Kaoru watched the lights as they flickered over Kenshin's profile, he seemed to be deep in thought now his violet eyes staring off into the distance. Turning away, she turned her head to stare out the window, the scenery passing by in rapid blurs of gray and green, a few patches of color filtering through every now and then.
Taking the moment of silence given to her, she let her mind sort out all the things that had happened to her, from the time she joined the agency to when she first met Kenshin to the last few hours when she learned more about him than she had thought.
Her first reaction was how could he lie to her? How could he keep this a secret from her, she was supposed to be his friend. She sighed knowing this was not the title she wanted, but knew that it was probably all she would ever get from someone like Kenshin.
Some one who shut themselves away from the world, even if he joked around and still hung out with them. He would always hang back away from the rest of them, like he did not deserve to be here with them.
She leaned her head against the cool glass, letting it sooth her and the on coming headache. Drifting back to her thoughts she tried to remember everything she could about that odd dream she had when she awoke at Kenshin's.
The images seemed jumbled with things from her memory and it was hard to distinguish between the two. Did she even dream it in the first place? She had to that image of the young woman with haunting brown eyes and inky black hair surrounding a face that mirrored her own. Moreover, who was that young boy with the white hair? Obviously, he was that girl's younger brother but who were they and why did she call Kenshin anata?
She was lost in her own thoughts that she forgot about Kenshin. The violet -eyed young man was now peering at her from the corner of his eye, a worried look crossing over his face. Turning his attention back towards the road, he turned down to the airport. They had a few minutes to meet up with Sano and head towards the mountains.
Making a quick right turn, he got off on the ramp and coasted into the airport coming to a halt at one of the back hangers. When Kaoru did not look up, he leaned over and brushed his hand across her arm startling her out of her daze.
"We're here."
He watched a faint blush wash over her face before she opened the door and climbed out. Stepping out a few seconds later, he watched as she stretched and popped her back, catching a glimpse of creamy alabaster skin every time she lifted her arms. His eyes followed her movements before darting quickly to their left.
"Sano."
"Ready?" Asked the taller man
The two nodded and he slipped back into the shadows not waiting to see if the others would follow or not. Climbing into the cockpit, he started up the engines his eyes noting that Kenshin took the seat next to him leaving Kaoru in the back. Arching an eyebrow at the red head, he waited for a response.
"Later."
Sano only shrugged before slipping on the headphones and turned around to motion to Kaoru. She was already buckled in her gaze staring out the window with a thoughtful look on her face. Worried but not wanting to interfere he pulled the brakes and taxied the plane out of the hanger and onto the runway.

Soujiro waited patiently outside the small inn for his traveling companion to come back, his eyes keeping track of everyone around them. They had arrived at their destination only the shrine was not where it was said to be. Either their information was wrong, which was not possible or it was hidden. In which case it was going to be harder to get to then he thought.
A noise to his right made him glance sideways but no one was there. Blinking confused he only looked down when a tug on his sleeve brought it to his attention. A small child around seven was looking up at him with large blue eyes, face dirty and clothes held together by threads.
"Would you like a guide mister?" came the timid voice
Soujiro smiled down at the young child before shaking his head no. The child's face fell before lighting up again.
"Are you sure I know where everything is in this city and mountains. I can guide you anywhere."
He opened his mouth to decline once more when another voice broke through.
"Would you know of a temple in the mountains?"
Soujiro peered over his shoulder to see his companion standing behind him. The young child glanced over at him before grinning and nodding his head.
"Oh yes I know of all the temples in the mountains."
"Very well."
The small child grinned before dashing away down the ally way. Soujiro moved to go after him but was stopped by a golden staff, glancing up he met with the other's blank face.
"He will be back."
Sure enough, the child was back carrying a small pack, smiling the child turned towards them before motioning with their hands to follow them.
"What's you name?" Soujiro asked
"Chiro."
That said the young boy began to walk towards the mountains once more sure that his customers would be following him.

Misao fidgeted as they made their way up the steep incline, they had arrived a few hours ago having left right after their orders were given. She was following Aoshi up the mountain towards the shrine they had been told about by the local contact.
The cold wind was steadily increasing the higher up they got along with the air growing increasingly thin. She was getting slightly dizzy but it seemed that her partner was fine; guess being a vampire had its advantages. Flipping up her collar, she pulled it closer to her neck hoping to shield some of the blistering wind.
"How much further?" she shouted over the howling wind
"Not much." Came the monotone reply
Rolling her head she quickened her pace to keep up with his longer strides, this was going to be a pain in the ass. Nevertheless at least she was with her Aoshi and that was some comfort, not much but still a comfort nonetheless.
They stopped at a small cave; white seals were hanging on the outside along with a few wards. She glanced towards her quiet partner and noticed he seemed to be waiting for something. Looking at the seals and wards, she noticed that he would not be able to pass through them. Pursing her lips, she walked towards the mouth and stopped where she pealed off the two side wards. She could feel the air shift around them like something had just been broken or let free.
"Ready?" she asked over her shoulder
With out giving a reply he walked into the cave, his form being swallowed up by the darkness. Misao quickly chased after him stopping a few inches from his side when she finally caught up to him. Glancing around she noticed that the light stopped a few meters in, peering around she tried to find something that would light the path for them.
"Do not bother."
"But we won't be able to see the way."
She felt a large cool hand wrap around her own before tugging her forward. Startled she gasped before regain her balance. A little confused she turned her eyes towards him wondering how they would be able to see.
"I have better vision than most."
Her mouth formed a small `o' as it dawned on her what he meant. She had forgotten about that. Scooting closer to him, she wrapped her other arm around the one holding her hand and let him lead her into the cave.
Ice blue eyes glanced down at the young girl clutching on to his arm and hand so trustingly. He felt that strange pull in his chest again and for a moment did nothing about it. Shaking his head he turned his eyes away from the distracting creature and continued on with the mission, they had to find the book if it was even here and stop the enemy.
Continuing down the path he stopped as it veered off into two directions. He was not told about this, something was wrong. He could feel it. One of these tunnels was a fake set up to trap them. The question was which one; the holy aura of this place was throwing his senses off balance. Frowning he tried to stretch out his ki only to have it slam back into him throwing him off balance. Who ever it was was still here and they were good.
"Aoshi?"
"We have company."
