Ten minutes later at the cafe...
When everyone had assembled Rei and the others told everyone what had happened. "Well, we found her! I cant believe we found all of them in one day... well, anyway, its all done now. They will all be at the party." Everyone sighed and began grinning, but Usagi and Saeko seemed to be a bit happier than everyone else was. They were giggling, and Setsuna noticed this. "Saeko, what happened with your search? Did all go well?" Everyone but Usagi and Mamoru stopped and looked at Saeko questioningly. Usagi poked Saeko. "Ok girl. Everyone is together now. Tell us!" Saeko smiled at the future queen's impatience. "All right... I didn't come here just to warn everyone and to help find the others... I had an alternative plan as well. You see, my betrothed was killed in the Sailor Wars, and reborn here... I came here to find him at the same time as the Seasonals... his sister was one of them, so he could be helpful..." She looked down. "I am sorry for not having told you any of this sooner, but I wasn't sure I would be able to find him, and I didn't want my disappointment to be known to you if that was the case. Luckily for me, Mamoru met him while he was in the orphanage, and he works as an inspector now for the Tokyo police... and he has agreed to meet all of you tonight at dinner. He knows nothing of his past, and I am not going to tell him until after certain things happen. So don't mention anything about the Silver Millennium, or the Senshi. I must know that he still loves me." Everyone had remained silent, but now all the girls started smiling, then giggling. "Congratulations Saeko!!" This came from everyone except for Setsuna. She regarded her cousin and saw something else lurking in her eyes. "What aren't you telling us, cousin?" Saeko was mildly surprised, but had figured Setsuna would see that she was hiding something. She smiled. "If you want to know, then you'll show up at Rei's for dinner tonight." Her eyes sparkled. She loved how people got when trying to figure out a secret... "Now, I need a snack... What's good here?" Everyone started suggesting snack foods and Setsuna gave up trying... for now.
Three hours later at Rei's...
A knock sounded on the door, and dinner was almost ready. Saeko answered the door. It was Akira, of course.
"Hey! Come on in. How are you?" She hugged him quickly, and he returned it. "I'm fine. How are you?" Saeko grinned sheepishly. "Kind of nervous... all of my friends are here to meet you. They are all in the kitchen and dining room, getting everything ready. They don't know yet... I figured we could tell them as dessert is being served, okay?" He smiled back. "Of course... hey, do you want the ring now, or later?" He stuck his hand into his pocket, and brought out small jewelers' box. Her eyes lit up. "Now, please." He opened the box, and she gasped as she saw the most beautiful ring she could ever remember seeing. The band was white and yellow gold twined together, the gems on top were a row of tiny diamonds at the base of the slightly protruding emerald and amethyst cut and set to sit next to each other. *This is even better than something I would make... I have to find out who designed it... but first...* "It's perfect! Thank you!" She tried it on for a minute, then took it and hid it in her pocket. "I'll put it back on when we tell everyone, otherwise the surprise will be ruined..." He smiled. "I understand. Come on, let's go meet those friends of yours... shall we?" Before they did anything else, she turned and kissed him, then turned back around and headed into the dining room, pulling him along by the hand.
The first thing he noticed was Mamoru and Usagi sitting on a couch near the back of the room, sitting really close, and talking quietly. Then, to his left, he saw a blonde who looked enough like Usagi to be her twin, except for the different hair-do. She was sitting next to and talking to a guy with silverish hair tied back in a ponytail and green eyes that looked slightly familiar, and of the same age. To his right were some children playing cards. The first was a girl about nine years old, with pink hair in odangos similar to those of Usagi, but more pointed, and her hair only went a little bit past her shoulders and her eyes were a deep shade of pink. The next was a tiny redhead, about four, also with odangos, but these were more heart-shaped, whose hair came to her neck in ringlets, and her eyes were a bright blue. And the last was a girl who looked to be about twelve with straight, black, shoulder-length hair and dark purple eyes. This girl looked to be a little bit paler than the others, and he wondered if she was physically ill. Setting the table were a girl with shiny, short blue hair and bright blue eyes and a guy with brown hair in a ponytail, and brown eyes, who brought the same familiar feeling as the silver-haired guy. Both were about the same age as the blondes and silver-haired guy, as were the people he could see in the kitchen beyond the table. A brunette with a high ponytail whirled around the kitchen checking things; in there with her were a girl with raven-black hair and almost violet eyes, a taller guy with black hair in the same ponytail as the other two and blue eyes. He also saw two other people who looked a bit older than the rest, but younger than himself, Saeko, and Mamoru. The girl had aqua colored hair a little bit past her shoulders with a headband holding it all back, and green eyes that looked older than they should. The guy was taller with short, sandy, brownish blond hair, and brown eyes with the same aged look. From behind them came the sound of someone clearing their throat, and he turned to see a tall girl about the same age as himself watching him. She had long, past the knee, dark green, make that almost black, hair; half of it was up in a bun, the rest left to hang free. Her eyes were almost magenta. She was looking at him strangely, and when he turned to Saeko, she was looking at the girl. He heard her begin to talk.
"Everybody, he's here." No one had been aware of them, or at least, they acted like they hadn't been. They all looked up, stood, and said hello. Saeko turned and began to make introductions. Akira, I would like you to meet my friends... the blonde over there with the red bow in her hair is Aino Minako, and next to her is Kou Yaten. Over there is Yatens' brother, Kou Taiki, and Mizuno Ami. The younger ones are pink hair, Tsukino Chibi-Usa; red hair, Tsukino Chibi-Chibi; and black hair Tomoe Hotaru. In the kitchen, the cooking whiz is Kino Makato. The girl with black hair standing next to her is Hino Rei, and next to her, Kou Seiya. The aqua haired girl is Kai'oh Michiru, and the person next to her is Ten'oh Haruka. This," she turned back to the mysterious girl still staring at him "is my cousin, my last remaining family. Her name is Meiou Setsuna." He had said a polite hello to everyone, and when he turned to greet Setsuna, he saw her eyes narrow a bit. He offered his hand. "It is very nice to meet a member of Saekos family, as well as all of her friends." When she took his hand and shook it, he felt a cold shiver go through him. She pulled away, murmuring a nice 'how do you do', and walked into the kitchen. He cleared his mind of that weird feeling he'd gotten and smiled at everyone. "It's very nice to meet all of you. Oh yeah, I forgot about you two..." This was aimed at Mamoru and Usagi, who had stayed sitting through the introduction, as if they were too important or busy to be bothered by formalities. "With you sitting down and everyone else standing up, it was hard to remember you were even there. Mamoru, Usagi, how are you?"
Everyone was surprised that he knew Usagi, but then realized that she had been with Saeko and Mamoru when they had gone to the police station. Usagi stood and spoke first. "It's nice to see you again Inspector Akira. We are fine. I am afraid I have a need to talk to a certain blackish green haired friend of mine. Since you haven't seen each other in a while, excluding today's' visit, do you think you could keep Mamo-chan company for a few minutes? You need to catch up anyway... Saeko, I'll need you to accompany me to see Setsuna." She used an authoritative voice no one here had ever heard her use, and they were stunned. Akira had the feeling that this wasn't normal behavior for her, and the way everyone had gone quiet confirmed it. He was curious as to why she thought she could be so bossy, but dismissed the thought and spoke. "Um, sure, Usagi..." He walked to where Mamoru was now standing next to Usagi, and everyone watched as Usagi led the way out of the room, with Saeko following her, her head bowed in... Submission?? The small groups of people in the room started talking to themselves about what had just occurred. Akira heard snippets of conversations going on around him. "Usagi has never acted like that before..." "Was it because of Setsuna??" "She is definitely getting her royal behavior together..." He turned to Mamoru, who had a look in his eyes Akira had never seen before. It was a mixture of admiration, appreciation, shock, and fear. It disappeared soon enough to make him wonder if it had really been there. "Well, Akira, it seems you've gotten a little more mature than the last time I saw you... how've you been? What have you been up to?" Both men smiled, and Akira was about to answer when a little grayish-pinkish kitten with a golden half moon symbol on its' forehead meowed loudly as it pressed against Akiras' leg. "Diana, don't be so rude..." Mamoru knelt and held out his hand, and the kitten jumped onto it. "This is Chibi-Usa's kitten, Diana... she likes to surprise people." The cat mewed in agreement and bumped her head against Mamorus chin, then leapt to Akiras shoulder. He chuckled and petted the tiny cat gently. "Hiya kitty." Then, one white cat and one black one, both with the same symbol on their foreheads, jumped onto the couch next to them and the kitten jumped down to mew to the other cats. "Those are Diana's' parents. The white one Minako's' cat Artemis. The black one is Usagis' cat Luna." Akira gave a smirk. "I guess we like the moon goddesses huh?" Mamoru smirked back, and for a moment they looked alike. "Yeah, well, lets just say it's a family thing for Usagi and Chibi-Usa." They continued to talk and eventually the conversation turned to what had been happening since they'd last seen each other.
Outside...
Setsuna, Saeko, and Usagi were standing in the courtyard. Usagi gave Setsuna a look that said if 'I don't hear an explanation you will be dead soon.' "Okay, I want to know what that was about and I want to know now." Setsuna sighed. Before she could speak, Saeko said what was on her mind. "Set never really trusted Akira... she didn't think he was right for me, and she thought I would get hurt." Okay, that was straightforward enough... but Usagi was not satisfied. "I asked Setsuna what it was about, not you, Saeko." Her tone clearly said not to interfere. Saeko bowed her head and apologized. "Yes, majesty. I am sorry." Usagi nodded and looked back at Setsuna again. "Well, are you going to tell me or what? And don't tell me that what Saeko said was right because I can tell what she can't. I am smarter than I let on, and I know when one of my guardians is being bothered by something. And when they are lying." Setsuna sighed, and walked to sit on one of the steps nearby. "I guess it is time for me to tell you. He was originally betrothed to me, but he defied everyone's' wishes, and broke the agreement, in order to be with you, Saeko." She was stunned. Her Akira had actually been promised to Setsuna, her own cousin? "I watched him closely, to make sure he wouldn't do the same to you. I didn't want you to feel that way. I hadn't been in love with him, but it still hurt to be dumped by another. I just wanted to keep you from being hurt. So, in a way Your Highness, what Saeko said wasn't wrong. Just... incomplete." She hung her head. "Saeko was so in love with him at the time, I didn't want to tell her about it. She might have thought I was jealous or something, and I didn't want that thought to cross her mind." Saeko shook her head. She couldn't believe that was Setsuna talking. "Set, I would never have thought that. In fact, I would have thanked you for not stopping him." She sat next to her cousin and hugged her. "You should have come to me a long time ago... and he should have told me as well... I wouldn't have thrown you guys together so often!" Usagi smiled. She knew that once everything had been said, it would be over. "Okay, now that that is settled, can we go eat? Being queenly is hungry work." Both of the other girls laughed at this, and they went inside. Everyone had been talking, but they stopped as the girls walked back in. Usagi looked back to normal. "Well, what's everybody staring at me for? I'm not allowed to practice for the future?" Rei, noticing that Akira's ears had perked up when Usagi had said that, decided to do what must be done in that situation. "Meatball head!! Why do you always have to be such a ditz?! Now dinner is getting cold!!" Usagi started to argue with her. "Oh come off it Rei. You could cut the tension in here with a knife when I came back in here and I know I was acting weird but I had something important to talk to my friends about. Not that you would know anything about friends, considering you're too mean to have any!" Rei was actually a bit stung, but she knew she deserved it. "You're right. I'm sorry for being so mean... but a few of the people around here don't know about our... situation and we agreed that we would keep it a secret, remember?" Usagi blushed, and realized what she had said. "Oops..." This little conversation brought on even more stares, and Mamoru was just sitting there as if someone had knocked him over the head with a book. Then he talked. "Oh my god. I didn't think that that would ever happen while I was around..." Everyone else agreed, and Usagi and Rei looked at everyone as if they were crazy. "What didn't you think would ever happen while you were around, Mamo-chan?" He began to laugh like he hadn't in a while, and as he replied, everyone but Akira (who would need to be sent a search party soon, as he was getting lost) started laughing as well. "You and Rei... resolving an argument... on your own... without a stick-out-your-tongue-contest..." Both girls blushed. Rei came back quicker and answered that with a quip. "Don't expect it to happen again. We just decided it would be a bad first impression for Saekos' boyfriend." It was said boyfriends' turn to blush as everyone looked at him for a second, then looked back at the girls. Usagis stomach rumbled, and everyone began to laugh again. "Can we eat now? I'm starving, and Makato cooked dinner." Everyone sat at the table, talking and laughing, telling Akira stories about how they had all met -the abridged versions of course- and how Mamoru and Usagi had met, and everything they could think of that wasn't Silver Millennium related. They ate Italian food, spaghetti and meatballs, which made everyone tease Usagi about making a hairstyle out of food.
Akira and Saeko sat next to each other, and as the dessert was just being finished, Saeko stood up, sticking one hand into her pocket to grab the ring and slip it on. "Everybody, I have something to say... when I came here looking for friends, I also came with another purpose. My father arranged for me to marry the son of his business partner and close friend. When my father died a while back, he asked me to search for the boy I was to marry, who was reputed to have died in a house fire when he was five and I was four. If I found him, I was to tell him about the arrangement, and try to get him to agree to finish the deal, and marry me. I really didn't have to search for long, and I didn't really have to persuade him to marry me... otherwise my fiancée wouldn't be sitting here next to me right now!!" She brought her hand out so that they could all see it. All of the girls gasped and Usagi smiled. They all said one thing at once. "So that's what you were hiding at the cafe earlier!!" Everyone gathered around her and Akira, the girls grabbing the hand that was now wearing the engagement ring and the guys all talking to Akira about how much it had cost.
"Wow!" "Its gorgeous!" All the girls were congratulating her, and Mamoru and Usagi just sat there at the head of the table, watching. "Well, Usako, it seems everything is all right after all... for now at least... what was bothering you enough to act mature earlier?" Usagi explained what had been talked about and then told him not to tell any of the others. If the two cousins wanted the information known to the others, they would have to explain it all themselves. Usagi cleared her throat, and all of the girls quieted immediately. They hugged Saeko and Akira one last time, then went back to their seats. The guys slapped Akira on the shoulder as they headed back to their chairs. Akira sensed that Usagi was considered leader by everyone here, even Mamoru, and he was confused and curious as to why, but said nothing. She stood, and motioned for Saeko to come to her. Then, when Saeko was right in front of her, she changed back to normal and was grinning. "Congratulations!!!!" She grabbed Saeko in a hug. Everyone sighed and started chattering. "For a minute I thought she was going to tell her she couldn't marry him..." This came from Minako, who sat next to Akira. He looked at her. "Why would she have done that? And if she did, why would Saeko listen to her?" Minako looked as if she had said something she shouldn't have, and that made Akira worry. What was everyone hiding from him? "Well, Usagi is kind of our... boss... when it comes to certain things... and we have pretty much agreed to do anything she asks of us..." Yaten came over, partly to congratulate Akira, partly to stop the conversation. "Well, it seems our family has a new member. Welcome to the family, pal!" Yaten was having fun. He didn't get to joke as often as he'd used to. Akira smiled and thanked him when he figured that "family" meant all of them felt as if they were just that. He felt better. He hadn't been part of a family for a long time. He smiled. Just then, he felt a hand on his shoulder, and looked up to see Usagi standing over him. He stood, feeling as if he was supposed to. She hugged him. "Congratulations, and welcome to our family of friends." Everyone smiled at that, and when that was over, Usagi went back to Mamoru's side. She started to feel a rumble in her stomach. "Um, Makoto, is any of that dessert left? I'm still hungry!" Everyone fell into a fit of laughter, and stopped worrying. It was obvious that Usagi approved of the guy. Saeko pulled Akira into the hallway. "Thank you." He looked at her. "Whatever for?" She smiled. "For not arguing about anything, and for standing when Usagi came to you. You see... she is actually a princess... and we are her guardians. Her, loyal protectors, I guess you could say." He was confused. "What kind of princess? Why isn't she in a palace where there are bodyguards and stuff to protect her?" Saeko chose what she said carefully. "You see, her family was killed a long time ago, the palace attacked, and the Queen sacrificed herself so that Usagi could get out. You will be told all about it after we are married. Today is Saturday... how about we elope? We could be married by Wednesday, and then everything will be perfect." He smiled at her. "However you want the marriage to happen is up to you..." Saeko grinned. "Okay, come on, I know just what to do in this situation..." She led him back into the dining room and got Seiya's' attention. He saw the look in her eyes and asked what she wanted. "Do you think we could all use one of those jets you three own? We are going to elope, but we want everyone here to go with us."
Seiya smiled, and nodded. "I have no problems with that. When will this be? Where would we be going?" Saeko smiled. "We will go now, to Las Vegas in America. Okay?" Seiya thought that it was a bit soon, but then realized what would happen if they didn't get married soon enough. "Sure." Saeko turned to Akira. "Is there anyone you would like to bring?" Akira grimaced. All the guys at the station were always on his case since he was the youngest. And he hadn't really kept in touch with any of his old school buddies. "No... There is no one... I mean, if my sister had been alive, I would have asked that she could come along, but she died in the fire. I mean, at least, they never found her body, so I assume she's dead." Saeko got a gleam in her eye, but said nothing. She turned back to Seiya, who had already ordered a jet to be ready within the hour. They all left for the airport, and the plane had gone up soon enough. Luckily Saeko had thought ahead and brought a video camera along. When they landed, they stopped in a hotel shop, picked up a beautiful new dress, and the girls all got into one room to fix Saeko up. The guys headed to the chapel next door. Akira had Mamoru stand up as his best man, and Saeko picked Setsuna as her maid of honor. The girls and guys not in the ceremony sat and watched and taped everything. They said their "I do's" and left. It was still early here, so they went out to party afterwards, while Akira and Saeko stayed in the hotel and consummated the marriage.
The next morning, Akira remembered everything, and when they were back in Tokyo he told them so. He knelt in front of his future king and queen, and swore his loyalty. Then, he did the same for Saeko, who smiled, but looked tired, as if she had aged a bit. She went home with Akira, all of her stuff being taken there later. She asked Akira about everything. "Do you still love me? Are you angry with me about lying to you? Why didn't you tell me that you were betrothed to Setsuna before you met me?" He replied with: "Yes I do, no I'm not, and because I didn't want you to feel hurt or anything." He smiled, then asked her why she looked so tired. She asked him if he remembered the Gem Princess rule, and when he nodded, she explained that her one thousand years had ended, and that while she was still alive because of her emerald cage, she wouldn't be for much longer. "No! I only just found you again! I can't lose you now!" She smiled... "Don't worry. Our children will fix it. Once I have a child, everything will be fine. My life force will be renewed, and so will the powers of all of the gems used for good." Akira sighed. "Thank God." He hugged her. "I wouldn't be able to go on without you." She smiled. "I will be fine. Now, how about we work on the ideas for our children's names?" He smirked. "Well, since you are made of jewels, why don't we put jewel in their names? Nyoko or Tamako if it's a girl, and Tamakazu if its a boy." She smiled wider. "Good. Now how about we work on the children themselves?" She and Akira started walking towards the bedroom, and she knew she had done the right thing.
The following Saturday...
Everyone was at the party, all of the Seasonals included. They all had fun, and meeting the Starlights was the highlight of it. The Inners and Outers alike tried using likely passwords to see if anything happened, and when they said Senshi, something did. They realized it immediately, and finally they knew what to do. Chibi-Usa turned Luna-P into that sleeping potion she liked to use and slipped it into three of the four girls' drinks while the Three Lights entertained them. Then they led them to sofas where they could nap. "Really weird about them falling asleep like that huh?" Seiya asked Deanna, the one who hadn't been drugged.
She nodded. "I guess it was meeting you guys that did it..."
Seiya grimaced, and then shook his head to clear it. "Oh well, they won't be missing much. Hey, question: have you heard of the Sailor Senshi?" The wind picked up outside, and she nodded. "They are the people in uniforms that save the world from evil, right?" He smiled. He had been elected to awaken this one. "The Senshi are cool. In fact, I know the Senshi. One of the Senshi is here right now. The Senshi I know is you." Her body began to shake hard, the symbol of a flower shone on her forehead in pink and purple, and she asked, "What do you mean?" Seiya said it once more, just to be sure. "You are a Sailor Senshi, just like everyone else in this room." An aura surrounded the girl who then fainted, and a dark ghostly figure appeared. He had wisps of smoke for hair, and spooky gray eyes that made Chibi-Chibi duck behind Usagi's leg; he only wore a pair of black pants. "What is the purpose of this awakening?? The Queen made it clear to all that this would not be easy, or not tolerated as just a whim. There must be good reason; else the girl dies if the test is not passed. Tell me now." Seiya stood his ground against what seemed to be the guardian of the Senshi within the girl. "A terrible evil will soon fall upon the universe like a plague. If we do not have the aid of the Seasonals, we will lose, and everything good in the universe will disappear, including the Moon Princess." With that, he pointed to Usagi, who changed to Princess Serenity to show the guardian that Seiya told the truth. The guardian realized that there would be no point in arguing. "Very well. The test is to defeat me in battle." All transformed, but Seiya, now Sailor Star Fighter, told them to act as back up. Only the Sailor Stars would defeat this one. They went outside, so as not to disturb anyone inside. Fighter immediately started up by trying a punch-kick combination, but she fell right through the ghostly guardian. She turned as she landed and threw a "Star Serious Laser!" attack at him, which hit, since it was energy and not a solid form. The guardian wasn't very badly injured, so all three StarLights stood next to each other and bombarded him with their attacks, one after another. "Star Gentle Uterus!" "Star Sensitive Inferno!" The guardian took all of the hits, and started to look more injured, but not enough to stop him from attacking them. He swept over them like a fog, making it hard for them to breathe or see. Then, they all saw a purple and green glow bright enough to cut through the darkness. It was Saeko, and though she was using her power, she hadn't transformed. Her gems had begun to glow. They cast shadows, revealing which part of the guardian was real and solid. They all attacked that one part of the guardians' body with both energy and physical attacks at the same time. The guardian howled with pain, and fell to the ground. They were about to finish it off, when Eternal Sailor Moon stopped them. "No! He was originally one of my mothers court. He deserves to be set free the proper way." Her crystal began to shine. The darkness around the ghostly guardian dissipated. He turned into a normal human, and when he awoke a few minutes later, he knelt before Eternal Sailor Moon and thanked her. She told him not to tell anyone of this, since it wasn't the time of the Moon Kingdom, and he agreed and went to live a normal life on Earth. They all went back inside, and as Deanna woke up, her memories all returned to her, and her body transformed to Sailor Spring form.
Her eyes glazed over, and she looked up at all of them. "Why?" Usagi commanded her attention. "Because you are needed, as are the others. I will put you back to sleep afterwards if you wish, but for now we need your help." Sailor Spring recognized her Princess immediately, and knelt before her. "Yes, your highness. I understand." She detransformed and walked to where the others slept. (AN: Transformation Descriptions will be listed at the end of the fic.) "Summer is next. Her guardian won't be as easy." Everyone else had detransformed already, and Seiya told her what had happened. We might not have won if it hadn't been for Saeko. She was the one who showed us the real guardian... Hey, how did she do that anyway?" He looked over to where Saeko stood, and noticed that she had aged a little more. She looked like she was about to collapse. And she did. Luckily Akira stood right next to her, and caught her before she could fall very far. She had fainted. Akira took her to a couch and set her down. Everyone was watching as she came to, with a few wrinkles showing around her eyes. Setsuna came to her side, and Saeko looked from Akira to her and back. "You know I won't be able to live this way for much longer. Luckily, I found out what I needed to know this morning. I will be encasing myself in an emerald cage for nine months, until the next princess is born." Usagi demanded to know what was going on. "Saeko, Setsuna, Akira, what have you been hiding from us?" Saeko looked away. "I will die soon unless I have a child who can work the Gem magic that sustains my life. And if I die with no child having been born, so will all of the powers that gems provide us with, including your heart crystals, and the Silver Imperium Crystal." Everyone gasped. She continued in a dull voice. "Since my death is so imminent, I might die before I give birth. I am going to need to encase myself in an emerald cage, like the one that my subjects put me in before. That will sustain my life long enough for me to give birth to my child at the right time." Akira looked at her. "I won't let you go in there alone. I will go with you. I have leave time coming up anyway." Saekos' eyes shimmered. "But you can't... the cage is meant to preserve my life, and no one else. Keep me at the apartment. I will automatically awaken two weeks before it is time." To everyone else, she said: "Don't worry, the evil won't attack while I am asleep, of that I am sure. I have seen myself fighting it with you, at full power, which means my child was born." She turned back to Akira. "Take me home? They can take care of the guardians by themselves, now that Sailor Spring has been revived." She waved goodbye to everyone as they drove off in Akira's car.
