Never for the public…
Chapter 2

This story has not been beta'd.

Summary: Kaoru's suffered a traumatic experience resulting in anxiety attacks. How does Kenshin plan to cure her? This story is based on the manga and anime up to the end of the Kyoto Arc, and ignores the Jinchuu Arc. However, sometime before this story, Kenshin does confide his past to his friends (same roundtable as in manga, different reasons irrelevant to this story)…

Note: The Japanese language is highly flexible and very beautiful. Although I do love mixing Japanese with English to try to keep the story true, I believe there is a limit which can severely decrease a story's enjoyment factor. I decided to ignore Kenshin's changes between his use of “sessha” versus “ore,” although I felt it necessary to keep “de gozaru.” Nevertheless, this story does contain MANY Japanese phrases. I've included a glossary at the end for reference. I apologize to those whom may not enjoy this story due to the intricate language mix.

WARNING!!! - This story does contain a graphic rape scene (end of Chapter 1), and an almost equally graphic gore scene (beginning of Chapter 2), beyond the normal, multiple lemon scenes. You have been warned.

Kenshin crouched over Kaoru's bloodily naked body. Saito and Sanosuke observed him surprised as Kenshin methodically checked her for injuries other than the multiple cuts and bruises evident all over her prone form.

“Multiple shallow lacerations, most of them clotted preventing blood loss, no external injuries, no broken bones, no signs of internal damage other than rape,” Kenshin reported stiffly, standing up to look at Sanosuke and Saito. Saito looked on pleased to see Battousai still in full control. Kenshin shook off his kimono and pulled it free from his hakama. He grabbed up Kaoru's hair ribbon from the ground and proceeded to gently wrap her up, pulling her arms through the sleeves and using the ribbon as a belt.

“Sano, come here please,” Sanosuke got down on one knee near them.

“She needs to stay warm, and I have unfinished business. Please hold her,” Kenshin motioned for Sanosuke to switch places with him.

“Kenshin, we should get Jou-chan to the doctor…”

“We will, but not yet. She's unconscious so she won't feel any pain right now, and this won't take long,” Kenshin said as he delicately handed Kaoru to Sanosuke, whom nestled her against his chest. Sanosuke looked on hesitantly. Kenshin removed his sakabatou and placed it on the floor beside Kaoru.

“Battousai.” Kenshin looked up at a happily smirking Saito.

“I can't help but notice you didn't finish off your half of this lot… Are you planning on finally breaking that stupid “no killing” vow of yours?” Dark glee flooded Kenshin's eyes, reflecting in their glowing amber hue.

“No,” Kenshin lipped silently to Saito, rising and turning ever so slowly around to face Mauvais. Fear flashed briefly in Mauvais eyes, before insane satisfaction resumed. Kenshin lazily stalked his latest nightmare.

“How many of you violated her?” Kenshin asked softly, painful doom lurking in his deep tones. Mauvais beamed victoriously. Kenshin vanished, only to reappear slamming Mauvais by his neck up against the wall.

“You are the only one with blood on your phallus,” Kenshin continued too calmly.

“How observant you are, Battousai,” Mauvais smiled chokingly, “Unfortunately, you found us much sooner than expected, but I must say on your behalf, she tasted wonderful.”

Mauvais laughed in Kenshin's face, giving Kenshin a strong whiff of Kaoru's unique scent. The amber glow in Kenshin's eyes intensified to gold, raging bloodlust overriding logic. Kenshin raised up Mauvais higher in the chokehold, then turned threw him mercilessly to the ground. Mauvais slammed head-first on the floor, instantly knocked out. Kenshin looked around at all of the unconscious bodies, unseeing through the blinding red flashing unchecked in his mind. He chuckled evilly, then grabbed the bunch of rope off the dais which had been intended for Kaoru.

Kenshin dragged the sixteen still-living, passed-out bodies and lined them up kneeling against one wall. He started at one end of the line and swiftly tied up the first's man's hands behind his back, then his ankles, finishing off with tying a binding piece connecting the hands and ankles knots. Moving to the second man, he spoke without looking up…

“Saito, assist me,” Kenshin commanded.

“Why the hell would I do that, Battousai?” Saito snapped and spat out disgustedly. Kenshin turned to him with a calculating smirk.

“Because I'm not the only hitokiri with a woman…” Kenshin's eyes narrowed wickedly, “… by the way, how is Tokio?” Kenshin smiled satisfied as his low-blow resulted with an instant, irate katana cutting his throat. Saito looked down at him with eyes thirsting for blood.

“You DARE to threaten me, KISAMA?!” Saito ground out, mouth-watering at the trickle of Kenshin's blood his blade drew.

“Me, threaten?” Kenshin bemusedly quirked up an eyebrow. “No Saito, not I, however, I can't speak for these bastards which you might want to arrest… once I'm done with them, that is…” Kenshin pointedly looked at the row of naked bodies, then back up to Saito.

“Che… I had no idea you were so devious-minded, Battousai,” Saito said, shaking the blood off his sword before re-sheathing. He grabbed half of the rope and started at the other end of the line, tying up the men in the same manner. When they finished, Saito leaned against the wall beside the window, waiting to see exactly what the Battousai had in mind for punishment. Sanosuke watched horrified as Kenshin's eyes fell on a sheathed katana on the ground. Kenshin glided gracefully towards the weapon. He bent down and picked up the sword, unsheathing it without hesitation. He expertly twirled it in his hand, his own bloodlust fully enjoying the old but familiar feel of a double-edged, sharp blade slicing easily through air. Mauvais regained consciousness to watch Battousai petrified, his face paling in wide-eyed terror.

“Kenshin! NO!” Sanosuke yelled panicked. Kenshin's smile disappeared and he sheathed the sword. He looked Sanosuke in the eyes.

“Daijoubu, my friend,” Kenshin whispered, but Sanosuke disbelievingly clutched Kaoru tighter to himself. Kenshin sighed and shook his head, far too used to people's disbelief of anything he said as Battousai. He looked around and found the dagger which had been used to cut Kaoru. Settling the katana in his belt, he gripped the dagger in his right hand. Mauvais slowly backed up on his hands on the ground as the hitokiri stealthily approached him.

The most dangerous man alive, the infamously undefeated Hitokiri Battousai, leveled his deadly glare on Mauvais.

“What's wrong, Mauvais? I thought you craved death by my blade?” Kenshin smoothly purred, flashing out of sight to reappear behind Mauvais. He brutally kicked Mauvais in his side, sending him flying across the room to the other side, facing the row of his surviving, rope-bound lackeys. Mauvais laughed, coughing up blood. He wiped the blood and observed the Battousai thirty-feet away from him

“So much for your vow of never killing again, eh, Battousai?” Mauvais managed to stand up shakily. He gasped in shock as he suddenly found himself eye-to-eye with death. Kenshin smiled sanguinely.

“Poor Mauvais, whoever said I was going to kill you?” Kenshin punched Mauvais in the gut doubling him over, and followed up with a quick knee to the side of his head. Mauvais landed on his knees, trying to see past the stars filling his vision.

“Everyone in the country knows me as the Battousai, but did you know I had to go through the normal war-training when I was assigned to Kyoto?” Kenshin walked around his prey in circles, wholly intent on enjoying this punishment. “For the first year of my assignment, I was put through rigorous field-training in the duties of a hitokiri… ALL of the duties of a hitokiri.”

“Che, I don't know what you're talking about,” Mauvais spat out. Kenshin smiled as he continued his predatory circling.

“A hitokiri's primary duty is assassination, but there were secondary duties as well… battle medic… bodyguard... spy… information gatherer…” Mauvais snapped up to stare in horror at Kenshin on that last mention. Kenshin smirked demonically. Mauvais recovered himself.

“What would you know about torture?! All you ever did was mass slaughter!”

“Oh? So you're saying you know what my day-to-day life was like before the Boshin War in 1868? I thought you knew everything about me, Mauvais… after all, I joined the Ishin Shishi when I was thirteen,” Sanosuke gasped at this new piece of history about his best friend.

“I didn't know you possessed dishonesty, Battousai! Everyone knows you joined the war at age fourteen!” Mauvais spat out. Kenshin chuckled.

“My birthday is in late June, and I joined the war quite a few months before then. However, I'm a bit too preoccupied at the moment to give you a proper history lesson.”

Kenshin quickly crouched imposingly in front of Mauvais, loosely draping his hands on his knees and leaned conversationally to Mauvais' ear. “Mauvais, you're expecting Tenchuu from me, but you will not get it the way you desire. I will exact Tenchuu on you, but in MY own way…” When Kenshin leaned back, Mauvais, found himself staring into brightly glinting, amethyst eyes as Battousai slightly receded behind Kenshin's consciousness. Mauvais laughed haughtily.

“What the hell can you do to me in your pathetically gutless rurouni form, Battousai? Even Saito Hajime won't give you the time of day in this spineless form.” Mauvais spiritedly indulged. Kenshin smiled menacingly.

“You weren't listening, Mauvais.” Kenshin stood up, towering over Mauvais prone figure. “Let me help your feebleminded brain put the pieces together. I didn't become the Battousai until I was fourteen… but for the year before that…” True horror engulfed Mauvais eyes as Kenshin dead-ended his statement. Kenshin stared lovingly at the dagger in his hand, then flicked his eyes to Mauvais.

“I want revenge, Mauvais, and now, I will exact Tenchuu on you…”

Sanosuke stared down in repulsion at the bloody man groaning in pain. The katana sticking up from his barely attached testicles was embedded deeply into the floor from Kenshin's favorite Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu, Ryu Tsui Sen attack. Even Saito was shocked at the hate-filled crimson carnage, staring at the piece of permanently detached muscle lying between Mauvais' legs. During the hour-long, drawn-out torture, the sixteen men along the wall had all eventually awoken to Mauvais' tortured screams. They trembled in fear as the flame-haired man leaned down to grab another katana off the ground. Kenshin gracefully stalked towards them. He only got to within ten feet when three-quarters of the mens' bladders let go, the floor beneath their knees soaking in their urine. Kenshin frowned disgustingly, and threw the katana onto the ground in front of them. He walked back over to Mauvais and crouched down. Grabbing Mauvais' hair, he pulled Mauvais up to a sitting position so that he was eye-to-eye, ignoring the agonized shriek of the mostly castrated man.

“Tenchuu is delivered,” Kenshin announced solidly, “If you, or anyone else, EVER so much as LOOKS at a hair on Kaoru, I promise an eternal, living hell FAR worse than the one you're about to endure.” Kenshin stood up, and jerked savagely on Mauvais' head. Mauvais gave another blood-curdling scream before passing blissfully into unconsciousness, his body now wholly separated from the katana… and his manlihood. Kenshin dropped his trash to the ground. He bent down to wipe his bloodstained hands on Mauvais' kimono. He then walked over to Sanosuke and Kaoru and picked up his sakabatou. Kenshin attached it to his waist, and turned to go outside.

“Uh, Kenshin, aren't you forgetting something?” Sanosuke asked tentatively, still clutching Kaoru. Kenshin held up his dry, blood-covered hands in answer and continued outside to wash them. Saito smirked.

“Yareyare, I didn't think he still had it in him … nicely done, Himura Battousai,” Saito said softly, throwing down his cigarette and stepping on it, “I'll call in my squad to handle the rest.” Saito turned to leave, passing Kenshin on his way back in. The two feared hitokiri dangerously stared each other down with animosity, the tension in the air instantly palpable. Sanosuke tensed as both men grabbed their sword hilts, murderous electricity seemingly arcing between their eyes. Then Saito smirked and companionably smacked his hand grazing Kenshin's shoulder, leaving without another word.

“I still say you two are like oil and water,” Sanosuke said right behind Kenshin, Kaoru in his arms. Kenshin smiled and carefully took Kaoru. “No, not like oil and water… unfortunately, more like two sides of the same coin… let's get Kaoru to Dr. Gensai, Sano.” They walked outside and started running top-speed towards town.

“Uh Kenshin…” Sanosuke sheepishly rubbed his head. Kenshin was studiously observing Kaoru as they flew along the dirt road.

“Hai, Sano?”

“You'd warn me before you ever get THAT pissed off, right?” Sanosuke joked cheekily. Kenshin laughed darkly.

“You have nothing to ever worry about my friend.”

“Mou, you are one freaking scary-ass bastard, Kenshin! Besides that, you were only THIRTEEN when you entered the war?!!!” Sanosuke asked incredulously.

“Let's not talk about it,” Kenshin simpered.

“One more question… what ELSE did you learn in your hitokiri training?” Kenshin quirked an eyebrow and smirked evilly at his friend.

“Do you REALLY want to know?” Kenshin goaded sinisterly. Sanosuke's eyes widened and he gulped audibly.

“Uuuuuh, NO! No, forget I asked!” Sanosuke chuckled amiably. Kenshin smiled at his joviality.
