Kenshin stared; he couldn't help it, there was no way to disbelieve her story, and yet at the same time, how in the world was it possible? She was standing there with proof of her claims, but could it merely be trickery?

“You still doubt?” Haruka asked her voice calm.

“You expect it to be easy to believe?” Kenshin countered.

“No, but I refuse to have the others come and show themselves to you, that would be foolish in the extreme. We would be jeopardizing ourselves and our Princess. I may already have alerted our enemy by merely showing myself to you.” Haruka said her eyes, for once, open to be read.

“Enemies? Have you endangered us and the Dojo? Merely by your presence there?” Kenshin asked his worry and budding anger shaking him from his shock.

“We have done nothing except for accepting Kaoru-sans hospitality. As for enemies and danger our presence anywhere is dangerous when we are fighting an enemy, however if we don't fight it is even more dangerous for the world.” Haruka answered, she released her transformation. She looked at Kenshin trying to will him to accept her words as the truth they were.

Kenshin thought for a moment, remembering how he had left Kaoru and the others for their own protection when he had gone after Shishio. He hadn't thought about how his mere presence in their lives had been dangerous for them merely that the mission he was going on was too dangerous for them to accompany him.

“I think, perhaps I can trust you, I'm not sure why I should or how much I trust you, but I do trust you,” the `for now' although left off of the end was heard by Haruka.

“Thank you Himura-san.” Haruka replied, “Also, I think it would be wise to return to the dojo before the others panic.” She graced him with one of her rare true smiles.

“Care to race?” Kenshin asked with a grin, hoping she'd agree to the race.

Haruka smiled, she could see the hope in Kenshin's eyes “Sounds good to me, from here to the dojo?”

“Let's go,” Kenshin said, and took off without waiting for her answer.

Haruka laughed and took off after him quickly catching up, so they were racing side by side.

Author's Notes:

There we have a little fun, why might you ask does Kenshin want a race. Well I think it's obvious, the chance to test his speed against that of the one who created his style of swordsmanship as well as against some one who isn't an enemy. You all owe this update to the one and only person who reviewed my last chapter Corrina I'm sorry but the next update will take a while as I've hit a snag that I need to fix.
