Rurouni Kenshin Fan Fiction ❯ Akakami ❯ Trust me ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
It was a warm spring afternoon. The wind was wild but rather soothing than unpleasent. Kaoru Kamiya stood on the cold kitchen floor or the dojo in which she lived. She sighed as she prepared a meal of rice, with the slightest splash of vinegar, ginger decorated the side of the dish. Everyone was gone. Yahiko, against her better judgement, had gone to spend the week at his girlfriend's house. And Sanosuke was visiting Miss Megumi.
was bound to happen, Kaoru thought. There had been been an attraction between Sano and Megumi from the very beginning, when Megumi-sama was still the angsty nurse type. As for Yahiko, he was utterly dedicated to his girlfriend, Maramo. Very rare for a boy his age. Normally pre-teens were young and fickle, but not Yahiko. He acted with wisdom well beyond his years, rivaling that of a grown man's. Though he may not have loved her at such a time, Yahiko even wore her locket strung around his neck. Such a uber sweet tribute to young love.
again, Kaoru kneeded biscuit dough with her cream white hands. She stared out the window for what seemed like hours. Once reality dawned upon her, Kaoru reached down, without looking, to pick up the blob of dough. What she touched was softer than any dough she had ever felt. Looking down to what she was touching, Kaoru gasped, she was holding Kenshin's hand.
"Kaoru-dono....." Kenshin wanted to say something but his mouth revolted against it, clamped shut to prevent any pearls of speech from spilling. Kaoru akwardly took back her hand, with which she used to sheild her face until it's bright red complexion returned to normal. "Kenshin. What are you doing?" She squeeked. In the depths of her seemingly innocent mind, Kaoru wondered how such a bloodied hand could be so soft...
she was given no more time to ponder such irrelivent things, as she noticed Kenshin was blushing slightly. "Well....I was wondering if you would like to go to the falls with me." He smiled. "Me?" Kaoru breathed. His question had caught her off guard. She blinked several times, each time seeing the same attractive redhead standing before her when her eyelids popped open. Kenshin nodded.
they walked and talked on their way to the falls. Kaoru pinched herself as soon as Kenshin withdrew to look at the river up ahead. She had to be sure it was real. Because the way they gazed upon the fall's solemn liquid beauty together, it seemed to good to be true.
felt the same about her. "We're here!" He announced. A pleasent little smirk of denial spread across his soft lips like wildfire. He wouldn't let her know about the fatal attraction he felt inside his heart. The heart of a manslayer. Even if the ex-battosai's heart was currently softened by oh-so-sweet lies and sugary deception. It still pumped with the cold blood of a killer and still troubled him at the worse possible times. Like a little demon from his past that followed him, waiting to stike.
sat down on the soft, lush moss and removed her sandles. As she dipped her dainty feet in the clear water, tiny fish hurried away and miniature waves grazed the lake's surface. Kenshin could feel himself get lost in the ripples. "Kenshin... why did you ask me to come here?" Kaoru spoke slowly and carefully. "Oh....." Kenshin continued to stare at the fading ripples as if he were talking to them. "Snap out of it! They're not that interesting!" Kenshin thought harshly to himself.
one thought you might need a break from your work. It seemed like an enjoyable thing to do." Said Kenshin, smiling at her with his lavender-blue eyes. "So I asked." He let the two bottomless blue pits do their work on Kaoru before closing them to embrace the wind.
looked confused and mildly upset. "Is that all?" She asked, wondering he was spacing out at such a time as this. Kenshin opened his sparkling eyes of artificial innocence, only to look at the crystal water. He was infatuate. But the red head felt guilty, after all, Kaoru was much prettier than water. But he just couldn't look at her without feeling nervous or aroused. She stirred too many feelings inside of him.
more." Kenshin admitted, finally. He broke out of his dark daydreamy battosai mood, and was now at a loss for words. He looked around for something to change the subject with. "Do you swim?" He asked. "No." Kaoru responded. She took notice of the pink flushed look on his face. Although it didn't seem like a fair or valid thing to say, Kaoru asked, "Do you....like me...?"
didn't answer right away, just stared at the sky, blinking childishly. Kaoru put her hand on his shoulder as he spoke, "Miss Kaoru. I do not think it is best to reveal my feelings for you now. As it is the closing of a very dangerous era. People will attempt to rise up against what the cannot control, the passing of time. Who knows who may die." What an excuse, Kenshin thought, but there was some truth to it. Kaoru returned her hand.
melted under her stare. It looked like her icy eyes were now on fire, how strange. His head tilted to the side and with his trademark smile he said, "Yes." And sweatdropped. Kaoru looked determined as she stood up. "How about that swim?" She exclaimed. "I thought you said you don't...." Kenshin hitched an eyebrow. "Now I do!" Kaoru giggled. "Oro?" He looked puzzled. "Come on! I know of a great hot spring down this way!" Kaoru tugged him along like a ragdoll. "ORO!" o.o;
