Chapter 1

A girl sat on a stool in the middle of a recording studio. She was currently tuning guitar. There were four others.

“Hey Maria!” the girl called Comet said. “Are you ready.”

“Yes,” I said.

“Alright,” the one called Luna said.

The music started and I began to play my guitar and prepared to sing.

“Your on,” the recorder said from the other room.

I sighed the closed my eyes as I began to sing.

“I thought I knew you,
How could I have been so wrong.
Maybe you have troubles,
That you don’t know how to share,
But I know I still care.
Because I can be a friend.
You can tell me anything,
Even if it’s crazy or bad,
Even if your angry or sad,
Yes, I can be a friend.
On a still until the end,
Lose our way and try again,
I can be a friend…”

“That was great,” the recorder said.

“Thanks,” I said.

“Alright, lets do “Once Upon A Dream,” Meteor said.

“Yeah,” the one called Starla said.

“Alright,” I answered preparing my guitar, while the others prepared their head phones.

“Alright, in 3...2...1..” the recorder said.

“Dancing bears, Painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings,
Once upon a December.

Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a Silver Storm,
Figures dancing gracefully,
Across my memory.

Comet:
Hmmm Hmmm
Hmmm Hmmm

Meteor:
Ahhh Ahhh
Ahhh Ahhh

Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a Silver Storm,
Figures dancing gracefully,
Across my memory.

Long Ago, Far Away
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
Things it yearns to Remember.

And a song someone sings,
Once upon a December…”

“Perfect,” the recorder said. “Alright that’s a wrap.”

“It’s about time,” Luna said. “We’ve been sitting here for the past four hours.”

“Isn’t it worth it,” Comet said. “We are one of the major top bands in all of Domino City, and top ten in the world.”

“I know but it’s boring still,” Luna said.

“You can’t sit still to save your life,” Starla said.

Luna stuck out her tongue at Starla.

“Knock it off you two,” Comet said.

I grinned and put my guitar on the table.

“Maria!”

I turned to see Mokaba coming towards me.

“Hey Mokaba,” I said. “What are doing here?”

“You said it was okay if I watched you practice,” he said. “And Seto said it was okay.”

“Is he here as well?” I asked feeling my heart beat faster.

I looked up as I felt a pair of eyes watching me. My eyes locked with Kaiba’s.

“Hello Kaiba,” I said. He nodded his head.

My cheerfulness quickly disappeared. Kaiba wasn’t normally cold around me. Mokaba noticed I wasn’t as cheerful and got an idea.

“Maria, I need help on a mythology project,” Mokaba asked. “You have more knowledge that’s true about dragons, unicorns, and other mythological beast. Could you come over and help me.

“Sure,” I said.

“Hey Maria!” Comet yelled from the doorway.

“What?” I said.

“Need a ride?” Starla asked.

“Uh, no,” I said. “You guys go ahead.”

“You sure?” Meteor said.

“Yeah,” I said turning and walking back on the stage.

“Maria you were great,” Mokaba said getting on the stage.

I smiled at him, “Thanks.”

“Seto thought so too,” he said.

Seto jumped as Mokaba mentioned that he liked it. I looked at him.

“Isn’t that right Seto,” Mokaba said.

“I did like it,” he said looking away.

I felt joy fill me when I noticed he still felt the same way about me, that I did about him. I was about to say something when… The doors flew open and a man in a black suit came in.

“Maria!” he growled.

“Kentoni,” I said with venom in my voice.

“You better keep your damn brother off my back,” Kentoni growled.

“Why should I,” I said.

“He’s been trying to send spies into my company,” he growled.

“Haha,” I laughed. “You call that junk museum a company.”

“Laugh all you want, but keep your brother in his place,” he growled.

“Not my concern,” I said turning away.

“Maria!” he growled.

“Look my brother and I haven’t exactly been on speaking terms,” I growled. “I’m not about to go and convince him to call back his men. Besides if he’s sending his men out, he suspects your up to something concerning the warriors.”

I eyed him as he winced.

“I’m not up to anything,” he growled. “If you remember, I signed the peace treaty with you and your friends. I am a man of honor, I would not break that treaty.”

I nodded, because I did know that he was a man of his word.

“If that is the case then I will try to find out why,” I said. “I’ll let you know what I find out.”

Kentoni nodded, then turned and left. Rolling my eyes I sighed.

“Looks like Jarkar’s causing trouble again,” a voice in my head said.

“Don’t start Silverbolt,” I answered back looking up to the huge falcon part eagle bird, that was invisible to all but my eyes at the moment.

“he…he,” Silverbolt laughed.

“If you don’t want to be turned into roast chicken,” I growled using my mind.

“I’m going, I’m going,” Silverbolt said flying towards the window. “Shesh.”

I sighed, then smiled, turning back to Kaiba and Mokaba.

“Hey Maria,” Mokaba said. “Can you sing that song “Once Upon A December” again.”

“Mokaba, you’ve already heard it,” Kaiba said.

“But, Seto,” Mokaba whined. “I want to hear just Maria.”

“It’s alright,” I said. I looked at Mokaba, “Alright, I’ll sing “Once Upon A December.”

Picking up my guitar and started to play sing.

“Dancing bears, Painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings,
Once upon a December.

Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a Silver Storm,
Figures dancing gracefully,
Across my memory.

Hmmm Hmmm
Hmmm Hmmm

Ahhh Ahhh
Ahhh Ahhh

Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a Silver Storm,
Figures dancing gracefully,
Across my memory.

Long Ago, Far Away
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
Things it yearns to Remember.

And a song someone sings…,
Once upon a December…”

“You’re a great singer,” Mokaba said.

Kaiba was also amazed, that he had let his guard down.

“Thanks Mokaba,” I said. I looked at the clock. “It’s late, I have to close the studio.”

I stood up and put my guitar away.

“I’ll help,” Mokaba said.

“You don’t have to,” I said.

“It’s okay,” Mokaba said putting Comet’s guitar away.

I smiled and started to pick the drums up when I felt the other end get picked up. I looked and saw Kaiba helping.

“Thanks Kaiba,” I said.

Even though he didn’t show any emotion, I knew he was smiling on the inside. I seemed to know these things, mostly because I was his girlfriend. He didn’t show his emotions much, mostly around Mokaba, or around me when it was just the two of us alone.

****       ****

The three of us walked out of the studio. Mokaba got into the limo that was waiting, but Kaiba remained outside.

“You don’t have a ride do you,“ he said.

I looked at him, “I’ll be fine walking.” I looked at the sky.

“I’ll give you a ride,” he said.

I looked at him, “Thanks…Seto.” I got in leaving him stunned. But then he smiled slightly and got in.

****       ****

Mokaba was asleep by the time we reached my house. Kaiba walked with me to the door.

“Why did you look so surprised at me calling you Seto,” I asked mischievously. “You did tell me on our little moonlight date at the lake I could call you by it.”

“You haven’t said it much since then,” he said.

“Well, you and I haven’t be alone since then for me to say it without Joey or the others embarrassing you,” I said blushing.

He looked at me.

“Seto?” Mokaba poked his head out of the limo.

“I’ll be right there Mokaba,” Kaiba said.

“See you tomorrow, Seto,” I said. Then before he could do or say anything I kissed his cheek and shot into the house.

He stood startled for a minute looking at the closed door then went back to the limo.

****       ****

I watched from the window as the limo drove away, gazing dreamily after it.

“Welcome back,” a voice said.

I looked over at Jakar.

“Hey Jakar,” I said.

Jakar was my older brother, he was nine years older than me.

“Where’s Kila?” I asked.

Kila was my younger sister, she was four years younger than me.

“She’s not back from her friend’s house yet,” he said. “What do you want for dinner?”

“It doesn’t matter,” I answered as he went into the kitchen.

The three of us lived together. Our father and mother were dead. Sighing I looked out the window, Kila was coming up the sidewalk.

“Hey there,” I said as she opened the door and walked in.

“Hi big sis,” she said. “Was the studio closed early.”

“Yeah,” I said. “Just for today.”

Normally I would stay and practice at the studio. Mostly because that was my job. I was a singer and had a band called the Starlights. I was also the part owner of Dual Fantasy Island. Jakar was the top business owner of Star City. It was named after our family. We moved to Domino City so the three of us could be together. Kila needed to go to school and Domino was one of the best cities with high tech schools. I went to the high school, Domino High. I was in all of Kaiba’s classes.

“What’s for dinner?” Kila asked placing her backpack on the couch.

“Ask Jakar,” I said looking out the window.

“Were having rice and tacos,” Jakar said from the kitchen.

I yawned and laid back against the couch. I closed my eyes and fell into sleep.

****       ****
“Hey Maria, dinner,” Jakar called from the kitchen.

Yawning I stood up and went into the kitchen. Sitting down I grabbed a taco.

“Oh, I almost forgot,” I looked at Jakar. “Kentoni came into the studio pissed today. What are you up to?”

“Oh, that,” Jakar chuckled. “I don’t know why he brought you into it. We’ve been pissing each other off a lot. It’s become a routine between us. He must really be tired of it to go to you.”

“Well, whatever,” I said. “Just knock it off, I don’t like people just barging into the studio.”

“Mmm,” Jakar chuckled.

“Shut up,” I snapped, my eyes flashing.

“By the way,” Jakar said. “Who’s limo was that outside earlier?”

“Oh,” I eyed him. “It was Kaiba’s.”

“Yeah, your boyfriend,” Kila giggled.

I turned on her.

“Boyfriend?” Jakar said seriously.

“Don’t start with that lecture crap,” I growled. “It’s not up to you who my boyfriend is or not.”

“Maria,” Jakar said. “How long have you two been going out,” he said seriously.

“A year,” I said.

“Maria…” he said.

“Drop it,” I said getting up. I placed my plate on the sink and headed up the stairs.

****       ****

Slamming my door shut, I went over to my radio and turned it on. One of my favorite songs were playing, “It’s My Life”. I sat down on my windowsill and watched the stars in the sky. I could easily make out different shapes. I saw regular planetary constellations, but I also saw shapes of many other creatures. I could make out the shape of unicorns, cats, wolves, different birds, and even ones that looked like humans. I didn’t notice that the images in my head were turning to a certain handsome brownish gold haired teenager only a year older than me.

“Whoa,” I shook my head. “Where did that come from.”

Though it wa true that Kaiba was my boyfriend. We didn’t really act like boyfriend and girlfriend when others were around. His pride and honor would be injured especially when Joey, probably, wouldn’t keep his mouth shut.

“Oohh,” sighing I looked out the window. “Oh Kaiba, you and your damn pride.”

Sometimes I wished that he wouldn’t let his pride get in the way when he’s around me, even if Yugi and his friends were around. But then it was that stubbornness and pride that I had learned to love. I knew that deep in my heart I didn’t want anything to change.

A star suddenly streaked across the sky. I closed my eyes and made a wish on the star that Kaiba would get the courage to ask me out on another date.

*ring ring*

“Hello,” I said picking up the phone.

** “Hello Maria,” came Kaiba’s voice. **

I felt my heart enter my throat.

“Hi Kaiba,” I said, thanking god I didn’t stutter.

** “You don’t have plans tomorrow, do you?” he asked. **

“No,” I said sitting down.

** “Mokaba was wondering if you could come over tomorrow and take him to theme park,” he said. **

“Is it really Mokaba wanting to come or you wanting to be with me, eh Seto,” I teased playfully.

** silence on the other line **

“Sure, I’ll pick you guys up around 11:00 tomorrow morning,” I said. “And Seto, you don’t have to hide your feelings from me.”

I could almost picture him frozen on the other line.

“Goodnight Seto,” I said lovingly.

** He chuckled lightly, barely audible* “Goodnight Maria,” he said. **

Smiling and feeling happy I hung up and collapsed on my bed grinning like a Cheshire Cat.”

*knock knock*

“Come in,” I yelled.

“Maria who was that on the phone?” Jakar asked coming in, he stopped when he saw the glowing look on my face.

“It was Kaiba,” I said. “Mokaba, his little brother, wants to visit Dual Fantasy Island.”

“Maria…” Jakar started.

“Uh, Oh,” I thought. “Here comes the boyfriend lecture.”

“Don’t start with your lectures,” I said.

“Maria you deserve someone who will treat you better than him,” he said. “You’ve been moping around for months and it’s because he’s never returned or shown any feelings.”

“How do you know!” I snapped.

“Kila told me,” he said.

“That brat!” I thought.

“Jakar, Kaiba isn’t one to express feelings openly in front of others,” I suddenly got a dreamy look. “But…all this time I’ve been with him, I’ve seen emotions others are unable to spot.”

“Maria,” Jakar said.

“Jakar listen,” I said. “Kaiba may not show it, but I know he cares about me, because…he has already told me that he will never let anything happen to me.

Jakar stayed silent, “he said that.”

“Yes,” I looked out the window. “He has promised me that and I know with all my heart he would.”

“He promised that, what would have happened for him to promise that,” Jakar thought.

“I hope he doesn’t ask what happened, how could I ever tell him about Dualist Island and helping Kaiba free Mokaba,” I thought.

I had also helped Kaiba by getting in the way of Pegasus’s Millennium Eye. It was after we had been released from the cards, that I told him my feelings. In his own way he had told me he had feelings for me.

Kaiba and I had been going out for a year since then. He was still mostly the same Kaiba everyone knew, but there were times when he showed his emotions, mostly around Mokaba. But, he did show his emotions, a little, when he was around me. After how long I’ve known him I’ve been able to tell his emotions even when he wasn’t showing them.

Jakar noticed I had gone into another daydream so he waved a hand in front of me.

I blinked and looked up at him.

“Goodnight, Don’t stay up too late,” he said walking towards the door.

“Night,” I said. “and Jakar…”

“Hmm,” he said looking at me.

“Thanks…for understanding,” I said lying on my bed and pulling up the covers.

“Your welcome…” he said softly as he turned the lights off and left.

I sighed as I heard the door close. I closed my eyes, looking forward to tomorrow.

Chapter 2

I opened my eyes and looked around. There were ruins of a long forgotten place. A strange panel in the ground caught my eye. Walking over to it, I saw a moon crescent on it. As I looked at the markings on the poles around the panel, I relized where I was. I was on the moon, these were the ruins of my home from long ago.

I placed my hand upon the larger pole with a huge yellow moon crescent. A bright light surrounded me. I cried out as flashbacks of my past passed before my eyes. The scenery changed and so did I.

****(1st change of scenery)****

I was running along a path trying to beat my friend in a race.

“Maria, wait up,” called a young boy about ten. I laughed and kept going.

“Beat you Jedda,” I laughed standing on the edge of the palace walkway.

“Yeah, you win princess,” young Jedda said. “Next time I’ll win.”

“In your dreams,” I laughed.

“I’m older,” he laughed.

“Only by two years,” I said the gleefully ran towards the woman coming up the steps followed by a teenager about eighteen.

“Mamma, Jakar-kun,” the queen went to one knee and put her arms out in a hug.

“Hey kuja,” Jakar said.

“I’M NOT A KUJA!” I stomped on his foot really hard.

“Damn,” he said nursing his injured foot. “How can a squirt be so strong.”

“Jakar watch your language in front of your sister!” the queen yelled.

“Yes mother,” he said.

“Mamma,” I looked up at her.

“What is it dear?” she asked.

“Why are boys so cruel?” I asked.

“Some aren’t,” she answered, moving the hair falling in front of my eyes.

****(1st change of scenery ends)****

Another scenery appeared and I changed again.

****(2nd change of scenery)****

Eighteen year old Jedda walked up to twenty-five year old Prince Jakar.

“Everybody is getting ready, all the royal families from other planets and the ones who are to become your sister’s guardians will be here soon,” Jedda said.

“Thank you,” Prince Jakar answered. “Today my sister turns sixteen and has her coming out ceremony, I will make sure everything is perfect for her.”

“Jakar is it true, what they say?” Jedda asked.

“About?” Jakar turned to Jedda.

“That the princess will have five more guardians along with the planetary guardians,” Jedda said.

“Yes, but the five were chosen the day she was born,” Jakar said. “You know of Mystic, don’t you.”

“The princesses unicorn,” Jedda said. “Yes.”

“She is one of the five guardians,” Jakar said. “She has a strong bond with Maria, and has protected her from danger from her birth. The other four will show today, Maria has already met them, so she will know when they arrive.”

“Whoa,” Jedda said amazed at what was said as he looked over the land of the Moon Kingdom.

“Jakar-kun,” a voice said.

Jakar turned to see me and Mystic standing in the door to the palace wall walkway. He noticed I looked nervous.

“Nervous about the ceremony,” he laughed.

“No,” I snapped. I then looked away. “Well…maybe…a little…”

Jakar smiled and placed a hand on my shoulder, “Don’t worry you’ll be fine.”

“Thanks Jakar-kun,” I said. I looked up and gasped.

Jakar followed my gaze and saw black energy heading straight for the palace.

“Get her inside!” Jakar said pushing me towards Jedda.

One of the black energy’s hit right near us. When it disappeared a warrior in black armor stood in it’s place.

“It’s a Nether Warrior,” I said.

“Get my sister inside!” Jakar said more sternly.

“Please, let’s go princess,” Mystic said raising her horn as it glowed.

“I’m not leaving Jakar,” I said pulling away from Jedda.

Just as I started to run towards them, the warrior shot energy at me. My eyes widened, but something in my mind told me what to do. My hands shot up in front of me. An energy shield appeared around me and the energy beam disappeared.

“What,” the warrior said cursing. “So you’re the one were here for.”

I backed up as the warrior started towards me with his sword prepared to strike. Jakar stepped in-between us.

“Your not going anywhere near my sister,” Jakar growled, holding his own sword up.

“In that case I will kill you, then your dear little sister,” the warrior growled.

Within seconds the warrior and Jakar were battling. I watched as my brother battled. The battle raged for nearly five minutes. We thought my brother was winning until…

Jakar went to bring down his sword on the warrior when…the warrior disappeared and reappeared behind him.

“Jakar behind you!” I yelled.

Jakar spun around only to have a sword pushed into his chest right near his heart, blood spilling from the wound and covering the ground.

I gasped and started forward, but Jedda’s arms kept me from moving.

Jakar slumped to the ground as his eyes closed, blood surrounding him.

“JAKAR!!!!!NO!!!!!!”

****       ****

I sprang forward in my bed, sweat clinging to my skin as the door to my room burst open. Jakar shot in next to my side.

“Maria!” His arms went around me as I sobbed into his shoulder.

Sobbing still, I told him about my dream. He flinched when I told him the last part.

“It’s alright,” he said rubbing my back. “I’m here now, that’s in the past now.”

“Even…if…it’s in…the past,” I said still sobbing. “It’s still painful.”

“I know,” he said. “I’ve already received those memories. I was hoping you wouldn’t. You’ve been through enough, you don’t deserve to be tortured by those memories.”

“But it had been my fault,” I sobbed. “If I had listened and went with Jedda, you wouldn’t have been killed.”

“It wasn’t your fault,” he said sternly, looking down at me. “I would’ve been killed by the warrior even if you had gone. That warrior was stronger than me.”

“But…” I started.

“It wasn’t your fault, don’t keep blaming yourself,” he sighed. “Maria, for four-hundred years you have proven your strong and loyal. Don’t let these memories bring you down. Your never going to be alone again.”

“Thank you, Jakar,” I said laying my head on his shoulder.

“Sis…are you alright,” Kila asked from the doorway.

“I’m alright now, Kila,” I said. She ran up to us and climbed up next to me.

“Want me to stay,” she asked. I smiled at her as she curled up. I hugged her then laid my head down.

Jakar stayed until I fell asleep again, then stood up and turned the light off as he left.

****       ****

I opened my eyes looking out the window.

“That dream again,” I said sitting up.

It has been a month since the night I had that dream and the night, Kaiba called. Jakar had gone back to the Star Mansion in Star City, the family mansion. I remained here to stay beside my friends and boyfriend. Kila also remained, she had said she wanted to remain here with me. Sighing I stood up and went over to the window. It has been not even a couple of weeks since Jakar left.

Jakar had wanted me to come back with him, but I had refused. As much as I missed the friends I had in Star City, I didn’t belong there. So now it was just me and Kila.

Getting dressed in my low-rise jeans and a blue spaghetti strapped tank, I put on my tennis shoes and headed downstairs to fix breakfast.

****       ****

Three hours later, around 9:00, Kila came downstairs.

“Good morning big sister,” she said.

“Good morning, Kila,” I said placing a plate of eggs, sausage, and toast in front of her.

“How long have you been up,” she asked as I sat down at the table beside her.

“Since 6:00,” I answered, leaning back in my chair.

“You haven’t gotten much sleep since Jakar-kun left,” Kila said. “Are you alright.”

“I’m fine,” I said tapping her head. “I’ve just been under a lot of stress lately. The Starlights album comes out soon and so we have to be ready for the concert we’ll be playing for the opening.”

“Hey, isn’t the opening going to be sponsored by Kaiba Corp.?” Kila asked.

“Yeah,” I said. “Kaiba’s already giving permission that we can play in front of Kaiba Corp. main building. His company helps pay for our equipment, so he’s one of our sponsors.”

“Who’s the other sponsor,” Kila asked.

“Dual Fantasy Island,” I said asked.

“That’s your corporation though,” Kila said.

“Yeah, but some of the money we make there goes towards our band,” I said. “So I’m sponsoring it too.”

Kila shook her head as I chuckled at the look on her face.

*knock knock*

“Who could that be,” I said getting up and going to the door.

I opened the door to find Kaiba and Mokaba there.

“Hey Maria,” Mokaba said. “We didn’t mean to startle you.”

I just blinked because I was startled.

Catching on, I said, “Oh, it’s alright, come in.”

I stepped aside allowing them to come in when I saw a bus pull up.

“Kila! Your gonna be late!” I yelled.

*crash*

“Shit!” she yelled.

“Kila!” I yelled.

“Sorry!” she yelled.

She came running out of the kitchen with her backpack in one hand and toast in her other, nearly slamming into Mokaba.

“Oh, Sorry,” she said to Mokaba.

“It’s okay,” he said as she hurried up in putting on her shoes.

“Bye sis,” she yelled getting up and running towards the bus.

“Be careful,” I yelled back as she got on the bus. The bus then started on it’s way.

I sighed running my hand through my long midnight-black hair, Kaiba and Mokaba stood by the couch.

“Do you want anything to drink,” I asked them as I shut the door.

“Do you have punch?” Mokaba asked.

“Yeah,” I said. “What about you Seto.” I had taken to call him Seto even when Mokaba was around.

“I’m fine,” he said looking really annoyed.

I giggled and went to the kitchen to get some punch for Mokaba.

“I hope you like Hawaiian,” I said coming out. “Its all we have left of the punch right now. I haven’t exactly gone out lately to the store since Jakar left.”

“It’s fine, I love Hawaiian,” Mokaba said taking it.

“How long has it been just you and your younger sister?” Kaiba asked.

I sighed sitting down and laying my head against the base of the couch, “Almost a month.”

I looked out the window, “He wanted me and Kila to go with him, but I refused and Kila remained here with me, She never really cared for that mansion anyway.”

“What bus was that?” Mokaba asked.

“Oh, that was Computer Tech. And Drawing,” I said. “What with the studio and running Dual Fantasy Island I haven’t been able to be home much, so Kila need somewhere to go. Their classes are running at Dual Fantasy Island, so she’s normally helping me out. Their job is to assist those at the park, and since I’m her older sister, they made her my assistant at the park. But today they’re having a field trip, so I’m not needed.”

“Oh,” Mokaba said.

I sighed and looked out the window. Yawning I leaned back against the couch, Kaiba was watching me.

“You alright?” he asked.

“Huh,” I said lifting my head. “Yeah, I’m alright, just tired.”

“You’ve been tired a lot lately,” Mokaba said. “Haven’t you been sleeping?”

“A little,” I said.

“What’s wrong?” Kaiba asked. I looked at him, he had a blank face, but his eyes held concern.”

“I…” I started when a phone rang.

Kaiba answered his cell. He talked for about five minutes.

“We’ve got to leave,” he said to Mokaba as he hung up.

My shoulders slumped as they stood up.

“I did say we,” he said. I looked up to see him holding out a hand. I smiled as I took it and walked beside him to the limo.

He waited till I got in to get in, then looked at the drive, “Kaiba Corp. Main Building.”

“Right away, Mr. Kaiba,” the driver said as the window in-between the front and back went up.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

“Pegasus’s men are at the main building,” he answered.

“What!” I said, my eyes widening. “I thought Pegasus was still in the hospital because someone stole his millennium eye.” I already knew that, I just didn’t know who, yet.

“He was,” Kaiba said.

“Then my would his men be…” I suddenly gasped as a vision from my Millennium Lunar Necklace. My necklace is similar to Isis’s, but isn’t one of the main seven.

“What’s wrong?” Kaiba asked. He gasped as I slumped forward. His arms quickly caught me.

“Something’s near,” I said. “Someone with a millennium item.”

Kaiba looked out the window too see Yugi and his friends near the Game Shop. Yugi’s Millennium Puzzle was glowing.

“Stop next to the Game Shop,” Kaiba said into the intercom that went to the front.

“Yes, Mr. Kaiba,” the driver said.

****       ****

Yugi and his friends looked up to see the limo pull up and Kaiba getting out, a hand on my shoulder.

“It’s that jerk,” Joey growled, slamming his fist together.

“Joey wait,” Tea said.

“Isn’t that Maria,” Mai said, she was also with them. She stood next to Serenity.

“Yeah,” Tristan said.

“Hey Kaiba,” Yugi said.

Mokaba got out of the limo, “Hey Yugi.”

“What’s wrong with Maria?” Tea asked, just as a beam shot from my necklace to the Millennium Puzzle.

“What?” Joey said as Yami appeared in front of all them.

Yugi’s eyes went wide, Yami was no longer in the Millennium Puzzle.

“Why?” Yami asked looking at me.

I slumped against Kaiba, his arms holding me up.

My eyes had a trans-like look, “You now have your own body, but you still have to combine with Yugi during battles.”

Suddenly my eyes turned normal and I stood straight up looking at the others.

“What was that?” Mokaba asked.

“That,” I said. “Was the power of my Millennium Star Necklace. As the guardian of the Millennium Items, I can separate the ancient souls within the Millennium Items. But…I cannot make it so for battles, my powers still haven’t reached that point.”

“That’s right,” Tea said. “I had almost forgotten, Maria is the Guardian of the Millennium Items.”

“Where’s your staff you had on Duelist Island,” Joey asked.

“Right here,” I said holding out my hand and my staff appeared.

Suddenly a chill went up my spine. I spun around to see someone in the shadows.

“Come Out!” I growled.

A demon looking creature stepped into the light.

“Hello…Sailor Star Moon,” the creature said.

“How…?” I said stepping back. “How do you know I’m Sailor Star Moon.”

“Your moon staff and that black hidden crescent on your forehead, the sign of…” he said. “TheDark Star Moon Princess, Supreme Princess Maria, half-sister to Princess Serena, the dark half of the moon kingdom.”

My eyes went wide as disk as my staff fell to the ground.

*clatter*

“Your…” I gasped.

“Yes,” he said. “I am a Demon Warrior of the Black Moon Shadow realm. And I’ve come to destroy you. You stand in our way Millennium Guardian.”

Black energy surrounded him, “I call upon the darkness of the shadow realm, Shadow Ball Blaze!!”

He shot a energy ball towards me.

Throwing my staff in front of Kaiba, Mokaba, and I, a shield appeared disintegrating the blast.

“You are a fool!” I yelled. “You chose the wrong person to attack, DARK STAR MOON CRYSTAL POWER!”

My sailor suit appeared. Bringing my moon star staff up, I twirled it in one hand than aimed it at the warrior.

“I am Sailor Dark Star Moon, Lunar Champion of love and Justice, I shall right wrongs and triumph over evil, And…that means you!” I yelled.

“Wait a minute,” I thought.  “I’m starting to talk like my half-sister, I said that stupid annoying speech, oh well.”

Yugi and the others, even Kaiba and Mokaba were staring. They had known about the Millennium Guardian stuff, but not that I was Sailor Dark Star Moon or a Princess.

“Hahaha, you really think you can win,” the demon said.

“I don’t think, I know!” I brought my staff up as I twirled it. “Dark..Moon…Star…Cosmic…Heart…Attack!”< br>
A huge light up black heart surrounded the demon and when it went through him, he turned to dust.

I did my trademark twirl,” You lose!”

“Whoa,” Joey said.

“Shit,” I yelled. “Jakar’s gonna kill me.”

My suit disappeared as I slumped to my knees. I had just done a big mistake.

“Why would Jakar kill you,” Mokaba said.

I groaned standing up and turning to them, “Thanks to that demon, I just let out the big Sailor Dark Star Moon and Dark Moon Princess secret.”

“So the star family your from, is the royal star family,” Tristan said.

“Yeah,” I said. “It was supposed to be kept secret, so I could have a normal life. Well…as normal as it can be when you’re the millennium guardian.”

“Cool,” Joey said.

I rolled my eyes, “Well, Well, Princess clutz let’s out the secret.”

I spun around. “Mars,” I growled through gritted teeth.

Mars and the other three Scouts appeared.

“Looks like Miss. Clutz let out the secret, just her like her sister Serena clutz,” Mars said with a hand on her hip.

I rolled my eyes and signaled Kaiba and the others to follow me, We started walking away.

“Hey!” Mars yelled.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” I said turning around and pretending to have a sheepish look on my face. “I thought you were done.”

“Mars knock it off,” Venus said with a hand on her head.

“Yeah, get off her case for once,” Jupiter said. “She’s not like Serena, so unlike Serena she won’t cry, she’ll drive you into the ground till your saying hi to the grim reaper.”

Mars quieted and sighed, “Fine…”

They powered down to their normal forms. I powered down as well.

“Let’s head to my house,” I said. “Everything will be explained there.”

They all nodded.

****       ****

Within a hour everyone was at my house. I was sitting next to Kaiba, who amazingly didn’t mind that the others were there. It took three whole hours to explain everything about our Sailor Forms, me being Sailor Star Moon and the Moon Princess, Serena’s sister, all the way up to the Millennium Items.

“So Kila is also a princess?” Mokaba asked.

“Yes, and Jakar is a prince, but…” I looked at the ground. “We have different fathers. Serena’s and Kila’s father was a strong human warrior, But Jakar’s and mine was…a demon.”

“Your father was a demon?” Mokaba said, eyes going wide.

“Yeah,” I said.

“Yes, but you’re the one who holds the demon blood,” Amy said.

“Don’t remind me,” I said turning stiff.

“Doesn’t Jakar have demon blood?” Mokaba said.

“No,” I said. “Somehow he is was full human, While I’m full-bloodied demon. Nobody’s been able to tell why I have full blood while Jakar has none. But…” I looked at my hands. “It was because of this blood that I was an outcast of the Moon kingdom.”

“That’s not true,” Raye said as I looked at her. “You’ve always had us as friends and despite your demon blood, you have the purest heart and are kinder than anyone I’ve ever known.”

“Thanks,” I said, she grinned.

“Your still a clutz,” she said.

“Rei,” I growled.

“Just kidding!” she laughed. “I do the same to Serena.”

“Not funny,” I said as the doorbell rang.

I got up and walked to the door. As soon as I opened it three shadows shot passed me.

“What the…” I said startled. I closed the door and turned and grew even more surprised.

“Thunder, Lightning, Nightstalker!” I cried.

Two black as night werewolves with green eyes stood in the middle of the room. Plus a black panther with green eyes.

“Sorry to startle you princess,” Thunder said, the werewolf that was just a bit taller than the other.

“Jakar sensed that your powers were activated and sent us here,” Lightning, the youngest said.

“Damn,” I growled. “That means he knows the secrets out.” I looked at them as they nodded. “I’m in trouble…” They nodded again.

I sighed, “I hate when this happens, thank god Kila isn’t here.”

“Where is she?” Amy asked.

“A special school that is at Duel Fantasy Island,” I said. “Today they get a free day and are going on a field trip to a campsite on a small island that a good ways past the park.”

“Princess,” Thunder said, as I started to walk pass. “Your brother wishes for you to return to the Star Mansion with us.”

“More like demanded,” Lightning said. “He told us to do whatever it takes to get you to come with us. But we knew no matter how mad he gets, you’d remain here, so we’ll remain here as well.”

“Thanks, Thunder, Lightning,” I said. They smiled and nodded. “But Kila should return to Star Mansion.”

I shook my head, “I won’t be able to protect her and take out whoever this new enemy is.” Suddenly I got an idea. “Amy, you four will be returning to the mansion, right.”

“Yes,” Amy said. “Now that your five warrior guardians have arrived we’ll be returning.”

“I want you take Kila back with you,” I said.

“I’m not leaving you big sister,” came Kila’s voice from the door. Everyone looked toward the door.

“Kila…” I said sighing. “If you remain, your likely to become a target.”

“Maria…” she protested. I walked over to her and got down so I was eye level with her.

“Kila, please,” I pleaded. “I’ve watched too many people in my family get killed, you and Jakar are the only family I have left. Go with them, I want to be able to know your safe.”

Kila’s eyes softened, “I’ll go, for you big sister.”

I smiled and hugged her tightly whispering, “Thank you.”

“We’ll leave in the morning,” Mina said. “We’ll be here at 7:00 to pick you up, make sure your ready.”

“Why that early?” Kila asked.

“This was we can get passed the enemy,” Amy said.

Everyone stopped as they heard snoring and turned to see Joey and Tristan sleeping. Yami grinned and Yugi backed up as a electricity-like beam shot at them.

“YIKES!” Joey shouted. “I’m up!” Tristan was currently putting out the fire on his sleeves.

“Who did that?” he asked, when he noticed Yami. “Oh, the spirit.”

Suddenly I remembered something, “Speaking of spirit, I’ve got to separate Ryou and Bakura Tomb Robber.”

“You mean Mr. Evil from the Millennium Ring?” Joey asked.

“No Pegasus, of course that Bakura, Dog,” Kaiba said. Everyone froze, Kaiba, joking, not normal.

“Why you!” Joey shot up ready to pulverize Kaiba. “Don’t call me a dog!”

“As you wish puppy,” Kaiba answered with a cocky look.

“That cocky attitude of yours is really pissing me off,” Joey yelled.

“Really,” Kaiba said smirking. “Puppy.”

“That does it,” Joey yelled shooting at Kaiba.

“THAT’S ENOUGH!” I yelled. “Joey sit down, he’s only trying to get a reaction out of you.”

“Yeah, well he got one,” Joey growled from within punching distance from Kaiba.

Just as his fist was about to hit Kaiba, I got in-between causing me to be slammed into Kaiba.

“Big sister!” Kila yelled.

Joey’s eyes went wide as Kaiba helped me up, his face voided of any emotion.

“Big sister, are you alright,” Kila asked running to my side.

I winced but looked at her, “Don’t worry, I’ve been hit with worse.”

I looked at the others.

“Maria, why did you…” Mai started when her eyes suddenly widened realizing something, she gave me a questioning look.

I smiled and nodded my head to her unspoken question. Tea looked at her and soon relized as well. Eventually everyone relized what it meant too.

“You’re his…” Joey stuttered.

“Yep,” Mokaba said cheerfully. “She’s Seto’s girlfriend.”

Joey and almost all the others fell over Anime style.

“No wonder she got in the way,” Joey muttered.

“Consider your self lucky,” I said. “If I had let you hit him, you would’ve been creamed.”

“I could’ve won!” Joey yelled.

“Oh, yeah, sure,” I said rolling my eyes. “Just like on Duelist Island, if I remember, he creamed ya.”

Joey turned red as he remembered the defeat. I grinned as Kila gave me a washcloth, I wiped the blood from the side of my mouth.

“So how long has this been going on,” Mai asked as Kaiba, who’d given Mokaba a glare, gave her a glare.

“A year and a few months,” I said. Mai’s eyes widened.

Kila and Mokaba were currently whispering together.

“Let me guess,” Tea said. “The two “children” knew.”

“Hey, who are you calling a kid,” Kila said. “That reminds me, Jakar-kun nearly went through the roof when he found out.

“KILA!” I yelled.

“Hehe, it’s true,” she jumped out of the was as I made a grab for her. “He even gave her a lecture about it.”

“KILLLAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!” I yelled as I began to glow.

“Yikes!!” she yelled, she grabbed Mokaba’s hand and they rushed upstairs as I was their heels.

But on the third step from the bottom my foot slip and I fell backwards. But the floor never came. I opened my eyes to find Kaiba had caught me and I was leaning right against his chest. My face turned blood red, while two miscreants giggled from the top of the stairs. Yugi and the others came in to find my face blood red, and Kaiba with hint of blush, as well as me in his arms.

“Ha…” Joey laughed as he was about to say something.

*slap*

Joey rubbed his head to see Serenity with her hands on her hips.

“Serenity?” Joey whined. He sighed and crossed his arms, while the others snickered.

Kaiba, somehow didn’t feel embarrassed. How, he didn’t know. He may not have, but I did. I slightly backed up as the others snickered.

“Oh, dear,” Tea said looking at her watch. “I’ve got to leave, mom’s gonna be mad.”

“We better leave too, Joey,” Serenity said.

“Bye Maria,” Mina said as she, the girls, and Yugi and his friends left.

Soon it was just me and Kaiba standing in the hall. My face was still blood red. I could feel Kaiba’s eyes on me.

“I’m sorry…” I said.
“For what?” he asked.

“Embarrassing your pride in front of Yugi and his friends,” I replied.

I felt him step closer and place a finger under my chin, bringing my eyes up to his. I got lost as I looked in his eyes. To him, my forest green eyes seemed to sparkle.

“Why did you get in the way of Wheeler’s punch?” he asked.

I tightened my fist together as my eyes dropped, “I didn’t want to watch you get hurt.”

I felt him step even closer and I looked into his blue eyes, “It’s because…I…love you.”

I looked at the ground, afraid of rejection. If he rejected me, I knew I’d die right there. I felt my chin being pushed up and our eyes locking with his head just inches from mine.

“And I…love you,” he whispered as he lowered his head closer.

I felt my heart explode and I closed my eyes as his lips pressed against mine. He groaned as my arms slid against his chest, going around his neck. I moaned when his arms slid around my waist. He slanted his head to deepen the kiss as his tongue ran along my bottom lip, asking permission. I parted my lips gasping when his tongue ran along mine. Becoming bolder I slid my tongue against his making him groan.

****       ****

Kila and Mokaba grinned from where they sat at the top of the stairs. Standing up they went to Kila’s room to play playstation, smiling because their plan worked.

****       ****

Kaiba and I broke apart gasping for air. I sighed and leaned my head against his chest as he held me.

“Ya know, I think those two planned this,” I said looking up at him.

“I’m starting to think that too,” he said, his emotionless mask gone.

“But ya know,” I looking at him. “Their plan worked.”

He sighed as he held me with one arm, his other hand rubbing the side of his head.

I smiled and leaned my head on his chest, “I like you this way, don’t ever change.”

He looked at me, feeling the walls of stone he had put up around himself completely fall down.

“Mokaba and I have to go,” he said kissing my forehead.

“So soon,” I pouted.

He smiled, “Yeah, I’ve got to get Mokaba home.”

“Alright,” I said still pouting. He chuckled, he thought I looked cute when I pouted.

****       ****

We looked in Kila’s room but they weren’t there, that’s when I heard noise coming from my room. We walked into my room to find the t.v. on and a duel going on. Kila and Mokaba were asleep on the floor.

“They must’ve come in here to watch the dueling tournaments.” I said. “Kila’s room doesn’t have cable.”

I shut the t.v. off, then tried picking Kila up. Kaiba picked her up and placed her on my bed as I pulled the covers up around her. He lightly shook Mokaba’s shoulder.

“Mmm,” Mokaba slowly opened his eyes. He grinned when he saw us.

“Did it work?” he asked sleepily.

I grinned shaking my head, “trouble maker.” He grinned.

“Come on,” Kaiba said as we headed downstairs.

****       ****

Kaiba had just finished calling his limo and Mokaba had fallen sleep on the couch. I leaned on Kaiba’s shoulder and watched as his limo pulled up. I sighed and looked up at him as he kissed my forehead.

“Bye, Seto,” I said.

He grinned and kissed my lips. I groaned as our tongues met. I was gasping for air when we broke apart.

“Night, love,” he said lightly pecking my check. My eyes widened, but a grin formed when I saw a small smile on his lips.

He walked over and picked up Mokaba. I watched as he placed Mokaba in the limo, then he turned towards me. He smiled and got in the limo. I waited until the limo was out of sight to close the door and lock it. I sighed happily.

****       ****

After getting some ice water, I went up to my room and changed into my night dress.

“Did it work,” came Kila’s sleepy voice.

I looked at her and nodded my head, she smiled.

“So,” she said. “What happened?”

“None of your business,” I said. “Besides it’s 10:00, get some sleep, your getting up at 6:00am.”

She sighed and laid back closing her eyes, I smiled and laid down, Kaiba’s kiss was still in my mind, leaving my lips still with a tingling feeling.

Smiling I closed my eyes and fell asleep happier than ever.

Chapter 3

*beep beep*

I yawned as I shut off the alarm. Stretching my arms, I noticed Kila was still sleeping.

“Kila,” I said, lightly shaking her shoulder. “It’s 6:00, you have to get ready.”

She groaned in frustration and opened her eyes yawning, “I’m uuuuup.”

I got up and got dressed as she woke herself up by going in the bathroom and splashing her face with cold water. I headed downstairs to make breakfast. As I was making breakfast the doorbell rang.

*ding dong*

“Hello,” I said opening the door.

“Hello Maria,” Kaiba stood on the steps with Mokaba.

“Kaiba? Mokaba?” I looked confused.

“I came to say bye to Kila,” Mokaba said.

I smiled and turned to the stairs as Kila came down.

“Hey Mokaba,” she said.

“Hey Kila,” Mokaba said.

“Come on in, I’m just making breakfast for Kila,” I said. “Do you want anything?”

“We ate before we came over,” kaiba stated.

“Alright,” I said. “I’ll just get some drinks.”

Thunder, Lightning, and Nightstalker appeared.

“Mina and the others will be here soon,” Thunder said.

“Thank you, Thunder,” I said, as Kila made a sour face. “Come now, you agreed to go.”

“I agreed to go,” she said. “But I didn’t say anything about not hating it.”

I grinned as a placed a plate in front of her, “If Jakar heard you, he’d say you’ve been hanging around me too long.”

****       ****

An hour later the door bell rang again.

“That must be them,” I said.

Sure enough, when I opened the door, Mina, Rei, Amy, and Lita walked in.

“Hello, Maria,” Mina said as they followed me into the kitchen.

“You ready, Kila?” Amy asked.

“Yes,” Kila said. She looked as me as her eyes had a sad look.

“Don’t give me that look,” I said sighing. “Besides, Jakar’s gonna be there.”

“Yeah, but he’s not the fun to be around,” she said. “Not like you, he’s always so serious.”

“That’s because he’s the oldest,” I said. “He’s always been serious so he could take care of us.”

“I know that,” Kila said. She suddenly gave me a hug. “Bye big sister.”

“Good bye, Kila,” I said. “Don’t worry, we’ll see each other again.”

“Please don’t die big sis,” she said.

“Don’t worry your big sister is stronger than any of us,” Amy said. “She’ll be fine.”

“You bet,” I said winking at Kila. “I’ll kick their buts to the next century, your talking to the lunar champion of love and justice.” My face went into a groan, “god, give serena a kick for me. She got that damn speech in my head, uhhh.”

Kila giggled, “sure thing big sis.”

“Not to mention the best warrior with a sword,” Lita said.

“Yeah, known as the mighty shadow sla…umph,” my hand went over Rei’s mouth before she could finish.

“That’s something she doesn’t need to know,” I said dangerously with venom in my voice. My tone dangerously soft.

Kaiba and the others just watched.

Amy shook her head, “Rei, you shouldn’t have brought that up.”

The other scouts nodded. They knew my past history was something Kila didn’t need to know.

“You mean Shadow Slayer,” Kila said quietly.

My whole body went numb as I looked at Kila, “When…”

“Jakar told me,” she said, my eyes went wide. “He…made me promise not to mention it, because of how much it would hurt you to remember.”

I shook my head and placed a hand on her head, “I don’t know why he told you, but that is something you shouldn’t have to deal with.”

“I’m sorry for bringing it up,” Kila said. I smiled and hugged her.

“It’s fine,” I said quietly. “Now, get your stuff so you can get started.”

“Alright,” she said. She hugged me and ran up the stairs to grab her bag.

I stood up as I watched her with sad eyes, I felt eyes on my back. Looking I caught Kaiba’s look, I sent him a look that said “I’ll explain later,” before turning back to the others.

****       ****

Five minutes later Kila and the scouts were leaving.

“Bye Maria,” the scouts said as the got in the car. I waved from where I stood in the doorway.

Watching as they drove away, I sighed. I closed the door and arms went around my waist. I leaned back against Kaiba’s chest sighing.

“You alright,” he asked, his voice still normal.

“I’m not sure,” I said shaking my. “You want to know what all that was about, don’t you.”

I felt him nod.

“Let’s sit down and I’ll tell you about my past,” I said sighing. “But…” I turned and looked into his eyes sadly. “This is something Mokaba shouldn’t hear.”

We went into the living room and Kaiba told Mokaba to go play. Mokaba nodded, he had heard the conversation in the hallway. He went to play playstation in Kila’s room.

Kaiba and I sat down on the couch. I pulled my knees up and leaned my chin on them. Kaiba stayed silent as I started my tale.

I told him about my past as the moon kingdom’s oldest princess and the destruction of the Silver Millennium. Then I explained that I had been reborn here on earth. I told him about how I had been known as the Shadow Slayer when I worked for my father, Lord Talpa, as a warlord along side of four others. I told him about how I had slain thousands of people under my father’s orders.

Halfway through, I shut my eyes and tightened my arms around my knees as tears dropped from my eyes. Kaiba’s arms went around me giving me the strength to continue the story. I then told him how me and the other warlords had turned on joined warriors, known as the Ronins. I told him how we had defeated Talpa and then went our separate ways. How I came to live here, and Jakar stayed in the Star family mansion. While my half-sister Serena and her husband went to live in America.

After I told it, Kaiba silently swore never to bring it up again.

“I‘m…” he started. “I shouldn’t have made you tell me.”

“No,” I said looking in his eyes. “I love you, and you deserved to know. It was a hard past, but now I’m with you and have a happier life.”

He smiled as he kissed my lips gently. I closed my eyes as I turned in his embrace. His tongue ran along mine as I made a meowing sound. His arms tightened around me as my arms went around his neck. Suddenly his cell rang. He groaned, breaking the kiss to answer it, I giggled at him. He raised an eyebrow at me as I laid my head on his chest.

“Hello,” he answered. I yawned and stood up stretching my arms.

“The answer is no,” he said as I looked at him. He turned the cell off.

“Who’s that?” I asked sitting on his lap.

“Just another competitor with Kaiba corp.,” he said leaning against the couch. “Mokaba and I will have to leave soon.”

I pouted as I looked at him. He chuckled at the look I gave him.

“Is there anyone else you can stay with?” he asked. I sighed shaking my head.

“You can come with Mokaba and I to the Kaiba Mansion,” he said.

My eyes widen, “you’d let me come stay with you and Mokaba.” He nodded, I threw my arms around his neck as I kissed him.

“Yes,” he said breathlessly as we broke apart. “Just get what you what you need.”

“There’s not much,” I said. “I’ve traveled for thousands of miles with hardly anything. But…” I paused.

“What is it?” he asked lifting my chin.

“What about Thunder, Lightning, and Nightstalker,” I said. “They’re my guardians and I’m not supposed to be separated from them during times of battle.”

“They may come too,” he said.

Smiling I kissed his cheek, “Thanks Seto.”

I pulled away and went upstairs to get my stuff.

Mokaba came running down, “Is it true Seto, is Maria really coming with us.”

Kaiba nodded “yes, Mokaba, it is.”

****       ****

Ten minutes later we were about to go out to Kaiba’s limo.

“Ummm…Maria?” Mokaba said.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Umm, what if people notice two werewolves and a panther with us,” he said.

“Oops,” I said. “I almost forgot. Thunder, Lightning, Nightstalker, change into something a little less noticeable.”

They nodded and a bright light surrounded them. When it ended two dogs, part wolf, and a sleek black cat stood in their place.

“That’s better,” I said laughing as Nightstalker jumped on my shoulder. “Your going to have to start acting like real dogs and a cat.”

“This is humiliating,” Nightstalker said. “I’m a guardian, not a pet.”

“Shut up.” Lightning growled. “Were being humiliated too.”

“Starting with the talking,” I said.

“Sorry,” they said. I nodded and went out to the limo.

****       ****

We entered the Kaiba Mansion.

“I’ve got to take care of some business,” Kaiba said. “Mokaba can show you to your room.”

“Thanks, Seto,” I said as he walked off down a hallway.

“Just follow me,” Mokaba said cheerfully. I smiled and followed him.

****       ****

“This is your room,” Mokaba said, opening a door on the second floor.

“Thanks, Mokaba,” I said walking into the room.”

“No problem,” he said. “Just come to the library when your done unpacking.”

“Alright,” is aid as he left.

The room was large, but I wasn’t surprised. I was used to huge places. The Star Mansion, even though it didn’t look like it, on the inside was twice as big. But this room seemed more comfy then the stone walled rooms at Star Mansion.

The bed was a king size canopy with pink covers and a pink satin canopy cover. The drapes were a light violet and the window looked out over the huge backyard. There was in the corner with two large shelves of books next to it. I smiled when I noticed they were Egyptian scripture and spell books. Then there was a night stand by the bed.

Smiling, I placed my black laptop on the desk. I realized they had been expecting me. Sometimes, Kaiba could be full of surprises. I used my powers to place my bags next to the bed. I went outside the room and reached out with my mind. There were servants on the first floor, The chef was in the kitchen. After a minute I found Mokaba in the library with Kaiba. I headed off in the direction of the library.

****       ****

I smiled as I walked into the library, Mokaba was sitting on the couch and Kaiba at his desk typing on his laptop. He hadn’t noticed I had walked in, Mokaba did. I pressed a finger to my lips, signaling him to be quiet, he smiled and nodded. Slowly I made my way to  stand behind him, Kaiba as typing on his laptop. I smiled and was about to play a joke on him, when…

*beep beep*

“damn,” I thought, my communicator was going off. Kaiba turned and raised an eyebrow at the mischievous way I was standing.

He instantly realized I was going to play a joke on him. I took out my communicator.

“We’ve found a Shadow realm demon,” came Amy’s voice.

“thought you were at the mansion,” I said annoyed.

“We are, the scanners just picked up the signal,” she said. “But, Maria, there’s something you need to know…”

“what is it?” I asked.

“It’s…something is with the demon,” she said.

“So…” I said.

“I think you need to see the energy waves,” the communicator began to glow. I watched as energy waves appeared.

“How, there…” I started,

“Yes,” Amy said. “There off the scale. Whoever is with them isn’t a pushover, I believe it’s the main enemy.”

“I’m checking it out,” I said.

“Please be careful,” Amy said,

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to lose,” I said. “I can’t…”

“Still, were not there to help you,” she said. “your on your own. Sp don’t try to be the hero., if the demon is too strong, don’t keep fighting….You have to…”

The communicator went dead.

I frowned, “seems the new warrior has cut off all communications to the Star Mansion.”

“Are you going to fight?” Mokaba asked, his wyes wide.

“I have to,” I said, “Without the other scouts, I’m the only one that can protect this city and those who live here.”

“Your going to fight alone?’ Kaiba asked. I looked at him and saw concern in his eyes.

I dropped my eyes to the floor, “I have no choice, the others aren’t here, I’ve got to fight alone.”

“Your not alone, princess,” came Thunder’s voice. Thunder, Lighting, and Nightstalker came in, transforming to their true forms.

“Let’s go,” I said as I pulled out my star crystal. “Dark Moon Star Crystal Power!”

I transformed into my sailor form. I noticed Mokaba look away, and Kaiba’s eyes take on a strange look.

“What?” I said, looking at the with a confused look.

Kaiba figured if he said something, he’d get hit. If he told me I was nude before I transformed, he knew I’d slap him, hard.

“Be careful,” he said instead.

“Don‘t worry,” I said. “I will.”

“I can make it so you see all the battles on the t.v.,” Nightstalker said. “This way, you’ll have a way to communicate when the battle starts.”

“Let’s move,” I said. The window flew opened, I jumped into the air and too off towards where the demon was.

“Maria!” Thunder growled, he turned to Lightning. “Let’s go.”

“Right,” Lighting said as the took off after me.

Nightstalker’s eyes began to glow as a picture appeared on the t/v/ it showed me racing towards the battle.

“Nightstalker?” Mokaba asked.

“I am indirect link to Maria and my power are allowing us to see her and Thunder and Lightning, through Silver bolt’s eyes,” Nightstalker said.

“Silverbolt?” Mokaba asked.

“Yes,” Nightstalker said, her tail swiping the air slightly. “A fellow guardian. Who’s late!”

“Get off ,my case!” came Silverbolt’s voice. “I ran into trouble!”

“Stop making excuses you featherbrain idiot,” Nightstalker growled.

“How about shutting up, over grown pussy cat,” Silverbolt screeched.

“Just button your beak and keep your eyes on Maria,” Nightstalker snarled. “Anything happens to her, and I’ll be having you for dinner.”

“Yeah yeah,” Silverbolt said. “I’m following.”

Meanwhile, Thunder, Lightning, and I, had reached the park where the energy was strongest.

“Hello Sailor Dark Star Moon,” a demon stepped out of the shadows.

“Who are you?” I said.

“I am Katen,” the demon said. “You can either come quietly or I will take you to my master unconscious.”

I raised my wand, “Dark Moon Star Heartache Reform.”

A string of purple glowing ribbons  shot at Katen, he just smile and jumped out of the way…right behind me. I felt his energy behind me.

“You are no match against me,” he said as I felt him touch my cheek, his voice was right next to my ear. My eyes widen at how close he was, I tried to move, but my body wouldn’t respond.

“Maria!” Thunder growled, running towards us with Lightning by him.

“Remember this my dear,” Katen said softly into my ear. As his hand caressed the side of my neck. “There is no place my master can’t find you.”

Finally coming to my senses, I let out an energy flare, pushing him away from me. I spun around, anger flaring in my eyes.

“Don’t’ touch me,” I snarled aiming my wand at him. “Dark Moon….Star….Cosmic…”

“I don’t’ think so, Dark Flame!” he yelled.

“uhh,” I jumped out of the way, getting charred a good bit though.

Pushing my self off the ground, I gasped. He was right in front of me.

“Argh,” I jump-flipped away from him.

Kaiba and Mokaba were watching the battle.

“She’s losing,” Mokaba said frightened.

“Do not worry,” Nightstalker said. “Maria has battled to the brink of death before and still came out as the victor.”

Kaiba looked at her his eyes wide, I had fought to the brink of death. Even though, he wouldn’t admit , he didn’t want to lose me.

He turned to the t.v., but water he saw shocked him. There was blood running down my arm.

****       ****

“damn,” I growled, jumping back again. My wounds were starting to slow me down.

I had a wound on my arm that was bleeding badly, but how deep, I didn’t know. I had a shallow wound on my shoulder as well. Thunder and Lightning weren’t doing any better. They were ahead, but every time they hit him, they were blasted backwards.

“There has to be a way to defeat him, of course,” I said as I looked at Thunder sending a telepathic message. “Attack from both sides, then I’ll attack.”

“Understood, princess,” came Thunder’s reply.

Thunder and Lightning spitted up and attack from both ways.

“Now,” I thought,. I concentrated as I held my wand, then I twirled it.

“Moon…Star…Cosmic…Heart…Attack!& #8221; I yelled.

Katen turned to the light, but there wasn’t enough time to get out of the way.

“Arrrrr….” he cried as the attack destroyed him.

I managed a smile before I collapsed forward.

*growl*

Thunder caught me before I hit the ground.

“Princess?” he growled.

“I’m alright ,” I said tiredly. “just a little drained.”

He nodded and turned to Lightning as sirens were coming close, ‘Let’s get out of here.”

Lightning nodded and took off back to the kaiba mansion.

“Maria!” Mokaba cried as Thunder came in through the window carrying me.

Kaiba also walked over, I opened my eyes and caught his look. His eyes held concern and worry in them.

“Don’t worry,” I said to them. “I’m alright.”

Thunder set me on my feet as my sailor uniform turned ti my spaghettis strapped shirt and jeans. I held my shoulder as I sat down.

Thunder placed a clawed hand over the wound. As his hand began to glow, so did the wound. When his claws left my shoulder, the wound was completely healed. Except for the one in my arm.

Mokaba watched and ran out of the room, he came back in with bandages.

“Here,” he said to Thunder.

Thunder looked down at Mokaba, and smiled a small smile. He took a bandage and used his claws to wrap it around my arm.

“Thanks, Thunder,” I said standing up and stretching my arm.

“Are you sure your alright?” Mokaba asked.

I smiled at him, “I’ll be alright.”

“This isn’t the first battle the princess has been injured,” Thunder said, sounding non too happily.

“There’s been a battle where she was brought to the brink of death,: Lightning said. “But even though it seems she will lose, she has always pulled through, It’s because she’s never given up.”

I looked away, my eyes downcast, “Those times, my friends were fighting along side of me.” My voice held strong sadness in it.

Thunder bopped Lightning on the head, hard, “Nice going, pup.”

I turned and walked out of the room.

“Maria?” Nightstalker watched me, then turned on lightning angrily. “You call yourself a guardian, do you realize how much pain has renewed in her, from bringing up the past battles.”

“What other battles has Maria fought?” Mokaba asked.

“That’s something you don’t need to hear, Mokaba,” Kaiba said. “Why don’t you go play.”

“Aww, Seto,” Mokaba whined, but he left.

Thunder looked at him, “She told you?” Kaiba nodded.  “How much did she tell you, was…it about the Shadow Slayer.”

“Yes,” Kaiba said nodding.

Thunder watched him, “You must mean a lot to her, for her to tell that story.”

Kaiba just staid silent.

“How much do you care about her?” Thunder asked, turning serious.

Kaiba just looked at him, then looked out the window.

“I care for her deeply,” he said, wishing I could hear him.

Thunder looked into his eyes to see if he was telling the truth. As a guardian he had the power to look into the hearts of those who truly felt feelings for the princess he guards. He had been giving that by Queen Serenity, so he could tell if the person truly was the one, “that would love me for who I was”.

He smiled then turned serious, “But she didn’t tell you about how dangerous the battles were. The nettled are sometimes like duel monsters battling, `fights to the death`.”

Kaiba’s head sprang up.

“Yes, those who battled Maria, fought to the death,” Thunder said. “I shall tell about the battle that had brought her to the brink of death.’

“She told me about the battle of the Ronins, Vrs. The Ruler of the Dynasty, Lord Talpa,” Kaiba said. “And that he was her father.”

“I shall tell you what she left out,” Thunder said. “What you must understand is that, Maria fights to protect those around her.”

“Maria doesn’t fight because it’s her destiny as a warrior, or because she likes it,” Lightning said. “She does it for those she cares about. She knows if the enemy was tow in, everyone she cares about will be killed. In other words, she staid behind to fight here…for you and your little brother.:

Kaiba stood there trying to comprehend all that was being told to him.

“There’s something else you should know,” Thunder said. “Maria posses the power of one of the strongest warriors, but…she needs energy from another to be able to call on her full power. She will need your help.”

Thunder started to turn away.

“How can I help her?” Kaiba asked.

“Believe in her,” thunder said, looking at him. “And…”

“And what?” Kaiba said.

“You have the answer to that,” Thunder said, getting ready to jump to the outside. “Look inside.”

With that Thunder and Lightning along with Nightstalker were gone.

Kaiba sat at his desk thinking. He looked out the windows, he hadn’t been lying when he said he cared for me, he did, he would give his life for me. He loved me and would do just about anything for me. He stood up and left the library to look for me.

I was standing on the balcony to my room. I was leaning on the rail, my chin resting on my palm. I closed my eyes as I began to sing,

“When I think of what I've been through
I can see that you've always been there for me
To tell the truth I don't know what I'd do
without you, None of my dreams would have come true.

You are the one that I have called for.
Now my life means so much more
Now we can be together forever
Forever just you and me
Me here for you, you here for me.

It was you who showed me I got a friend in you
I always knew that you'd be right here for me
And It was you who stuck with me when the skies where blue
And it was you who stayed by my side, it was you!

Since the day you came into my life
I knew then that you'd be someone right by my side
Then you proved you're a friend to me
In my heart, forever you will always be

You are the one that I had hoped for
Now my life means so much more
Now we can be together forever
Just you and me
there for each other

It was you who showed me I got a friend in you
I always knew that you'd be right here for me
And It was you who stuck with me when the skies where blue
And it was you who stayed by my side, it was you!

Since the day you came into my life
I knew then that you'd be someone right by my side
Then you proved you're a friend to me
In my heart, forever you will always be

You are the one that I had hoped for
Now my life means so much more
Now we can be together forever
Just you and me
there for each other

It was you who showed me I got a friend in you
I always knew that you'd be right here for me
And It was you who stuck with me when the skies where blue
And it was you who stayed by my side, it was you!

It was you who was always by my side
And I just can't do it, you helped me through it
We're friends forever like best friends should be
You'll always be a special part of me!

It was you!

It was you who showed me I got a friend in you
I always knew that you'd be right here for me
And It was you who stuck with me when the skies where blue
And it was you who stayed by my side, it was you!

It was you who showed me I got a friend in you
I always knew that you'd be right here for me
And It was you who stuck with me when the skies where blue
And it was you who stayed by my side, it was you!

It was you who showed me I got a friend
I always knew that you'd be right there
It was you who stuck with me when skies where blue!
It was you!  I knew that I could count on you!

It was you who showed me I got a friend in you
I always knew that you'd be right here for me
And It was you who stuck with me when the skies where blue
And it was you who stayed by my side, it was you!

You are a friend to me, It was you.”

A tear slowly dropped down my cheeks unnoticed. My whole body began to shake, I missed my friends a lot.

Arms slowly wrapped around my waist, pulling me tight against the warm body. I relaxed right into them, as a hand wiped the tear that was on my cheek away.

“Kaiba…” I whispered. I felt him nuzzle my neck, his arms slightly tightening.

I closed my eyes, relaxing into his warm embrace, his presence comforting. I turned in his embrace, so I could face him. Looking in his eyes, I saw how much he loved me, His head was slightly leaning forward. Slowly I stood on my toed and closed my eyes. His lips lightly brushed against mine, I moaned when his tongue slid across my bottom lip. My lips parted and his tongue entered, exploring every inch. His arms went around my waist pulling me tighter against him as, my arms slid around his neck, electing a groan from him. He slanted his head to deepen the kiss. His hand came up and caressed circles into the back of my neck. I moaned as I felt heat shoot to my abdomen.

Kaiba could feel himself growing hard. When we broke apart, he saw my eyes had glazed over. His were half closed and were filled with love and lust. He bent forward capturing my lips again, as his hand traveled along my body. I moaned as his hand traveled down my neck, but flinched when it stopped over my wound. I looked up at him, he was looking at the wound. His eyes met mine. I dropped my eyes to the ground, thinking he was mad at me for not telling him sooner.

“What’s wrong?” he asked as he pulled my chin up so that our eyes locked.

“Are you mad?” I asked, dropping my eyes.

“Why would I be mad?” he said concerned.

“For keeping it from you for so long,” I said.

“Maria…” he made me face him again. “I’m nod mad.”

“But…” I started. “I kept it from you for so long.”

“That wasn’t you fault,” he said. “Your brother told you to keep it secret, and…I wasn’t exactly giving you the idea that I cared.”

He looked at the window. I took in a breath, I may have once thought he was cold-hearted, but…

“Kaiba, I may have thought that about you once…but,” I placed a hand on his cheek, my pale forest green eyes connecting with cold blue ones. “But…now I know better, you may act cold, but I know you have heart. It’s only shown to those who are close, but you have one.”

I looked away then back at him,” I would never change you, besides…” I blushed and looked at the ground. “It was your cold exterior I had fallen in love with.”

He looked at me, his eyes slightly wide, then smiled slightly. He turned me to him and before I knew what was happening, his lips were on mine, I tightened myself against him as his hand dropped to the edge of my shirt.
