Sailor Moon Fan Fiction / Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Untold Stories ❯ Act 1 Chapter 1 Bastard of the Family ( Chapter 1 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Summary: In a Kingdom where only two children can be allowed ascent to a throne, the third and last must be taken at birth, and trained there on until old enough to guard there own brothers, sisters, or family members, never knowing their mother’s touch, their father’s laugh, what it’s like to play with a sibling. Instead, their only friends will be other Night Senshi’s as themselves, who all hold grudges against someone from taking them away from a life they might’ve had, one of fortune and luxury, and placing them in one of labor, one of hard work and solitude. All of them are overlooked, and because of this they were taken from the historic records and memories of the reborn, accounted for, Senshi. This is the untold story of the Night Senshi. YYH/SM x-over

Disclaimer: I own nothing but the original characters in this story as in Nikki, Erin, and Raven. Rayne and Faith are based on Faith from Buffy and Rayne from the BloodRayne games. I’m making no money off of this thing, the talented married couple of creators for SM and YYH are taking that, and Joss Whedon and whatever mind came up with BloodRayne.

Couples: Hiei/Nikki, Rayne/Raven, Erin/Kurama

The story process will be a little bit like Sin City, all of it done in Acts that happen at nearly the same time as the others, all having the same ending. Each Act will have chapters, around 10 or 12 each maybe. Each Act will spawn around one Night Senshi, in this order: Nikki, Raven, Faith, Rayne, Erin.

The rating for this story will be high in some chapters for Adult Content, but I’ll tell what chapters, and post a small alert before the scenes.

Now all that that is done with….

Act 1 - Chapter 1 - Bastard of the Family

“Today, one of our own receives punishment, a protector of Princess Serenity…”

The queen’s words echo through my ears as she gives her speech with me kneeling on the ground, arms bound so tight in chains that they are stretched out on either side of me, like a bird about to take flight away from it’s branch. My outer armor has been removed, leaving nothing but my dark tunic protecting my back from the many steel tipped whips about to come in contact with the skin and flesh covering my spine.

As Her Majesty continues on, I glance around at those surrounding me, the other Royalty of the Inner Planets, and the Royal Heirs bodyguards, all infuriated at the position I am in. My glances first land of Serenity, Princess of the Moon, our future leader, my object to protect. I can see in her eyes that she is confused by my punishment, but she will do nothing to speak up, knowing Mommy Dearest will give her an explanation as to why I ‘deserved’ this later. The girl was young, innocent, and naïve. She shouldn’t be seeing this, but she would watch, staying n the sidelines against her own judgment, not wanting to disappoint Mommy.

I glance over, to her fiancé, and all around dirtbag, Endymion, Prince of Earth, who rushed here as soon as he heard that his ‘dearest Serenity’ had been in danger. He was pompous, arrogant, and a tricky, little greedy bastard. It was obvious he was only doing this because he liked the sound of his own name, even more with King in front of it, and could only imagine the wealth he would get from this marriage. But he was also a good actor, he would’ve had to been to fool his future In-Law, his fiancé, even his own parents, and everyone else but me and my own. I could tell in his eyes that he felt no remorse at what was happening to me, and he might even enjoy it a little if I screamed enough. I wouldn’t fulfill that sick little fantasy.

Next in line was The King and Queen of Venus, looking overly beautiful and slightly arrogant as they always did, their son Kuwabara at their side, (who obviously got his looks from as some joke from the drunken Gods) along with gorgeous daughter Minako, who also had the same look in her eyes as Serenity, but she wouldn’t do a damn thing either. Kuwabara looked like he were in some weird ass daydream that most likely involved him and a damn army of cats. Standing in front of them, in an outfit and armor as mine, flashing blue eyes held high while only her quivering hands showed how pissed she was, stood Erin, long pink hair wrapped in a braid around her head. For a moment our eyes meet, and I somehow tell her not to interfere. She’d only receive the same fate. She nodded slowly, and I continued on.

Jupiter’s Royal Family was after them, each pair of green eyes staring at something in particular. The King and Queen were both enraptured by the Queen’s speech as if it were an angel speaking, while Prince Kurama was staring off, lost in thought, in the directions of either the Gardens or the Sea of Tranquility. Hard to tell from this position. His sister, Princess Makoto was next to him, looking bored, as if she’d be somewhere else. Her and me both. Rayne is by them, hand clenched so tightly, I’m worried she’ll puncture her palms like she has habit of doing. Fury filled eyes stare out of a blank face as she looks at the chains holding me as if she could free me. I know her plan, and shake my head no when she looks at me. For a minute she looks as if she’ll protest, but sharply exhales, and slowly nods, crimson hair spilling into her eyes for a moment.

“Her reason for punishment being leaving her post to…”

Leaving my post to go take a piss is getting me whipped. Harsh? Yeah, but what can I do about it. Selenity despises all Night Senshi. Watch those royal senshi make one mistake, and they get what? A warning, if even? Yes, Goddess forbid we do anything to scar them.

Shaking off my thoughts, I move on in the circle, knowing only from the sound of fast and shallow breathing that the Mercury family was behind me. I could see Raven shaking in anger, jaw clenched, husky blue eyes staring the Queen with barely held back anger. Behind her would be the present Rulers of Mercury, daughter Princess Ami beside them. Ami is probably the only Princess I slightly like, because she is somewhat nice to Raven when no one else is around. Somewhere in the area of this family would be the Prince of Mercury, Yusuke, who looks nothing like his parents, with brown hair and eyes. The records say that he was adopted from a distant cousin when she died. Yeah, right, I don’t think even Minako believes that.

Last in the circle before the Queen at the head, are the Marsian Royal Court. Faith stands there, showing no signs of anger, other than the fact that I can see her flashing eyes under her curtain of dark hair as her head hung down. For a moment our eyes meet, and she will do nothing. She hadn’t planned on it, because she knew I wouldn’t have wanted it. Good girl. Behind her, standing proud, arrogant, as always, were her once parents, Majesties of Mars. On either side of them, Princess Rei, looking as if she really didn’t want to see this. Guess what, honey, imagine feeling it. To the opposite of her, eyes showing the only sign of Mars heritage, was Prince Hiei. For a odd moment, our eyes meet, and I can see he doesn’t think this is fair either. I look away first. Meeting royalty’s eyes, and being found out would only earn me more licks.

“…shall receive 500 licks by two whips…”

500? She had lowered the number. Must be a good day of permanent PMS.

I hear the guards move behind me, metal tipped ends of the whips dragging the ground, making a distinct sound on the marble. To say that the whips were Cat O’ Nine Tails would be half right. A more accurate name would be Cat O’ Fifteen Tails, all steel tipped.

“..starting now.”

Showtime. The first lick is sharp, painful, unexpected as always. Bruises would be there if that was the only one. I keep my mouth shut, teeth clenched. Don’t make a damn sound Nikkiara. The only thing you can do is count. Another splattering of metal. Two.

By the time lick number one hundred rolls around, most of the back of my shirt is gone, blood staining the marble floor as it drips off my back. The licks are coming more furiously now, faster. Soon, the blood will pour, and there will be no skin left to shred, only flesh. I vaguely wonder if they’ll reach my spine. One lick ends up with most of the whips hitting raw, bleeding flesh, and it’s all I can do to clench my eyes shut, bite my lip, and make a sound, not even a hiss. Three hundred and ninety nine to go.

When the halfway mark hits, I’m trembling in my chains, head hung, hair making a black curtain in my face so the tears wouldn’t show a they ran their course. I hadn’t made a sound yet, the inside of one cheek bloody where I’ve had to bite it so many times. My jaw was beginning to ache from it being clenched all this time. Only my trembling, fast shallow breathing, and tears gave away my pain. Looking up, I glance around the circle again. Most of the Rulers are making it a point not to look at me. The Princesses are all looking sick, and are hiding their faces, their tears in either their brother’s or father’s shoulder. Most of the Princes are all looking away, or have their eyes closed. Prince Hiei’s eyes are filled with hidden anger, glancing daggers ever so often at the Queen. At least someone in royalty isn’t a total bitch. Endymion is watching with a look in his eye that mirror’s Selenity’s, though hers is hidden, muchly hidden. Both of them are enjoying. Get your jollies now, you sick freaks.

The others all have tears running down their faces also, but from fury filled eyes. If it weren’t for the fact that I hadn’t told them to say out of it, they’d be getting the same punishment. I don’t want them getting hurt because of me. Stay out of it.

It was long before the fifth hundred hit came. My tunic had no back. My back had no skin. If my spine wasn’t showing, it sure as hell felt like it, but I had managed not to scream. My breath came in ragged gasps, hanging limp in the chains. Tear trails ran down my face, but they had stopped long ago as I felt some part of me go numb. Shock, Raven would pronounce it when she checked me out later that night, and bandage me up. A physician of the court would come see me later, and report back to Selenity, I would need tome off to recuperate, which would displease her. At this point, I didn’t care. I just wanted out of these damn chains.

“What do you have to say for yourself, Night Senshi?” I hear Selenity ask, spitting out the last two words. Most of everyone else had left, other than Rayne, Raven, Faith, and Erin. Bless them.

There were many things I wanted to say, but they would only earn me more pain. Vaguely, I raised my head, and softly began to sing, my voice shaking, choked with tears, but still enough on key, and distinguishable.

“I’m rising up, I’m moving on. Give me strength to carry on. I feel the light upon my face. I hear the angel’s words of grace. My broken wings will never fly. Lift me up and testify. I standing up, I’m standing out. I feel the walls come crashing down.”

Next to me, I hear Rayne softly continue the song, and smile through me pain, as I stare defiantly up at Selenity, whose eyes were flashing in anger. “Release her, and escort her back to her room.”

Fifteen minutes later, I’m laying on my stomach, crying in the comfort of my friends, trembling, while Raven tries to bandage me up as best she can with as little pain as possible. How the hell I was going to sleep, I didn’t know, but she better have some good pain killers.

“This’ll take a while to heal.” Raven said from where she knelt down next to me.

“That’s obvious.” I said, voice shaking.

“I swear, I hate that bitch. I really do.” Rayne growled from the window seat.

“We all do.” Faith murmured. “All of us would kill her if we had the chance for freedom from this. But we don’t. We never will. Only death will give us freedom.”

“Which one of us almost received tonight.” Erin answered, voice angry.

The rest of us were silent, other than my sobs and whimpers, before Raven forced me to take a couple of pills that hopefully ease the pain for a while. By the time the physician got here, tomorrow most likely if my words had any affect, my bandages would be bloody again, back screaming with pain because of the ‘day after’ rule.

“One of us will have to stay with her tonight, and for a few more days.” Faith said finally.

“I will. I’m the only one here that can actually tend to wounds.”

Raven was staying, but any of them would have been glad company. Standing, I slowly made my way over to my bed, ad laid down on it, on my stomach, my hair had been put into a braid wrapped around my head so it wouldn’t aggravate the bandages. Vaguely, I heard the others leave, Erin coming to kiss my cheek before leaving, the Mother Hen of us.

“You’ve got to stop baiting her.”

“I know.” I whisper, and she too leaves.

Raven curls up in my window seat, as the pain killers start to work. Before I drift off to sleep, I look over why all this shit is happening. A while back, some big reject in government suggested a plan to help save money to give out to the mere unroyal folk of the planet or moon, or wherever they where inhabiting; each royal couple are only allowed 3 children, 2 being spent on, spoiled, and all the shit to become King or Queen one day, whoever got married first, yada yada yada. The other child was to be taken away and made into a bodyguard, getting nothing spent on it. Supposedly, the money not spent on this child went to the common folk. Bullshit, if you ask me.

I wasn’t Serenity’s sister. I was her cousin, rumored half sister. The Queen despised me, along with all of the Night Senshi, because she knew the rumors were true. How else would I have the crescent moon on my forehead, blood red though it may be, or the inherited blue eyes of the Lunar family? Because her husband had cheated on her with her sister, who bore me. Soon after I was taken, my mother died, father soon after. She blames me for his death, and looks upon me as a stain in the royal quilt.

I suppose I may be the bastard in the family, but dammit, I’d go out acting like a bitch towards her until the day I die.
