Prologue
The divination of the seer became reality as Emperor Koujirou and Empress Kyoko, turned ill.
Uralino the seer of the North, had foretold the future for the Empire of the Kamiya's as well as the deadly fates of the Emperor and Empress. This divination all occurred 2 months ago, when Kamiya, Kaoru first child and only of the King and Queen, turned 18 years of age.
Rumors of the fates of the King and Queen spread far across the land, and those who loathed the empire began sending assassins to fulfill the fatal divination. What an uproar this caused the Kingdom, as guards were set in the chamber's of their Majesty's.
If it were true and the seers omen were to come to be then the empires Princess would take the throne as Empress. But how was it possible when the only child of the Kamiya line, did not take upon the role of Princess? Much less Empress.
That all came into question when the high council set a meeting without the Emperors notice and began to question if the Kamiya line would end here in this day in age, how would they rule the land then? No...they had...they most have the authority of the Princess when Their Majesty's deaths was to come to play. They would act quickly and change the ways of the Princess...from being bored of all lessons to making her learn of obedience and tolerance.
However, Kaoru was a hard match to come by. Kamiya, Kaoru...ah...yes were to begin with such a feisty creature as this one?
Well here is were I begin, Kaoru at birth was to be brought up as a princess, feminine hobbies to choose from and young boys that she will be seen to betroth at the coming of her age. But her father did not see it just that his daughter only be brought up to be an empress, so he declared to all the land that Kaoru the child he thought would be born boy, would be raised as one. Politics, a chose men seem to think is to vile and dirty for women to join in.
Empress Kyoko was enraged with the thought of having her daughter brought up as a boy, so demanded that order be restricted. So it was...in the public view as well as in the Kingdoms as well. But Kaoru's father's closest instructors in secrecy taught her the arts of martial arts, sorcery, and swordsmanship. As well as in politics and trading.
As much as Kyoko tried to deny it, her beautiful daughter had the features of a hansom boy...yes a boy. Not in body, but in the aspect of her face. Her slim body was usually covered in men's clothes, and Kaoru made no point of showing her skin, especially to her mother.
She held bruises of training with her instructors everyday, and if Kyoko were to see them she would suspect her husband training the girl.
That's one thing Kaoru tried to prevent Kyoko from finding out.
It was in 2 months the seer Uralino said that her parents would become ill...and so they did. Uralino also said that they would die 3 days afterward of high fever. Kaoru feared her parents live and knew in the pit of her heart that she had no way of preventing the death to come.
It was the 2nd day of 3 days in which they would die...
“Mother, I got you some of your favorite fruits. Grapes, the purple ones of course and oranges.” Kaoru said with a melancholy voice as she set the bowl with the fruit on the brass counter.
Their Kamiya, Kyoko laid so fragile and weak, and deathly pale. Yet with her beauty never faltering. Her ebony hair long and curled slightly, it was a black cape as it spread across the pillows. She wore a simple white silk nightgown, and was covered by her comforter up to her breast.
Kyoko who's eyes were closed at the moment opened them slightly and smiled weakly. “Kaoru my darling child, your wearing a gown. What a beautiful woman you are becoming.”
Kaoru wore a light blue gown that clung to her every curve, her back erect and arms at her side casually. She wore her hair in a messy bun making curls of her hair sprout out, and frame her face. Medium yet narrowed alluring sapphire eyes and a defiant nose, elegant eyebrows and long and thick eyelashes. Porcelain white skin, and sharp yet elegant nails.
“Thank you mother...I wore it especially for you.” Kaoru stated and smiled as she went to sit down on her mothers bed. Carefully she stroked Kyoko's forehead and whispered Sweet Nothings.
Kyoko sighed contently and grabbed her daughter's hand in her own. “I love you Kaoru...so much...I'm sure you'll rule over the land well. Yes...I know it. So, good-bye for now.”
Kaoru's gasped in agony as she saw her mother take her final breath and die.
“Wait! YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSE TO DIE YET!!! DON'T LEAVE ME MOMMY!” Kaoru practically yelled as she screeched in utter sadness as grief consumed her every being. She sobbed, as tears began to fall across her cheek. realization crept over her face as she got up, still in tears and ran passed the servant who was coming in from the commotion. As Kaoru ran down the hall she could hear the faint sob of the servant who entered her mother's chamber.
Biting her lower lip, Kaoru with a wave of her hand over her body her outfit changed. She had truly worn that dress for her mother, even got the maid to choose it out for her, but she had to look presentable for her father. If he had not yet over come to death.
Her outfit was of a white tunic with a small V cut on the collar, the sleeves reached her elbows, and tucked in her black guipao`s which were her hand armor. They tucked in her black breeches which mid way down her knee but above her ankle where straps of leather holding her straw sandals in place. Her hair was in a high ponytail, and strapped to her side was a wakazashi. Kaoru's puffed red eyes continued to stay.
“Father!” Kaoru yelled and turned the narrow coroner, entering a short but large in width hallway. At the very end was a large wooden door.
As Kaoru was about to open the door she was zapped back with a strong electrical force making her go up in the air and nearly falling if she hadn't caught herself and did a back flip and land perfectly on her feet.
“A barrier.” Kaoru knew her father needed protection, but why couldn't they have done that for her mother as well?
“It's pretty strong too...” Kaoru mused, unsheathing her wakazashi with her right hand carrying it firmly in front of her she said, “Zap this you 3rd rate barrier.”
The sharp blade of her wakazashi emitted a powerful dark blue aura and Kaoru took a step or two back, before she jumped up legs in midair continued to crouch she slashed and what followed was a sharp trail of powerful aura, slicing the large wooden door in half.
Dust covered the area, and paying no mind to it Kaoru sheathed her wakazashi and ran at full throttle.
“What is the meaning of this!?” Came the angry voice, of what Kaoru recognized as one of the high priests from the Church of Myoshin.
“Father!” Kaoru called and over the loud rumble noises, Kaoru could hear the coughing of her father.
Rushing over to his large bed, and ignoring the protests of the priest she said, “Mother...mother she's dead!!! Papa!”
“Kyoko, my darling Kyoko!” Koujirou sobered as he closed his eyes shut and grieved.
Kaoru “Papa, the omen of the seer was wrong she died in 2 days!”
Koujirou opened his eyes calmness replaced grief as he said, “Kaoru listen to me...Rule the Empire wisely.---he was cut short as Kaoru roared “Papa! Why do you not cry for Mama!? Why do you not worry of your own death FIGHT IT!”
“I can't...its overpowering me as we speak, I must tell you now. The seer will come again, and will tell you something important listen carefully to....---he captured his breath his narrowed blue eyes growing heavy, and wavy black bang wisped by his forehead as a cold eerie breeze seemed to pass by the room. ---” “what he says. You have grown up to be a fine protégée in all that you have done. Please use all of those skills to your advantage in being Empress....I....I love you Kaoru, and I wish I could have told you more times. Be well daughter...”
His hand gripped Kaoru's and then it weakened as his hansom face paled and he took his last breath and died. Kaoru's eyes were wide and her mouth open still.
The high priest, held stunned expression, their white cascading robes and high golden laced hats noticeable on them. Then they all went to the marble floor, they bended down their forehead's touching cold marble as they said in unison, “Empress Kaoru Kamiya, welcome to your reign....Your Era.”
Kaoru's eyes widened even more, she held no time to grief or mourn for the death of her loved one as she straightened from her position and looked onward out to the hallway where many servants were on the floor bowing, welcoming with much sorrow in their hearts. Their new Empress.
