Rurouni Kenshin Fan Fiction ❯ Vampire-istic ❯ Chapter 3 ( Chapter 3 )
Sup, this is Reb's friends Neil and Fro. We have officially hijacked her author's notes for this chapter. Bwuahahaha!
First thing's first. Anyone that knows Reb knows her grandmother died shortly after she posted the first chapter. Since she went up to where her grandparents live for a week, then came back for 4 days. She went back up there for her grandmother's funeral and stayed for 4 days, so the second chapter was a while coming. She works 3 days a week, she goes to school and makes pretty good grades. She has a life, if the chapters are a while coming, deal with it. As her friends, we know that she doesn't talk about her problems unless she's asked specifically. When she's not doing too well with crap, she's quiet and withdrawn, and during that time she has no desire to write. Her grandmother's death was hard on her, even if she doesn't show it. She knew she needed to get the next chapter up, but she wasn't in the mood to write, so she shut herself up in her room with music. She had seven eighths of the second chapter written. When she saved it to disk and went to the other computer to work on it there, she lost it. All of it. She didn't write some short chapter to appease you people, she wrote her chapter and took her time. Don't you ever say that she should update more often just because you're self-absorbed. Mess with her and you mess with us. With that, we will leave you to enjoy your little story.

I borrowed the name Mogget because it sounded cool; the characters are nowhere near similar. So I do not own Mogget either.

Kaoru and Misao stood paralyzed in the foyer of their apartment.
"You aren't frightened are you? Really, it's not like I'm planning on killing you," the man paused," yet."
"Who the hell are you and what the hell do you think you're doing here?" Kaoru demanded angrily.
"I'm only a long lost..friend shall we say," the man said.
"We've never met you, now leave before things get really ugly," Misao said hurriedly, her fear well concealed beneath her anger.
"Really, do you think you two would stand a chance against me? You are only human."
"Shut up," Misao ground out angrily, her hands bristling with kunai.
"Enishi," a low voice ground out angrily.
"Ah, Shinomori Aoshi, how good to see you. How's the missus? Oh wait, I'm sorry, I let that slip, didn't I?" the man identified as Enishi replied.
Aoshi growled and drew his kodachi, prepared to protect the lives of his love and her friend. Kenshin stepped into the apartment foyer and gave Enishi a look that could fry an egg at four miles.
"Enishi, you have set yourself up for death by doing this," Kenshin ground out through a clenched jaw. Freya chose this moment to make her presence known and merely glanced at the three vampires in the room before heading over to Kaoru and Misao. She stood in front of them with both katanas drawn, ready to fight to the death, preferably her opponent's death.
"So, the gang's all here," Enishi said, glancing around the room with unconcerned eyes.
~*~*~*~*~
"You wouldn't have done this if you weren't certain of your own safety. Where's the trick, Enishi?" Freya asked, katanas glimmering in the low light.
"I can't just drop in to visit my favorite reincarnated women. Is that a crime Himura?" Enishi replied, humor flickering about his face.
"I did not ask you that question, though I want to know the answer. Leave this place or meet your doom," Kenshin said, his eyes alight like a wild fire.
"I was not talking to you, Battousai, I was talking to Himura over there," Enishi said, his arm indicating Freya. Freya merely ducked her head ever so slightly to hide her burning amber eyes behind her black and blood red bangs.
"I know nothing of what you say," Kenshin said, his hand gripping his sword hilt tighter, his knuckles showing white.
"Women are tricky like that, ne? Really, I took her as the type to spill the beans at the drop of a hat. I suppose vampires can change in two hundred years," Enishi said, referring to Freya in a spiteful tone.
Freya declared, "Enishi, our score is our own, leave them out of it. There is no need to drag them into something they know nothing of."
"Ah, but they should know, it does concern them. Besides, it'll be more fun to get rid of you in front of a crowd."
"The crowd you discuss contains some of the most powerful vampires available. You are weak Enishi. Do you hear me? You are weak. Only a coward would take two humans as bait to lure someone out of the woodwork. Your tricks are old, I know that you have your best trained surrounding the building, so even if we did kill you, we would still die by your hand. Ah, but don't worry, I made some calls before I came here. I knew you would do something like this. One call changed your entire scheme. Give up now and we might allow you to live," Freya said, her tone mocking.
"That's-that's not possible. We have met only once, I have allowed no one to live that knows my secrets, and how did you find out my plans?"
"I work in Recon, never underestimate a tricky woman. I have my sources that are more loyal to me than they have ever been to you."
"Leave," Kenshin breathed dangerously.
"You have not yet won the war. This is merely one battle of many to come," Enishi said before leaving the foyer.
"Loser," Misao said, breathing a sigh of relief.
Kenshin cornered Freya, not allowing her any room to escape. "What did he mean by Himura?" Kenshin demanded in a tone that did not allow any room for argument. His hand gripped her shoulder with a force that could have snapped it.
"Dance with the dead, you better be ten times more deadly," Freya responded, her answer cryptic.
"Answer me," Kenshin demanded, shaking her as he said so.
"Himura, Shinta, Kenshin...Battousai, we are related," was the answer as she shrugged out of his grasp and left the room.
Kenshin could have howled in frustration, but his shock was too great. He had no living relatives, what could she be talking about?
~*~*~*~*~
Freya ran headlong down the stairs, not even pausing when she noticed Seta Soujiro standing out in the parking lot. She fumbled for the keys, finally found them and climbed into her car, hurriedly leaving as if a hundred telemarketers were chasing her. Damnit, I was not going to tell him anything. I caved, what kind of idiot am I? So we're related, yeah, but still, I am such a weakling. Freya drove at breakneck speeds in random directions, not paying attention to anything except the raging thoughts in her head. She pulled into a parking space and looked up, noticing for the first time that she had arrived at the Tokyo Tower. What the hell, I haven't been up in years.
~*~*~*~*~
"What happened with the Captain?" Misao asked Kaoru, hoping against hope that Kaoru knew something that she had just missed out on.
"I have no idea. I really wish she hadn't left us here with them," Kaoru answered, the absolute loathing in her voice evident as she spoke of Kenshin and Aoshi. Both of the vampires were walking through the apartment checking that all the windows and doors were secure, despite the two women's threats of bodily harm.
"Will you stop that!" Kaoru yelled when Kenshin opened up the door to her bedroom. Kenshin turned to look at Kaoru and threw her a cheeky grin, his answer to her challenge.
"No," he stated calmly.
Kaoru flung herself at the door and shut it with more force than necessary. "Leave now or forever regret it."
Ah Kaoru-koishii, I will regret it if I do leave. Kenshin thought before his thoughts flew back to the angry woman in front of him. "You look very beautiful when you're angry," Kenshin said, his voice the tone of a man discussing the weather. His eyes said something completely different; they had a primal look to them that had no name.
"You can leave, we can take care of ourselves quite well," Misao spoke up in defense of Kaoru.
"Aa, we could, but we won't," Aoshi said quietly, his cold exterior slightly ruffled.
Kaoru threw her hands up in disgust and flung herself into the seeming safety of an armchair. The look on her face clearly stated that any who decided to disturb her and her homicidal thoughts would receive a very violent outburst. Misao contented herself with going into her room and locking the door with a very decided click.
"Shouldn't we follow Takimoto?" Aoshi asked Kenshin, his curiosity held in check by the look on the Battousai's face. What had passed between the two vampires clearly disturbed the usual calm look to Kenshin's face.
"No," was the cold response. "She will return."

Freya stood on the observation deck of the Tokyo Tower and gazed out at the skyline. Not much has changed in the past twenty years. People come, people go. To think I was content with my life. I knew where Shinta was, for the most part. That was all that mattered. Really, it's amazing that now that I can have a relationship with him, I'm reluctant to even talk to him. I used to dream of the conversations we would have, but now, I want nothing to do with him. Freya sighed as she turned to leave, but the man standing a few paces away caused her to growl in frustration.
"Seta, what do you want?" Freya said angrily, her normally blue eyes flashing to amber.
"You left in quite a hurry," was Soujiro's response.
"So you took it upon yourself to find me? Really, I thought you knew me better than that."
"Maybe I do; however, when you have a look that could kill a defenseless human plastered on your face, I think it's best not to leave you alone," Soujiro said, almost sounding kind.
"I am perfectly capable of handling myself. I have not lost that much of myself in all these years."
"Ah, maybe so. Just the same, I think it would be best not to leave you alone."
Freya sighed, "Whatever Seta."
"I was hoping you would say that," Soujiro said. "How about something to eat?"
Freya growled. "No."
"Suit yourself. We never finished our discussion from the other day."
"No, we didn't, but now is not a good time," Freya answered, brushing past the Human Resources director in an effort to leave without being followed.
"You can't hide from your past forever, Freya," Soujiro called out.

Misao sat on her bed comfortably, fuming over the intrusion of the two male vampires. A loud pounding on the door interrupted her tumultuous thoughts. Misao flung herself off the bed and rushed towards the sound, expecting some danger to be befalling the other three occupants of the apartment.
"Misao! Open up this damn door," Kaoru yelled.
"I'm going, geez, hold your horses Kamiya," Misao shouted back, unlocking the door to allow Kaoru to tumble in, Kenshin close on her heels.
"I told you to leave me alone!" Kaoru cried out angrily, her verbal assault directed at the short flame haired man. She had slammed the door abruptly in his face.
"I don't listen well," was his response.
"I've noticed. Now stay out! I mean it, too!" Kaoru said stubbornly, choosing to ignore the fact that the vampire could break down the door if he so chose to.
"Problems I take it," Misao said conversationally, settling back on her bed.
"Something like that," was Kaoru's response.
~*~*~*~*~
"Troubles Battousai?" Aoshi asked from his seat near the window, not even bothering to turn to look at the man he was addressing.
"No more than you have, Shinomori" Kenshin said, settling on the floor in front of the door. His katana was out of his belt and was currently leaning against one of his shoulders, but still at the ready for any sort of attack.
"I choose the more passive approach. You could learn something, Battousai," Aoshi replied.
"That is why Misao never knew of your feelings. Be bold for her sake," was the answer tossed back to the Oniwabanshu's Okashira.
"Hai, for her sake."
~*~*~*~*~
"Misao, why won't they leave?" Kaoru asked, not really expecting an answer. "He annoys me so much, I wish I had never even seen the guy."
"I assume you mean the red-haired one," Misao replied cheekily.
"Yes! Of course I mean him," Kaoru answered sounding extremely exasperated.
"You know you like him. I mean, he's got great sexy hair, and he's got those artistic hands you absolutely adore. What's not to like?"
"The fact that he looks at me like he knows me," Kaoru said, sounding slightly dreamy at Misao's rather descriptive depiction.
"Same thing with that other dude. He's still cute though!" Misao said, her normal peppiness firmly in place.
Kaoru sighed, "Yeah, but I don't like this for some reason."
"I agree, maybe Freya knows something," Misao responded.
"Maybe," came Kaoru's wistful reply.

"Hey Sano, do you know where Kenshin and Aoshi went? I thought they might want to know about Omasu," Megumi called to her husband from the living room.
"Nope, I don't know where they went," Sano answered, poking his head from the kitchen. Sano was a rather comical sight, all decked out in an apron with flour liberally coated to it and his shirtsleeves. "You want me to try to find them after I finish making these cookies?"
"No, that's ok. They'll probably call later. What kind are you making today?" Megumi said. She was often too busy dealing with their injured team members and the underworld clinics she helped run to do much of the normal housework. Sano happily took her place, it seemed he had a knack for the feminine arts.
"The chocolate chocolate chip ones," was Sano's muffled reply.
"Well hurry it up, it sounds good," Megumi said, her words punctuated by Omasu's groan as she woke up from her healing sleep. Megumi hurried to her bedside to find Omasu very much awake. "Welcome back to the world of the undead."
"Hai, Misao.." Omasu managed to breathe before being wracked with coughing.
"Misao and Kaoru are safe," Megumi said, handing the wounded Oniwabanshu member a glass of water to help dispel her coughing fit.
"Good," Omasu said, her coughing having subsided enough for her to say.
~*~*~*~*~
Freya sat in her car, staring out into space. I suppose I should go rejoin those two recruits. It's not right leaving them alone, possibly with...him. Freya started the car and drove back to the apartment.
The sight that greeted her unamused eyes would have been hysterical at any other time. Walking through the door proved to be no problem since her raised ki kept Kenshin and Aoshi in their current positions. Pissing off an already clearly unhappy she-vampire was considered extremely stupid among male vampires. Kenshin sat in front of a door in his normal half watchful, half dozing position. Aoshi stood near the window, watching all that passed on the street below. Kaoru and Misao could not be seen, but muffled sounds could be heard from the room Kenshin guarded so closely.
"Move, Battousai," Freya could be heard saying. Kenshin turned unamused eyes to the captain, only to discover angry amber flecked eyes staring down at him. A lesser mortal would have been easily cowed, an immortal merely watchful. For the Battousai, he was intrigued to see how far he could prod this vampire before being made abundantly aware of the weapons she carried.
"No," was Kenshin's amused answer. Does she really expect me to just scoot over for her? What a bitch.
"I strongly suggest you move before I decide to crawl through the air ducts, or merely scale the wall and climb through the window. I am surprised you have sunk to such lows yet," Freya responded, casually leaning her well-muscled body against the wall.
"I know better than sneaking into a girl's bedroom."
"You should know better than to piss off a girl, and a she-vampire at that. We have the nice reputation of being very...temperamental."
"Let her in you idiot!" Kaoru could be heard yelling through the closed door. Kenshin sighed and slid over marginally so Freya could squeeze through the portal.
"Good evening girls," Freya said, knowing that Kenshin could hear every word she said. Freya searched the room looking for a piece of paper and a pen, keeping up a conversation of meaningless banter. After locating some writing tools, she began writing down her plans.
~*~*~*~*~
"Battousai, it is very quiet," Aoshi said, his position at the window still unchanged. The normal cliche answer would be "too quiet", but Kenshin's too cool for that.
"Hai, but then we've already been repeatedly warned of the consequences of interrupting them," Kenshin answered. "I suppose a little peek wouldn't hurt would it, Shinomori?"
"Iie, it would not," Aoshi answered, the inflection in his voice could be misconstrued as something far more sinister. Finally he would be able to see his Misao's personality in her new life.
Kenshin pressed his ear to the door, listening for any sound of movement. After a moment, he nodded his head and allowed Aoshi to work on opening the door silently. After all, Aoshi was the leader of the Oniwabanshu. The door opened without a sound, but the sight that met their eyes would haunt them for days.
"Shit."
~*~*~*~*~
Misao laughed hysterically, "They're going to freak when they see we're gone."
"Yes they are, which means silence is needed," Freya answered, the young officer was really starting to grate on the captain. "Besides, pissed off vampires isn't something I really want to think about at the moment. I mean, it is the Battousai." You are related Takimoto, he couldn't just kill you. Then again, he didn't know of our relation until today, so maybe death would be a good ending for it.
"Where are we going to go? I mean, he'll know to look at the UPA for us, since we all work there," Kaoru asked, her confidence in her Captain evident in the note of pride in her voice.
"There is one place, but it requires stealth and silence to arrive there safely. The man that lives there knows me fairly well, besides, he owes me a favor."
~*~*~*~*~
Several hours later, the trio had reached what appeared to be a mysterious house of some fashion high up on a hill. Freya motioned for the two humans to stay hidden while she went ahead, hands on katana hilts.
"Baka, I know you are there," a voice called out, startling the two humans while Freya's expression remained unchanged.
"Hiko-san, good to see you are still alive after all these years," Freya said respectfully.
"I see you have not changed your ways, crawling to me in your time of need."
"I did not crawl to you the other times, I walked up this damn hill with my pride and respect firmly in place," Freya indignantly replied.
"Aa, maybe it was so. The years begin to blur after the first 500. Occupational hazard you know. So what can I do for you and the two humans cowering behind the bushes back there?" Hiko asked, his normally stoic expression somewhat relaxed in Freya's presence. Something about the she-vampire brought that aspect out in his personality.
"Would you consider granting me another favor, Hiko-san?" Freya asked, formalities in place.
"Depending on this favor, I might be willing to grant it. Explain," the master of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu replied.
"I need you to hide these two for a few days until I can discuss things with your baka deshi."
"Ah, I suppose I could grant you this favor," Hiko replied.
"What! You're going to make us stay here with him?" Kaoru questioned angrily.
"Consider it an order, Kamiya," Freya replied, her normal demeanor firmly in place.
"We can take care of ourselves," Misao said, trying to placate their Captain.
"Against humans that I am sure of. Vampire and werewolves are completely different opponents."
"Which is why we're staying with a vampire," Kaoru said sarcastically.
Hiko cleared his throat rather loudly.
"He happens to not need blood to survive. He's also second to none with his fighting skills. Very few know where he lives, and even if they did know, this place is practically impregnable," Freya responded, her patience quickly going out the window.
"How do you know him?" Kaoru asked, her tone suggesting much more than her words.
"That is a tale for another day and another time. Hiko-san, I will be back before the moon is full again," with that, the mysterious Captain Takimoto Freya left Seijiro Hiko's stronghold.

So, this chapter took a bit of time didn't it? Getting grounded kinda does that to a girl. I have officially re-stolen my chapter from the two idiots from before. I would apologize for them, but quite frankly, it needed to be said. So, if you have questions, either email them to me or put it in the reviews. By the way, I LIKE REVIEWS. So, on to the questions for this chapter. I realize that not much happened in this chapter, but I'm still setting things up for future chapters since it would take too much time to explain it any other way.
Q: Why is Kenshin in Battousai form?
A: Because if I owned Kenshin (which I don't) he would give up the whole Rurouni thing and go around killing people. The Rurouni is too docile for the purposes in my story.
Q: Why Enishi as the baddie?
A: Because when I started writing this story, they were on Shishio on CN and I was sick of him and his bandaged ways.
Q: Why make Soujiro what he is?
A: Well, you see, I was thinkin that Soujiro's cool and crap so he should have a good part in the story. Besides, with his little smile thing going on, he would make the perfect person to deal with complaints and crap within the UPA.
Oh, I got the first graphic novel of RK, and I like it. Then again, it's humorous enough to keep me entertained. So, until the next chapter....review
