Sesshomaru was a demon king of the western part of Japan. He was a great and powerful king. Sesshomaru had a very handsome face with long sliver hair and amber eyes. However, he had a cold heart.

Every night he would marry a very beautiful woman (human or demon it didn't matter to him) and the next morning he would kill her. This had been going on for 2 years. No one knew why he was doing this. Everyone prayed that it would stop or else their kingdom would be lost.

One day at a small village, an official from the castle appeared. "King Sesshomaru has decided to marry a maiden from this village. In the morning your village must decide which maiden is to be his wife." The official announced.

Just after he had spoken, a brown haired and brown eyed young woman came up to him and said "There is no need to wait in the morning for a decision . I am willing go to marry our great king. I have no family or friends that will miss me."

The official was taken by surprise. He had never know a maiden to willing sacrifice herself. This young woman showed no fear whatsoever. He couldn't deny this woman request. "May I ask what is your name?" He asked.

"My name is Rin." Rin answered with a smile.

"Well, Rin be prepared to leave in the morning." The official replied.

In the morning Rin met the official. "The journey to the palace will take at least three days. During that journey, your needs will be taken care of and you will be treated as like a queen. If you ever need anything just ask for me . My name is Miroku." He said to Rin.

Miroku escorted and helped Rin into the palanquin. It was made of sandalwood with carvings of sakura blossoms. Once she was inside, Rin noticed that the cushions she sat on were very soft and comfortable. They were blue and made of silk. The pillows were also made of silk but of many different colours.

Shortly after she was inside, a woman came and sat next to her. She turned and faced Rin. She then bowed her head to Rin and said "My name is Sango. I will be you lady-in-waiting."

"I look forward to having you in my service Songo." Rin answered with a smile.

A few minutes later, they were off.

During that journey to the palace, Rin had become better acquainted with Miroku and Sango. She laughed when Miroku asked Songo to bear his child and Songo's response to that question, with sound slap on his face. Rin was somewhat sad when the journey reached it's end.

Once they had arrived at the palace, Miroku took her to her chambers with Sango following them. Rin loved the way the room looked. It was elegant yet it was simple. Rin explored ever corner of the room. From thick soft carpet on the floor to huge sandalwood bed with light blue silk sheets.

While looking at the tapestries on the walls, she found a secret door. Rin opened the door found out that it was another room. She stepped inside, leaving the door behind her open. Inside Rin found another sleeping chamber identical to hers in size but in a different style. From its style she could tell that this was a room of a powerful warrior, yet the room itself showed no fear or hatred in it.

She sat on the fur sheets of the huge ebony bed when someone entered the room. "I didn't think that anyone would be in here !" said the young man that entered.

He was about Rin's age. He had black hair and dark brown eyes. He appeared to be a servant. Rin was a little startled by him. She looked at him and replied "I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to be here." She got off the bed and before she left she asked the servant "Will I get in trouble for being in your master's chambers?"

"No my lady you will not. I'm just here to get the king's clothes out for tonight. I'm the king's chamberlain Kohaku." He answered.

"It was nice to meet you Kohaku." Rin said. She then left the room from the direction she entered it and closed the door.

Rin was back in her chambers, when Sango came in. "What kimono would you like to wear for your wedding tonight?" She asked her.

"I would like to wear the one that the king's mother wore on her wedding day." Rin replied.

Sango was surprised when Rin made this request. None of the doomed brides that she has served has ever made such a request. Songo was wondering what Rin was up to. "I shall find it and bring it to you my lady." She answered.

While she was waiting for Sango, Rin got a few servants to prepare her bath. When it was ready, she stepped in and washed herself. "Please let this work!" Rin prayed while she was in her bath.

Rin got out, dried herself off and put on her inner kimono. By the time she had put it on, Sango had arrived. She had brought in the kimono that Rin had requested. It was a very beautiful kimono that was made of heavy silk. It was dark blue with pink sakura blossoms. Sango helped Rin put on the kimono and the rest of her bridal ensemble .

By the time Rin was dressed, Miroku came in and announced that it was time. He escorted her to the throne room where the ceremony would take place. As soon as she was at her place, Miroku began the ceremony.

While he was performing the ceremony, Sesshomaru looked at his latest bride. "This one is the most beautiful of them all." He thought.

He then looked at her kimono. It looked familiar to him. He took a quiet sniff and recognized it as being his mother's. He was somewhat touched by that, though he didn't show it to anyone. "She even has a pleasant smell. I'll let this one live through the morning and kill her at sunset. I'll give her a quick and painless death." Sesshomaru thought.

After the ceremony was performed, Sesshomaru escorted his new bride to the dinning hall for the wedding feast. Everyone in the hall was drinking and eating to their hearts content. When the songs that were being sung were starting to get bawdy, Rin rose from her seat and left the hall to retire and prepare for Sesshomaru's "visit". The other women in the hall also left to retire.

When Rin returned to her chambers, Sango helped her out of her outer and inner kimonos. She then help Rin into her silk nightgown. Songo had made it for her during Rin's journey to the castle. It was red and it was simply made, with no embroideries and had a low bodice in the front. The nightgown looked good on Rin and showed every curve of her figure.

Rin then put on a matching robe. She gave Sango a hug and headed toward the secret passage that she had found earlier today. She knew that Sesshomaru would expect her to be in his chamber. Without any fear, Rin went through the door and stepped in.

Once she was in, Rin sat on the bed waiting for Sesshomaru. Moments later he arrived. He was wearing a light blue silk jacket that Rin had made for him as a wedding present. Like her nightgown, it too was simply made with the only decoration being a purple crescent moon that Rin created and stitched herself. He was also wearing light tan leather pants.

"Does your majesty like his gift?" Rin asked him.

"Yes, I do. It's one of the most comfortable things that I've worn. I understand that you made this yourself." Sesshomaru replied.

"I'm glad that you like it. Would his majesty like for me to tell him a story?" Rin answered.

"You may tell me a story" He said.

Sat down next to her on the bed. Sesshomaru thought "What harm can a simple story do?"

To be continued …

This fic is my first serious attempt at writing a fic with many chapters. This is a challenge to myself to write longer stories. The stories that Rin will tell are rewrites of my favourite stories that I love. Also this fic will feature my favourite couples.
