monz," > a voice slurred somewhat loudly into the night air. < " I'll makiz good forz ya." > Thanks to the blue-haired man's keen hearing it sounded as if the person was only a few feet away.
What's going on? he wondered just as another voice broke through the tranquil silence.
( " Let go of me!" ) the voice sounded angry and yet he could sense the fear hidden in it. ( " Just get the hell away from me!" ) He knew the voice sounded strangely familiar and yet he couldn't place why. He didn't know really anyone near where he lived.
Why does it sound like someone I know? Anubis stopped walking and looked around. That's when he heard a loud surprised shout. Probably got hit, the swordsman smiled. Served him right.
< " You little whore!" > his eyes widened with the sound of glass breaking against something.
What the…? He didn't take the time to question it before he broke into a run and tried to listen for the voices again. They didn't come. Fear for the one person caused him to go faster and then guess where they might be. They sounded like they came from near here… He stared the large flower hedges before cutting around them quickly.
The scene he saw on the other side of the hedges made him see red. A ragged looking man was stretched over the limp form of someone else. The other person didn't seem to be awake and the man glared up at him through cut eyes.
" Whada ya wanz?" he growled.
" Get away from him," Anubis ordered in a warning voice.
" Buzz off," the other snapped back. " I foundz him firz."
" I suggest that you choose on the side of your own best interests, unless you like the sound of my fist against you face," Anubis stepped forward. " Now I shall repeat myself, get away from him."
The drunk stared at him for a moment before slowly backing away from the unconscious boy he'd attacked. He might have been intoxicated, but he knew that he was no match for the stranger that had but in on his fun. He stood up, hands raised and tried to reason (like a drunk can reason with someone) with him, " Heyz, juz wanz a good timezz."
" Go home and sober up!" Anubis shouted to him. " If I catch you trying this again, you'll regret it."
The other man frowned at him before turning to stumble away. " Youz canz have him," he called back. " Noz wothz it." He fell over slightly when he tried to turn the corner of the hedge, but luckily caught himself. After that he kept going and Anubis knew he was gone.
It was then that he turned his head back to the boy on the ground and instantly kneeled next to him. The back of his shirt was speckled with red spots, which the blue-haired warrior could only guess it was from whatever glass he believed he'd been struck with, guessing it was a beer bottle from the brown shards littering around them on the ground. Gently, he turned the boy onto his back and gasped.
It can't be…he couldn't believe whom he was staring at. The blonde hair, locks over right eye, but that could be…
" Halo?" he murmured in shock. The person he was staring at looked so much like the warrior he remembered fighting against those eight years before. But this man… No, he still looks like a boy, Anubis thought, a very sick boy. The blonde he stared at now was thin and weak-looking. He almost looked like he would break if he held him to tightly. But he resembled him so much that it was uncanny. My mind must just be playing tricks on me.
He also noticed the pink stain in the boy's hair and moved his locks to stare at the gash that ran from above his eye to temple. That's gonna need bandages quickly, he realized. But he couldn't do anything before he noticed said eye was opening.
Seiji could feel the pain in the side of his head. It was throbbing and he was trapped in the dark void that it forced upon him. But he could hear voices, loud angry ones, but their words were too jumbled for him to make anything out. He could smell the harsh breath of the drunk against his ear and he hated it.
I have to get up… he couldn't bring himself to escape his dark prison. But then the weight above him disappeared and more jumbled words and growls were heard. What's going on?
He felt someone turn him over and felt the alarms in his head go off. He had to get up, had to protect himself. Slowly, he could feel the pressure lifting off his eyes, allowing them to flutter a moment before he opened them a slit. His sight was too blurry. He could see someone standing over him and yet, couldn't tell who it was.
Immediately, he began to struggle, forcing himself to move, to get away from the man who'd attacked him. He put up his hands to push the other person away, but instead were caught and held gently.
" It's all right," a familiar voice soothed him. " He's gone."
Who is this? His mind couldn't think through the throbbing pain in his temple. His vision slowly began to clear, but all he could see was strange blue hair and midnight/blue eyes that seemed so familiar to him. Who is this? Did he help me?
" Are you all right?" the person asked again.
He opened his mouth to answer, but couldn't think straight. Something was so familiar about the person, their voice proved it. That's when he noticed a familiar scar running from the person's right eye in a cross shape. What? he raised his mind and touched the scar.
" Anubis?" he whispered in shock before falling back into his dark oblivion.
" Oh Gods," he couldn't deny it now. Those pale violet eyes belonged to no one but Korin no Seiji. But what's happened to him? he wondered. A familiar fire he'd suppressed long ago began to burn brighter as he slowly picked up the limp form of his opposite and carried him out of the park. Why didn't his friends stop this from happening?, Anubis asked himself. Whatever is going on, I'm going to find out.
