Chapter one: Dislocation
Nausea was it? That dulled her senses. The journey swirled through her head as the trip did. Finally deciding to open her eyes, the young girl's first reaction was to clutch her pounding head, trying to ease the pain from the former incident with the floor. Head still to floor, she realized that she wasn't on her bed, not in her room, and certainly not in her own home. Heck, she was in another dimension!
“What the-!” Quickly sitting up, regardless of the pain, she checked her surroundings, and herself. Her small hands, turned into paper! The lighting consisted of two basic colors, her details were minor and outlined with black. No, this was definitely not her world, she wasn't even certain that it was her time either. The surrounding looked too familiar…
She gasped, immediately realizing that her praying had worked. Perhaps she prayed a little too hard for her own sake. The impossible happened. God had allowed such remarkable disfiguration to take place. What was going on?
Then, she heard voices; those distinct voices she had heard many episodes before. No, it really was happening, she was soon to face her obsession. `This is a dream! No way! It can't happen! It's impossible!'
The heavy door opened, and in came two men in black uniforms. They were taken aback by her presence, cursing in Japanese. `I can understand them, I can understand Japanese! Yay! But, not really because I have no idea how I got here…Wait, what if I get killed?! What's going to happen to me?! How did I get here in the first place?! Man, I'm divertive. Their coming! What do I do?!'
“Get up! Get up!” they shouted at her. Slowly, the girl got up, her back close to the wall she mysteriously came out of, “How'd you get in here? Who are you?” questions came flying at her like bullets.
“I…I.” It was hard to think of something she herself couldn't explain. `What do I say? Oh no, they're going to kill me aren't they? Hurry! Think of something!' “Um, I'm not sure.”
“Lie! Tell us now!” Dealing with people who weren't as merciful as herself was something to think about. People in this era, especially in Japan, were distant and very hard to communicate positively with, “We have no patience for you tricks concubine girl!” Their blades echoed against her fear of death.
“Con-concubine?! W-wait- I don't know! Hold up! Let me explain myself!”
“Go on!” they commanded.
“Well I was at home, then I fell asleep, then...”
“We aren't fools!” Without warning, one of the men grabbed her arms from behind and held her back. He smiled with pride, “What are we going to do with her?”
“I don't know! Wait till-” The other said.
“Wait! Don't! I haven't done anything bad!” she protested against his grip. She had worthy strength as a female, but not enough to fight back both of them, “Get away from me!” Suddenly, her leg went flying towards the man coming to her, and hit him in the groin. “Ah!” `That's the first time! Ew! It feels weird! I only have socks on!'
“Bitch!” he howled.
“Assholes!” she retorted, “Get off me!”
“You're going to pay!”
At the right moment, the door opened again, gently. All three of them turned towards the intruder, smiling with curiosity,
“Sou…” her mind wandered, `Soujirou…my goodness, I can't believe I'm actually seeing this man.'
“Soujirou-sama! We-we-“
“Who is this you've invited to our base?” he asked the two men, while walking towards the group.
“We had nothing to do with this! We just saw this girl here, we didn't know how or why she was here so we…we.” He trailed off.
“I see.” He replied pleasantly, and looked at the girl staring intently back at him. She withdrew as soon as their gaze met, “How did you get here?”
“I…don't know.” She felt uncomfortable, unable to be compressed any further behind her shoulders, “I just woke up and…am here.” There was no other simpler way to put it. Words were words, no way to explain them. “It's a paranormal thing, I guess. I can't explain it…”
“Unexplainable?” he questioned, “strange…much like your clothing.” He laughed a little. `Yeah, vice versa, right back at you.' He turned to the men, “Go back to patrol, Shishio-san will be angry if you don't.”
They did as they were told, obediently.
“What is your name?” he asked again.
Somehow, she wanted those men to come back, so Soujirou would be talking to them instead of her. “It's…” she flushed noticeably, and hated it. She was never good at confrontation, let alone being trialed for death. “My name is, Ying.”
“You're from China?”
“Sure.”
“All right, Yingu-san. My name is Soujirou, nice to meet you.” He bowed slightly. She responded to a lighter bow, knowing him completely, though not knowing what he was thinking next. “You say you just, appeared?” he asked, with no sarcasm in his voice and none on his face, nothing except for a beautiful smile.
“Yeah.”
“That's strange…” he pondered, “Well, here.” He handed her his blue outer wear.
Ying could only gape, “Huh? Why are you…”
“Well, you do want to cover yourself up, right?” he smiled.
`Oh snaps, I remember now. Wearing tank tops here is like wearing nothing but underwear. Sheesh and I'm wearing denim capris too, with my messy hair up in a bun. What kind of impression am I giving this guy…? Soujirou, the one anime person I know well of. Why am I thinking about this when I should be worrying?' “Sure, of course.” She said as she took the blue coat from his hands. `Man this is thin but it sure keeps you sweating. Wow, his scent smells good.' Ying couldn't get enough of it. `So clean…I love it.'
“I really don't know what to do with you, Yingu-san. So I guess I'll leave the decision to Shishio-san.” He said, seeing no surprise in her face, “You're not familiar with him?”
`Drat…I knew this convo would come up soon. Well…' “Nope.” `What a lie…' she thought. Of course she knew that psychotic bastard. He was basically the most hated man on her list in the series. He had a nice voice, but he was evil. That was about it.
Soujirou frowned momentarily, “Oh.” but keeping his smiling eyes while doing so.” You'll meet him soon, just stay here.” He walked towards the heavy doors and passed to the other room. `And I'm looking forward to that.' Ying let her mind wander. `Wonderful, Shishio, which now he is getting to come and decide to kill me, right? Why aren't I afraid?'
She sat down on the tatami floor covering and sighed inwardly, “God help me, I don't know what I did wrong.” Bored after a few minutes, she started singing in English, “Ordinary People” by John Legend. “Girl I'm in love with you, this ain't the honey moon, just past the infatuation phase…” It was her favorite song. John Legend was like the female version Alicia Keys as her friend had told her. She picked this song for her Sophomore English class for lyrics memorization. `Melanie…I wonder what she's doing now…Partying? Or a home I guess…Gosh that girl, how can someone act so perfect?' Sometimes she'd admired the way her friend had handled things, and other times she was a bit bitchy. `Oh well, she's not a close friend anyway.'
The heavy door opened again, and in came the deep-fried man along with his witchy concubine, and Seta.
“Here she is, Shishio-san.” Soujirou presented.
Makoto crossed his stiff arms and smirked, “So Soujirou, you weren't lying after all.”
“Lie? To you?” he tilted his head innocently.
“Don't flatter yourself, boy.” Yumi told him.
`Ugh…here goes nothing.' She thought as the mummy-man walked to her, “You `appeared' huh?”
“As far as I know…” she absently stalled.
“Sounds pretty unbelievable, don't you think?”
She looked up at him, with the look of a disappointed spoiled daughter, “Well, if I lied to you I don't think this would be the best lie I could come up with.”
“Rebellious, don't you think so?” He dropped his arms and turned around to walk back, “What a waste of time. Girl, I could care less how you got in here, I just want you out, with no knowledge of this place. -Soujirou?”
“Yes?”
“Kill her.”
“Whoa! Wait a minute! I-I don't even know what happened! This isn't fair!” She yelled after him.
Soujirou pouted, “That's unfortunate, but orders are orders.” He turned back to Ying. “May I please have my clothing back? I don't want to stain it.”
`Man is HE cold! I can't believe him! I guess what they say is true about him.' Ying stared at him with a depressing and angry look, “Okay, here.”
“O…K…?”
“It's means alright- never mind.” She shook her head and handed him his clothes. `This is death? Somehow…I don't think I'd die after this…I'm in anime world, duh. But what if I really die? I'm not ready, but I'm not that afraid either.' “Get it over with.”
“Wow, how brave of you.” He said leveling his blade at her heart.
Suddenly, her beating increased, realizing that fear was hidden there, and taken out. `Uh…I'm not too sure about this, anymore.' “Hurry then. I c…can't…”
“Alright.” He said, and drew his blade back to stab her, `No! I can't!' she cried in her mind, and fell onto the floor missing the blow. “I missed…” he droned, “Interesting. I haven't missing my target for a while now…interesting…” he said again.
`Interesting? INTERESTING? What's so interesting about it?!...Wait…' “He, what year is it?”
“Huh? Oh- It's, 1879, why so sudden?”
She whispered the problem to herself, “79?...Then…61…plus 18…that's…”
Soujirou narrowed his eyes slightly in question, “How do you know how old I am? And what year I was born?”
“Uh…” `Nice going, he's onto you.' “you looked about 18 or so. I was just wondering.”
He giggled, “You abruptly wonder about my age in the middle of death? Come on, don't lie to me.”
`What now? There's a slight chance he won't kill me thank god, but I'm not completely sure about this… I guess 1879 is where he meets him…That's when Kenshin comes in, so…he must be in the state of confusion, that's why he missed and couldn't kill me before. I hope I'm right about this.' “Okay, you caught me. I'm the fairy of the past, here to warn you about what lies ahead.”
“This isn't the time to jest, Yingu-san. If you know something, tell me. Please?”
“I know nothing of you, Soujirou-san.” She boldly responded, trying to hide the hesitation. Ying was never good at lying, that's why she always lost playing cards; especially the game BS.
Soujirou nodded, “Fine. But you're going to die, one way or another.”
She shrunk back at his statement, unbelieving, again, of his words. `What in the world is wrong with him?' For the second time, he readied his Kiki Ichimonji Norimune at her. `I…I should've told him something.' Ying held back the sting in her nose and the heavy drop in her eyes that threatened to spill. She reached up to her chest, and held the genuine crystal cross her aunt had bought her at the mall, a few weeks ago (Or should I say century?). Being scared and moral at the same time, Ying opened her mouth, “You know, I would've protected you, if I was there.”
His brows deepened, “What do mean?”
She sighed, preparing for a massive emotional crisis in her hands, “I would've, if I was there.” She repeated.
“I don't understand…how do you…” His lips hadn't flinched from its perfect curve, only his eyes took on the worrying.
“Boy!” The annoying voice of the witch called, “Come here- Hey…she's still alive, why isn't she dead?”
`Tch, why aren't you dead?'
“I'm sorry Yumi-san, but I had time to talk.”
“Well, do it later! Now Shishio-sama needs to speak with about the plan. All the ten swords are here already.”
“Coming.” He headed for the door, not once facing back, “I don't know what you talk of, Yingu-san. But I'll be back to hear an explanation.”
“I'll try to stay.”

Strange, yea? Heh, I had a good time writing about myself! Who wouldn't? Anyway, Yes, I am Chinese, and no, no romance will be in here unless it's OC RK couples.
My Chinese name is Ying, but I make Soujirou say “Yingu” because Japanese people can't pronounce that unless the name/word/whatever has a vowel at the end. And my friend's name isn't Melanie, I won't expose her identity.
