Chapter 2

"Well if you are hurt then where are we?" Rowen asked. "I don't know, but I think we should look around and see what we can learn," Ryo said, the others nodded.
"And find out what happened to cause this," Kento said, still in shock, "I think this is some sort of warning."
"Wildfire, you haven't called him Sage in a long time," a hag of a woman entered the room with fresh water, bread and jam.
"I didn't know I needed your permission to call Halo anything, bitch," Wildfire hissed as he took the food and slapped her across the face, "you bother me, and get the fuck out of here. Leave Halo and I in peace."
The woman quickly left and shut the door in the Ronins faces.
"Ryo… you just…" Cye stammered.
"What in the hell brought that on?" Sage asked, "Why are we using our armor names and not our real names?"
"I don't know but I think that woman is our answer," Kento said, "I'm gonna follow her."

The hag coughs violently and holds her cheek. She does not cry but slides down the wall, holding her chest to prevent damage from the horrible coughing. Her hood falls from her head and her face is revealed. Mia Koji was now 45 years old but appeared to be about 65 with her scars and bruises. Her hair was cut short; she wore her clothes baggy and long. She was clothed from the top of her neck to her feet, to help keep out the cold and to protect her from getting hurt.
The coughing spell got worse, so much so it brought tears to her eyes, part of her prays for death.
"Mia!" Kento said, aghast, "No! Not you to, Mia! Can you hear me? Goddammit, you need a doctor! Mia, come on, hear me! It's okay, I'm not here to hurt you."
Mia stood up and goes on her way, down the hall and down the stairs. Cye, Ryo and Rowen run up to Kento looking at him a moment.
"Where was Mia?" Cye asked.
"You know that woman that got hit?"
"Yeah," Rowen said.
"That was her."

Sage watches his future self quietly; Wildfire leaves as soon as that hag-woman does, though going in the opposite direction. He walks in slowly and sits on the bed, checking Halo's pulse, which was very strong and he is breathing was normal. Tears well up in his eyes, he couldn't believe what he is seeing, he is laying there in a coma and there was nothing he could do.
"Why? After all the work I've done I end up like this? I cannot believe it. What is going on here?" he cries out.
"Leave him alone, don't you think he feels bad enough! Get out of here, you stupid evil!"
Sage turned around to see the future Cye, who looked at him with such rage in his eyes. It studies Cye a moment and then realizes that he can see through him. "Cye, what happened to you?" he whispered.
"Oh yes, rub it in… Sag-jay, you stupid evil, now get out of here. Just because I'm dead doesn't mean I get kill you," Torrent
said, "and if I ever hear you call me Cye again, I'll rip you into such tiny pieces they won't be able to identify you! You guys just
love rubbing in the fact you stole our identies, don't you?"
"Calm down! I don't know who Sag-jay is but it's me, it's Sage Date, I just want to know what's going on," Sage said, there was such murder in Torrent's eyes he felt very afraid for his life.
"That's bull shit, Sage is right there…"
"I'm Sage, I swear, I am 17 years old and we were living at Mia's house. It has been about 18 months since we defeated Talpa, I don't know where I am or how we got here. We were just about to have a night on the town with Kayura and we went to get some rest and we woke up here…. Wherever here is!"
"Do I look that stupid…?"
"Look at me," Sage said.
Torrent walks over to him and looks him over carefully and shallows a sob. "But how…"
"I don't know," Sage said, breathing a sigh of relief, "what happened here?"
"You have to go back!"
"Not until we know what happened here."
"The… the others are here as well. All of us!"
"Yes, and you can start with what happened to the house."
"It is all the bitch's fault! She did not keep the house up well at all, she can't do anything. This is all her fault!"
"What is?" Sage asked calmly, "start from the beginning."
"She did not even try to save us. She left us there to rot, the fucking whore! She knew what was going to happen and she didn't try hard to stop us at all."
"Who?"
"Mia!"
"Mia? What does Mia have to do with what happened here?"
"She knew what Kayura was going to do but she didn't try to stop us. She said not to go but she didn't try to tell us why… she wanted us to suffer and so we did for ten years."
"Kayura?"
"Better known as the Empress of the Universe."
"Huh?"
"Kayura took over the universe using the power of the Dynasty and the power of the eleven armors!"
Sage's eye widen, "How?"
"That night out… she seduced each of us and fooled us into thinking she loved us and we loved her. She used us and kept us lock up for ten years, using her powers to make our armors bend to her evil will. She did this by sex magic, and made us her slaves."
"What does that have to do with Mia?"
"Mia knew about it! She and that damn 'feeling'… she knew!"
"How could Mia have known, she doesn't like Kayura… it's not like she is psychic or anything!"
"She had that feeling… she had to have known, Kayura said that Mia knew," the rage within Torrent's eyes chilled Sage to the bone.
He knew that Mia would never allow something like that to happen to them. Is Kayura that evil to poison their minds against Mia?
"Listen to me… Kayura is lying. Mia tried to warn us but she didn't know. Even if she did tell us what was going to happen would be have believed her?"
"Yes, of course…"
"No, that is a lie and you know it! You would've done exactly what we did… think she is jealous or overworked," he corrected coldly, "probably suggest mental help for cooking up a story like that… I know I probably won't have spoken to her for a while."
"That… that…"
"Kayura fed you a pack of lies and you ate them right up. This is Mia we are talking about, she risked her life to protect us!"
Torrent looks away, "You don't understand… it's her fault… all of it."
'Mental programming,' Sage thought, 'I'll never make him see reason.'
"You'll think differently when I tell you this, boy, when I tell you what she did to him!" he points at Halo, " because of what
Kayura did Mia found him an unacceptable…"
"SILENCE!"
Sage jumps about 3 feet into the air and looks around for who is yelling. The room is crackling with energy, which was not there earlier. "Who… who is there?" Sage whispered.
"GET OUT OF HERE, TORRENT, BEFORE I DO SOMETHING I WILL NOT REGRET!"
"He has the right to know…"
"ARE YOU DEAF? OUT!"
Torrent fades from the room, Sage was glad he is gone. When Cye meets his future self… he will be sick to his stomach. Sage still could not see the presence that banished Torrent, he feels the energy levels go down slightly, turned from rage to extreme caution. "Who… who is there?" Sage repeats quietly.
"You speak the truth about who you are… you certainly are not Sagjay, you would not have wasted your time talking to Torrent or visiting me. If you were him you would just walk in and take Mia."
"Mia? Where is Mia?"
"Never mind… tell me how you got here!"
"I don't know that is what I'm trying to find out," Sage's heartbeat quickens finally realizing he is talking to his future self.
"Yes, I heard your story. I do not want to believe it but…. I cannot explain this link that is developing between us, unless you are who you claim to be. There has to be a way of getting you home before you get hurt."
"I'm not going back until I know what happened to cause all of this. If you won't tell me I'll find Mia and she'll tell me."
"Leave Mia alone, she won't help you."
Sage just wants to scream out his frustration. "Stop dancing around the topic of Mia. Why does Cye hate her so much? What did she find unacceptable about you?"
"Never mention that again!"
"How are we talking? Some form of telepathy?"
"Yes, exactly, we use telepathy to talk. I cannot exactly sit up and entertain you right now."
"Don't be sarcastic," Sage hisses, "tell me what I want to know. How did this happen?"

Kento tries to pick Mia up and his body goes right through her, like he is a ghost. He growls in frustration, "Mia, can you hear me? Please hear me… who can I get to help you."
"I don't think she can hear you, Kento," Cye said, he felt sick seeing Mia in such a horrible state. Only about an hour ago he forgot to make her tea and take care of her, is that the beginning of a downward spirl were no one takes care of her. Why is she up in her condition, she needs a doctor and to be put to bed.
"But we just can't leave her like this?"
"I know… lets go back and find Sage, maybe with his healing talent he can help her."
Cye looks up at Ryo, who is as pale as a sheet of paper and trembling. Cye walks up to him, "Are you okay?"
"No, I'm not okay," he answered, "you saw what I did. I hit her with the same anger and rage I used when fighting Talpa. I hate her and I don't understand why. I want answers and I want them now."
"Mia first, answers later," Cye said then thought a moment, "Ryo, see what you can find out about this place. Rowen, go get Sage; Kento and I will stay here. Everyone meet back in Mia's room in about an hour."
"Want me to bring Sage back here?" Rowen asked.
"Yes and quickly," Kento said, "she is coughing up blood."

Rowen runs back to Mia's room and watches a moment as Sage and his future self have a conversion. 'So we can talk to ourselves but why can't we talk to Mia?'
"What Cye said… is that the truth? About the night out and the whole Kayura plus the sex magic thing? Tell me."
"Yes, it is true, what he didn't tell you is that Mia broke us out of Kayura's castle. She freed us and it almost cost her her life.
She had to fight Kayura herself."
"Then why does Cye hate her so much?"
"Mental programming, the rest of the Ronins were unable to resist her magics but from our hard work and mental training I was able to hold out. They all hate her."
"Can't you talk reason into them… use our powers to help them?"
"I am using myself as an anchor to limit Kayura's powers."
"I see… you hate her to, but for another reason. Whatever she did hurt you badly, didn't I?"
Rowen enters the room, "Sage, you've got to come quick! Mia needs you."
"Mia from our time or this time?" Sage asks.
"No, it seems that we were the only ones that came now hurry, she needs you, Sage, Mia is coughing up blood! Kento tried to help her but he passed through her like he was a ghost."
"No," Sage cried and follows Rowen to where Mia is.
"STAY AWAY FROM THE ATTIC!" Halo yells to him, "oh Mia…"

Kento and Cye put their arms around Mia, trying to comfort her by sending her their affection. Tears slide down Cye's face as he whispered in her ear to hang on. After what felt like an eternity Rowen appears with Sage. "How is she?" Sage asks.
Cye points to Mia's hands and the drops of blood on the floor, "She has stopped coughing but look…"
Sage kneels down and gently touches Mia's cheek. "Can you guys touch her now?"
Kento and Cye both try and both fail again. "You seem to be the only one who can, Sage, try talking to her."
"Mia," Sage whispers then looks down a moment, "Mia, darling, are you okay? Hurry we must get you somewhere that you can relax. Why didn't you tell anyone how sick you were."
She does not respond but instead tries to stand up. "You are too sick to go anywhere but straight to bed. Come with me, you rest with Halo, trust me he won't mind."
"I don't get it… you can touch her but she can't hear you."
"I don't get this place at all," Kento said, "why aren't any of us taking care of her?"
"I'll explain later," Sage said as he focuses his energy on her, he looks up, "oh god no!"

"What?" Rowen, Kento and Cye asked in unision. "Mia is dying and I do not have the power to save her, not like this," Sage began to weep bitterly.
Ryo walks around, though he knows he is supposed to look around for answers instead he is looking for something more important, he is looking for himself. He needs to know why he hit Mia, she could not have done anything worth that sort of treatment. He sits down on the top step, it is almost as if 'Wildfire' disappeared. He could not get a clue to where 'Cye', 'Kento' or 'Rowen' were. The house was so quiet, it did not feel like the same house. The pictures were not on the walls, the wallpaper is ripped down and the windows were boarded up. It feels more like a prison than Mia's house. "What happened here? Why did this have to happen? We only do what we think is right! How did we go so wrong?" Ryo asked himself out loud.
He sits down on the top stairs and sighs; way too many questions and not enough time to ponder them all before he has to go back and meet up with the guys. All of a sudden he feels this hand tighten around his throat and cannot breath. He tries to fight off his attacker, gets himself turned around using his nails to claw at his enemy. Anything to give me a few more seconds to get his leg into the place to knock his attacker down. "No," he whispers, seeing his attacker at last.
"So," Wildfire said, "another trick that bitch Mia has brought to torture me. The whore won't save you now!"
