Chapter 5

A few hours later, Nasutei heard to knock on the front door. She got up from her armchair and went to answer. She found herself facing a man dressed in red. Apparently it was a first-aid worker.

"Is it you who told us of the disappearance of Touma Hashiba ?" Asked the man.
"Yes."
"The storm stopped, we will be able to leave on a search for him."
"Wait, we have our friend, Seiji Date, who left to search Touma during the storm. Since, we didn't have any news about him," Ryo intervened.
"Okay, I will warn my colleagues."
"We'll come with you," Shu, himself, asserted.
"OK. We will go back to my team. I will ask for additional snow scooters." The first-aid worker left a walkie-talkie.
"Shin, since you are hurt, you should remain here, if they do return," Ryo indicated.

Shin agreed with a nod of the head and looked at his friends and the first-aid worker as they left.

Nasutei and the 3 boys went back to the rescue team. They dispersed in small groups of two, each with a snow scooter.

Shu, accompanied by a first-aid worker, left in direction of the area where they had realized the absence of Touma.

Ryo and Nasutei took another way to widen their range of the search.

Nasutei, who had sat behind Ryo, questioned, "Ryo, do you believe that Shin was right by saying that Seiji would use his power, knowing that he could put himself in danger."
"You know well he would. Anyway, he would do it for any one of us and especially for Touma."
"Yes, but…" Nasutei stopped abruptly. "Ryo, stop !" She shouted.
"What ?"
"Look out over there. I'm sure that it is the Seiji's scooter."

They got near the machine and noticed that it was very damaged. Ryo pulled out the walkie-talkie and called Shu.

"Shu, it is Ryo. We found Seiji's scooter. And you, did you find something ?"
"Not, not for the moment. We'll keep looking."
"OK. Finished."

" Well then ?" Nasutei asked.
"I don't know."
"And if you tried to come in contact with them, if either is not too far, you should succeed."
"I will try." Ryo closed his eyes and concentrated.

"That is it !" He exclaimed. "It was fast and very weak, but I know I recognize Seiji's energy. We need to move quickly. I have the impression that he's in very bad shape."
"And Touma ?"

Ryo shook his head.

Shu and the first-aid worker had stopped on the brink of a rocky slope. The trooper took out a torch and illuminated the slope.

"Sir, bring your torch, I believe I saw something," exclaimed Shu.
The man directed his lamp in the same direction. "It looks like a ski. Touma must have fallen."
"Look at over there, there is a light getting closer to us," the first-aid worker said.
"It must be Ryo… I will call him with the talkie… Ryo, do you hear me ?"
"It's Nasutei. What's the matter ?"
"We just found a ski. We are on top of a rocky slope and we see you coming. Touma should not be very far away."
"With Ryo, we came up and saw a light right in front of us. Try to join us and also warn the team."
"We're coming," said Shu.

In the cave, the green glimmer that had wrapped around Seiji and Touma had gone out. At that moment, Touma started to get agitated. He opened his eyes and felt the heart of Seiji beating very slowly under his hand.

"Seiji ?" He sat up to look at the face of the blond. "Honey, wake up," he said with sobs in his voice from not seeing his friend moving. "What will I become if you leave me alone ? I can't live without you," he said while running a hand through the golden hair of his friend.

While he spoke to Seiji, he did not realize the arrival of Nasutei. As for Ryo, he had remained outside to await help.

"Touma ?" Said Nasutei while kneeling near the archer.
Touma turned slowly his head in direction to the young woman. His look, usually so cheerful, had become very dark.
"I am losing him, Nasutei."
"We will save him. Help will arrive any moment."
"Why did he do it ? He knew that it was dangerous…" He started to cry by squeezing the body of Seiji in his arms.
"He loves you, that's why."

At that moment, the others finally arrived and then transported Touma and Seiji to the hospital.
