Act 1: Kidnapping Kamiya Kaoru

The sun had upsurge having it's rays hit the interior of the room. The shaft of light comes upon her eyes, which was the reason of her sudden rouse from the deep drawn-out sleep. Having that annoying sunbeam, she opened her eyes slowly with her hand trying to avoid the strong daylight away. When she turned side ways and decided to drift off to sleep again, she noticed something was odd about everything.

"Huh?" she hit the deck out of the soft bedstead and was surprised to find herself into an obscure berth. She stirred herself way up and took in the act of searching high and low in the whole location she was in. She started to wonder in that momentum.

"… I'm-alive… with no injuries… why?"

The whole room was restrained in a very western style. Antiquated and obsolete by its lay out. And to surprise her more, she was wearing a very nice and clean... robe. She examined the cloth and realized that someone dressed her while she was unconscious. She clasps her arms to her body as though feeling quite uneasy for the fact that she was wearing a very unusual garment.

"What the? Where am I?" she halted her mouth from articulating more when her eyes quickly caught the window in front of the bed.

She stood out from her slothful position thereupon, she directed towards to the window and lifted it to open. There was a huge balcony outside and to add more, a wide beach to behold with seagulls soaring up to the azure heavens. Come to think of this place she realized that she was more like standing in a huge house which was built in... in... in an ISLAND. Her eyes asunder subsequently thinking of where in places was she is in to. This was getting too weird and uncanny but her skepticism hadn't stop there.

The jamb was very ample and her slender frame flawlessly fitted on it for her to breakout from the bedroom. She walks towards the railing on the point of engaging a quick view over the paradise before her eyes.

`Why am I here? Where am I?' all she could remember was she was all-mournful after Kenshin told about his past, about his late wife. She couldn't take the intense feeling of sorrow and grief that made her to succor her feelings by fleeing away to the jam-packed forest. Back to those woodlands, she recalls her self being taken by a lanky man. He captured her brutally and she did all her best to escape. But the stranger was too strong she couldn't help but to fall into the smog that was placed at the shawl he was holding to cover her lips from screaming. And the next thing she knew she was sleeping in a comfy bed wearing this robe in her feeble form.

"There's no use of escaping." A voice said somewhere, which really induce her to hurdle off away from her reveries.

She quickly turned her head and saw a man with a strange snowy hair, sitting on a stool facing the panorama ahead. "This is a fortress of nature. The middle of nowhere."

There was silence between the two before she started to oppose on his words. "Tell me." She turned herself a bit to take a fragment glimpse over him, "Why did you not kill me?"

The strange man never took any chance of looking at the stupefied woman. "It's pay back. You're too important for him." for some reason, she noticed his eyes turning narrowed for the moment, "He is the man who killed my sister, his own wife."

She froze in that certain minute she conceives who he was talking about. `He's talking about Tomoe. His sister?' she speculated though she had no time to ruminate all things that started to ring her mind.

"If he loses you, it will be living hell for him. I won't let you go until my goal is achieved." He stated moreover to look ceaselessly. Kaoru was dumbfounded and wordless for that instant and he did notice this shock she was feeling, likewise he continued.

"This is the reason why I brought you here. If you are really important to him, then he will come here soon." His face turned psychopathically all so sudden, "And when he comes, I will kill you in front of him... and let him taste the bitterness that I have tasted." His tone was getting more of those manslayers and Kaoru couldn't help but to step back and appear so apprehensive through his assertions.

"After that, I will beat him to death with my fists." He gushed out from his stool and bounded to walk away, "If he doesn't come, then I have no use for you. I'll let you return alive. Stay here for a while."

He left her there all alone and felt her knee just shivered in terror. It was her first time to encounter such a lunatic hit man with those ardent verdant eyes that seems to cause shudders at her spine. For once she realized that she was in trouble and it hurts her to know that there's nothing she could do but to wait and be saved by Kenshin.

"I wonder... what am I to Kenshin." She allowed herself to fall at the soft bed and before long tends her attention to the window frame beside her cot. Those words he just released made her to think who she really is, in Kenshin's life. It alarmed her so much of how clueless was she in asking this question to him. They had been living together for about a year now and still she had no idea if Kenshin was starting to feel any emotions towards her. And more to dire her poor heart when Kenshin had finally professed what was his life before and how he and his Tomoe lived in that era. It was too much for her to think that she didn't realize herself staring at that cerulean skies for hours until nightfall had came.

"Tomoe-san is still in the back of Kenshin's mind as a presence, deep and sad. Just like his scar. She would exchange her life for that position." She was getting too tired in spite of the fact that she couldn't even sleep because of the dilemma she was undergoing. "What should I do? I don't know…." she enclosed her eyes and felt a tear almost about to come out from her eyes. "Tomoe-san, I'm jealous of her." the thought of having Tomoe as a rival was glut for her to take. She was already dead and still a noteworthy opponent to defeat. Furthermore, she was not sure if she could ever trounce over her.

"If I die, will you live on without forgetting me... huh? Kenshin?"

A huge steamship disembarked at the wharf and there, two figures came walking their way in his direction. A dwarfish man with two scars marking his eyes and an opposite gigantic one with this bandana holding up his hair from his forehead, carrying a colossal revolver in his right hand. They seem to look so vile and mischievous with those grins that locking the frame of their mouths.

Enishi give a dirty look upon these two useless human beings and went to stand before them. "What brings you two here?" he asked.

"Boss sent us for some matter to discuss with you." The diminutive chap retorted correspondingly returning him with a sneer. He gyrated to the gigantic man beside him and waited for him to coarse the conversation. "We came here to discuss by reason of business."

Unmannerly, Enishi proceeded with his doubting. "Business? Since when did you two had the chance to transact one?" he counterfeited and it made the two to scorn a frown at him. He could have just laughed by the look at their faces.

"Listen here mister! Pha-ra sent us and whether you like it or not, you have to tell us what's happening with this syndicate you have!" the small one exclaimed abruptly.

He smirked and shook his head, "So... am I supposed to be frightened by reason of Pha-ra ordered you to come and perturb with this operation I'm having here?"

"The main branch received some information about your conference with the Koreans. You might have no knowledge who we are and-" Enishi froze his stare with the enormous sole bluntly. "I know you two. You're Lei's devoted followers, Tai and Chi." He said. "No use of opposing."

"That's right. We admit that it was Lei who sent us here and I'm sorry for lying." Tai, the huge man said gingerly despite of the stupid look in his face.

"Lying might lead you to death. What is it that you really want from me?" he again asked.

Chi almost lost his temper and could nearly desire to strike Enishi. Yet he was confined when his eyes met his excruciating ones. He knew that he wouldn't stand a chance for the fact that this man was also one of his foremen. Endeavoring to oppose him conceivably direct him to his doom.

"Lei ordered us to tell you something." Chi said.

"Tell me what?" Enishi asked.

"The underworld wanted you to return to China as soon as possible." Tai replied.

Enishi held back his breath in astonishment. He never expected that news and it alarmed him so much. "Why is that?"

"There was a problem about trading prohibited weapons to the west and Pha-ra needs you to be there to help out."

He scowled apathetically, "Is it that too important that they even wanted me to come?" the two nodded and it made an answer to his inquisitions. "I have my mission here that is still not completed. I can't leave cause of this sudden report."

"Are you saying that you're doing further negotiation here than bartering illegal weapons?" Chi questioned, his eyes twinkling roguishly.

He had too much of Chi's imprudent manners and bound to shoot a traumatic gaze at him. "It's none of your business you hear me?" he declared sternly on his grave voice. Chi cursed under his breath as his anger summated to the crux. And so he went off leaving, sole Tai to convince the stubborn boss.

"You need to be there. I don't know the reason why you're holding back-but please... think carefully about this. This gathering is very important." He strolls off and hurried to follow the enraged Chi.

"How soon could I state my settlement?" one last question he conceivably ask before Tai departs.

Tai motioned his head and glanced back at Enishi, "You've got a week or so..."

Thereupon, the steamboat left and so the two associates of Lei. He has no idea what's his intention though by the way that Tai looked at him, everything means to be positively consequential.

She was walking lifelessly unhindered unto the veranda, just marching without any idea where to go. Being quiescent in place cause her to feel so afflicted. More to that, she had been left in the lurch by means of this crux about Kenshin and his Tomoe. Though she strives hard just to neglect each heart breaking thoughts, their vision just kept on hunting her dreams and couldn't help but to burst into tears. These might be the only things she had been doing all through days since from that first morning she stirred off from a soft bed. Grieving each passing minute while she was in this manor. She wondered and hoped that she could get out of this morbid island, furthermore be taken away, far-off from that fierce stranger who exemplified himself as Tomoe's brother.

Cause of the deep solitude she was feeling, she closed her eyes. Hearing such peaceful yet tedious sounds circuitously.

It was a very magnificent place to be with all those resplendent nature around and the huge house she was staying at. It was the finest place only if she weren't staying here as a hostage.

She sighed and made to lean her head to the porch and initiated to view the seaside sluggishly. Everything was so serene just hearing the waves splashing towards the huge rocks when unexpectedly, her eyes was instantly snared by a figure which was standing not so far where she was idled.

Kaoru constricted her eyes to see more relevantly and noticed that the certain figure who was practicing sword arts near the woods was the stranger who kidnapped her. Her eyes went spacious and immediately made her way to his direction.

He shattered the thick stub with his attenuated watou with a very unbelievable strength he released just to wreck it perfectly. The standing timber dwindled to the ground and that he discriminated someone was watching behind. He glance back and was surprised yet propitious to see Kaoru standing there who was in a shock condition after beholding Enishi wrecking that tree only with his blade and bare hands.

"I am going to punish the strongest of Bakumatsu and I'm a perfect match." He gloated and started to oscillate his nodachi to flaunt how sharp it is and how possible he could kill her beloved Kenshin.

"I have studied the swords of Hiten-" he walked his way to pass through her, "And came up with a move to break its ultimate tactics." She gasps when she met those inexorable oculus of his. It makes her anxious in some sort whenever she encounters his bloodthirsty stare.

"I'm not going to ask for anyone's help. I want to give Jinchuu to that guy with my own hands."

Kaoru quickly spin to oppose though, she became so poorly speechless. She couldn't help but just to watch him leave. She wanted to say how good Kenshin was and this technique he so called Jinchuu will never ever be a good match in Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu. "But what if..." she shook her head deliriously, trying to wake herself off from the terrible thoughts. "No way... he could never defeat or kill Kenshin... never he will..."

Her heart started to beat expeditiously. It was too traumatic when she bear witness how that man just easily shattered that huge tree. It causes her to wonder what would that madman do with Kenshin if ever they would have the chance to encounter in a battle. She added those things he promised to render when Kenshin arrives and it painfully caused ache to her heart.

She clasped the cloth near her chest and started to see some conceivable visions of Kenshin while being ripped apart by Tomoe's brother. She panted non-stop, trying to soothe her self in this throbbing pain she was feeling. That man... she could tell how strong he was and could possibly defeat Kenshin who was now much worn out from his previous battles. Kenshin was burned out with all those conflicts and now he didn't even knew how powerful this opponent would be if he ever attempts to show up and redeem her. `He'll kill him.' was the incontestable truth she couldn't change and though she would struggle just to stop him might be the also the cause of her death.

"Kenshin is feeling guilt. He cannot win against a person who wishes to punish him." she uttered for the reason that this was the only thing that whirls inside her head.

She jarred and went to face the colossal mirror ahead of her. She leaned and faces to see the counterpart of her constricted eyes. `I have to get out of here no matter what.'

He came out from his warm bath and went to sit at his stool as always, just having some quiet time all by himself. He scoured the towel in his damped hair and tends to incline at his knee.

Antithetically, Kaoru was prowling outside his room holding her wooden rod, scrupulously gating her way inaudibly. When she was about to pass unto Enishi's room, she was ceased out from her motility when she unexpectedly heard him mutter words in his quiescent room.

"Nee-san. Nande? Why did you have to die?" he wailed softly and started to weep in his massive palms, quivering in calling his sister limitlessly. The way he expressed such words sounds very tormenting, and it did surprise her for the certainty that this man also knows how to cry.

She had no choice but to slope unto the wall, staying there just to hear him grieve. `That person... is also living deep in loneliness, feeling on ire and sadness.' She sighed as if feeling remorse for the poor boy he just saw in him when he stared to sob, just like a five year old kid who was lost and looking for her missing mother.

`He lived all by himself... all alone...' that thought made her to come out to her senses and ponder how she could change everything and might also fluctuate the incidents that supposed to happen if she becomes sympathetic on him. All he needs is some one he could on, and all she could do is to trust and put forth affection on him. This might be really hard though she really wanna change everything and she believed in the determination she was feeling.

Kaoru walked her way to the foyer, holding a tray of food in her hands. She was destined to the huge balcony where Enishi usually spends his time in the whole day. Kaoru had no idea why she was still doing this though she fully knew that Enishi has this scheme of slaughtering Kenshin and she should hate him for that cause.

On second thought, conceivably because of the small boy she usually sees on him. Notwithstanding the pain she had given her, she still preferred to know that boy and show how much he would do in changing his own realm.

Kaoru was still aware of that Enishi was in his deepest agony. Inert from hearing him crying, wailing Tomoe's name every night. He was trapped in grievous depression knowing that nobody cares for him anymore. She had resolved to change that but because of his anticipated crime, she would rather stop doing this nonsense due to the fact that this was all hopeless.

She stood outside and went to place the food on the table. In spite of her discernment, she didn't noticed Enishi who just stood through the door, viewing her with his left temple elevated.

"What's this for?" he asked and made to expect her direct response above all this. He seems to look all annoyed and it causes her to think what was bothering him.

Kaoru smiled and gestured to grapple with his questionable stare. "I'm a woman." She said, "It doesn't make any difference by means of cooking for one or two people. It's up to you whether you eat it or not." She started to tread her way outside with Enishi following her with his stare. He had changed his expression into a faultless, untainted one apparently still bewildered in how she acted just few seconds ago.

Nevertheless, he didn't hover and went to taste the food she prepared for him. It was a usual food to bear and he couldn't withhold how starving he was after long day training at the woods. Add to that with this problem of organizing he had rendered with those illicit weapons that were previously delivered into the different parts of Asia. Still naive in the reason of Pha-ra's sudden call. He could have just asked the two to stay and tell him more though they seem to be in such a hurry just to hunt the other members.

He sighed and sluggishly lay his tired back at the soft stool. He reached the miso soup and steadfastly relished the food.

He froze unexpectedly and in a flash, he placed his chopsticks back on the chopstick holder. He didn't anticipated the dainty looking food to taste so...

"It's awful…"
