Rurouni Kenshin Fan Fiction ❯ Innocent (Sleep) Talk ❯ Innocent (Sleep) Talk ( One-Shot )
It's the best I could do in one lunchtime.
I don't own Rurouni Kenshin, but I wouldn't mind him in a box for Christmas *hint hint*
My unworthy fingers touch your face. Your ebony hair reminds me of deep water at night, and when I sweep it away with all the care I can, I think of the waves along the edge of the water. Your features still hold their determined look when you sleep. I don't think that will ever change. Your beauty, is not only superficial, but within you too. I love it when you show that beauty to the world, Kaoru.
Your skin is soft, but mine is rough for wielding a sword for too long. You breathe steadily, and without fear that in the night everyone will come to the end of their lives in a pool of blood. That was my concern when I was your age, but then times have changed. And people have changed. I wasn't looking for a home, I wasn't looking for another to clean my dirty soul, and yet despite that I found you.
Now, I could walk forever and ever, and not tire, so long as I took every step moving closer to your loving heart, but if you ever turned away, my bones would turn to dust. I can't tell you how I feel, I can't voice it and I can't show it, but I think you know that by now.
Even though a persons life is short, when it is shared with another kindred spirit, it makes every moment worthwhile. To be savoured and enjoyed and this somehow stretches time. In each day that I spend here at the dojo, in peace and normality, being myself, I feel as though time pivots around us.
Sometimes when I am thinking to myself, usually when I'm doing the laundry, or cooking, or preparing the bath and you look at me I could almost burst with the incoherent words that I know to describe it all.
Sometimes you sleep talk. They say the speak of dreamers is always the truest, you can't lie. I usually come in then and listen, but I don't converse or ask questions because I know already how it would go.
"Miss Kaoru, do you love me?"
And you would reply, "With all my heart Kenshin."
In the past, I've dreamt of many possible futures. You're there, and I'm there and wherever we may be, we are together. I hope dreams come true, Kaoru, I really do.
