Catching Rain

By Carter Tachikawa

Pairing: Kenshin x Kaoru

Rating: NC-17 (yup, it's a lemon)

Disclaimer: I wish I owned Rurouni Kenshin. But it's not mine, that it's not. (Gomen, I had to say that Kenshin style!)

(Hey, everyone. This is my first Rurouni Kenshin fic EVER and I'm kinda nervous about it. It's also a lemon but I don't know how well I pulled it off. I hope it suits you all. Please do be gentle ^^;. Like I said, I never wrote something like this before. Oh well, first time for everything. Don't like Kenshin x Kaoru or lemons, then don't read. Simple, ne? )

Kamiya Kaoru could not sleep.

It had been a rather busy day at the dojo training Yahiko and taking care of small chores like cooking (though both Sanosuke and Yahiko were quick to disregard her cooking skills. She gave them a nice lump on the head and that silenced them for the rest of the meal). They deserved to have some beef hot pot at the Akabeko some day soon. No doubt that Sano would put the meal on his tab again. Nonetheless, all this was supposed to make her feel tired. Yet she wasn't.

Why can't I sleep? She wondered to herself. My body aches from working all day but I can't close my eyes and drift into slee

She tried to get comfortable on the floor but to no avail. Over and over again, she kept hearing Sanosuke's voice.

"You shouldn't work yourself, Jou-chan." He had said. "Stop cooking. You'll do us all a favor."

For that comment, Sanosuke received a lump the size of Kyoto.

There was no use trying to fall asleep by just closing her eyes. So she got up and decided to walk for a while. Perhaps that would make her feel a bit drowsy and she'd have an easier time sleeping.

Crawling out of her covers, she stood up and walked over to the door. Then she went out side and began walking around the dojo. It was cool but very dry for it hadn't rained in the past few days. Because of that, she hadn't feeling much like teaching because it was so dry.

As she rounded the corner, she saw a shadow of a person sitting off in the corner. At first, she didn't recognize who it was. Coming closer (and half prepared to attack), she did recognize something. The moonlight was shining down on the man's cross-shaped scar. Kaoru let out a sigh. She had no doubt that it was Himura Kenshin.

Kenshin, also known as Hitokiri Battousai, had come to Kaoru's dojo not too long ago. Somehow, he was completely different from the coldhearted murderer that everyone knew him as. He was a rurouni now, a wanderer who could leave any minute. Kaoru had been wary of him first but in time, she grew to trust him. He did a lot of the chores at the dojo and he could cook (better than her, Sanosuke often said). And slowly, she began to see him as more than a mere wanderer or worker.

"Kenshin?" She whispered. Kenshin turned around, his purple eyes and face indescribable.

"Kaoru-dono." He acknowledged. Behind them, there was nothing but darkness. No other insects had come out tonight. It was only the two of them.

"Gomen-nasaii." She apologized. "I did not mean to disturb you."

"Iie. You were not bothering me, that you were not."

"Oh. Good."

The silence fell fast between them. Kaoru kept looking at Kenshin though she didn't want to for the fear that it would be rude. Yet she couldn't help it. This wasn't the first time she felt this way towards him either. Ever since he came into her life, she felt closer to him than to anyone.

"It's getting warmer but there's still no rain." She tried to begin a conversation.

Kenshin nodded.

"It's so quiet." She whispered.

Kenshin didn't look up at her. "Hai, it is."

Kaoru straightened out her kimono as she thought of what to say next. Normally, it wasn't this difficult to talk with Kenshin but somehow she couldn't get the words out. Something was coming over her. Finally, she had to ask him something.

"Kenshin?"

"Hai?"

Kaoru blushed. "Do I look…pretty to you?"

Unfortunately for her, Kenshin tuned out and never answered her. He stared up at the sky where the rain should have been falling from but wasn't. Not one to be taken lightly, Kaoru fumed.

"Kenshin!" She snapped. This caused Kenshin to stand up straight and turn around.

"Oro?" The rurouni inquired, growing wide-eyed.

Kaoru pouted. "You didn't answer my question."

The look of confusion quickly turned to one of embarrassment. "Gomen, Kaoru-dono. I don't know how to answer a question like that."

That wasn't what Kaoru wanted to hear. "Baka."

Of course, Kenshin had a point. That kind of question was hard to answer.

"We should probably go inside, that we should." He said, changing the subject again.

Kaoru didn't say anything. Her mind had wafted back to Kenshin again. He was a handsome mystery, a wanderer with a strange past and an unknown future. Not that different from Kaoru herself. He did anything she told him to and then some. In truth, she really liked him. But how she could tell him that, she didn't know. She also had a small feeling he liked her too but she never asked. It was probably better that she didn't.

Suddenly, something wet landed in her palm. She felt it and let out a small cry of surprise.

"Oh!" She exclaimed. She said it rather softly but Kenshin still heard it and he looked confused.

"Oro?" He asked.

Kaoru smiled and held out her hand. "I though I caught a raindrop."

"Ah." Kenshin returned the smile. "Come inside anyway, Kaoru-dono. We may get rain after all."

Together, they ran into the shed, closing the door behind them. It was a small area but still big enough to hold both of them. Kaoru found herself standing next to Kenshin, looking out the single window that led to the outside world. The skies still looked lifeless and dry.

And suddenly, both had the urge to do something unusual tonight. Unusual and wonderful. It was hard to say who thought of this first but it was obvious both wanted it.

Kaoru undid her ribbon and let her hair fall to her shoulders. "You know, it's even quieter here."

"Hai." Kenshin wrapped an arm around her. "You feel cold."

Kaoru shivered. "I am cold. But I…"

She was cut short as Kenshin's lips found their way towards her. The kiss was an unexpected but wonderful surprise. She returned it, even forcing her tongue down his throat. A breeze wafted through the open window and Kaoru felt herself slowly pulling away from Kenshin.

"Kenshin, I love you." She whispered. It had come so suddenly that she didn't what she said till it was too late. "Gomen, but I do."

"I know." Was his response. It was hard to tell whether he was happy with that response or not thanks to the darkness.

"I want to prove that I love you."

Slowly, she began to slip out of her kimono. The cold wind from outside hit her bare skin and she shivered. Across from her, she saw Kenshin carefully undressing himself. His chest was heaving up and down.

"I want to prove that I love you." She said again. "I don't know any other way to do it."

Kenshin nodded. "I know."

Then they kissed again and together they went down on the ground. Kenshin began leaving kisses all over her; her face, her neck, her breasts, her stomach, everywhere. She felt his lips brush down her body, causing her to giggle because she was ticklish. Kenshin's cock had also made its way towards the space between her thighs.

"Kaoru-dono." He whispered, wrapping his arms around her. He buried his face into her breasts and mumbled something unintelligible. Kaoru was too busy trying not to scream in delight.

"Kenshin…" She managed to get out. But nothing else followed. The rurouni soon placed his lips on top of her chest and began to form a line of kisses down to her navel. He left behind a trail of saliva while he was creating this line. She began running her fingers through his orange hair.

"Oh…"

He groped her and she moaned.

"Oh, Kenshin." She said in a breathless tone. Sweat began pouring down her face and chest.

Her thighs aching, she moved up an inch closer. Kenshin's crotch felt warm and wet against her legs. The bottoms of her feet were soaked with perspiration. It was funny how they hadn't done anything for such a long time yet suddenly they were both sweating.

She could feel something moving inside of her. It was squeezing its way through.

"Kenshin!" She gasped. "Kenshin, that…"

Then it stopped halfway through.

"Gomen, Kaoru-dono." Kenshin apologized. He was slowly pulling himself off. "I didn't mean to hurt you."

"Iie, don't stop!"

"Oro?" Kenshin's wet crotch landed right on top of her stomach. Kaoru felt like giggling.

"Don't stop." She whispered, her hands grabbing his bare buttocks. "I…I like this."

Something pushed inside of her, firing with the force of a gunshot. It ran up inside of her and she squealed. Then it happened again, leaving a bit of her thighs sticky. Sweat was mixing itself with Kenshin's saliva, which was drying on her breasts. Her hands grabbed his shoulders and pulled him closer. He groped her again.

She pulled her feet up and wrapped her legs around Kenshin's like a monkey. Her nails dug into his rear end and she began kissing him all over his body. The something that pushed into her once was pushing again. It shot through her again but this time, it was less painful. This kept on going for another minute or so.

Then something began rapping against the roof and walls of the shed. For the fear that someone was around them, Kaoru gasped and opened her eyes, turning towards the open window. Kenshin noticed this.

"Kaoru-dono?"

Suddenly, something cold fell down on her shoulder. It was small but she could still feel it. She carefully pushed Kenshin off of her and sat up.

"Gomen." She apologized. "But we should stop. It's…it's…"

Kenshin only nodded. "You shouldn't explain yourself, that you should not."

Kaoru gulped, picking her ribbon off the floor. "H…Hai."

"I love you, Kaoru-dono." He said truthfully.

"I love you too, Kenshin." She gulped. The pain had been wonderful and she wanted to go through it all over again. But she wanted to end it for now. It was fun but it had to come to an end. Slowly, Kenshin pulled himself off of her and she sat up. Some noise was coming from outside and something was tapping against the roof.

Kaoru wrapped herself back into her clothes and stared out the window. "Kenshin, it's raining. It's finally raining."

Kenshin could only smile in response.
