I don't own anything…
Discovery
Sunlight filtered in through the hotel window and beat down on Kagome's face. Kagome yawned and rolled over to face the sunlight. Kagome frowned a bit and then went into the bathroom to shower. After a five-minute cleanup, the young woman changed into a pair of jean shorts and a light blue t-shirt, which were the only clean clothes in the bag. Kagome flushed as thoughts of the previous night came rushing back. How could such a heartless killer be as considerate and gentle as he was? Kagome smiled and thought, `He's not as heartless and cold as he appears…' Kagome went about tidying the bed and making a call down to the lobby to enquire of her captor's whereabouts, not hearing the slight rustle of the curtains and a shadowy figure creeping up behind her. As Kagome hung up the phone, she felt the cold of steel pressed up against her neck. Being spun around, Kagome looked into the frigid eyes of a slightly older woman with long black hair tied into a tight bun. Kagome whimpered against the blade. The older woman smiled cruelly, "So Battousai has found another slut to fuck, hm?" Fear swept into anger and Kagome pulled the knife away from her throat and screamed for Kenshin.
Kenshin was down in the lobby munching on a stale bagel from the continental breakfast when he heard Kagome's scream. Jumping up with lightning speed, the hitokiri took the steps four at a time and raced down the hall towards the hotel room. Bursting through the door, Kenshin saw a woman clad in black holding a sword to a very angry Kagome, who was pressed up against the screen door. "That's enough of that, Kagome. Your attacker will die at my hand," Kenshin said. The intruder turned around. Kenshing gasped and fell against the wall. It was Tomoe resurrected from the grave. "Tomoe…" Kenshin whispered even as he unsheathed his katana. Tomoe laughed cruelly, "Didn't expect to see me alive again, huh Kenshin?" Kagome watched the encounter with heightened senses. `Did he say Tomoe? It can't be…' Kenshin growled out an answer, "I am not at all surprised at this, wench."
The raven-haired intruder pointed her sword away from Kagome and at Kenshin. "You abandoned me to die, Battousai! Now you will pay!" With that, Tomoe leapt at Kenshin, wildly swinging her sword. Kenshin's eyes narrowed, "You wield your weapon clumsily, wench." Tomoe screamed in fury and tried again and again. Kenshin dodged her every strike, still not finishing her off. Kagome stood up and hurriedly searched the room for some kind of weapon. Then, the young miko noticed a faint pinkish light coming from Tomoe's lower back. Kagome's eyes widened and she whispered, "It…it cannot be…it disappeared after Inuyasha…" Kenshin's eyes flitted down to look at Kagome. She was staring at Tomoe's back. `What is with that girl…?' Kenshin still would not finish Tomoe off.
Kagome found a small dagger laying on an endtable. Making a grab for it, Kagome reached it and flung herself on Tomoe's back. Kagome laced the dagger with a purification spell and stabbed it into the jewel shard. Tomoe screamed and turned to ash on the spot. Kenshin stared in horror and then turned on Kagome. "How dare you! She was mine to destroy!" Kagome picked up the jewel shard and cleansed it, "She was not Tomoe, Kenshin. She was but a puppet. She has confirmed my worst fears." Kenshin's eyes narrowed, amber glittering, sword at the ready, "What fears are those, bitch?" Kagome's gaze hardened, "A foe that I and my comrades defeated. He is a terrible evil and is YOUR employer." Kenshin chuckled darkly, "Prove it. Mr. Sakata does not give off an aura of pure evil." Kagome answered with a bitter laugh, "What are your employer's ambitions? He is obviously the most powerful person in Kyoto." Kenshin thought over all that Sakata owned and controlled his roots in the politics of the city and the country surrounding. The hitokiri shook his head, "I will take you at your word, but as soon as I prove you wrong, you will die." Kagome watched as Kenshin through all the dirty clothes back into the sack and motioned for his captive to follow. Kagome thought, `He truly is a heartless bastard…'
The Sakata residence…
Sakata Natsu sat in his office thumbing through an ancient book. The title of the book was unknown but its contents told of a long-dead evil that would one day rise again. Sakata came to the page he searched for. After reading it over, Sakata smiled darkly. "This confirms it then. I am the reincarnation of the demon Naraku…"
