Chapter 7: The light and the dark

Tadadadadah!!!!!! Well, here's the 7th chapter of our story. Sorry guys for the delay. Believe me, I really am. I've been trying my best to upload this for the past week but I just can't seem to find the time. Again… I'm sorry. To xime-chan… this is for you, hope you like this and please don't send battousai after me… he's already out in this part, he might just come out of my computer and come after my head. (Yuki-chan gingerly touches her neck) *gulp* I'm too young to die.

*Battousai comes out of the computer brandishing his katana and glares at Yuki-chan: get on with the story!!!!

Yuki-chan: Hey I'm the author here! You get back in the story!

Battousai points the katana in Yuki-chan's direction: Just get on with the story… I'm getting impatient.

Yuki-chan glares back: Get back in the story or I'll erase you in my plot and let Saitoh have Kaoru! (Yuki-chan shudders at the thought of doing just that)

Battousai's eyes widen: You are not serious.

Yuki-chan smirks

Battousai grumbled and heads back in the computer: Alright, alright, you win… just don't give my Kaoru to that jerk.

Yuki-chan sighs in relief and grins triumphantly

Kaoru: You are bad Yuki-chan

Yuki-chan: Thank You.

Kaoru: Were you serious in giving me to Saitoh?

Yuki-chan: ammm… a bit?

Kaoru flares up and gives Yuki-chan a taste of the Kamiya Kasshin style.: MOU!!!!

Yuki-chan: Ororororororororo… and… on… with… da… stowy…… itai…

Feh! As if!!!

Grrr…

Get lost rurouni.

Iie. You get out de gozaru!

Then tell me, why do you keep on hurting her?

Sigh. Sessha knows that.

Then why do you persist on hurting her?! Do you know how much I wanted to kill you everytime I see her eyes fill with tears?!

Then quit yapping rurouni! `Cause there's no way in hell am I going to let you hurt her ever again.

I may be a complete idiot when it comes to Kaoru-dono, but I definitely know that they're scared of you! All of them are!

Let them deal with it!

You idiot!!! Kaoru-dono needs to be comforted after what had happened… not to scare the life out of her.

Shut up and get out of my head rurouni!!!!!

Battousai rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance. Just what he needed, a good morning talk with his idiot persona. His amber eyes flashed as he eyed his arms elbow deep in soapsuds.

Laundry. He was doing laundry?! What the hell was he doing laundry?!!!!

"Aaargh!!" Kenshin growled as he swiped his hands clean of the soapsuds. "Chikuso! Stupid rurouni. What the hell do you get with washing the laundry?!"

"Kenshin?"

Battousai stiffened immediately as he heard her voice from behind him.

"Hai? Kaoru?"

"Daijobou ka?"

She was leaning on the porch railing looking at him with those clear sapphire gems.

A huge sweat drop appeared on his head.

"Oro…a eh…hai Kaoru. I'm alright"

Kenshin eyed her critically, she looked even paler than yesterday.

"Shouldn't you be in bed?"

Kaoru blushed a deep shade of red despite her pale countenance.

"Kenshin, if I had stayed in bed for another minute… I swear I'm not going to be able to walk."

Battousai chuckled at that as he helped her to sit down on the porch.

"Stay. I'll get you breakfast." He ordered her before giving her a quick peck on the lips leaving her gaping at his back as he turned towards the kitchen.

*Am I dreaming or what?* Kaoru thought, *That couldn't be Battousai… demo.. Kenshin wouldn't speak to me like that, and Battousai can't be that gentle and caring… can he?*

Kaoru held her head as it began to pound furiously, she groaned. Kenshin was making her headache. Then she stiffened as glimpses of amber flashed in her mind.

*Kami-sama… the Kenshin that came home to us wasn't the Kenshin they all knew so well. They had only seen glimpses of him when he was in battle or when she was threatened. The Kenshin that came home to them was no longer the rurouni… but Battousai.*

Turning to the sound of soft footsteps, she was met with the object of her speculation. *Speak of the devil.* she thought as he stared into his face, hoping to see a sign that she was badly mistaken in her assumption about him.

*Mou! The baka! He's covering his eyes so that I wouldn't be able to see them.*

Battousai forced a smile as he sensed Kaoru's eyes on him as if she were assessing him.

*Why is she looking at me like that?*

"Kenshin no baka!!!!" came the vehement voice

Battousai stared on surprise at the blazing sapphire in front of him. He couldn't resist uttering a mild "Oro?".

*Again, Kami-sama help me. It is amber! This is Battousai she's dealing with… but strangely, he's acting like the rurouni we've all come to love.*

Kaoru watched him as he placed their supposed breakfast, since it was already late in the afternoon, beside her.

*Could it be that Battousai isn't that different from our gentle loving rurouni?*

"Kaoru?" Kenshin asked uncertainly. He was starting to get uneasy with the way Kaoru was staring at him… not that he didn't mind… demo…

Kaoru giggled, *Definitely no difference, ok… so there's a slight difference between the two. How could she have been so stupid as to have thought that they were two completely different people. They're just one and the same, the only problem is that Battousai was an intense version of the other.* at that thought she laughed again.

Kenshin scratched the back of his head in confusion. *What's up with her?*

Kaoru looked at him and grinned devilishly.

*I've already met and known the rurouni for quite some time… I think now's a very good time to finally get to know Battousai even more.*

Despite his cool demeanor, Kenshin sweat dropped as he saw Kaoru smile devilishly.

*Ok. She is up to no good.* he thought nervously

"Kenshin…."

More sweat drops as Kaoru slithered close to him.

"Kaoru, what are…" Kenshin stopped in mid-sentence with Kaoru's breath whisper in his ear.

"Battousai…"

He stared at her for quite some time. Shocked with her words.

*Kuso. She knows.* Battousai cursed in his head

*Ororororororo…..*

Batousai looked at his rurouni counterpart in his head with a major nosebleed.

*What the… oi! Rurouni, get up!*

*Sessha wants… sessha….*

*What the hell are you talking about?!*

*Kaoru…donooooo….*

*Eh?*

Battousai turned to look at Kaoru's direction and it took all of his willpower not to take her again right then and there or to pass out beside the rurouni.

Kaoru was fanning the front of her yukata by tugging at it, giving him a perfectly generous view of her lovely upper… ahem… assets.

Battousai grabbed her wrist, stopping her actions. Eyes flashing dangerously with lust and desire.

"Koishii, I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Kaoru gasped a bit before blinking innocently up at him.

"Doushite? I'm doing anything wrong, besides, it's hot."

Kaoru winced inwardly as Kenshin's grip tightened but still met his eyes. Her own sapphire gaze flashing in challenge.

"You don't know who you're playing with Kaoru." He growled at her

"Oh, I know very well who I'm playing with Battousai, the question is… do you know who I want?" she threw back at him.

"I'm not who you think I am. I'm not the rurouni."

"I know that. I'm not an idiot, Kenshin."

His eyes narrowed at that, "Aren't you afraid of me?"

Kaoru's defiant eyes softened at that.

"Give me one reason why should I be scared of you." She told him softly as she held his scarred cheek in her palm.

"I…I…"

Kaoru leaned forward to touch her forehead to his.

"I'm not scared of you, Battousai. There's no reason for me to. I fell in love with the rurouni but I fell for Battousai as well. You could never hurt me, and I know that you never would. The rurouni and Battousai are one and the same. What ever you did in the past, you did it for what you believed in, and I'll love you no matter what. The past, present and future are three different things.

The past shaped you to the man you are now, the present is here and now for you to decide and the future will be the result of what you do today. Kenshin, I love everything about you and I've learned to accept you as who you really are. Besides, I wouldn't want you in any other way. The light and the dark… the rurouni and all his shadows."

Kenshin grabbed Kaoru's face and kissed her passionately. Pouring all the love he felt for the woman in front of him into that kiss. When he released her, he buried his face in the crook of her neck.

"Arigatou, koishii.. arigatou…"

When Kenshin looked into her eyes, Kaoru saw that his eyes had turned into a beautiful mixture of amber and amethyst. She frowned at that and bopped his head with her fist.

"Oro?"

"Kenshin… rurouni… out!"

"Oro?!?!?! Koishii?!"

*Is she ok?!* Kenshin thought as he stared disbelievingly at his wife to be.

"Kenshin, I want Battousai right now!"

Kenshin blinked confusedly at her order.

"Mou! Kenshin no baka! I want Battousai out so that I'd be able to know him even more!"

"Aa…but I wouldn't be responsible for what happens." Kenshin chuckled before completely relaxing to let his darker half fully emerge.

"Better?" he asked her, voice both dark and soothing. Amber eyes glittering in the soft afternoon light.

Kaoru bubbled in laughter, "Perfect!"

"So Kaoru, just how much do you want to know this side of me?" he drawled

"Mmm…" Kaoru purred ad his hands decided to wander on its own, "I was hoping you'd show me."

Battousai's eyes glittered playfully, "Well then," he surprised her by picking her up and carrying her to her room, enjoying her squeal of delight. "I guess I'd better not disappoint you."

"Kenshin…!" Kaoru giggled as he nuzzled her neck before shutting the door to her room.

Whoooooeeeee!!!!!! Yey! All done! Two more chapters to go!!!!!!!!!! Advanced warning, the next chapter is pure lemon. If you're not into it, I suggest you skip it and move directly to chapter 9.
