Yumi smiled her red lips pulling back to reveal long glistening white fangs. She leaned forwards placing her hand on the screen her face quickly softening. Resting her head against it she let her emotions shine through her eyes before breathing out his name.

The one word holding all her longing, desire, sorrow, pain and loneliness she had stored away over the years. A soft shift in the air let her know she was no longer alone. Still keeping her head bent and hand on the screen she spoke.

"Hai Soujiro?"

"They have found the book Lady Yumi."

"But?" she prompted as she pulled away from the screen and turned around to face the young boy.

"It is being guarded by a very powerful monk. We are having some difficulty getting through the barrier he's erected."

The young woman stood up her robes swishing softly from the sudden movement. She stepped forwards and tilted her head to the side a cruel smile on her red lips.

"Then we'll just have to break it."

Soujiro watched a his Lady walked towards the far wall and placed her hand upon it a soft red glow coming from her palm. The wall seemed to fade away revealing a stairwell leading down. She stepped through and with out having to be told he followed after her the door disappearing like it had never been there.

They walked down the stairs the air around them growing warmer by the second until it was almost unbearable. They walked down a short stone hallway before entering a small room. The center holding a large lava pit a sword levitating above it glowing a sickening blood red.

He glanced away and looked over to see Lady Yumi standing next to a large bookcase. Her hands skimmed over the books before landing on the one she had been searching for. Smiling she walked over towards a wooden table littered with bottles and jars filled with different herbs, powders and animal parts.

He stood there his brown eyes watching every move she made every now and then his eyes would dart towards the sword hovering a few feet away.

"I think its time we got a little help with this task."

She flipped through the pages stopping halfway through the book. Her fingers skimmed over it before she began to grab different jars and bottles emptying the contents in a small cauldron.

She smiled when the steam turned a dark red blue color and started to spark. Picking up the cauldron she made her way towards the stand in the center of the room. A circle was painted on the floor with different designs on it and a large stand with a black metal dish lay in the middle.

He watched her poor the contents inside the dish before digging in her sleeve and puling out a small pouch. She walked around the circle sprinkling whatever was inside around. Going back to the middle she closed her eyes and said a few words.

He took a slight step back when the outside circle ignited in blue green flames. Each section of the circle lit up before a huge gust of wind came and whirled it away into the dish.

Yumi spoke a couple words and the ground began to shake causing the stand to fall over the liquid goo spilling out onto the circle seeping through the cracks. The shaking stopped and an eerie calm settled over the place. She stood there arms crossed waiting.

Soujiro stood there a little surprised when the figure of a man appeared before them. The ghostly figure slowly taking solid form as it turned towards Lady Yumi. The man had a white clothe covering his eyes and a golden staff in his hand with a weird third eye painted on it.

"You called for me Lady Yumi."

"Yes, it would seem there is someone standing in our way. I would like you to remove them, permanently."

"Hai."

He made a small bow before straightening up and moving towards the young boy.

"Welcome back!" Soujiro said a smile on his face

The other only nodded in greeting before the two disappeared leaving the young woman alone. Her eyes shifting to the sword a few feet away.

"Shishio-sama…"

Misao sat there unable to comprehend what she was seeing. It could not be true; she would not believe something like that. She whirled around her large jade eyes filled with confusion and doubt.

"It's not true right Kaoru? Right?!"

"I-I'm-I don't know Misao."

The younger girl glanced up at her friend noticing how her eyes no longer held there sparkle of life instead they seemed a little dull. She licked her dry lips and stood up taking a shaky breath before setting her face in determination.

"Well I'm not going to just sit around here wondering. I'm going to get some answers dam it!"

Kaoru watched the younger girl storm out of the room grabbing her coat on the way out, the door slamming behind her. She glanced once more at the screen before letting her anger take over.

"Kenshin no baka!" she yelled to the empty room.

Kenshin tilted his head to the side his violet eyes clouded in confusion. He could have sworn he just heard Kaoru's voice a few seconds ago yelling at him. He shook it off and focused back on what he was doing.

He came back just in time to dodge the attack sent at him and move into one of his own. The other man just grinned and moved forwards and knocked him down in one move. Dazed violet eyes opened up to see dark green ones laughing down at him. He growled and sat up a small moan escaping his lips when he did.

"Hn, you've been letting yourself slip baka deshi."

Kenshin only glared at the older man his violet eyes flickering to amber before settling back on violet. He frowned and took his stance again waiting for the next round too begin. He was going to be very sore when this training was over with, he could practically hear Hiko laughing at him.

"After all these centuries you haven't learned anything baka deshi."

Kenshin only growled at the older man his amber eyes returning once more.

"Leave."

"Oro?"

Kenshin blinked at the older man who was now sitting down sipping some sake.

"Leave and do not come back until you have learned something."

"Nani? Master-"

But the older man was already turned away ignoring him. Sighing Kenshin replaced his sword and walked out the night breeze blowing over him making his red mane dance like flames. He glanced once more at the old building before slipping back into the shadows and heading back to headquarters.

`I don't understand that man sometimes. What does he mean when I've learned something? What could I not already know?'

He was broken from his thoughts when he heard his name being called again. His brow furrowed together in worry when he realized it was Kaoru. She seemed worried enough to have her thoughts reach him.

Taking a quick detour he made his way towards her place briefly wondering how it was possible he could hear her.

Misao growled her eyes spitting fire as she stormed through the office a few people moving out of her way upon seeing the mood she was in. She rounded the corner heading for the door that lead to Division A when she ran into someone.

"Watch where you're going!" she yelled out

"Hey you ran into me weasel girl."

Angry Jade met with amused chocolate.

"I don't have time for you Rooster head."

"Listen just because you're pmsing doesn't mean you can take it out on me!"

Jade eyes narrowed her fingers inching towards the small pouch holding her kunai.

"What'd you just say?"

He was about to open up his mouth and tell her when a calm voice interrupted them. He glanced over her shoulder to see Shinamori standing behind them. His attention was brought back towards the girl before him when he heard her snarl and felt her ki flare up dangerously.

"Well I gotta go, see ya." He said before quickly disappearing around the corner

Aoshi kept his gaze on the young woman before him. He could feel her ki nipping at him and anger was the most prominent.

"Misao."

It was said just so to make it a question and demand all at once. It pissed her off and she whirled around with out hesitation and flung her kunai at him. She growled in anger when all they were stuck in was the wall. Her target was standing a few feet to her left.

"You jerk!" she yelled before throwing another set at him

He dodged the weapons and came up behind her grabbing her, one arm sliding around her waist while the other held her hands in place. She struggled for a few moments her legs kicking out and hitting him twice.

He winced once before picking her up and carrying her back to his office. She was still angry but was not moving around as much.

"Misao what is wrong?"

She growled and struggled again before giving up focusing on trying to regain her calm. She took a few deep breathes feeling she was more able to talk to him then she was before.

He could feel her calming down somewhat but anger was still radiating off of her along with a few other emotions he wasn't sure how to describe since the anger was block them. He loosened his hold but did not take his arms away from her waist.

"How could you?"

" How could I what?"

She whirled around her jade eyes flashing anger and hurt. That surprised him causing a sharp pain in his chest. He did not wish to hurt her but it would seem some how he did.

"You are such a jerk! How could you not tell me? I trusted you! I thought we were friends but you obviously don't think so. I can't believe it, I am such an idiot for trusting something like you."

He stood there listening to her words trying to understand what she was talking about. It wasn't until she said `something like you' that he knew she had found out but instead of hurting like it should have, it felt like a weight had been lifted from him.

"Misao."

The young girl stilled in his arms and her breathing began to pick up. She wasn't sure but that didn't sound like a angry or hurt voice. It sounded like something else something more dangerous and it sent a shiver down her spine.

"Look at me."

Slowly she lifted her head up her eyes meeting with his. He could read the emotions in them now. Hurt, distrust, anger, confusion and something else was swirling around in their depths. He lifted her chin up so that her face was only a few centimeters away from his.

"Gomen nasai Misao, for not telling you. I was afraid you-"

He was cut off when she lunged forwards and wrapped her slender arms around his neck burying her face into his shoulder.

"Aoshi no baka." Came the muffled reply

He smiled down at her and hugged her resting his head atop hers. He wasn't sure but for some reason he felt happier than he ever had all because of the small human in his arms. He felt her shit away from his shoulder her warm breath fanning against his skin.

"Don't you trust me?" she asked softly

"Creatures such as ourselves are not aloud to trust or love." He whispered the last part squeezing her tightly to him

She felt her heart break at that.

`No wonder he's so distant. Misao you idiot you just kept pushing him.'

She felt the tears spill from her eyes and fall down her cheek. They were tears for him and all his pain and loneliness and for she wanted but he could not give.

"I'm so sorry." Came the whisper

He sighed and pulled her closer trying to ease her pain that he seemed to have caused once again.

"However I cannot help but trust and love you." He whispered brushing his lips against the nape of her neck his fingers splaying across her hips.

"Nani?" came the shaky question

She lifted her head up to look at him her jade eyes question him. His whole face softened as he smiled gently down at her. Not wishing to miss the chance to taste her he leaned forwards closing the distant between them capturing her lips in a chaste kiss that soon turned deeper when she willfully opened her mouth to him.

A/N: yeah thank you for those wonderful reviews * hugs reviewers* I'm so happy you guys like my fic. I was kinda worried it would be good. But you liked it! * huge grin* well this chapter was a little angsty but not much it was also mushy. I realized even though this is mainly a Saitou fic I just couldn't resist throwing in a little Aoshi/Misao and Kenshin/Kaoru. Well enjoy and remember RXR! ^__^
