Hi, this is my second fan fiction. I hope you like it. If I have any spelling wrong I am very sorry. The story switches between different povs all the time, they are spaced but I wont tell you whose pov I am in so just read it will all make sense.

Chapter 1

Ow, I stepped on another rock thought Misao as she rubbed her abused foot. She gazed up at the half-moon as she lowered herself to the dirty ground. She pulled her legs up to her chin and wrapped her arms around them.Another lonely night outside on the cold, hard ground. Misao scanned the area quickly to make sure she wasn't being followed anymore. Then laid down and curled into a ball to try to ward off the cold winds.

"Mom, dad...no" Misao stared at her parents bodies that were sprawled across the floor. Her eyes traveled over to the five men who had just slaughtered both her parents. One of the men had heard her and turned to face her

"Hey get back here, bitch." He yelled as she turned and ran, she kept running but she could hear the five men chasing after her. She turned her head as she ran to see how close they were. She felt her legs give out as the ground came up to meet her. She tried to get up but they were already standing over her. Their hands reached out to grab her and...

"I have your brother in my... care" He says with false kindness "In order to keep him safe you must do everything your told. I want you to kill the king." He orders her. Her mouth falls open.

"Ya well I want to kill you, but we don't always get what we want." she snaps. Before she can react his hand come up and slaps her across the face.

"You will kill the king or I will kill your little brother, painfully." he adds as a after though. Her eyes flash and her Jaw tightens

"How exactly do you expect me to kill the king." She asks angrily.

"You will go as the new personal attendant to the King."

"What if he already has one" she speaks trying to find away out.

"Don't worry we've already taken care of that.” Shishio says with a smirk. She gulps not wanting to think about what they did to the other one.

"This was your plan all along you were never going to help me you just wanted me to do your dirty work." Kaoru speaks her anger returning.

"Smart aren't you, you better hurry you are expected to be there tomorrow morning. Since you are a servant now you will be walking." She opens her mouth to protest but was cut off.

"Don't worry we will take care of Yahiko, your dismissed." In a daze she turned and walked out of Shishio's office. She was still in a daze when she reached the room her and Yahiko have been sharing. She only snapped out of it when her eyed landed on Yahiko's bed. Her eyes filled with tears. Yahiko, no I won't cry I must be strong. She thought as she wiped her tears away. She set her eyes in determination. I will save Yahiko he is all I have left, besides I made a promise.

Flashback- 5 years ago

"Daddy don't die." A 15 year old Kaoru stood crying over her very sick father.

"Kaoru don't cry" he paused as a fit of coughs came over him. "Promise me one thing." he spoke with as much strength as possible. A teary eyed Kaoru looked up at her father.

"Anything" she whispers.

"Promise me you.. will take care of... Yahiko." He speaks coughing mid sentence.

"I promise father" Kaoru speaks all teary eyed. "And don't ever forget I will always love you" and he went limb. Kaoru's eyes went wide before the fell shut as more tears slipped from them.

"Daddy no.." she cried over her father's dead body.

End flashback

I will do any thing to protect my brother. Even kill the king. Kaoru told her self before starting to pack. At night fall she was more then half way there. She decided to get a room for the night. Although she doubted she would sleep at all.

She watched the sun come up over the trees as she walked closer to the castle until she was standing in front of it. It's huge. I m going to get lost all the time. She thought still gaping at the size. She looked around it was pretty quite outside, a couple of guards here and there. In the far corner she was sure she saw a rose garden. Her hands reach out to grasp the giant handle to pull open the front doors.
