Rurouni Kenshin Fan Fiction ❯ A Twist, A spice ❯ Missing Chapter Yahiko's Rescue ( Chapter 6 )
I don't own any one from Ruroni Kenshin, and well that's fine by me.
For those of you who are looking at his and going it doesn't start where its suppose to. I kinda forgot this chapter when I posted on another site and so I had to write it before chapter 13. Which would now make that 14. It is also shorter than my other chapters and I am sorry about that.
This is how they got into the forest. If this seems a little choppy I am sorry, but it's the best I can do to add something I forgot. I was originally going to do a flashback and all, but I decided that I needed to clear that up, after the review let me know. I thank you. Also I was going to add this to another chapter, but I was lazy and so this what came out I hope it's still good.
Kaoru growled as she paced around the Dojo. Kenshin was busy cleaning the Kitchen. "That stupid Sano," Kaoru growled as she picked up a bokken. She started doing slashing movements. "Why. Does. He. Have .To. Mess. Everything. Up." With each word said she slashed through the air. She turned and countered an invisible blade and then lunged forward.
Kaoru dropped the Bokken and fell to her knees, `Yahiko how could I even begin to...' Kaoru's thoughts trailed off as she heard the door slide open.
"Miss Kaoru the kitchen has been cleaned." Kaoru turned to look at Kenshin. She smiled weakly at him. "Don't worry we'll get Yahiko back," Kenshin smiled at her and then tuned to leave.
"Kenshin how much longer before we can leave?"
"It will be a little while, try and calm down, I will go and make some lunch." Kenshin shut the door and then walked back to the kitchen. `There has to be some way I can make her stay here, this has to be a trap for her. I can't keep her safe and try to rescue Yahiko.' Kenshin made it to the kitchen and heard a noise. He slowly approached the door was slightly ajar. He peaked in the door and saw Sano. He placed his hand on his sword and opened the door silently, then put the handle against his back.
"What the hell?" Sano yelled. He stood still, and waited for the person to talk. He heard a chuckle and turned around. "Kenshin?" Sano growled.
"Why are you in Miss Kaoru's kitchen. I already had to clean up your mess earlier, if you want to keep your hands, don't mess the place up." Kenshin smiled and then brought his sword down in front of Sano's hands, less than an inch from hitting them.
"Riiiight," Sano stuck his hands in his pockets. "I came to get a bite to eat," Sano pleaded.
"Fine, I have a favor I would like to ask you as well." Kenshin started to gather stuff for lunch. "I was wondering if you would come with me and Miss Kaoru." Kenshin stopped and sighed. "A student of hers has been taken and we have to get him back."
"You don't want the missy to get hurt right, after all you are protecting her right?" Sano laughed a little.
"Yes." Kenshin sneered as he cut vegetables for the stew he was making. "K in payment for the lunch I'll help you."
"Good!" Kenshin barked as he sloshed the vegetables into the stew
"What's wrong with you?" Sano questioned, his neck hairs standing on end.
"You take everything a little too lightly." Kenshin stated flatly.
"Well you live and learn right?" Sano shrugged and sat at the table.
Kenshin gave Sano a warning look, and finished preparing lunch. He filled three bowels with the stew, then set Sano's and his on the table. He carried the third bowl on a tray to Kaoru. He lightly knocked on the door. No answer came. He opened it slowly and saw Kaoru had fallen asleep. She was in the middle of the dojo floor, lying on her left side. Her hands a makeshift pillow. Kenshin smiled and closed the door, and took the bowel back to the kitchen.
"That was good thanks for the meal." Kenshin set the bowel on the counter and turned toward the table. He glanced at his bowel, and then looked closer, it was empty.
"Sano?" Kenshin scolded.
"What?" Sano asked innocently.
"Never mind," Kenshin picked the bowel up and set it on the counter to be washed. He left the kitchen once more and headed back to the dojo. He slid the door open and pulled his sword free from its sheath. "You may as well come out, I can sense you." Kenshin sped in front of Kaoru and blocked an attack that was headed for her neck.
"Your speed is very good, but can you dodge a multiple attack and save the girl." Kenshin slashed directly in front of him. "Ugggrh," A man in black appeared.
"You may move quickly but talking gives you away." Kenshin stated as he thrusted forward, hitting thin air.
"Yes, well I won't make the same mistake twice, I'll see you at the river side." The figure disappeared, and so did his presence.
Kenshin breathed heavily as he touched his neck. "He is quick, but I dodged the attack."
Kenshin looked down at Kaoru, who was still sleeping. He bent down and slowly and lifted her into his arms. He walked lightly to her room and laid her on the futon. He sighed as he went to stand.
"Kenshin," Kaoru said breathlessly. Kenshin stopped and looked at her, her fingers wrapped around his wrist and held on tight. A small smile came to her face, the slowly receded. "Please...." Kenshin wasn't able to make out the rest, so he bent his ear close to her mouth.
"Please what Miss Kaoru?" Kenshin questioned.
"Don't leave, stay and protect me always." Kaoru mumbled.
SLAP
Kenshin lay on his right side, his right hand holding his left cheek. He looked to Kaoru who lay in a sprawled position snoring lightly. `Ow,' was his only thought as he slowly stood. He covered her up and then slid the door shut.
"Haa the missy give you that red mark? Kenshin's eyes flashed gold to warn him. Sano whistled and turned his head away. "When will we be going?" Sano asked looking into the sky.
"In about two hours to three hours. I can't leave here, but to come with us is dangerous as well." Kenshin sighed and sat under a tree, leaning on the trunk.
"Yes it is, but leaving her by herself could be worse, you wouldn't be around, unlike at the river side you will." Sano nodded and the sat on the opposite side of the tree.
"Hmm"

Kaoru awoke and looked around her. `My room?' Kaoru sat up and flung the covers from her legs and ran and opened the door.
"Miss Kaoru, are you alright?" Kenshin asked as he stood from under the tree.
"Yes, I thought..." Kaoru's words trailed as she looked into his eyes and then she turned her head away.
"Yes Miss Kaoru." Kaoru shook her head and then walked out onto the porch.
"Miss Kaoru we need to leave now." Kaoru turned her gaze back to Kenshin and slowly walked toward him.
"Don't tell me that that flop is going to come as well?" Kaoru almost yelled.
"Yes miss Kaoru, he will come help us fight." Kaoru growled and gave each of them a death glare, then turned on her heels and went into the dojo. "Miss Kaoru?" Kenshin called.
"I had to retrieve my sword." Kaoru came out with it strapped to her waist and then they left.

It had been long walk to the river it took an hour and a half to reach it. Kaoru was breathing heavily when they reached the spot. "We're here," Kenshin stated as his eye darted around looking for anyone.
SPLASH
"So the dreaded Battousai has come," The S said as he jumped from the river. "'Not surprised Battousai?" S snickered and then ran towards him.
Kenshin readied his blade to attack. His eyes widened, as he could no longer see his opponent. Kenshin turned around, jumped back, and then drew his sword. "Where is the boy?" Kenshin yelled. Kenshin slid back as he blocked a forceful attack.
"The boy is near here, you will have to find him before his rope breaks and he falls into the river." S jumped back and used his speed once more.
"Miss Kaoru, you and Sanosuke need to go find..." Kenshin was silenced as he jumped to the right, avoiding a fatal blow.
"Kenshin, we can't..." One looked from Kenshin's golden eyes silenced Kaoru. They both ran down the river looking for Yahiko.
"Now we can fight to the full," Kenshin snickered. He stood still and closed his eyes.
Kenshin turned to his left and swung the blade low against the ground.
"Ahhh," S stumbled from his speed, tripping over the blade. He rolled on the ground, when he stopped he tried to stand, but couldn't. S looked down at his legs, they had a slash on each.
"Unfortunately you didn't hit the blunt edge of my sword, it being a reverse blade." Kenshin smiled and he flicked the blood from the sword. He walked to S and picked him up, "If I killed people you would have been dead by now, such an easy opponent." Kenshin chuckled and dropped him, smashing his blade into S's shoulder, knocking him unconscious.
He caught up to Kaoru and Sano, who were standing really close to the edge of the river. He looked up and above them was Yahiko, bounded and gagged, hanging from one of the middle branches. "Miss Kaoru," Kenshin called as he jogged up to them.
"Kenshin, hoe are we suppose to get him down, the rope is rubbing against something sharp, each time he moves he is lowered a little." Kaoru cried.
"I'm not sure Miss Kaoru..." Kenshin looked to his right, what little sunlight there was, seem to shine off something. He saw a knife head for the rope. Kenshin ran to the rivers edge, just as the knife connected and Yahiko fell. Kenshin caught him right before he touched the water. He fell back and landed on his butt.
"Kenshin you caught him," Kaoru cried, with tears streaming out of her eyes. She smiled, and walked toward them.
Kenshin breathed a sigh of relief. He heard some pebbles fall into the river he looked up. "Miss Kaoru, stay where you are don't take another step."
"Huh." Kaoru's eyes widened as the part oft he bank she was standing on started to fall into the river.
"Missy!" Sano lunged and grabbed her arm. He yanked her onto the bank and threw her away from the edge. The bank he was standing on fell into the river.
"SANO!" Kaoru called as he was being washed away.
Kenshin untied Yahiko and then started running after Sano. He jumped into the river as Sano's head went under the surface. Kenshin pulled Sano's head above water and tried swimming back to shore. They were swept downstream too fast for Kenshin to get close to the bank. He spotted a trunk, Kenshin started to swim for it. He caught it and pulled himself and Sano along to the bank.
Kaoru and Yahiko had caught up to them by now, and helped Kenshin by pulling Sano out of the water. Kenshin slowly climbed out and plopped onto the ground spent. "Is Sano, breathing?" Kenshin questioned.
"Yes he is, luckily, you got to him before he stopped breathing." Kaoru stated awed. "We should head back to the Dojo."
"We will stay here tonight." Kenshin stated flatly as he stood and started walking toward a set of trees.
"Kenshin?" Kaoru called.
"..."She got no answer and decided to follow him. "Kenshin?" She called again.
"Miss Kaoru, go back to the others, I need to find a place we can sleep." Kenshin called a few feet from her.
"Alright." Kaoru mumbled and then stomped back to Yahiko and Sano. "Kenshin is looking for someplace for us to sleep." Kaoru smiled at Yahiko and the sat next to Sano.

Kenshin found a spot and got Kaoru and Yahiko, he picked Sano up and led them to it. He started a fire, bringing Sano close to it.
The next Morning Sano awoke and rubbed his numb arms. "Man its cold." He saw the embers from the fire and started a new one. Waking Kenshin in the process.
"Sano your awake?"
"Yeah, I'm freezing thought I'd make another fire." Sano started the fire and then sat back a little. "So I take it you saved me from the river?"
"Yes, Sano I have a favor to ask?"
"What is it?"
"Would you take Yahiko back into town, I would like to stay out here for a couple of days."
"Sure no problem."
As soon as Yahiko awoke Sano took him back into town, leaving Kenshin and Kaoru where they were.
Okay I know it's not the best but I was running out of ideas and that's the best my brain could come up with. It does make things a little better, and yes I know it confuses something in the next chapter so I may have to fix that, ughhhhh I can't believe I forgot this. Also to the person who was asking why I made him a beggar (which I didn't), I think I answered you anyway. You should of liked this chapter a little and all. I hope anyway gotta go and sorry this took so long, but it was so hard to write. Next time I forget anything I will do a flashback this was nuts.
